Service is terrible. They only have 1 waiter. If the owner wants his business to flourish, staff your restaurant appropriately.

If I could give zero stars I would! Where to begin...I went with my mom during their "happy hour" and ordered a roll, crispy rice, tea, 3 orders of garlic edamame and a seaweed salad. Happy hour reads "1/2 off appetizers" and then lists the appetizers included in that promotion. We get the bill and none of the appetizers were discounted. When we ask the server about it she replies "oh yeah let me take care of that" she comes back to say "oh did the other server not explain the appetizer deal is only if you buy alcohol". I say no problem and I go grab the menu to see what I missed to make that mistake. I re-read everything and I don't see where is says that you have to buy alcohol. I bring this to the attention of our server and she says that she's going to bring the manager. He comes and this is where it gets bad! I explain to him what I'm reading and he responds by laughing at us, looking around with a face of "can anyone believe what I'm hearing right now, these customers must be stupid". He then proceeds to say that he has never had anyone "complain" about this. He then goes on for about 10 minutes about why he is correct and we are wrong. To make this more clear, the happy hour is listed in 3 green boxes with all the options and huge red lettering to attack your attention. Under the 3 green boxes there are the restaurant hours (in small print and visually separate) and then under that in the same print it says "DINE IN ONLY: 1/2 off appetizers with the purchase of alcohol". I explain to the manager how the description doesn't delineate that it applies to happy hour and that it seems to relate to the business hours implying that anytime you order an app and alcohol you get the apps for half off. He also says that because we ordered garlic edamame it does not apply to happy hour and only regular edamame are included. I look on the menu and garlic edamame are not even listed on the menu and in the green boxes (where all of the exclusions are listed) it does not say anything about garlic edamame. He proceeds to talk in a condescending and disrespectful way to us. Everyone in the place is well aware of this and he doesn't let up. I then tell him that I'm going to pay the check, however he fought tooth and nail for 10 dollars (yup it was just a difference of 10 dollars) just to make us very unhappy and to generate a horrible Yelp review. He said he didn't care and that he welcomed the review. And so there you have it! The worst interaction I have ever had with a restaurant. Glendora isn't exactly a mecca for great restaurants and there is very little choice. We have dined in and ordered take-out a few times, but only because it is conveniently located in the Glendora Village and there isn't another nearby Sushi place. The key word for Sushi n'I is inconsistency -- in everything Service: Hit and miss, waiters and owner make lots of mistakes on the orders and then you get attitude from the staff. Waiters need some customer service training. Food: Major inconsistency in the preparation, portions, quality and presentation. We have tried almost all the rolls and a some of the entrees -- they're just ok, pretty standard, but nothing special or particularly delectable. Pricing: Specialty rolls are more costly than at much better Sushi restaurants in Los Angeles. Parking: Ample street parking. In essence, it is just ok for Americanized Sushi, but I wouldn't recommend this establishment or go out of my way to eat here. read more

I came here for the teriyaki chicken because I really don't eat raw fish. I usually go to Kabuki's but since I don't work close to Kabuki's anymore so I decided to try this place. Bad idea! I was looking forward to the chicken teriyaki. The Miso soup the salad and the vegetable tempura were okay but let me tell you about the chicken teriyaki. It was so gross! I wouldn't even feed it to my dog, that's how bad that was. It tasted like it was white breast strips that were precooked and then frozen and then cooked again to be warmed up. Disgusting! Never again. Please use fresh raw chicken and cook it when ordered, not days before. read more

So excited to have a nice clean Sushi Bar in the Village! With that said they've got a great selection of Rolls and the Lunch Specials are a great deal, I got the popcorn lobster roll and the crunch roll both were hearty portions that I couldn't finish and also just downright good! This restaurant is a really tough place to review, because I think the food is great (although I must admit I am not a real sophisticate when it comes to Japanese food or sushi). But I think the service here is just unacceptably bad. It's a bummer because we are within walking distance of this place and we would go here more often if they had their act together. We tend to order a couple of teriyaki plates for our daughters and then three or four rolls and then we just share everything. Quality and taste has been consistently really good in my opinion. What fatally detracts, however, is that often things are missing--water, silverware, napkins, ginger, wasabi....stuff you actually need to begin eating and enjoying the meal. You will ask for it and it takes them five minutes to get it (as your food cools) or they will forget completely. This has now happened multiple times. I think they are a family business and they are cutting corners with thin staffing--and the customer gets the short end of this deal. On more than one occasion the waiter has seemed indignant when we asked a second time or asked for him to hurry. I guess since it is not his $60 or $70 he is spending on lunch it really doesn't matter to him, but we can't justify spending that kind of money for a weekend lunch to have a negative experience. I may go in once or twice more and if I can identify the owner I will tell them directly of my perception. My wife and kids have already decided they don't like the place because the lack of service creates a tense and negative vibe. But it is a shame because this restaurant comes close to being a real asset to the community. read more

I have been to this restaurant 4 times now, and can honestly say that the sushi is subpar at best. It either does not have much flavor or tastes too fishy and not fresh. This last time I got food from this restaurant my mother got ill within an hour of eating which suggests to me something was bad. I cannot say whether the cooked food is good or not, but if you are going for Sushi I would stay away from this restaurant. You are better off going to Miyako Sushi on Route 66. This place is great!!!! The service is great and the sushi was amazing!!! I highly recommend it. The server recommended a great roll which was my favorite thing we ordered. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was good but they do the rice in a flat really crispy way that is different than most sushi places. Still good but I prefer a more traditional one. The fish was super fresh. Love that they have the kids draw on the paper table clothes on top of the table clothes. Our 8 year old loved that. I would go here weekly. Really great!!! read more

Service appeared to be fast when taking the drink order then the food order. But once we finished eating no one came to see us or clear out plates. We had to flag someone to clear the table. As for the food, the short ribs were good. The fish came with a cheese sauces. Really, a cheese sauce! Fish would have tasted better without the sauce. To sum this place up in one word: mediocre 1. The staff weren't knowledgable in sushi basics. I asked our waiter what type of tuna they were serving and he didn't know. The owner came back and said it was from Hawaii. I ordered California Rolls with real crabmeat. I asked what type of Crab it was and they didn't know. Not even the owner knew. 2. The water tastes god awful. Even the waiter knew it. It can't be healthy to be consuming water that tastes that bad. We were charged for bottles of water. 3. Best sushi I've ever had! Paul, the owner, is such a great guy. He came up with all his own sauces and the sushi is always so fresh. I actually have a hard time eating it anywhere else- it just never compares to here. I love anything spicy tuna (tar tar, and the hot night roll are my favorite), but all their rolls are delish. He has a spicy orange chicken that is unique and it's my husband's favorite. I would definitely try this place if you haven't... you won't be able to eat anywhere else after! The Waiters/waitresses are hustling and care- they're working hard to make it good for you, even when they're really busy. I crave this sushi and eat here almost once a week! read more

I discovered Sushi n I a few months ago, and have been there several dozen times since. Their raw fish is always fresh, the pieces are a good size. They season their sushi rice, as it should be. Many restaurants don't season theirs at all. The service has always been very good. The waiters are friendly and engaging. The owner, Paul, stops to say hello, to patrons he seems to recognize. If you want to have enough left overs for another day, order the 49.99 special!! You can't imagine how much food is included. Their Amber roll is great, as is all of their sushi!! read more

Very impressed on my first visit! Downtown Glendora is getting so much better. I ordered my staple, California Rolls so you can't really mess that up. But the atmosphere on a Saturday night was nice. My husband and I took a bike ride and ended up in Downtown Glendora. We didn't really want to eat anything, but I mistakenly sat on their chairs outside while waiting for my husband. The waiter came out and asked if I wanted to order, so we just did. The place is clean inside, the waiter was nice and their sushi, well that's another story. I order the Alaskan Roll, it wasn't all that, the salmon on top was falling apart. My husband ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and it was really good. I stopped in for a little "peaceful" dinner by myself this evening. I cannot tell you what a nice experience I had! I had the gangham roll and the (i totally forgot the name but it's the roll with a little bit of cilantro in it) both were really amazing as was the garlic edamame! But what's as important to me as good food is good service. The entire staff, my waiter and everybody else or just pleasant friendly and nice. It was a gorgeous evening and I was able to sit outside and "just be" and enjoy a good meal. This was a nice end to the day. read more

Good place for consistently good sushi. Service is usually very friendly and overall restaurant is very accommodating for children. Sometimes food is a bit creamier than I would like, but that is a personal preference type of thing. Ginger dressing on the salad is particularly good. This is a very well done restaurant. The food is extremely fresh, which, with sushi makes a big difference. They have a large selection of rolls and appetizers to choose from ( I really recommend the stuffed jalapenos, they were amazing). There are also a good amount of choices if you wanted some teriyaki. Both of the rolls I tried were excellent. The atmosphere is subtle and not overpowering. The warm colors and wood make for a very inviting eating environment. There was also some light jazz in the background which makes it very easy to talk to the people at your table. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and overall I highly recommend giving them a try. A great addition to Glendora. read more

I'm sad. We love that Sushi-n-i is right in down town Glendora, but were not coming here for lunch on a Sunday anymore. The food is great, but they're under staffed. There was only one other table eating when we arrived. We ordered 3 lunches that had 2 rolls each, a Bento box and beef teriyaki. The Bento box & beef lunches came out 1st and were nearly completely eaten before the rest of us received our 1st roll. 2 of the 6 rolls we ordered never came out. We were all done waiting so long that we asked for the other 2 rolls to go. They did offer ice cream to the kids as an apology. That's a nice gesture, but I wish we could have just enjoyed our entire meal together. :( read more
