I have been sitting here for 15 minutes, no dish for wasabi/soy, no one has asked if I would like something to drink, and I have literally had one plate of food with the second one only sitting in front of me waiting for condiments. The food today is still pretty good, but this is based on one plate and appearance only. There is two waitstaff that I can see and although it's important to clear and clean space for customers coming in, what about the customer who is sitting here waiting. It's seriously the worst service. The two people that were sitting next to me ordered their drinks and didn't get them from her for sometime until they asked for them from the other waitress. Our first and last visit to Sushi Moto. The Fish House next door was busy so we decided to try some sushi. There were no other customers inside at the time on dinner time Friday, that was the first red flag. After being seated, most of the items on the conveyor seem to have been there for a while. We tried a couple things but ordered from the menu. The tempura vegetable was okay but the ramen noodles was over cooked and seem like the instant noodles you would buy at the store, nothing special, so that was a huge disappointment. This place is below average. Sushi was not fresh. Tasted "fishy" which is an indicator of not so fresh fish and the rice was crusty. Even when we ordered "new" sushi off the menu such as volcano roll - still received hard, cold and old sushi rice pieces. They have a happy hour every Tuesday where each plate is 1.25 with a purchase of a drink and when we got there the place was practically empty. By the time we left we were the last ones there. Me and my family are regulars there, and we normally dont have anything wrong with the place. The people are really, really nice and the hostess is a friendly face to come into. But in our latest trip there, it wasn't as good as normal. They where still extremely nice, but the food wasn't as good, smaller portions, like even in a roll I got, the avocado was brown, and there was even bugs crawling and flying everywhere. There was even one in one of the closed plates of food crawling around. The pot stickers where really cold and soggy, and lots more that made this a overall disappointing experience and Sadly, we probably won't be coming back. Went into the restaurant, the interior is nice but I got two major things to talk about. First the service: I got in and got seated. Every 3 minutes they kept asking me what do you want, and trying to rush my order. Second: the food was horrible! I ordered the Mt. Helen and they brought me 8 pieces. Each piece contained the most tiniest piece of salmon I ever saw being served, the proportions were 5% salmon, 75% rice, %20 avocado. The avocado is a whole another story, you take a bite into the roll and It feels like they put a tiny rock, it was not even ripe! You get the roll and they mess two out of three thing up. But the worst part is when I tried telling them that, they looked at me like I was just trying to make things up to just not pay for the food. Please guys, don't risk it! If you want to eat some sushi, go somewhere else, because It is hard to trust a person your food if they server raw ingredients and they can't tell the difference between ripe and not ripe avocado. read more

Our first impression here was wonderful- fresh sushi great prices. Unfortunately the more we frequented, the worse the quality of the food became. The sushi roll that used to come hot was now half warm and half ice cold. Likely pulled out of the fridge. Defeats the purpose of ordering a hot roll if they give you a cold one instead. This last time the hot roll was completely ice cold. The whole order tasted like it had been standing out all day; hard rice, you can definitely taste the difference in freshness. We went here on a weekday afternoon and understood that at conveyor sushi places, you're not guaranteed to get the freshest sushi depending on how long the restaurant allows the food to circle. Apparently this place has no limit as I have never seen such limp, small and old sushi being offered at any place I've ever eaten. Day old Grocery store sushi looked 100 times better than what was offered here. The prices are outrageous for what you get! The individual sushi size itself is about 1/3 of what you might get at a standard middle of the road non -conveyor belt restaurant. The rice was overcooked and in some cases ... crunchy???? The egg rolls looked and tasted as if they had been there a year or so just traveling around in circles degrading and spoiling. After not finishing 4 choices between the two of us we thought about walking out but decided to ask the chef to make us some (what we thought) fresh sushi. Our requested choices were delivered with near frozen and tasteless fish on top of a little ...crunchy... serving of rice. 30 bucks between the 2 of us and we didn't finish one of the six plates we took a chance on. I'm not a fan of conveyor belt sushi - I have never understood why people love this type of place but if the offerings are kept fresh - I usually don't mind. This is by far the worst experience I've had at a sushi restaurant. We got here at 7, the belts all had old sushi rolling on them, so we ordered fresh plates. One of the chefs just picked up a dragon roll off the belt and put it on the counter sat there for a couple minutes and then tried handing it back to us. I handed it back and asked for a fresh one like I ordered and he had a guilty look on this face. And then my server heard me say that so instead she took two plates of gyoza off the belt and took them in the back. She came out five minutes later carrying the same color plates but the gyoza had clearly been heated back up. I asked her about it and she lied to my face. It's not the best nor the worst in the area, if you were looking to get a lot of descent sushi for a reasonable price this was the place, of the lower range sushi place this was a good pick. Tonight it was terrible. We got there at 7PM were sat, there was little selection on the conveyor, no problem it was a slow night. So they gave us a order slip to fill out. 10 minutes later she came to pick it up. The stuff that was on the conveyor didn't look too great so we just ordered 5 plates to see how that was. It took 10 minutes to get the first plates, they did not look fresh. I ordered Salmon Sushi, it was sliced so thin! Then 5 more minutes for the next plate, and it went on like this. The reason we go there is their stuffed Jalapeno, it used to be a whole pepper, sliced in half and stuffed with Krab, breaded and fried. Not you are served 2 quarters of a pepper. HAHA that's a joke. After just three of our order came we decided it quit and leave. When I was paying, the lady could see we weren't pleased. She asked "You don't like sushi?" I replied "I love it, I just wasn't very happy with what I got tonight, we used to love this place not so much anymore". To that she gave some excuses about they close at 9 and don't put out a lot of stuff at this hour. Mind you it was two hours until closing. Because of this, you can get a wider variety of dishes as compared to others which know they will sell more of the bland $1.00 plates. I've been to this location several times and I am always surprised at the variety it has for being a conveyor track. I've been to many other places whose offerings are standard and minimal, but each plate circling the room has been carefully addressed and adorned, as if it was specially ordered. I always order volcano rolls, dragon rolls, and caterpillar rolls, and even if it's a special order it's $1.75 a plate! They also have a happy hour on Tuesday that brings plates down to $1.25 if ordered with a beverage. Even on the busiest of days I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a seat, and If you're wondering the difference between this and competitor sushi places in the area? Had high hopes but was disappointed to see a belt full of deep fried everything, rolls dripping in overly sugary sauces and that damned mayo/crab mixture I see everywhere in a good 75% of what was on offer. There was barely a fresh vegetable in sight aside from the occasional slice of avocado. Sushi meant to be served cool was warm and fish best warm was cool. It's easy to become a regular here when Sushi Moto offers a special every Tuesday: all plates are only $1 (as opposed to their regular $1.75) with the purchase of a drink. Honestly, you can't beat that for cheap and tasty conveyor belt sushi! My family and I come here quite frequently on Tuesdays for their large variety of sushi rolls and delicious nigiri. The restaurant itself is very clean and decent-sized for conveyor belt sushi, although I wish the decor weren't so dark. The staff seems to be run primarily by a Korean family, and they are friendly and always ready to serve you. At times it is difficult to get the attention of a server, but the chefs occasionally ask if we need anything which is much appreciated (one chef in particular, sporting a mustache and headband, is super nice and funny). As for food, Sushi Moto serves up fresh and great quality sushi as well as a wide range of specialty dishes. My personal favorites are the salmon, eel, and fried fish nigiri, as well as the katsu, cucumber salad, and mussels. Many of the rolls seem to depend on crab salad and spicy mayo which I'm not too fond of (I'm a nigiri person) but nevertheless they are still delicious. The specialty plates are a little pricy but look very appetizing. I wouldn't recommend the ramen though, it's overpriced and something you could easily make at home. read more

I went to get some sushi from here and the service was great and the sushi tasted okay but later on that night I started to feel my stomach rumbling and I knew it wasn't good. I immediately start running for the toilet and start shitting water like I was pissing. I think that it was odd but didn't question it like it was something weird. But no, every half hour for the rest of the night I am going to the toilet to piss water out of my asshole, I can't even explain the burning. By the next day, my trash can was full of puke and I was almost out of toilet paper. Thankfully, it stopped, I was able to get some more toilet paper just in case. Best conveyor-style sushi in the 'Couve! We've been here at least a dozen times, different days and different times of day, and the thing I've been most impressed with is the consistency. Sushi Moto is your typical sushi on a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. I'm giving Sushi Moto three stars because I don't want to be too hard on them yet. They just opened and still seem like they're trying to figure things out. First the good. The sushi was ok, not bad but not great. Now for the not so good. From the moment we walked in the staff seemed a bit disorganized,, like they didn't quite know how to run a restaurant. I'm chalking it up to them just opening and still working out the kinks. That being said the soy sauce on our table was nearly empty and no waitress came by so we were forced to go foraging to other tables for a fresh bottle. It was about fifteen minutes into our meal before a waitress appeared to finally bring some water. I was a little disappointed with the selection of sushi rolls parading by on the conveyor belt. It seemed to be the same four or five types of rolls and they were predominately surimi rolls. I really like tuna rolls and consider them a basic sushi roll but not a single tuna roll came by the entire time. There wasn't any spider rolls or dynamite either. Went to try this place out on a Tuesday, in the middle of lunch hour, and so it was extremely busy (also because their plates are a dollar on this day). I agree that since this place is new it seemed like the servers weren't really in place. They probably just need to start a waiting list to avoid confusion with who was waiting first and be more attentive to the guests who are there and not who will be there in the future. They seemed to be busting tables more rather than checking in on customers. We ordered sodas and finally needed refills. Turns out they don't give free refills, but the least they could have done was let us know about that and offer water if we didn't want any more soda. As for the food, it tasted good and there is always a variety. I'd recommend getting the covered plates or ordering fresh because I had the unfortunate experience of grabbing a plate that had dried rice because it had been sitting out. When I discovered its existence, I noticed a couple more plates like it. Because of the bigger variety they offer, I would definitely be coming back (mainly on Tuesdays). My favorites so far at Sushi Moto are the tower, the dynamite, mt. hood, stuffed mushrooms and the avocado/shrimp/crab salad roll topped with sweet chili sauce. read more

Went there today for the $1.25 plates on Tuesday (when you buy a drink). If you have ever been to Sushi Hana on Mill Plain, this is pretty much the same exact restaurant, with a newer interior. Either they have the same owner, or they just wanted to imitate a working model. First, let me say you get what you pay for. If I actually wanted good sushi, I'd pay more than a $1.25 a plate. That being said, the sushi is good for the price. I would rate it five stars, but the service wasn't the best. I wanted a refill of my drink (I normally just drink water when I go out but since I had to buy a drink, my goal is to try and drink at least a gallon of soda). It was busy, so I understand having to wait a little, but when the waitress finally approached me, I asked for a refill and the check. She nodded her head, counted my plates, gave me my receipt, and then walked off. I didn't get a refill the entire night, so it wasn't like she was finally cutting me off. All in all the sushi isn't bad, but don't eat here and then get upset when your dollar sushi doesn't taste the best. Trying to order Sushi from the chefs was impossible, and when I asked our server for to have a roll made, she asked why I wasn't asking the chefs. The struggle was indeed real. I have been here a couple of times before, but it has been probably about a year, maybe more. The service is okay, and the guys behind the counter are attentive enough. The food is another story. My four-year old daughter and I arrived around 6:00pm on a Monday night, and the conveyor belt was mostly filled but the restaurant was far from. EVERYTHING I picked up, even the seafood I had them prepare fresh, was on the warm end of room temperature. Bleh.
