They have a white rice paper which they wrap some of their rolls in and it tastes unique and different. I really enjoyed that part. Snowman roll was really good also, I think it cost anywhere between $9- $12 can't really remember. Their sashimi sampler was OK, $26 for the platter and it wasn't mind blowing. We ordered the caterpillar roll snowman roll black dragon roll spicey tuna hand rolls Yamaha roll .. All came out in good time and even though the spicey hand rolls were forgotten it was still ok- their spicey tuna really wasn't spicey and had a little to much (mayo?) so it was a bit more moist than usual. Portions are pretty hugs and did reflect their pictures. Pricing seem standard 8.50 and up depending on the roll you get - probably would come back , it's not as authentic as other places I've been to but the service was efficient food tasted good but not mind blowing and there was quite a variety to choose from if you are not a sushi fan. read more

They had garlic edamame but they ran out so I had the regular edamame, which was still yummy. Great sushi and delicate flavors. It is a step up from other similar sushi restaurants that they don't just try to put the same sweet brown sauce on every roll. The sashimi sampler (quality fish), albacore carpaccio (my favorite with the crunchy leaves and their sauce is to die for) and salmon skin salad (big shareable portion) were all delicious. And the fried green tea was a perfect ending! It was even in sushi roll form (see picture). Had a bit of a mix up with their yelp deal, but it was eventually resolved. We came to sushi world 2 weeks prior to our actual visit only to find the doors closed due to a family emergency. At the time they had a $20 for $40 yelp deal, but the next week it switched to $20 for $30 or $30 for $40... We called ahead to see if they would honor the $20 for $40 deal and they said it wouldn't be a problem. I had never been to Sushi World before, but I guess they underwent some new ownership and changed some things around. I had gone with the expectation of some AYCE sushi after reading some past reviews. Boy was I a bit saddened (I'm a fat kid at heart) when they told me that they did not offer AYCE sushi under the new ownership... I almost got up and left. I am glad I stayed though... the servers were very accommodating and the sushi was indeed fresh. I had ordered the chirashi bowl (which is sashimi on top of sushi rice) I also asked to substitute the red snapper in my bowl because I typically find it hit or miss at sushi restaurants. Sometimes the red snapper is muy delicious, and at others it taste like rubber. The sushi chef was so sure I'd like it that he gave me my substitute and also sent out the red snapper to our table. Came here for dinner with the bf. All you can eat dinner is currently $21.95 per person (Lunch is 16.95 AYCE/person). It was empty except for one other table when we came in which kind of made me worry that the place wasn't going to be so great, but that changed after I started eating. The sushi chef told us they paid like $50/lb for it so it's good stuff and I have to agree with him that the tuna tonight was amazing. The texture was so tender and smooth. Definitely different than any other tuna I've had. My bf thought the texture was like sho toro (small fatty tuna), which goes to show the quality of the tuna we ate tonight. They also make their spicy tuna roll with their own spicy sauce instead of sriracha sauce, so it was a nice change. Unfortunately, they ran out of a lot of stuff when we came in. The sushi chef told us that dinner is usually pretty slow compared to their busy lunch hours, but there was a 20-person group who came in before us and basically ate up a lot of their stock ingredients. They closed the restaurant 1.5 hrs earlier than usual because of that. The sushi chef kept apologizing and tried to make it up to us by letting us pay only for one person instead of two since we didn't get to order as much stuff. We also got some chicken wings on the house. I felt bad for the sushi chef because he also had to run back and forth between the kitchen since the kitchen chef didn't show up. I ordered the Salmon Skin salad and a cut spicy tuna roll. Both were very tasty and incredibly fresh. My friend ordered a different roll along with the Spicy Tuna salad....both of which were also very good. Albacore hand roll: 2/5 thought it would be raw but was not. Salmon & Avocado roll: 3/5 avocado was empowering but I love avocado. Spicy tuna roll: 1/5 not spicy at all. Quite bland. Yellowtail roll: 3/5 I love yellowtail. Beef tataki: 3/5 nicely seasoned with pepper but don't know how fresh it is. Salmon & yellowtail sushi: 2/5 don't know if fresh. Couldn't really taste the fish that much. Bentley roll: 4/5 sauce is really sweet so make sure you get it on the side like we did. The bill came out to a surprising $41 (excluding tip). It was a variety of fish served on a wooden platter. Everything seemed fresh and it was quite tasty. I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was great. It was dark and cozy, my kind of place. I also saw that they had an area where people can sit on mats to eat. How awesome is that?! Service was good. The only issue I found was that when we went to pay, they said the deal cannot be applied to my sashimi set. The deal never said anything about exclusions, so that was a bummer. After my last trip, I am compelled to write this update to my previous review. I will preface this review by saying that the Omakase course is a MUST try for anyone that LOVES sushi. And my review is based entirely on this omakase experience. I will do my best to remember as much as possible as I was so enthralled by the meal that I forgot to take pictures... =/ The meal started with the Monk fish liver appetizer with a fresh raw oyster on a half shell. The monk fish liver is dressed in this ponzu flavored jelly that is like a flavor explosion in your mouth, and definitely got me hungry for what is to come! Every single piece of sushi in the Omakase line up is top notch, top grade, and comparable with what you would find at much higher end restaurants. I will however, focus on the high lights of this OMG so good line up. I can't recall the exact name, but the chef described as the "muscle that is on the side of the fish" on a halibut.... it's a long strip of "muscle" that's been scored and seared, it was so buttery and the texture was to die for. I have never had anything like it and that is saying something!! then there are the 2 different snappers, one from Greece, and one from Japan. It is interesting now the 2 can look so similar, but yet have different flavor profiles and slight difference in texture. Real snappers have flesh that is simi clear, and a nice crisp flavor. Don't be fooled by the cheap frozen and sometimes fake (it's actually tilapia!) "red snapper" at other run of the mill sushi places. This place is LEGIT!! The way that the sushi is prepared in the omakase course is special, and the chef does have a preference on how you actually eat the sushi, as he will often remind you when and when not to use soy sauce. Believe me when I say, that his recommendations are always spot on, as the flavor that he imparts unto the fish in ways of specialty soy sauce/ponzu/lemon/salt PERFECTLY matches the flavor of the fish. I found myself hardly touching the soy sauce at all the entire meal! Some of the honorable mention for the course would be the Aji, Yellow tail and Bonito. All of which flavorful and melts in your mouth deliciousness. There was not ONE normal piece of sushi in this course, and all were super stars unto themselves. But like my last review, to write about them all would mean a much bigger wall of text then the typically yelper have the attention span to chew through... Then there is the desert. Creme brulee. In an apple shell. with scopes of apple and strawberry topped with whipped cream. Yes I know you're jealous. So go and order the Omakase at Sushi World. NOW. Oh and the best part about this whole thing? It's ONLY $36!!!! I dare anyone here to find the quality AND quantity of AWESOMELY DELICIOUS sushi offered here for less then $50. You will not. One thing to note, is that they do not accept the yelp deal on the omakase, which makes sense, as the price for it is already a special unto itself. read more

My husband did an order for pick up he called by phone and drove over about 15 minutes later and decided to wait inside the restaurant the other 15 minutes as they said by phone that it would take a total of 30 minutes to get our order. Since he knew that it would only be another 15 minutes he took both kids with him and waited in the lobby for over an hour it is the most ridiculous display that I have ever seen. Also their hours are posted until 9 PM and they had him waiting until well passed closing at 9:30 until he finally got his food after waiting in the lobby after a 50 hour work week with two hungry kids. Several attempts were made to get more info and he asked several times what was going on and was told five more minutes, five more minutes, three times, they offered NOTHING to make it right, and instead of being sympathetic or extremely rude. These insane employees were acting as though our order was inconveniencing them to have to stay there and make our order that was called in over an hour before we received it, so it's not like they didn't have time. Finally got the food and it's so cold they rice at the bottom of the rolls are stuck to the plates they are packaged in as if it had been sitting on an ice pack, none of the rolls we ordered had cream cheese in the description except two came with cream cheese so we weren't even able to eat them total waste of time and money DO NOT GO HERE read more

I ended up trying this place for curry since the beloved curry house is no longer in operation in the US. The staff were really nice and provided a good portion side. This place is a hidden gem. First of all, the name of the restaurant is "Sushi World" for goodness sake. I honestly thought it was going to be some cheap horrible california roll kind of place with not-so-great fish. However, I was very pleasantly surprised at the flavor and the service. This, I noticed is a hit or miss because it seems to be a bit more salty on some days but its okay with me because I control the amount of soy sauce depending on the miso soup anyways. Usually, the fish served at those type of restaurants are not very fresh as I've discovered through past experiences. However, the fish here was fresh and super tasty! I tried the yellowtail, salmon, albacore belly, tuna, o-toro and jumbo scallop sushi. My favorites were the yellowtail, o-toro and jumbo scallop. They literally melted in my mouth. I saw that they had cherry salmon on the special menu. I will definitely try it next time and see if it's comparable to the cherry salmon at Oshima, because if it is... game over.
