My experience here was pretty intimate because we were the only two dining in the restaurant that night. The waiter was very attentive, and the sushi chef gave us a couple extra pieces because we were the only ones there. Each piece tasted fresh and it was a nice balance of charred pieces and fresh pieces. A lot of them also had some sauces on top to compliment the fish.

I was surprised to see Sushi on Jones at a new location, so close to Bowery. Sadly I ordered To Go but will definitely be back to try the omakase! The outside is inconspicuous and unobtrusive - once you go inside, it's dimly lit with soft lighting. There are bar seats as well and several smaller tables. I ordered the King Salmon maki roll x2 and the Spicy Tuna maki roll x2. The fish was fresh and the rice was perfect! Well packaged and I was in and out. Excited to come back!

Got to visit the newest sushi on Jones location & let me first say WOW. The aesthetic & attention to detail is so beautiful inside. The outside of the restaurant looks like a secret speakeasy. Perfect for a date night & great to have omakase while watching the sushi chef curate your pieces. The fish was incredibly fresh. The 12 course omakase is $68 and very affordable for the quality of fish you are getting. This crispy rice is some of my favorite in the city, the rice itself is the perfect amount of crispy w/ amazing fish on top. Miso soup was yummy! Star of the show was the caviar, wagyu & toro nigiri piece. Definitely worth the splurge. Highly recommend. We had the best service & wait staff was very personable + fun!

Solo day in NYC and the Mrs spun the wheel of destiny and said find a sushi spot. I landed on Sushi on Jones because it was literally a stones throw from my hotel. I ended up walking by it a few times until I realized there was a small lit sign with the restaurants name on it (very New York! lol). Walked in about 7:30p on a Thursday and I was surprised to be the only person in the restaurant. I honestly thought I walked in the wrong door. Then a server greeted me, and in fact reassured me that I was in the right spot and yes they were open. I just happened to be the first customer of the day. Sure, I'll take an entire sushi restaurant to my self! Let's just call it a VIP experience! Well when in Rome, you trust the chef. And that's what I did! I requested the chefs menu which was 10 pieces of whatever the chef decided...this was actually the first time I did something like this and it. Was. Amazing!! Every single piece elegant, tasty, beautiful, tasty! Unreal. I had proteins I've never tried before! I loved it. The chef absolutely took care of me. I hope that I just happened to go during a slower part of the week or day and that this place stays around! I'd love to take my wife when I get back to the city later this year. Thank you Sushi on Jones for the VIP experience lol!

miso soup with truffle, mushroom, and scallions: so good!

Pretty solid sushi spot. I came here for dinner with my boyfriend and had a great meal. Started things off with their Miso Soup with truffle, mushrooms, and scallions which was actually my favorite thing of the night. The truffle and mushroom were a nice addition to the miso flavor. Next we had the CrispyRice with Hokkaido Uni. Pretty good overall. We also shared the Spicy Tuna Maki, King Salmon Maki, and Blue Crab California Maki. Of those three I think my favorite was the spicy tuna. We ended the meal with the BigMac Maki, which wasn't my favorite. I think the mix of wagyu, toro, and uni just had too much going on all at once. I didn't get to appreciate the wagyu as much cause of the other seafood flavors. Overall, I had a pretty good meal here. Glad I got to check this place out.

Dropped in on this hole in the wall sushi spot within resys on a Friday night and were able to easily sit at sushi bar. Overall a very good experience but a few small things holding it back from 5 star nyc level. Pros - the twelve piece omakase tasting menu was delicious, nearly every piece was top notch - nice sake and beer menu - really cool vibes since it's really nondescript on the outside and you walk through and are surprised by how beautiful it is inside. Also like the clash of the Japanese simple and beautiful aesthetic with the louder modern music they were playing (mostly hip hop and r&b) Cons - our server was pretty terse and not friendly - it's slightly pricey for what you get. Flavors are great but nigiri pieces are on smaller end so I would hope for either lower price or bigger pieces.

Amazing and affordable omakase! Really high quality fish and great for omakase beginners! We loved sitting at the sushi bar and watching the chef work. In particular, the king salmon roe and scallop sushi were favorites. For $68, you get 12 courses of deliciously crafted sushi. You only get 45 min but it really doesn't feel rushed. Highly recommend!

I like the ambience here and how dark it was but Not super impressed with the sushi quality and food here. The sushi wasn't mind blowing. Service was okay. We did a la cart instead of the Omakase. The cake was really dry and my friend asked for it for their birthday and then they charged us which I get but.

Went for dinner on a Friday night. staff was amazing and very friendly. We were immediately greeted by Janno who took excellent care of us and attended to all our needs. Drinks were strong and delicious. We sat at the sushi counter and met Sushi chef Jo, who couldn't have been any better. Everything he gave us was delicious and provided so much background and knowledge on every single dish. The manager also came by to chat with us to make sure our experience was going well. Great date night and would recommend.

Got a reservation at the bar for dinner tonight, so we could get a good view of the sushi chef. It was quite entertaining. Our sushi chef was super friendly and on top of refilling my ginger! Ordered the 12 pcs/$58 omakase, which is very reasonably priced. The omakase started off with fluke, sea scallop, salmon, squid, Japanese sea bream, king salmon, bluefin tuna, sweet ebi, wagyu, salmon roe, blue crab, and finished with eel (see photos in the order it's listed). Then, ordered 2 extra rolls just in case we needed a little more food. We got the Californian blue crab roll and the salmon (see photos). Although, the price for 12pcs of omakase was reasonable but few pointers I would recommend. Instead of giving 2 different kind of salmon (which I couldn't tell the difference), I would rather pay a little more for uni substitution. The wagyu was slightly over cooked, so it didn't quite melt on the palate. Not to mention it was very anticlimactic to finish the omakase with eel. I've had omakase at other places and it had a an impressive ending to the prefix. Aside from these minor things, the omakase was well done for the price. The Japanese sea bream had a nice smoky taste and the ebi had a sweet, tenderness to it. Overall, I would recommend this place for a first date.

To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.

I've taken a lot of friends here over the course of 10 years, and without fail, every one of them has walked out mindblown--and why wouldn't they?! The wait times have gotten better over the years (probably because people are waiting for the restaurant next door), but the food and drinks here are still top-notch. Staff is always great, and they all work so efficiently. I am generally a fan of izakayas, but there are very few that offer plates that are designed to be shareable, and this is one of the reasons the food here is so enjoyable in a small group setting. I am obviously biased and think they can do no wrong, but some of my staples that have stood the test of time: Kimchi cream udon, avocado tofu salad, salmon sashimi tacos, and the kani cream croquettes. I was so excited when they opened an outpost in Flushing years ago, but sadly it shuttered during COVID. It is definitely small and there is always going to be a wait, so don't be those people who come in with a huge group during prime time because they like to move (getting customers in and out) very fast.
