Ive been going here since high school and Ive got to say, its just gotten worse and worse everytime I go. Im a waitress so its very hard for me to leave a bad review, but oh my gosh, its been awful the last 3 times Ive gone, I cant be nice anymore. Today my boyfriend and I came in, sat down, and waited. We were the only people in there, but it toke them almost 15 minutes to come get our order. So then we waited, and waited, and waited, no one checked on us. 15 minutes after we order we get a sad severing of edamame, and I LOVE edamame, but this was the worst plate Ive ever gotten of it. I dont even know how to describe it, it was just awful. Then 15 minutes after that we finally get our food which was: rice I could have gotten at a drive through and okay spicy pork. We paid almost $25 for a small plate of fried rice and pork and waited 30 minutes for it. The staff stood around like they had nothing to do, which they could have checked on the sushi that was going around in the train, one had been on there for so long Im pretty sure it melted. Restroom was greasy and in poor repair. Table was dirty. Our server wearing an anime jacket was more interested in his phone than service. I witnessed him dipping a cup into the ice machine to fill it. Then had a nasty attitude when he only took one drink request after being asked for drinks. We love Sushi Train! We always look forward to seeing Lee, his parents and our favorite waitress Nika. My husband loves raw rolls, his favorite is the Rainbow. I prefer mine cooked, some of my faves are the SunnyPop and Tammy roll (which is filled with cooked crab, cream cheese, avocado, masago, a crispy whitefish and drizzled with eel sauce. Used to go to have sushi here all the time. Looked forward to a trip for sushi today. Sooooo disappointing. The train had 2 options that didn't have eel sauce -to which I'm allergic. The waiter, once he served our drinks never came back so I could ask for something else. Couldn't get refills on drinks. I've been going here since I was little . They are very friendly and kind .There prices are agreeable. My favorite is the Kimono Roll ,it's spicy but savory . Also there Miso soup is one of a kind .I haven't tasted any other like it. It's great for kids because there's a train they can watch go around and around carrying sushi and other stuff. A cool concept, worth trying but just above average. Would have given it 3.5 stars if possible. Those of you who follow my food reviews know that sushi is my kryptonite, I love some good sushi and sashimi. It is kind of eerie sometimes how I just get this tingle, some would call it a sixth sense, when I am out and about. Somehow, someway I just know that there is a sushi place near. I have been to sushi train numerous times and at various times of day. First off, I do love the concept of the train. This was the first city I saw this in and really loved the idea of being able to try out different types of sushi without having to buy full rolls, I could see this adapted to other "genres" of food as well. For the most part I have liked what I have tried there and will say that I do like having the choices available. So why the "above average" comment at the start of the review? Because there are times that items seem to sit before they get to hop onto the train for their ride around and for the rest of you who like sushi I think you will agree with me that one of the most important factors of freshness is just how quickly that sushi is served after it is made. That is one of the biggest draw backs of sushi at a buffet (which this is not, but I am using as a reference), it tends to sit around. I have never timed how long the sushi sits at the window waiting to go out onto the train, but I know I have gotten some that has sat at room temperature too long to really be considered nice and fresh. This doesn't happen often ming you, if it did I would be giving them a bad review and never gone back and I am not doing that. I will return to them again in the future. Customer service is generally good, a few times it has been lacking but for the most part it has been good. Facility has been clean, no complaints there. In summary, do I think they are worth trying out? Sure I do! The value is there for what you spend especially in relation to choices available. If they could get their timing a bit better, that would really put them over the top I think. read more

The train sells it for me. It's blast seeing all the unique combos roll down the train tracks. You just go to be wary about what you are selecting and the price as you can easily rack up a bigger bill than you expected. Afraid to pick a few rolls off the choo-choo? Don't fret. They'll make rolls to order and you can even get a train sized roll for a lower price. Also offer a bunch of other food items besides sushi including tempura, soup, meals and appetizers. I only wish that they more family seating next to the train. There is only a limited number of booths and the rest of the seating are individual stools. Otherwise you have to sit on the outskirts and then awkwardly stand next to people looking at what you want to select from the train. read more

Unseasoned rice. Stale fish that's been sitting on the train too long. Way too much "goop" on much of the dishes. This is unauthentic sushi and entirely gross. I'm not sure how they have managed to stay in business so long. I can say with sincerity this is the worst sushi outside of a gas station I've ever had. I was brought here by some locals that loved it and I truly believe it's because they didn't know any better. You guys can do way better than this. You get what you pay for. The train concept is kind of cool. However, if people aren't grabbing sushi off of it, it will sit there for while. it was my birthday on saturday and I ordered sushi to feed a houseful of my friends (there were probably 30 people at my party). I ordered a LOT of sushi. I mean, 30 people to feed, right??? I told them around 7.30 for a delivery would be fine, since I knew that was right around the dinner rush I wanted to be flexible. My doorbell rang AT 7.30 with my sushi. Not only was it beautifully prepared on 2 very large serving platters, the fish was still cold, and both trays were absolutly stunning (yes, i used the word STUNNING for food, LOL) in presentation. My Guests were very impressed, and several had never had sushi before so for a first time experience for newbies, I couldnt have asked for better service. there was plenty of wasabi, ginger, and soy sauce as well as chopsticks for an army. I could not have asked for better service or better food for a big day for me. thanks Sushi Train, you keep reinforcing my belief that this is the best in town. read more

Sushi Train is the place to go when you are craving sushi, don't want to spend a lot, and also want to have a little fun while you eat. It is *not* the best sushi in town (if you are looking for good sushi, Wasabi at 68th & Memorial is my favorite), but it is good for the price and offers the novelty of the little electric train that runs around a track carrying the little plates of sushi. The wait staff is friendly here, and we have received complimentary rolls from the chefs on several occasions because they took a liking to us for one reason or another. Also, if the train isn't really your thing, they do made to order sushi as well, and it is extremely reasonably priced (~$6.95-11.00 depending on roll). Sushi Train also does cutesy dessert sushi made of gummy bears, fruit rollups, and rice krispies in various configurations. You will be tempted to eat them because they are extremely cheap and fun, but a warning: they are not very good, just fun to look at. Also, make sure to grab a $.35 bag of Gushers on your way out. =) read more

Came here for lunch on a weekday. Sat at the counter to get full access to the train that goes around. In summary, the small plates were very overpriced for what you get. I don't know why other reviewers say it's cheap and you get a lot of food. You get like 3-4 small pieces on each dish, and each dish costs several dollars. It adds up quick when you are hungry. It's a trick because they fool you into eating more plates without realizing the total cost until it is too late. Furthermore, the sushi is just bad quality. It tasted old. This fish had strange old colors, very unappetizing and unappealing. I felt like it had been sitting on the counter for a long time. The sushi is made and sits on that sushi train all day, so you have no idea how old that sushi is that you get off the train. With those ambient temperatures, I suspect the raw fish gets spoiled pretty easily. I get better sushi at the supermarket. The decor is outdated. If you really look in at the kitchen in the middle, it's not the cleanest place. There is a Reasors next door, and Sprouts up the street, and I would recommend going there to get supermarket sushi instead of going to this place. I will not go again to sushi train. Me and my boyfriend went at 12:00 on a Friday which means the place was packed and sadly there was no place to sit at the sushi train. We ordered from the menu. I got the Arizona Roll (BBQ eel, avocado, cream cheese, and some kind of sauce) and a Crunchy Philly Roll (Smoked Salmon, cream cheese, and avocado). I guess you can tell I enjoy cream cheese and avocado! My bf got a California Roll and a Crunchy California roll (Crab salad, cucumber and avocado). We also got an order of chicken fried rice which I thought was delicious. We both enjoyed our sushi. It was my first sushi experience in Tulsa and while it wasn't the BEST sushi ever, I would go back to this place. The only thing I didn't really enjoy (And yes, I know this is a petty thing to complain about) was the wooden benches with no back. Sushi Train is very hit or miss, for a few reasons. The first is the actual train. Sometimes the sushi on the train is really good, other times not so much. It's never terrible though. I think it's fun and inexpensive to eat off the train but don't come in with high expectations. The second thing is the rolls themselves. Sometimes when I eat there the rolls are way too saucy, even for someone like me that occasionally craves those kinds of rolls. Also the nigiri here was really disappointing. Very bland rice (it honestly didn't taste like sushi rice, just plain rice), no wasabi (or at least it didn't taste like there was any) and there was tons of rice and barely any shrimp. I know nigiri doesn't contain huge, thick pieces of fish but this was even less than what I'm used to. Some of their rolls are also a bit big, with stuff not only inside the roll but outside as well. Lastly is the service, which is also spotty. Sometimes it's great, other times not so much. The good thing about sushi train is that is affordable and generally good. I've had many good experiences here and only a few that were disappointing. They also deliver, which is pretty cool. If you are within 10 miles it's a 5 dollar fee with no minimum order, and if you are within 5 miles it's a 3 dollar fee. I've only ordered delivery once but it was fast and the driver was polite. If you're looking for a fast, fun, and inexpensive sushi experience Sushi Train might be good for you. If you're looking for high quality, simple rolls this isn't your place. read more

I highly recommend Sushi Train! I had an excellent experience at Sushi Train! I walked in at 2pm today (Tuesday) and sat at the bar. It was pretty quiet after the lunch crowd left so there were lots of open tables and stools. The friendly staff immediately offered a menu and took my drink order. I ordered the Volcano and hot green tea. The volcano was prepared quickly and tasted delicious! As I ate, the sushi train tempted me with each pass. Although I was almost full, I capitulated and snatched a scorpion roll from the train. The scorpion roll was equally delicious. I took my husband tonight while our son was at an away football game I couldn't make because of travel limitations (bad back). This was his first time going, and he has never had sushi, but is a train enthusiast and wanted to see the train and then order some chicken fried rice. We arrived and it was Friday evening and the place was packed. There was no seating but finally we saw a booth by the train getting cleaned so we went over there to wait for it. The bus person took his sweet time cleaning the booth, to the point we almost lost our spot because another couple came in about 3 minutes later and started waiting on our spot. We sit down and the same bus person asked us our beverage order, and we had to ask for a menu for hubby. I made a few selections from the train, and held off on eating them until hubby's order was placed and received. Then, we had multiple servers come by, not very often, during our meal to check on us. They appeared to be exhausted, the enthusiasm level was just not there. As for the train? Hubby loved it and said it was a very high end train. He also liked that a train horn would go off when an order from the kitchen was ready. Okay, the crux of the matter...the food. I had a harmony roll and the train made several passes and I still was not finding any sort of roll I wanted, and the sushi chefs noticed I kept watching and not taking, so they asked me if there was anything I was waiting for. I was, and requested seared tuna nigiri. 2 nigiri was 4.00. A bit pricy if you ask me, but I went ahead and accepted it, because I've liked it in the past. Hubby ordered and received chicken fried rice. He said it was okay, but preferred pho da cao's rice to Sushi Trains rice. He said the flavor tended to be under seasoned, and there was no salt or pepper on our table to add to it. The portion was big enough to satisfy his appetite. I finally, about 20 minutes in, had to ask a random server if they could bring me the ginger and wasabi and a cup for my soy sauce. Once I asked, it took another 2 minutes to receive. Once I was finally able to eat my Harmony Roll, it was delicious, and the tuna was so fresh and velvety. It was tasty and the avocado was fresh and not firm (they've done that to me once). Then I ate the nigiri, and the tuna was excellent! Just enough sear to emphasize the tuna flavor, but not so seared it felt like you had ordered cooked tuna. After a quick discussion about sushi, and informing hubby that not all sushi in America is raw, he decided to pull off a plate of "sunny pop". It is a fried shrimp with cream cheese, asparagus, and eel sauce. He tried it and absolutely loved it! Problem tonight though, was the rolls were being mass produced in flavors that apparently weren't crowd favorites, so the sunny pop roll never came back around for him to grab another dish had he wanted it. They also kept putting up sushi without the name tags on it, so you didn't know what it was unless you had had it before. So, even though the food was good, I rate this visit a 3 because of the sub-par customer service, and the variety of sushi on the train not really being varied. We will return, but if the wait staff keeps up the ho hum attitude, we will look for other places to eat sushi at. read more

Disgusting, horrifying, and just plain wrong. The sushi is made with low, low, quality fish ((that is half the time just old)) smashed together with many things non-traditional and simply not good. There's no real sushi, just rolls made from amateurs trying to play pretend Sushi Chef. Along with that is the health code violations you see every which way. Firstly, this was my 3rd time to Sushi Train. I ordered edamame and chicken fried rice. The food was pretty good and I learned that I could order my fried rice without or without anything I wanted. So that was nice. However, about 15 minutes after we were seated, an employee yelled at the other employees to stop "standing around doing nothing." Now, I have NO idea what each person's job is, but there DID seem to be some people just standing around. In response to Employee 1's outburst, the sushi chefs told him to "just do your own job." Okay...everyone has a bad day. Outbursts happen. BUT, the sushi chefs then proceeded to continue to bad mouth Employee 1 for the rest of my meal. Loudly. Now, they might have thought this was okay because they were speaking Spanish. I happen to speak Spanish. As did the friend I was dining with. After hearing the insults that CONTINUED to be spoken, out loud, with NO regard to the diners or Employee 1, I will NOT be returning to Sushi Train. Here is some advice: If you are going to call your co-workers a bitch, a dog, etc., do so to their face, in a language they speak. And don't subject your customers to your nonsense. read more

I am not a picky person whatsoever and I give restaurants a lot of grace. However, Please save yourself the time and money and do not got here. There's a reason why it has bad reviews. My boyfriend and I went here recently. The sushi was room temp, if not warm. I grabbed a Philly roll off the train and when I picked it up to eat it, there was pink liquid under it? Fresh, cold salmon should not leak like that. We were there for about an hour and noticed that they only put new sushi out when one plate is taken off the train. So there were several rolls that were on the train the entire time we were there. Obviously I don't think they should technically throw them away and waste them, But I can't imagine eating sushi that's been out for hours. Also, the plates the sushi was sitting on were sooo sticky and felt like they hadn't been washed. Considering there are only 3-4 pieces of sushi on each plate, I thought it wouldn't be too expensive. Our total was more than $70.... We could have gone to the rooftop sushi restaurant downtown for that price! I would not recommend this place. read more

You can grab sushi right off the train, they range from 2.24-4.24 depending on which color plate you grab (4 pieces) There's a cheat on your menu for the prices. they also have a nice variety of stuff that isn't sushi for those that aren't big sushi fans!
