We ordered: Kaki Tori (fried oysters) Chirashi Don Chicken Teriyaki The prices on the menu don't seen expensive but the portion are actually small. The fried oysters appetizer comes with 2 tiny fried oysters sliced in half. The sushi are thin sliced in the chirashi don. Chicken Teriyaki looks great but the teriyaki is very salty and a portion of the rice somehow was soaked in water and meshed. The only positive thing that I can say about this place is the good service, therefore I rate it 2 stars instead of 1. read more

This place is tucked away in a small section of a plaza. The place is small but the sushi certainly makes up for it. The hostess was attentive. I eat at this wonderful family owned establishment at least twice a week when I am in town. The food always comes out fast, the food has always been delicious, and the service has always been off the charts friendly! It is a GD awesome experience in this cesspool of a year where delicious food delivered in a responsible manner is at a bloody premium! I happened to be in the other night that is mentioned in another recent review. You will know the review when you see it...I really wish customers could be given a rating because D.G ruined my entire meal with her incessant cackling and loud boasts of "power." I do agree that food should be sent back if there is a concern but what was happening in this reverse scene from Fantasia, was this party eating most of their food and sending it back for reasons akin to "the glass for this ice water is too cold..." While, that wasnt exactly the statement, it might as well have been. My husband and I really liked the sushi here. We only eat cooked sushi but it was sooo good! We had the Old Alabama roll, and shrimp tempura roll. I brought my friend there today and she loved it. (She's very critical of Sushi restaurants) She had shrimp ramen and it was amazing! And now she's bringing her husband back. My first time here, the sushi tasted different but in a good way. The rice tasted fresh and light and everything just melts inside your mouth. We have ordered from this place on GrubHub and have been fine with it but if you are going to go to the restaurant do not expect good service. We ordered a Ramen dish and asked for it to be medium and they served it spicy so we sent it back which was fine but then when we said that the fish in the sushi was not fresh they yelled at us. The owner of the restaurant had to calm his daughter down who is the server who refused to take it off of our bill. She yelled at us. How was that OK? To yell at a customer who says the food is not fresh? We were actually nice about it but she was not. Let's face it, we both could've handled that better. The take away for yelpers, it's a crapshoot what you're going to get if you don't like your food. don't send it back because you may get yelled at. And for the record I did not get angry until she came out to yell at me. I was doing fine with her father who very politely agreed to take the food back. And we did not complain about unfresh fish we complained about smelly food. The tempura shrimp smelled bad I did not want to put that in my mouth. Sending it back is OK. Placed an online to-go order on Tuesday night 6/25 at 7pm. Received a confirmation email that the food would be ready in 20 minutes. Showed up 5 minutes early, when I walked in no one acknowledged me. That's fine, I was early so I sat on the couch next to the door to wait. Three tables out of ten available were occupied in the restaurant and all either had food or were finished eating. One person at the sushi bar and one person picking up a Togo order as well. The person with the Togo order received his order and they apologized for the wait. As he left two young ladies walked in and were greeted immediately and offered a table by the server who was attending to her tables. Another server was standing at the back computer by the Togo orders the entire time staring out at the tables, not really doing anything. I walked to her and she greeted me, I told her I had a Togo order for our name and she stated "oh I canceled that." I responded with "what? Why?" She proceeded to get a tablet and "swear she cancelled it". I asked why again. Her response was "we're too busy, only two servers and one chef." Three current tables and one new table, four tables total, and two servers and one chef can't handle that? As I said, the three previous tables either had food or had already eaten. To make matters worse I watched a guy leave with a Togo order while I was waiting! And there was another Togo order ready for pickup right in from of me! If they were so busy why was this server just standing at a computer and not helping? Why was our order Togo order cancelled when others were allowed? No phone call to let us know so we don't drive there, we hadn't even received an email that it was cancelled. My assumption is that it wasn't cancelled until I arrived they just didn't want to make it for whatever reason. This is terrible hospitality and service. This was our first experience and we were very much looking forward to it. We will not be back and we will definitely warn people to stay away. So sad. read more

So the place is small and most of the tables were full, there was a table for 2 sandwiched between 2 other couples and we opted to wait for another table to be cleaned. Maybe 10 minutes later, the waitress(the only waitress finally busted the table). She apologized for the delay but I would have recommended that she addressed the messy table sooner than later (instead of having us stand in what felt like the middle of the floor, no area to sit and wait)... strike one. We placed our order, when she brought our silverware it was plastic.. huh?? The place is not that big, why isn't there enough silverware to accommodate your patrons... strike two.. Tammi D & Kevin G have been recommending this place for a while so Chef Justin White and I and a non-yelper-friend (What? Those exist? Yes.) made the long journey to Alpharetta to try an amazing sushi place! Tammi & Kevin were right about this place. The owners and servers are amazing and always keep your drinks full and your spicy mayo at hand. I started with a seaweed salad which was awesome and then for our dishes Chef Justin White and I shared three different rolls. It was an awesome experience, because we just asked the server to basically surprise us. We gave them a guideline: types of fish, how spicy we want it, and if there are any ingredients we really want to have, and wallah! The most amazing sushi rolls appeared. I perused the menu, but I wanted to be spontaneous instead and I'm glad I trusted Tammi on this one. The first roll we had was the "tammi roll" named after Tammi D, a fellow super awesome Yelp Elite who is very picky about her sushi and therefore if she likes a sushi place you know it's going to be really good. It had lots of spicy mayo and sauteed onions. Kinda melts in your mouth. The next roll we tried was one where I told them I wanted cream cheese and avocado and it had roe on top and sauce. Awesome! The fish was really great too. The third roll we tried had shrimp on top and spicy tuna on the inside with roe on this one too. All the rolls were fantastic and I didn't need to read the whole menu to choose them. I think this place should add a "surprise me" option to the menu. It was such an awesome experience. I chanced upon a review of Sushi Mania in yelp and realized that this restaurant is not too far from my partner's residence in Duluth. There are already many good sushi places in Duluth/Johns creek are like Tokyo Shokudo, Blue fin, Osaka and Flying Roll. But there is no such thing as too many sushi places and naturally I had to try it. The restaurant is in a shopping complex at the intersection of Old Alabama rd and Jones Bridge rd. If you are driving on Old Alabama rd from medlock bridge rd, turn left at the shopping complex before the Jones bridge rd traffic light - you may not see the restaurant until you turned into the complex. Sushi Mania had originally been open in Brookhaven at the complex that has Kroger but last year due to Kroger's expansion(now it's bigger) they had to close but reopened at this current location. The restaurant itself is not a big one with only 7 to 8 tables, most of these are two chair tables and a sushi bar. When entered we noticed that most of the tables were filled with middle aged couples. We were seated and given menu promptly. We ordered following items 1) Japanese Ceviche 2) Deluxe Nigiri Sushi 3) Spicy Dynamite toro Roll 4) Special Spicy Rainbow roll Japanese Ceviche is serving of tuna, yellowtail, whitefish and salmon in ponzu dressing(Japanese chili oil, lemon juice, tomato, cilantro and red onion). We liked the dish - it was different, the fishes tasted good and the dressing lends itself well in elevating flavors, without masking the natural tastes of these different fishes. Except, we didn't think it was worth $12.90 - it wasn't that good. Deluxe Nigiri Sushi - It comes with 10 pcs of assorted nigiri sushi and 6 piece california roll. When we first saw this in the menu for just $15.80, we couldn't believe it! At most restaurants, 10 pcs of nigiri sushi plate starts at around $25. All the fishes tasted good but they were sliced thinner than at other sushi restaurants. For that price, it was no big deal. But what turned out a big deal for me was the taste of rice. Some sushi place don't season rice with enough vinegar, under-seasoning it. Here the rice was over-seasoned with vinegar to the point it was sour. It wasn't a problem with rolls, with so much other ingredients in it but I couldn't overlook it for nigiri sushi. Spicy dynamite toro roll - Spicy fatty tuna on a california roll ropped with Jalapeno. Yes, Jalapeno! the roll was spicy as it is and the plate also comes with sriracha based spicy sauce. So if you like more spice, dunk it and let your tongue be on flame. It was spicy, delicious and we couldn't get enough!. We also liked the Special spicy rainbow roll. The service was good here. The waitress was very attentive, made sure our hot tea cup was always full and when replenished ginger twice without even us asking. They are also open for lunch only on thursday and friday between 11.30 am to 2 pm. I really want to love this place, but the rice in nigiri sushi kind of spoiled it for me. My ultimate favorites are Yammy Crunch (must try this appetizer), Alaskan roll (it's not your typical alaskan roll!), Yellowtail Delight roll, Crunch Rainbow roll, Yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno, JAPANESE CEVICHE, and oh God I can go on... All the nigiri and sashimi fish are super fresh; try the albacore nigiri (comes with fried onion). The special plates are something you can't find anywhere else. They're unique recipes created by head chef Kenny. TIP: IF KENNY SAYS NO SOY SAUCE, DON'T USE SOY SAUCE. It tastes better that way. Ana remembers everyone... and when I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE. She will remember what you ate and what you felt about it. When you have a conversation with her, she won't just forget about it the next second (like most waitresses). She is so friendly. They are literally family to many. If you visit them frequently enough, they take care of you so well. The service is just superb. I'm so sad that I'm all the way in Athens now... Great Japanese food. I had crunch roll, kids had California roll, and we shared a mixed tempura entree. The food was presented nicely and tasted great! The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The staff actually made a recommendation for an entree that gave us what we wanted for a lower price than the per item method I was about to use. We had more food than we could eat and the price was surprisingly inexpensive. The only thing I'd recommend would be to add fountain soft drinks instead of the cans that we were given. Maybe their fountain dispenser is not installed yet since they just opened for business. The experience and the food was great! Looking forward to sampling more items in the future. read more

Very solid quality and fresh tasting sushi in the Alpharetta area. I stopped by this place after flying in for a work trip and enjoyed my experience. The atmosphere is typical sushi casual and I sat at the sushi bar watching the creations take place. Service was a bit slow as the waitress seemed a little overwhelmed and it took a while for items to come out. That said, I appreciated the complimentary edamame while I waited and the sushi rolls were worth the wait. I started with the spicy tuna on crispy rice which was excellent. Perfectly crispy rice and fresh tasting tuna. Next was the Alaskan Roll which was perfection. Heaping pieces of fresh fish, tightly rolled with a nice sesame sauce drizzle. After that was the Yellowtail Delight Roll - also excellent. The yellowtail was fresh (could have been a tad bit fresher but that's reaching best sushi ever levels) and the roll was again created perfectly. Just the right amount of ingredients and the right blend of flavors. I'll happily come back next time I'm in the area.
