5 stars for them. Hidden germ. Fresh sushi you can get in town. Ours first stop every time we're in town. Good menu even their happy hour. Every other weekend they have Bluefin Tuna cutting show. Should try even once . Sushi chef is great, staff very friendly. Amazing place. Warning you try and hooked on. LOL

Hidden gem sushi spot tucked into a strip mall in the Cypress area with plenty of parking. I've been coming here for years and even after moving to Orange, I still make the trip back because the consistency is unbeatable. Service is always prompt and courteous, and the sushi chefs are consistently on point. Everything comes out fresh and well prepared. I usually come for the happy hour. It's all day Mondays and Tuesdays, and Wednesday through Friday from 2 to 5. The truffled salmon is the reason I keep coming back. Rich, buttery, and melts in your mouth. Also ordered the salmon skin, smoked albacore, and blue crab hand rolls. All delivered. This place hits what matters most. Fresh fish, fair prices, and reliability. Keep an eye on their social media and make a reservation when they do their bluefin tuna carving. Definitely worth experiencing.

Tried Sushi World Sushi for the first time and I'm glad I did. From the outside, you can't really tell what it's giving, but inside it's actually a vibe. The walls are covered in beautiful artwork, and the bar area felt relaxed. They had football on the TV when I came in, and a few people were posted up watching the game. They also had music playing, and I caught myself doing a little bop at the bar, so yes, the vibe was vibing. Service was a highlight. The guys behind the counter were super friendly and attentive, checked on me throughout, and when I ordered oysters they offered me Tabasco, which was a nice touch. Oysters with a little Tabasco? 10/10. I also ordered the #2 bento box, and it was a mix of hits and a couple misses. The cucumber salad was good, the sushi was good, and the rice was solid. The tempura veggies were a little soft and could've been fried harder, plus a little salt would've helped. The chicken teriyaki leaned a bit dry, but the flavor was good. Overall, I enjoyed it and I'll be back. For a neighborhood spot, it surprised me in a good way, especially on service, atmosphere, and the friendly sushi bar energy.

Great local happy hour -- sushi tasted great and the beer was cold. Friendly service and clean interior -- has a cool and hip vibe. Will definitely be back!

Oh wow. Just wow. No words for how good the quality and service are here. I'm so glad I found this place in a target plaza near my house! Needless to say, i'm coming back here for sushi all the time now. Get the black snapper! Its a must-try here! The scallops are from Hokkaido, so if you're picky like me and my son, you'll love the scallops! I asked for yuzi juice on the side to dip all my sashimi and it was bomb!!!!!!!

Quick dinner on a Friday after work. The staff is always welcoming and made sure to check in on us regularly. Our first time here was last. It was happy hour before 5pm. Prices are affordable and sushi was flavorful. Today, we ordered almost the same items but unfortunately there was barely any taste. It did not taste bad more like freshly unfrozen with only some flavor and little sweetness. Spicy edamame - tasted like it was just sate'd in chili oil and salt Yellow tail belly Albacore belly Jumbo Scallop Ankimo Spanish Makeral Red Snapper We really enjoyed this place and wanted to give it another try but if you do try; definitely come before 5pm for their Makeral hour prices. Again, the staff was very nice nice welcoming. It is a place for family and quick get together but the food has been hit n miss.

Wonderful staff, environment, and sushi. We tried quite a few roll, but our favorite: albacore capaccio. Seaweed salad, Spider roll, Superman toll, Red Dragon roll, and Rainbow roll. We also took a teriyaki chicken home for a family member. Everything was delicious. Best of all was the freshness of the food and the great price. Come see for yourself.

Don't let the name fool you--Sushi World is an excellent local sushi spot with delicious food and friendly, attentive staff. They offer daily specials, happy hour deals, unique specialty rolls, bento boxes, omakase specials, fresh sushi and sashimi, and more! I recently enjoyed their sushi, omakase sushi lunch, miso black cod dish, and appetizers. If you're not into sushi, they offer plenty of cooked items and soups from the kitchen. Follow them on social media for updates on their current specials and when they announce whole Blue Fin tuna carvings. Get first dibs on the fresh tuna! Prices have increased over the years, as have most restaurants. However, quality and service are worth the cost. I'll be back!

The food was very good. The wait time, however. Around 7 pm on a Thursday night was 45 minutes for our food. That's after our order was placed. Huge to go orders and only two staffers running around meant hungry diners and then no open tables for folks waiting. Kind of a nightmare scenario. But once the food came, it was good. I especially liked the jalapeño yellow tail sashimi.

    Linda N.

The food here was really good, but the service was super slow and honestly not great. We waited way too long for dishes to come out, which made the experience less enjoyable. First dish came out about 9 minutes after order was taken the the dish took 36 minutes later. One suggestion for the restaurant: during special events like the bluefin tuna cutting, please consider having more chefs making sushi, especially for the tables not seated at the bar. It seemed like those at the bar were taken care of quickly, while everyone else had to wait much longer.

    Employees with no gloves

My low rating is for the sole reason that neither cooks wore gloves. I watch them handle multiple things food and non food items no gloves and never once washed there hands. Very unsanitary especially since they handle raw sushi. The sushi itself wasn't to bad but prices a little high if it wasn't wasn't for the sanitary issues it be a ok place

I saw the picture, on Facebook, of the Bluefin Tuna bowl. It states that this item isn't on the menu, yet, but I would like to know the price of the item?

It is a Bluefin Toro Bowl. It costs $45.

Do you serve beer and wine also?

Yes We serve beer, wine and sake

How come the table in the back isn't open to smaller parties? We dine here frequently and it's my sons favor place to sit. However we're told it's for large parties only but no one ever sits back there.

They're being hopeful that a larger party comes. They also don't want a predicament: If you were sitting there and a larger party came, you probably wouldn't want to be told you needed to change tables.

Is omakase still available? If so, how much per person?

Omakase is available every day. The price depends on how many pieces of sushi you want. If you let the server or chef know how many pieces you would like per person, they'll be able to give you a price.

    You open today?

Yes, we are open every day.

    Is it Ayce?

    No, it is not.

Are the sushi chefs wearing masks AND gloves when making the rolls and sushi dishes during this COVID-19 pandemic?

Yes from the couple times I've been there in recent months.

    Are the party trays 20%?

    Currently for take out, yes.

Where can I find the party platter options and price? Will I be able to order and pickup on thanksgiving day?

Hi and thank you for contacting us. All of our party platter pricing is listed at the url below. However, we will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, unfortunately. You can place your order for any other day we are open. Thank you and regards.…

    When is happy hour?

Happy hour is all day on Mondays & Tuesdays and from 2 pm till 5 pm on Wednesdays through Fridays.

Do they have any specials for to-go orders?

We have catering tray options listed here: http://sushiworldoc.com/catering

Is one sushi order 2 pcs? (i.e. Yellowtail, $4.75)

Yes, all of our sushi prices are for 2 pieces per order.

Do you serve sushi with a no rice option?

Yes, we have many no rice options. We have an extensive sashimi selection and we also have sushi rolls with no rice.

Is happy hour only for dine in?

Yes, it's for dine in only.

Is it all you can eat?

Monday and Tuesday all day 50% off sushi

At first I thought it was a fast food style, order at the counter and wait for your order to be ready, but it was actually a casual sit down restaurant. The lovely lady took our order when we were ready. They offer a variety of plates and combo plates which includes California roll and gyoza. They have a but two rolls and get one free special which is what I went with. They have a variety of sushi rolls to choose from. They have no rice rolls and several styles of specialty rolls. They even have ramen or udon noodle soups. The service was attentive enough to not feel forgotten. She checked on us a few times and made sure our water was replenished. Pleasantly surprised about this place. Nowhere a high end Japanese restaurant, but very sufficient enough for a simple lunch.

When I arrived around 12:30 p.m. on a Saturday, the restaurant was relatively clean and completely empty. The tables looked fairly new and had a simple, utilitarian style. I walked up to the counter and asked how the promotion worked. The owner pointed out the rolls on the menu and asked whether I was dining in or ordering to go. After telling her I was dining in, I looked over the menu. Since I don't eat much rice, I was immediately drawn to the three no-rice rolls, which were $16 each. The specialty rolls also looked good and were priced between $16 and $19. I asked to order three of the no-rice rolls using the promotion. That's when the owner told me those rolls were not included. The sign outside says "any two rolls," yet apparently there are exclusions that aren't disclosed. Since the no-rice rolls are in the same price range as the specialty rolls, I asked why they were excluded. The owner didn't offer any explanation--she simply said no, then walked away from the register and back into the kitchen. I found that interaction disrespectful and a clear indication that they weren't interested in earning my business. Customer service matters, and this experience left a very negative impression. I recommend choosing one of the many other restaurants in the area that value friendly, transparent service. Advertising a promotion as applying to "any" rolls while excluding certain items without clearly stating that feels misleading.

Good service. Food: BEST onigiri iv had! Iv tried the kbbq, mentaiko, honey walnut, and spicy salmon onigiri. My two favorite were the mentaiko and spicy salmon onigiri. The mentaiko (fish eggs) was delicious, it was salty but like the good saltiness (not overly salty if that makes sense haha) and keep in mind that it is a tad spicy but for me I can handle it because I love anything spicy! Now the spicy salmon onigiri was PERFECT. Not too spicy (perfect for those who likes a mild spice) and creamy. My bf ordered spicy salmon as well and honey walnut shrimp. Both he said were delicious and his favorite was the honey walnut shrimp! For the kbbq, it was delicious too! Reminded me of Kbbq! All onigiris came with seasoned furikake and seaweed (there's an option if u want it on the side or remove it). There is also ahi tube poke and 3 sauces to choose from. I chose 1 spicy mayo on the side and it tasted really good with the onigiri. Each onigiri is labeled on the wrapper so it's easy to know which is which. I personally think think this onigiri store has a good amount of filling which I love! Drinks we ordered strawberry lemonade and regular lemonade. 5/5 great drinks and refreshing on a hot day. Overall everything was a 10/10 for me. If you really want to be full full, eat 4 onigiris, if u want to be full but not TOO full, 3 is good enough! Definitely will come back and will recommend this place to friends and family!

Instead, everything is a la carte with the exception of a few combination plates. I wish they would do dinner specials similar to their lunch specials! Parking here is pretty difficult. The lot gets packed with several cars circling around hunting for a spot. They're also going some construction right now which doesn't help. There is a large parking lot where the Home Depot is next door, but they specifically have signs posted to say you can't park there.

Authentic Japanese-owned, mostly Japanese staff, with a couple of long-timers who have clearly found their forever workplace - over a decade and counting. New owner took over when the original retired, a few small changes here and there, but the food and service? Barely touched. That is the highest compliment a ownership transition can get. Check IG for their lunch specials from M-F. I am leaving this review purely out of self-interest. This place cannot close.

We got the tonkotsu ramen and a yellowtail roll called Angrytail Roll. The fish is fresh and the Tonkotsu is so flavorful that we even finished all the broth. Our server was so sweet as well. It also felt like a different little world inside of this restaurant, within the food court, which is very cool for an experience for dining within a food court. Highly recommend!

In addition to the many ramen variations, their menu features a good selection of different apps. For the bogo, I got the black ramen while my friend got the tonkotsu ramen. The black ramen was pretty good. A bit too salty for me, but I still liked the taste. My friend's tonkotsu broth was also good. The pork was tender and not too fatty which I prefer. We also got an order of chashu fries and thought these were good. We were quite full from the soup but brought the leftover fries home to warm in the air fryer. The ramen here tastes fine. It's nothing too special so I don't think I'd get ramen here again.
