    Green tea waffle

From a native Valley dude, this place is the best (esp if you're tired of over priced mediocre sushi in the area (including hoity toity Ventura Blvd) Quality, quantity, and service considered Sushi Ran is my go to. Ask for Jackie. P.S try the kimchi udon. As a Korean dude I was doubtful but it's pretty bomb. Oh yeah, for those into dessert their green tea waffle ain't bad at all.

Delicious sushi, sashimi, chicken teriyaki, and ramen for 20% off. I can't find a more flavorful sushi restaurant that also offers happy hour all day Saturday. Jackie's an excellent waitress and hostess!

    Big tuna roll

Tiny hole in the wall with chill ambiance and amazing food. We got it to go because they don't deliver to the Hilton Universal. No matter, it look less than 10 min to get there. Read the negative reviews about service with the short haired lady. She was there when I got there and even though she looked busy, she glanced at me and quickly said hello. A younger looking man came to help, they finished getting my order and that's all I can say about the location. Now the food, we got a dragon roll, big tuna roll I think and I forgot the last one but will post photos. Seaweed salad, mussels, and egg rolls. The salad was refreshing, 4 piece egg rolls were small but delicious, crunchy and very well made. The mussels looked like they had a lot of the mayo topping but it was just the perfect amount. Haven't had better mussels anywhere else. All the rolls were delicious. I don't normally eat crab rolls because they all taste the same to me. At this location it tastes fluffy and light. I'm kind of sad I live so far from this restaurant. Hopefully when I come back it's still around. We thought it was reasonably priced for the location.

Chirashi I'm honestly shocked about how good this is

I randomly came for lunch and was not expecting much. I was so blown away that I had to post a review. I came in at 12 and it was empty but decided to try anyway. I ordered the Chirashi bowl and it was gorgeous. The fish is beyond fresh and high quality...and I am usually very picky and have high sushi standards. Generous portions. Season Rice served on the side instead of under. They know what they're doing here. HIGHLY recommend.

Sushi Ran - A Culinary Journey to Japan! If you've ever dreamed of visiting Japan but your passport is currently collecting dust, look no further than Sushi Ran - the magical portal to the Land of the Rising Sun right in your neighborhood! From the moment you walk in, you are transported to a serene setting that feels like a zen garden. The calming music in the background is so soothing that you might just forget the stress of your workday. I half-expected a cherry blossom tree to pop up in the corner, but alas, I guess they'll save that for the grand opening of their new location. Now, let's talk about the service. When I walk in, it's like being greeted by long-lost friends who just happen to be incredibly polite and sweet. It's almost suspicious how nice they are--like they're plotting to take over the world with sushi! But if world domination means serving me endless plates of tantalizing sushi, count me in! Speaking of sushi, can we just agree that these folks have the expertise of sushi ninjas? The sushi here is so fresh that I half-expect my plate to swim away if I don't eat it fast enough! Whether you're a sushi enthusiast or still pretending that California rolls are exotic (we've all been there), you can never go wrong. Plus, their assortment of Japanese beers is a delightful bonus; it's like pairing sushi with a hug in a bottle! Now, let's get to the happy hour that literally makes my wallet and my taste buds rejoice! Happy hour at Sushi Run is not just an event; it's a celebration of life, love, and all things sushi and beer. It's so appealing that you might start planning your week around it, like it's an Olympic sport. But the shining star of my sushi experience has to be the teriyaki plate. The mere thought of it sends me into a nostalgic spiral, back to Japan where food is an art and every bite is a masterpiece. It's so delicious that I'm pretty sure I could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In conclusion, if you're looking for a restaurant that delivers top-notch service, heavenly food, and an ambiance that feels like a warm hug, Sushi Ran is your answer. Seriously, I love coming here so much I might just set up camp in the corner! Thanks, Sushi Ran, for making every visit an unforgettable adventure! P.S. If you see me dining in a kimono next time, just roll with it. I'm only trying to enhance the experience!

    Red Blossom Roll

Reviewing based on one of the no rice rolls (Red Blossom). I loved that there were no rice options available, but the balance was just off for me on this one. Way too much imitation crab meant the roll was really salty and the fish flavor was overwhelmed. That being said, service was lovely and fish was fresh.

This spot is a hidden gem & I can't wait to go back! The servers were so friendly and the environment was so clean. My friend and I opted for this dinner bento box where we picked 3 items that also included salad & miso soup. It was so filling & affordable too. Can't wait to try it again!

Stopped by this restaurant for a late dinner on Friday. My husband and I were seated promptly and our waitress was quick at taking our order. We were originally going to get a large sashimi plate and some roles, but decided to go for the medium plate of sashimi and ramen. The sushi chef must of heard us talking about their specials that they gave us a complimentary sample of one of the items, which was a yuzu fish sauce based salmon sashimi. It was really tasty. My husband's only complaint is that the waitress didn't bring us the actual bill before taking our card from our table so we were not sure what the total was, but overall the restraint was nice and the ambience was not too loud.

First time here. It wasn't too busy when we got there so service was fast. The good was really pretty good but you just can't beat the prices. Overall decent prices and decent food.

The standout was the Spicy Shrimp Wontons, which featured delicate, silky, the shrimp filling was perfectly seasoned, and the spicy chili sauce had just the right balance of heat, umami, and a subtle hint of sweetness, making each bite addictive. They were so good that I immediately ordered another serving to go. Honestly, I preferred these over Din Tai Fung's. The OG Ramen was deeply comforting and satisfying, with a rich, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles that held up well from start to finish. We also tried the takoyaki, which had a lightly crisp exterior, a soft, creamy center, and plenty of savory flavor, finished with classic toppings like bonito flakes, mayonnaise, and takoyaki sauce, tying all flavors together. The service was warm and attentive, making the entire experience. If you're looking for a hidden gem that offers high-quality food and complex flavors that will keep you returning, this place is definitely worth exploring.

Seated in a rather interesting part of North Hollywood, the summer heat did not deter us from eating here, as the smell immediately brought my worries elsewhere. A vast majority of the food here was fantastic, and the only reason I was going to opt for 4 stars was the takoyaki had quite a tiny portion in the actual dough ball- despite the actual breading so soft and fluffy, it was like the most delightfully extravagant packaging for something that was a bit of a let down. Though, much to the credit of our waiter she understood and offered to swap it out for another appetizer, which probably deserves the vast majority of the praise here. The vegetarian dumplings we ordered were legitmately some of the best dumplings I've had period. From the vegan mayo to the best gentle heat I've ever had the experience I've eating. Just hot enough for a brief moment with delightful heat throughout. The chicken skewers we had and the calamari were solid and with a perfectly paired Thai Iced Tea, I only hope to visit again and drown in dumplings. Cheers!

We ate here last night, and shortly after I started vomiting and dealing with diarrhea throughout the entire night. It was one of the worst reactions I've had after eating out. What's even more frustrating is that I tried calling the restaurant afterward to notify them and discuss the situation, but I couldn't get ahold of anyone even after leaving a voicemail. I understand things can happen, but food safety should be taken seriously, and the lack of response afterward made the situation even worse. Very disappointed after what had previously been good experiences here.

Making a reservation was very easy, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted right away and seated promptly. The ambiance was warm and inviting. The restaurant is a bit dimly lit, but it really adds to the cozy and upscale atmosphere. One thing I immediately noticed was how clean all of the grills were. We chose the AYCE option (around $55 per person), and the pricing for kids was very reasonable. Our 5-year-old was charged a reduced rate, while our 3-year-old ate free, which was a nice bonus for families. The selection of meats was excellent, with plenty of options to choose from. They do have a 90-minute dining limit and a surcharge for excessive leftovers, but that wasn't an issue for us because everything was delicious. The appetizer selection was surprisingly large. We enjoyed the beef fried rice, noodles, a sushi roll, crispy tofu, chicken karaage, and shiitake mushrooms. The crispy tofu turned out to be spicier than we expected, so just keep that in mind if ordering for kids. However, spice lovers will probably enjoy it! The chicken karaage was a huge hit with the kids, especially with the spicy mayo on the side. The shiitake mushrooms were also incredibly flavorful and well-seasoned. We also ordered crispy rice spicy tuna, we loved it too! What really stood out was the service. Every server we encountered was kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Instead of simply dropping off food and walking away, they took time to check in, ask how we were doing, and connect with us. That personal touch made the experience feel special. We only ordered water since we had already had plenty of drinks earlier in the day, but they offer a variety of beverages as well. For dessert, we tried the mochi ice cream special--two for $5--which was a fantastic deal. In San Diego, it's common to pay around $5 for just one mochi ice cream, so we were pleasantly surprised. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and are so happy we chose Oku-Niku for my birthday celebration. Great food, excellent service, a family-friendly atmosphere, and a memorable dining experience. We'll definitely be back!
