New favorite sushi spot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful little outdoor sushi bar,[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] delicious rolls, and very attentive staff. Delish, will be back ASAP

Not impressed. The best part about coming here was finding a parking spot right in front and visiting with my friend from out of town. Unfortunately everything else was a disappointment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We came here at 1215pm on a Thursday. The place was empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were sat fairly quickly however it took our server a good 10 minutes to greet us and get us a drink. Another 10 minutes to order and over 30 to deliver our two rolls! We finally asked him why another table who walked in after us were severed first (the only other table in the restaurant) and he said... oh, there was a big TO GO order that was ahead of you. ????? We both ordered the protein roll. My friend requested sauce on the side and he had to be reminded again since they were not brought with the rolls. I love me a good protein roll but I was very disappointed with it. It tasted more like a n imitation crab roll with whatever fish on top. I also had to ask for a refill. I would not recommend this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place also had a strange odor. Like wet dog.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was also what sounded like a pinball machine chime ringing con. I think it was their phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I went for lunch. They have a special and it's quite incredible. I got 2 rolls and it came with miso soup. Delicious! I got caterpillar roll and spicy tuna roll. Our waitress was great, didn't wait too long for our rolls. She checked on us when needed. Overall great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is clean, they have a nice outdoor patio with bar seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will come again.

Food for lunch was delightful. Service at the sushi bar was exceptional. The chef was professional, personal and thorough. Highly recommend this location. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seating is open and bar seats are the best![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend!!

COME FOR THE HAPPY HOUR! Solid spot but the happy hour makes it! Call ahead they have weird hours/days for it.

Javier our creative chef, made us a specialty platter, consisting of Zest Diego roll, Albacore Special roll and Chefs choice!

Got off a work trip late and wanted to find something that was in the area of my hotel. It was easy to find right off the corner. Upon arriving not very many people but nice crowd. Menus were very sticky... please clean your menus. Good variety of rolls to choose from. I like how you can scan the menu and see actual pictures of what you want to order. It does take a while for you to get food but this my favorite can't The spider hand roll was pretty tasty. It had a a lot of avocado but still good. The house salad could've used more of the ginger dressing. That miso soup was the star of the show. So good and flavor. So hot and everything. I would come back just for this. The rolls were great. They had a good variety to choose from. No shade they were slow. We didn't a refill until we were about it to leave. But over good experience here I will back.

4 stars for value and taste of food! Great local spot in PL. They have a beautiful patio and outside bar, plus indoor tables for seating. Food specials everyday, including weekends!! What is not to love?! Sushi, specials, weekend?! Service was mediocre. But everything else makes up for it. Also!! There is a delicious ice cream place next door. Nice treat after sushi. Yummm.

My cousin and I went here not long ago and I was shocked by how much I loved everything! My cousin is gluten free and they had so many amazing options which is rare at many Asian establishments! The crispy rice 10/10. Double crunch roll was delicious. Service was fast and definitely friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It appeared there were many regulars there![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would come back to this location for sure! Can't wait to try the one in Encinitas.

Had a visitor in town who was craving sushi and we had only been here for a quick drink and appetizer prior to this visit. Th three of us sat at the outside bar to watch a little Padres with our meal so we were served by the bartender, Nate(?) and he was great. We were starving so we ordered 4 full rolls and a few side dishes and apps. The miso soup to start was amazing. I have been subjected to some pretty crappy miso as of late. This miso had a mushroom/umami undertone that made it so much more than the usual. We got two rolls off of the competition menu between the different locations. And two rolls off the standard menu. They were all delicious. Some more jam packed than the others and hard to get in your mouth but not a deterrent for me. I'd definitely say the competition rolls were fun but decidedly more full. Personal favorite was the happy wife. We also got some cucumber salad and seaweed salad. I didn't know the cucumber salad came with the latter as well but I enjoyed the extra and ate it all! So ono!! Some folks were still hungry so we got the salmon carpaccio style dish. It reminded me of smoked salmon on a bagel. Wasn't my fave but the fish was good and my dinner partners loved it. Throughout our meal we had pleasurable interactions with our server/bartender who balanced the thirst needs of the bar and restaurant patrons very well. Excellent experience. I'll be back because I signed up for their rewards program as well. Seems like a good deal.

The large selection seafood is super fresh. A crowd of people were waiting for their food when we arrived. You order and pay at the counter and wait for your order. Indoor seating that overlooks the harbor is available. Most people opt to sit at table outside at tables that also have great views of the boat docks. The menu offers daily and happy hour specials. A large chalk board lists sandwiches, sushi, grilled and fried plate options and a few soups/appetizers. Bottles of wine and beer are available for purchase. I thought the meal prices were very reasonable. We ordered a Combo Plate, Fried Oyster plate and tuna sushi to share. This was a LOT of food but we wanted to share and try different fish. The fried oysters are juicy, flavorful and best fried oysters that I've ever had. The tuna sushi was delicious with the largest chucks of fresh tuna I've ever seen in a sushi roll. The fried cod in the Combo Plate was unexpectedly delicious with a light breading. I don't think I've ever had cod that was this fresh. The fried shrimp was good. The crab cake was a bit disappointing with little flavor and mushy. The generous portion of hand cut fries are fresh and delicious. The coleslaw was fresh and colorful, but didn't have much of a slaw flavor. The slaw was more of a salad, than a slaw. Overall, the food tastes excellent, is fresh and portions are generous. The clerks are friendly, engaging and the food comes out in about 15 minutes. They have a small amount of parking. We walked over from our hotel.

They've ordered everything from sushi to fried shrimp or smoked fish from the case or creamed herring, so much to choose from. Our server was so friendly and brought out menus quickly since it was self seating. The outside seating was the perfect spot for some people watching and generally enjoying the weather. Now in terms of the food.. we enjoyed the little pickle platter. Unfortunately it came out much earlier than the rolls and we were quite hungry so we ate most of them before our rolls came out. They would have been great pairings with the rolls themselves. The kabocha squash roll was so unique and surprisingly tasty. A sweeter creamier roll for sure. The salmon skin roll was a nice savory balance to the squash roll. I'd have to say the salmon skin roll was my favorite. We'll definitely be back to try some of the other rolls!

And this review is after that experience, so we can compare and contrast things like pricing and quality. When you come here you must bring a loaded wallet. To try a sour beer or any of their Russian River beers, (which was a surprise to us that there even was beer coming out of Russian River, a place I love for wine) .... is $19 for a bottle. And if you've never tried a sour beer and no one likes it, there are no returns. You pay your money and you take your chances. They are creative at The Joint. I mean an eel roll with macadamia nuts is a brilliant twist on sushi. The second thing we try is their soft shell crab roll. Delicious. Everyone at the table 'seconds' these comments. I ask someone on the way in, seated at a table eating sushi if it is good. He says: "I'll let you know". Later, he comes back to our table to let me yes! It's really good". So is this a good place to go for Sushi? The answer is yes. Is it a little confusing as an asian fusion place to have so many diverse choices? The answer is yes, but I also admit I do like all the options. Again, they call their Happy Hour food 'Tapas'. Is that Spanish, or is it just me? Japanese fried chicken or an arugula salad or oysters? lol Your taste buds must travel all over the place and that's hard on the palate and my headspace of 'what am I eating'? Is it overpriced? The answer is yes! And if I'm being honest, it surprises me that no one else on yelp is mentioning this. If money is not an issue and you want good sushi, our group recommends trying The Joint. Just don't count on happy hour having happy prices. $4 for an oyster is not happy! It's regular priced. Maybe even over priced for a happy hour menu where oysters come in at $1 and $2 for happy hour. And today, they are all out of oysters. lol We usually just tell you what to order when you go to a restaurant. This is the first time we have felt the need to let you know what you're in for, price wise. Sorry to the wonderful staff and great chef. No idea why they need to represent themselves as 'happy hour noon - 6pm every day', leading me to believe there is good pricing. But it's not my zoo, not my monkeys.
