I wish I would have known before making the long drive that this place doesn't have real fish for sushi. They don't even offer any spicy tuna, spicy salmon etc in their rolls. The food was not good at all and we left half in the trash can. Overpriced, not sushi grade sushi. read more

I love this place so much. The service is so great which is really the selling point. The prices are incredibly reasonable. It's not the thickest sushi or the most luscious spot, but it's the best budget sushi around in my opinion. Very yummy, very reasonable, just great. It looks exactly the same but my experience this go around was quite the opposite. We arrived close to noon but the open sign wasn't on and there was another sign that said they were currently closed. We asked anyways and found out the guy simply forgot to change the sign. We ordered shake don and an una don. While the food tasted ok, my rice was cold and slightly undercooked for the salmon bowl. The seating area wasn't clean, even though they had only been open less than an hour, and to be honest it looked like it hadn't been wiped down in at least a day. I was at the Arcade next door and found this place. I was a little apprehensive because it is a tourist area. The young lady at the register was pleasant. I ordered a Mexican Roll and Paradise Roll. The prices certainly are as expected for special rolls. The food was brought to my table with a great big smile. After a few minutes a gentleman came out and asked how was my food. Which I replied very good, thank you. It's not easy to find tasty food thats on the healthier side in this area. But this was is very good. Wish I remembered to take a picture. My daughter and I stopped in for sushi the other evening after not having been in awhile. We were shocked (in a good way) when we walked in. They have redone the interior. They now have more seating, no soda fountain and have added a hibachi grill. We were excited to try the hibachi but, learned it ends at 4:00 so, we were too late. Incredibly slow service. Set-up like fast-food sushi but it's slower than a sit-down restaurant without actual plates, bowls, etc. and they give you cheap foam bowls and plates. Okay... Ordered at 12:15pm on a Tuesday. Got our miso soup at exactly 12:40pm. That's nuts. That's all we got of our order, still was waiting for the rest. Foam bowls for soup, one broke and it spilled. (There was a table waiting for their food before we ordered and one guy got his stuff and finally the other two got theirs.) 12:48 the tempura came. They don't announce it, you have to keep an eye on the counter. 12:51 thank God, got our sushi. The sushi was like grocery store sushi, to be honest. Not to sound arrogant but I'm from LA and we're fortunate to get all kinds of sushi there from melt in your mouth goodness to belt sushi. This is "meh" at best. The salmon was super tough and rubbery (my fault for eating on Tuesday). The tuna was okay but super thin. The tempura was good, the shrimp was fresh. Just way too long of a wait. This almost feels like a fast food place because of its furniture and how small the place is. I would say you can probably fit 16 people at the most inside, and that's if you're taking all seats. There is no sushi bar where you ask the sushi chef to make your order. You go to the counter, look at the menu, tell them what you want, and pay. Almost like a to-go place, but you have the option to dine in if you want. First thing I loved about this place is how cheap everything is. You can get a combination 6pc nigiri sushi for $7!!! You can also get a combo nigiri sushi and roll for about $11. I ordered the Kamikaze roll, Samba nigiri combination, and shumai (pork dumplings). The kamikaze roll was the perfect bite size. I've had sushi so big that I've had to cut it in pieces, but this roll was very easy to eat. The rice was sticky and did not fall apart. I loved the flavor. Based on the name, I just thought it would have some spiciness in it, but it had a spicy level of 0. Nevertheless, the flavor was still there. The shumai pork dumplings were okay. Good, but not my favorite part of the meal. Samba nigiri combination includes 2 pieces of salmon, 2 pieces of shrimp, and 2 pieces of tuna. Very easy to eat and the rice remained in tact. They also have 4 tables where you can either sit with your family or sit by yourself. They have hibachi during lunch. They also have bento boxes and poke bowls as an option as well. The prices for all of their food is inexpensive. The food, however, does not taste inexpensive. The prep time is about 10 minutes. Upon further recommendation by a friend decided to give this place a try. I loved that this place is super affordable. I mean for under $25, I was able to order two types of rolls and a shrimp tempura on rice. My belly was superbly full and mood happy. It was like the rice was frozen then thawed. The baby octopus okay, I'm acknowledging I feel like a jerk for saying this being it was only $5.99 but ... it didn't taste like octopus. The seasoning was blaaaah but it was tender especially for a $5.00 portion. They don't have spicy mayo so they use mild tasting sriracha sauce for spicy rolls, yikes. My guess is they can't put any significant seasoning in their food because their "average" customer can't handle it. The sushi is inexpensive, but there's something missing not sure what it is there's just something missing maybe everything. There's no way this place is a 4-5 star restaurant. read more
