    Salmon sushi - 04/20/2025
    Natasha F.

I ordered take out from here twice and it is always so fresh and delicious. Their salmon sushi is extremely fresh and my daughter's Tiger Roll was really good she ate all of it. I love their packaging as they use good quality containers. My Scallop Teriyaki dinner bento box was so good. I would definitely recommend it. Everything so well cooked and packed with care. I had ordered a curry fried rice with shrimp a month or so ago and that was so delicious along with their Thai iced tea. The salmon sushi dinner was really fresh and good as well. Would love to pay this establishment a visit as well for either a date night or family lunch or dinner.

3.5 stars. We were craving an AYCE and saw that they were offering it for only $20.99 per person (dinner, Monday-Thursday) so we decided to try this place. The restaurant was empty when we went on a Tuesday evening and we were seated right away. Strangely enough, the menu offers both Thai and Japanese food for the AYCE option. You place your order via the paper menu. The food is served quickly and in no time, we had all of the items we marked off on the paper menu. We ordered various sushi rolls, gyoza, edamame, kani salad, fried dumplings, popcorn shrimp, miso soup and chicken pad Thai. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the portions were kind of large for AYCE. The edamame and kani salad could be easily shared by a couple of people. And the pad Thai looked like a regular serving and not part of the AYCE menu. The popcorn shrimp was quite good. Shrimps were pretty large and cooked perfectly. The sushi was tasty although not the best quality. They charge $5 extra for sashimi and they don't give out any free scoop of ice cream like some other AYCE restaurants. Other than that, we definitely got our moneys worth with the AYCE and we were stuffed by the end of the meal.

That discolored thing in the roll on top is allegedly salmon; also note the roe pulp.

This is my go-to sushi place and has been for about three years, however, I may need to switch it up. Tonight, I ordered two miso soups, a shrimp shumai, four pieces of ikura and a salmon, squash and cucumber hand roll. Now, regardless of whether it was 49 minutes before closing time or someone was very tired, there was really no excuse for the quality of food that I got. The shumai tasted off and like old shrimp, the roe in the ikura was all mashed up and milky looking and one of the hand rolls had a piece of "salmon" in it that was clearly WAY past its prime (see picture). Really, the only salvageable food was the miso soup. I'd rather that they call and tell me they're out: this shows that someone absolutely favors profits over serving quality food that won't make you sick. Needless to say, that was an expensive, and final, mistake.

I enjoy their Thai food here. I usually order the Curry Samosas, Beef Drunken Noodles, Rock Shrimp, and Chicken Fried Rice. The takeout portions are on the smaller side. Depending on what you order you may not have any leftovers if you're sharing with two people. That's usually the case with my hunny and I so I take an L and give him the leftovers. Skip the sauce that comes with the Chicken Samosas. It's watery and extremely bland. I've also ordered what I thought was your regular sushi but it ended up being a Sushi hand roll instead of just a roll. Certainly not happy about it because it reminded me of a snow cone. I wouldn't order it again.

I really can't find anything wrong with this business. It's pretty simple and straightforward. You select what you want and they will bring it to you until you pop. Over and over. I love it. The sushi here is great and many options to choose from. No complaints

    3 Rolls Lunch Special

I've driven by Futigi a few times (it's on the corner of 164th St and 69th Ave) and I've been wanting to stop by. I was pretty far away at work so I ordered delivery. I was happy when I saw that they offered lunch specials! I opted for the 3-rolls lunch special - I got the salmon avocado roll, eel avocado roll, and shrimp tempura roll. This wasn't mentioned on the app, but this comes with miso soup. The rolls arrived a little disorganized (probably knocked around during delivery) but everything was there. I enjoyed the salmon avocado and the eel avocado roll the most. The salmon and the avocado were so fresh and the eel surprisingly did not come with tiny bones or loose scales (this is common when ordering eel at any sushi restaurant because the eel comes straight from a package precooked and it's hard to see the minuscule bones and scales under the dark sauce). The shrimp tempura roll was mediocre. The shrimp was pretty short so it didn't cover the entire length of the roll (5 pieces) so one piece I had was shrimp-less, just rice and seaweed. They drizzled a little bit of unagi sauce on it like they did with my eel avocado roll, but it was futile. The taste and texture of the shrimp tempura roll were just not hitting. It likely got cold from the 50 min delivery time so I didn't want to discredit the restaurant for that. This is getting 4 stars from me anyway because the other two rolls were fantastic and the price was good. (At the time of this review in March 2023, it's $14.50 for 3 rolls)

All you can eat sushi at a reasonable price. Includes specialty rolls which are quite good, and you can choose items other than sushi such as friend rice, teriyaki, edamame and much more. My only complaint is they charge you if you "waste"/ don't finish all your food. Kind of scares you into eating all your food or in my case prevented me from ordering different things to try.

Food: 4/5 Service: 0/5 Stopped by for a quick lunch on a rainy day. Ordered the salmon teriyaki box, and the food overall was good. Healthy portions at a good price. The miso soup came quickly. The salmon had a good flavor and the teriyaki sauce was delicious. The side salad and California were also by-the-book and great. Didn't like the texture on the shumai, but that's only my opinion. When I went in, nobody was there to sit me down except a couple of sushi chefs. I was at the table for maybe 5 minutes when the waitress came. Did not give me water, despite my asking. Did not come by even once. The restaurant wasn't even busy, there were maybe 2 other parties there, and I had no clue where the waitstaff was the whole time.

The sushi is okay and decent for a quick, cheap meal. ATTENTION: You should take advantage of their *LUNCH SPECIAL* served 7 days a week from 10:30-3:30pm! SPECIAL ROLL w/ miso soup = 2 rolls for ONLY $6.50 & 3 rolls for ONLY $8.00!!! Highly Recommended: Spicy Salmon Roll, Salmon Mango Roll, Ocean Roll (Salmon/Tuna) Yes, as you can tell, I am a major fan of SALMON hehe Anyhow, NO complaints - at least, the sushi did not upset my tummy since I have a highly sensitive stomach.

    Stephen L.

I ordered their 3 roll lunch special via grubhub and picked up the food based on the expected ready time. They were very punctual. When I came in, there wasn't a warm welcome but that doesn't steer me away from trying new and different foods. The food wasn't amazing nor was it bad. I didn't like that for some sushi pieces it had a bunch of rice which felt like I was just eating rice. I wouldn't pay regular price for their rolls because I don't think it's worth that much, but with their lunch special I would definitely give this place a try again.

I've been going to Futigi for many many years now. It's an underrated neighborhood gem. I don't live near there anymore but I still go back for my sushi fix. We ordered takeout from them today and it was still good when we got home.

My mother ordered the chicken noodle soup with chicken broth, but it was disappointingly flavorless. Even worse, the chicken was incredibly tough. I ordered the Tom Yum noodle soup and, despite having other protein options, chose the chicken because the photo made it look delicious. Boy, was that a mistake. The chicken in my dish wasn't quite as tough as my mother's, likely because the meat was added afterward rather than cooked in the broth from the start. Still, it was far from tender. To their credit, they were extremely generous with the portion of meat, but my mother's chicken was tough as nails. I'm giving this place three stars because I genuinely think our choices didn't showcase the restaurant at its best. A couple of days later, I ordered the duck salad and drunken noodles for takeout, and both dishes were actually quite good. Based on that experience, I'd definitely be willing to give them another try and explore more of the menu.

The main buffet area has a variety of veggies, fish and lobster balls, noodles, pork, seafood, chicken, and beef dishes, as well as a sauce and utensils bar. The neighborhood is quite diverse with the types of stores and cuisines for the restaurants in the area so I was not sure if it would be authentic Thai food or not. The restaurant is located on a big street where several bus lines run, but it is very easy to find parking in the residential areas nearby. I came on a Tuesday evening and was able to find free parking directly in front after 7 pm. The location is Oakland Gardens which is a perfect in between Fresh Meadows and Bayside area. My friend and I decided to come here before our movie at AMC theatres. The place is quite small and they do accept reservations so I highly recommend making one. Amongst the 6 of us, we shared 4 appetizers and we each got our own entrees. It was the perfect amount of food. For appetizers, we ordered the zaab Chicken wings (4 pieces), chicken skewers (4 sticks), curry puff (3 pieces), and the fried calamari. The zaab Chicken wings are a perfect Thai Chile lime dried rub that is so delicious! I was reluctant to order the chicken skewers, but my friend really wanted to try. I was shocked! It was on par with my favorite chicken Satay from my favorite Malay restaurant. Perfectly tender with the perfect peanut dipping sauce. The curry puff is very good as well with a perfect amount of curry spice and potatoes filling. The fried calamari was decent - no complaints! As for entrees, we all ordered something a bit different. I was in between 4 different entrees and I'm glad my friends ended up ordering some of it so I got to try. The pad Thai, pad see ew, and crab fried rice are standard with full flavors. The basil fried rice was very smokey and good. The tom yum Noodle Soup is also very flavorful with lots of char Siew type of meat and ramen type noodle. Lastly, we were all pretty stuffed but we wanted to try the mango sticky rice so we shared amongst the 6 of us. It is a seasonal item (usually summer) and the rice comes in a beautiful butterfly pea purple-blue color. The mangoes are perfectly riped with a rice crunch and coconut drizzle. It was so good! And forgot to mention - we did order the Thai iced tea and it met my expectations (especially when I asked for less milk!) The Thai iced coffee has an interesting chocolatey after taste to it. My friends liked that it was strong. Would definitely be back if I'm craving some Thai Food!

I really like the quality of the food here. It's comparable to some good authentic thai restaurants in the city. They also give a condiment to go with it, which I didn't really like (it's like pepper, onions, etc. in diluted water or something??) Pad Kee Mao- I've ordered this in the past. It is definitely good BUT as some reviews mentioned, they do skimp on ingredients. In this case, it was the rice noodle itself: Way too many veggies Pad Thai- I had the chicken pad Thai.
