Dropped by this afternoon for a quick lunch. They have a lunch special menu I think from 12 to 4pm. Depending on the rolls, you can get 2 rolls and miso soup for $15.95 I got the spicy tuna and Philly rolls. With an order of Jasmine blackberry iced green tea. Sushi roll taste fresh and was yummy. Tuna wasn't very spicy which was a plus for me. I don't know what I was thinking, ordering a blackberry iced green tea when I don't even like green tea. I was probably trying to drink something healthy-ish. The taste didn't fit my preference but I imagine someone who enjoy tea would like it. Service was friendly and fast. The place wasn't crowded on a Thursday around 1pm. There was 2 occupied tables inside and about 2-3 occupied tables outside. Seems to have a relaxed atmosphere. Parking seems to be parallel parking only. So that can be rough. I did walk here from work. Delicious as always. I have been an avid Sushi Lounge goer since 2017. The food is outstanding (in my opinion), and I always leave this place feeling full and happy. I call it the post sushi peace. I met up with a friend on a cold Monday evening at Sushi Lounge Point Loma. In the past, I had ordered delivery, and gotten takeout, but it was my first time eating in the restaurant. It was the perfect night for miso soup and hot sake. We chose to sit in one of the cozy booths inside to warm up. Parking was easy on a Monday, as we were both able to easily pull up in front of the restaurant on the street. I have noticed that it can be a bit challenging on weekends, as there is no private lot. We were readily greeted by our server who was prompt and polite. She took our order, but as we had only decided on part of the order, she stopped by periodically to check on our water and our sake, and to see if we needed any more food. It is a casual place, not fancy at all, but clean and comfortable. It was half-off chronic roll night. It was good, but I don't always want a sushi roll with that many different items. I liked the jaimepeno, which is a Japanese style stuffed jalapeño. I would definitely order that again. My friend also got a couple of hand rolls which looked amazing, but I had no room left to try them. All in all, it was a very nice experience. Have been coming here with family for the past 3-4 years, especially during happy hour. Went back recently and the quality of the rolls has gone down a bit. The size of the rolls have gotten bigger with the increase of rice they put causing a disproportion of rice to fish ratio. The quality of rice was subpar as it falls apart from the roll. The albacore and chronic roll were probably the only ones that kept it together after dipping it into soy sauce. Despite this, I will say Sushi Lounge is a great neighborhood place within walking distance to get cold sake or a draft beer after work and sit outside or enjoy a game at the bar. Do not order pick up / take out here. Their estimated times are twice what is advertised (two rolls took 40 minutes to be ready for pickup) and they will treat you like dirt if you show up and expect your order to be on time. The attitude can only be described as hostile. The door greeter ignored me and the sushi chef made the sloppiest roll I've ever seen and LITERALLY threw it in a container. This is my go-to Sushi stop for quick down and dirty lunch. The sushi is always fresh, especially the sashimi hamachi yellowtail. The lunch specials are equally as fresh and delicious, and are very inexpensive compared to the higher end sushi places around town Nicole is our favorite waitress, as she is all business, knows exactly what we want, and delivers what we ordered fast and friendly. She always has a cold Asahi beer waiting for us when we roll in with a huge appetite. I highly recommend checking out the lunch specials as they are inexpensive, fresh, and delicious. Don't forget to sign up for their members discount program they have, as it will send you a free roll or $10 off quite frequently You'll have to ask your server to remember to add it to your bill when you check out, or you will miss out on the discount. Visited this place since it's located right next to where I was staying at. For those staying nearby, the walk is super quick! I entered and was given the option to eat inside or outside. It was a little too chilly so I sat inside, but the outside is amazing. Such a beautiful place and weather. Service was quick and friendly! My waiter made sure that I was all good to go and answered any questions I had. I was in the mood for a simple roll so I ordered the shrimp tempura roll. I know, it's basic BUT it was so tasty! They had a sort of spicy mayo on top that really went well with the roll. Just the perfect balance of sweet (from eel sauce) and savory/spicy (mayo sauce). :) I wish I had the chance to try out other dishes but it was just me this time around. If you want to wait an hour and a half for take out while the staff fully ignores you then this is the place to go! Manager hiding from a bunch of angry guests. They said it takes 15 minutes to get food if you sit at a table but if you want take out it is an hour. Well I ordered take out an hour and a half ago and still don't have any food. The bus boy, and male waiter were more friendly than her. ***** As my son was eating his chicken teriyaki bento box, he pulled out a HAIR! I was shocked and disgusted. This used to be the go to spot for sushi and never disappointed. Over the years it's fallen but have continued to go because my partner still loved their rolls. Each time I've been disappointed with their inconsistency. They do have a great lunch deal and its a great bargain. You essentially get soup and 2 rolls for the price of one. The sushi is good and fresh. It hits the spot, nothing great but it does the job. Most recently I tried their roll of the month which was ceviche and it was meh. For the lunch special I still recommend it but for the flavor and taste its a alright. Nothing I hate more is a place that is inconsistent. I requested a different table when we first walked in but they said no those are reserved for others.
