My friends and I had a wonderful time grabbing dinner at Sushisamba! We snagged a slightly early dinner time and while it was quite busy by the time we left, we didn't think it had been too loud while we ate and chatted. We ordered the Pão de Queijo - delicious cheese bread, do not miss! The Kobe Gyoza with the kabocha puree was delicious, too. We also tried the Sea Bass Anticuchos which was a good portion of fish per skewer and the Seviche Classico which also came with plenty of fish and deliciously crunchy plantain chips for texture. The SambaLA roll was a hit with us as well. For dessert, do not skip the chocolate banana cake - it was so good served warm with a side of ice cream. We also ordered the honey butter toast that our server recommended. The flavors were good but it was served cold and was hard to bite. It tasted better after it sat soaking up the ice cream. Great spot for good food and a fun vibe!
I have many mixed feelings about this restaurant and I hesitate to leave any negative comments. However, they do have some operational issues to work through. I realize they are new and well give them the benefit of the doubt that they will improve soon. I was there recently with a group of friends celebrating a special occasion. There were about 7 to 8 people in our table. 1st of all, I have to say that the rooftop location and the decor choices are absolutely stunning. When I walked in, I almost gasped and really felt like I was transported to some tropical vacation. Open air is definitely the way to go in LA where weather is pleasant year-round. The day tonight transition of the restaurant was stunning. I am not normally a fan of fusion food, but the Brazilian Japanese combination sounded quite interesting. The dishes are meant to be family style yet nobody wanted to do family style in the table I was in. It was a little frustrating since I had to order much more than I would normally eat for myself, and that subsequently drove the prices up. The server did a great job in recommending dishes and explaining that they are meant to be shared. The Lychee Cooler cocktail was such a great summer choice. It's slightly on the sweet side, but goes with the drink and it had a fresh lychee garnish. I felt like I was in a high-end tiki bar. Presentation was gorgeous. The main problem with the food was that a couple of appetizers came out. I was happy they were coursing the meal. However, two people in our table never received their entrées. We were there a good 3 1/2 hours by the time the whole meal was served, and it was a little excessive to me. I was getting restless and just wanting to leave about halfway through. When it was brought to their attention that our food didn't arrive, I think the normal thing to do was to bring it out and also comp the dishes. They just brought it out and said "it's already made so do you want it?" When the offer was declined, they brought out a different sushi dish and did comp it however, it was not what had been ordered. I tasted a bite of it and really was not impressed. I would never have been satisfied. Had I ordered something like that. The good part was the pao de queso (cheese bread) was perfection by itself, but they served it with a sweet truffle butter that just took it up a few notches. I tasted a couple of the mushroom dishes that others ordered, and it tasted fantastic. I also got the seafood stew bowl (Moqueca Mista), which clearly was meant to be shared. The flavor was good and I appreciated that chimichurri rice. Unfortunately, all my shellfish were full of sand and overall the dish was very heavy. I didn't enjoy it that much. I definitely found the Brazilian dishes, more interesting and tasty. Sadly, I was not thrilled with the service and food. I would give it another chance when they settle in and improve service but it is not on the top of my list. I would most likely return to the bar for some drinks and light appetizers. It had great ambience, although it got very loud toward the later part of the evening.
Okay, where do I start... The ambiance is definitely the highlight. It's a fun atmosphere and not something you come across often in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the food and service didn't live up to the setting. We were seated directly next to a speaker, and the music was so loud that we often couldn't hear the person sitting next to us. The playlist was great, but the volume made it feel more like a nightclub than a restaurant. As for the service, we had two servers. The first took our order and then disappeared, and a second server took over for the rest of the evening. She was kind, but the attention to detail was lacking. One member of our party has a severe peanut allergy, and it took asking six different staff members before anyone could tell us whether a dessert contained peanuts. That level of uncertainty regarding a serious food allergy was concerning. The most frustrating part of the evening came when the bill arrived. We were incorrectly charged $12 for a bowl of ginger, $18 for a small cup of ponzu, a magnum bottle of wine when we had only ordered the standard-sized bottle, and still water even though all nine of us drank tap water. When you're spending nearly $700 on dinner, charging extra for a small bowl of ginger and a cup of ponzu feels unreasonable, especially when no one mentioned there would be an additional charge. While the manager ultimately removed those charges, there was little acknowledgment or apology. Instead, we were simply told that the charge only applies when you ask for "extra extra." We had a small bowl to share among nine people, which hardly seems excessive. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled matters. Between the billing errors, lack of allergy awareness, and inattentive service, the overall experience didn't match the restaurant's atmosphere or price point.
I was so excited to try this place with my friends and was immensely let down. We did the brunch menu which included apps, sushi, and your choice of an entree. The pao de quijeo was phenomenal with the sweet sauce that came with it. Plantains were just okay and the green bean tempura was good but nothing to rave about. I ordered the lychee cooler, which was horrid. It was so sweet I couldn't take more than 2 sips of it. The real kicker is the steak and eggs that I ordered. At first glance, they looked delightful and the steak was very easy to cut in to. After a few bites I had a bite of steak that tasted absolutely RANCID. Like legitimately tasted expired. After that I stopped eating because I was so disgusted. My girlfriend felt the same, the meat quality was horrible. The vibe of the restaurant was nice but the music was so loud I could barely talk to my friends. Our server was super friendly but the service itself was so slow. We finished eating and our check didn't come out for another 35 minutes. This is one of those places that wows you with their ambiance but the food doesn't live up to the hype. I don't know if it was just the brunch menu items that were the issue but I do know that I certainly will not be back.
Came here for drinks and honestly this place is a vibe! We got some apps and drinks and I love the decor and how the place is laid out. I got this lychee cooler super delicious, my friend also got a dirty martini. We got the crispy rice, cheese bread, and tempura beans. Everything was delicious. To be honest I was prepared to not like the place because I'm always worried about hyped place in LA. However I was so surprised at how much I like sushisamba. The place is perfect to grab a drink and catch up with a friend or take a date too. And it's a pretty restaurant It's def a place where you do have to dress chic. You don't have to wear a dress, but definitely dress to impress. I think it's a good place to people watch too. Service was fine. The server was attentive and would check up on us. Parking wise, valet is $20-25. There's also street parking.
We started with the edamame, Brazilian cheese bread, and rock shrimp tempura. And OMG... this bread was unreal. Warm, cheesy, soft in the middle, and honestly some of the best bread I've ever had. Next up was the yellowtail tiradito, and WOW. The flavors were so fresh and delicious, and it actually reminded me of a tom yum soup. Then came the sushi rolls, and these are definitely not your average sushi rolls. We tried the Asevichado, El Topo, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and Tiger Maki, and every bite was packed with flavor. For the mains, we ordered the Churrasco Rio Grande, which comes with three different types of meat, along with the Chicken A La Brasa. Both dishes were incredible and perfect for sharing. And of course, we couldn't skip dessert. We ended the night with the burnt cheesecake and mochi, and they were the perfect sweet finish to our meal. The food, the atmosphere, the views, everything was a 10/10!! If you're planning a visit, make a reservation around sunset for the full experience.
Admittedly, I came through with high expectations for the ambiance but relatively low hopes for the food, just based off of the reviews I'd seen on IG. Well, the vibes certainly didn't disappoint, but GOSH it is SO LOUD out here. We sat in the middle area, not too far off from the DJ, and the beat was BOOMING all night. I did really like the music, though, and the other patrons seemed to enjoy themselves. There's a nice view of the city. It gave me the impression of being on a yacht of some sort and looking out over the water. Very classy, modern, and inviting. The bar was busy, but ideal for those who walked in without a reservation. Now, as for the food, it wasn't as shoddy as I expected at all. Some of the food was rather mid or else quite salty - like the yellowtail ceviche and miso soup - but we enjoyed the Torodito and Negihama. Nigiri was decent. I wasn't the biggest fan of my Lychee Cooler. I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to cocktails and stiff drinks, though. I'd come back for a fun time, maybe for dessert and a drink, but probably not for a full dinner meal.
Incredible choice for a dinner out in West Hollywood. The restaurant itself transforms you into another atmosphere, unlike anything I've seen in LA to date. The service was impeccable. Our server Joey was so on top of it and really took care of our table. His recommendations were on par, and had such good energy. Food wise, you really can't go wrong. I'd go with the rock shrimp tempura, yellowtail, all of the sushi, etc. Cocktails, go wild. Every single one was amazing.
Sushisamba Las Vegas, take notes! The West Hollywood location is absolute perfection. We visited for a friend's birthday brunch on a Sunday with a group of six. The brunch menu was $65 per person, and honestly, it offers plenty of food to share. We got a little carried away and ordered well beyond the brunch menu, plus cocktails and premium sake, so our bill ended up being over $1,200 but that was entirely because we overindulged. Everything we ordered was incredibly fresh and delicious. The Brazilian cheese bread balls practically melted in your mouth, especially with the butter they serve alongside them. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was outstanding, the ceviche was perfection, and every entrée we ordered from the brunch menu exceeded expectations. We also ordered a premium bottle of sake that the rest of the group thoroughly enjoyed. The cocktail menu was equally impressive, with great options ranging from Palomas and Bloody Marys to an extensive sake selection. What truly sets this location apart is the ambiance. It's easily one of the best rooftop dining experiences in Los Angeles. I've always felt LA should have more rooftop restaurants, and Sushisamba delivers everything you'd want from one. The views, energy, and atmosphere are unmatched. The live DJ was the icing on the cake and elevated the entire experience. Service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was warm, attentive, and never rushed us. We were given a generous 2 1/2 hours to enjoy our meal, which made the celebration feel relaxed and special. Valet parking is conveniently available right in front for $20. If you're looking for amazing food, great drinks, incredible vibes, and one of the best rooftop experiences in LA, Sushisamba West Hollywood is absolutely worth a visit. One note I would make to management is that the seating felt low where we were seated in the circular booths. An interior designer friend who was in our group measured and both the table and seating were standard size, but I think that because the cushions were soft causing you to sink in an inch or two, the table felt high.
Came here on a Wednesday night and had a great time. The ambiance was definitely the highlight! There was a DJ, the music was on point, and the whole place had a fun, energetic vibe without feeling too crowded. The food was good overall. The sushi rolls were a little underwhelming for me and nothing too memorable, but the appetizers absolutely made up for it. The Pao De Queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) was incredible!! We loved it so much we ordered a second basket. The spicy tuna crispy rice was also one of the best I've had and is a must-order. The honey butter toast was the perfect way to end the meal. It was absolutely delicious, generously sized, and easily big enough for 4-5 people to share. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the atmosphere, drinks, and appetizers. If the sushi rolls were a little stronger, this would easily be a five-star spot.
The place is decent, but very overpriced. Of five dishes, we loved two of them, and would probably pass on the others. The drinks were good - well balanced, didn't smack you in the face with alcohol but still got you feeling bubbly. Here's the highlights: - seviche classico - the leche de tigre here was practically drinkable. Very bright, citrusy, tangy, and satisfying. This was really yummy. - Samba la roll - really delicious. just truly so yummy, loved the golden eye snapper on the top and the passion fruit sanbaizu. another citrusy, fresh, delicious bite. The meh: - kari kari (spicy tuna crispy rice): the joy of spicy tuna crispy rice is the cold fish, hot rice, and satisfying crunch. all the marks were missed here. the temperature of the fish was raised too high by the rice (around room temp) and the texture was a uniform soft throughout. disappointing for sure. - spicy yellowtail taquitos: not altogether bad, but for $12 EACH it was nowhere near worth it. the radishes were tasty, the wonton was crispy, the yellowtail was fresh. if you got it like that, go for it. but it wasn't anything special and wasn't a $12 bite. I also did not think the salsa that accompanied it went well with the flavors. too smoky and obscured the freshness of the ingredients. in hindsight, I wouldve much rather gotten some nigiri instead! - ribeye anticuchos: tough and disappointing. I'm writing this review late, and I actually can't pull a taste memory clearly enough to describe it, if that's any indication. the peruvian corn was nice, especially added to the remainder of the seviche. At $140 each, not impressive. The price tag largely comes from the beautiful restaurant itself and the ambiance of the weho rooftop - unfortunately, my friend and I were seated in a little nook out of the main dining area. cozy, but diminished the whole experience. i'm not saying that sitting in the middle of the action would've nullified the sticker shock, but you also don't get a discount for getting sat in a hallway. the service was knowledgeable, friendly, professional. we got checked on MANY times by many different people. one could argue too attentive, but I didn't mind. Would I come back? Maybe for a cocktail and one of the good dishes, with a dinner reservation somewhere else.
When we first walked in upstairs it was bright and very pretty! The hostesses weren't very polite however and it took 15mins+ to sit after our reservation time at 5:30pm. Service here is definitely on the slower side so don't try to be in a hurry! At first we were sat in the middle and we requested a side table. They ended up moving us but both without hesitation, they definitely weren't happy... the first server we had was not very nice and was actually kind of rude. She asked if I wanted to order a drink and I said no thanks I'm okay with water. And she insisted that there are other things non alcoholic like sodas and mocktails and teas and coffee. After we moved tables the waitress we got was way nicer and there was someone in training as well. The bread was good but too much for 2 people! The Salmon Seviche was AMAZING - light, refreshing, a little sweet, and perfect portion! A really good amount too!! Spicy tuna crispy rice was also delicious. Not too spicy, just a little. I honestly hated the yellowtail tacos, it was slimy and the sauce was VERY spicy! Would not recommend, my friend also didn't like it. Overall a good experience but could be better!
Okay wait because I actually have mixed feelings about Sushi Samba. First of all, the place itself is BEAUTIFUL. Super trendy, super vibey, definitely one of those spots you dress up for. The female employees at the front were a littleeee stuck up honestly, but whatevas lol. Now our waiter Nick? AMAZING. Seriously one of the best servers I've had in a long time. Professional, attentive, understanding, and just handled everything so gracefully. The food overall was good... BUTTTT I made the mistake of ordering the steak at a sushi spot. And before you judge me, I was SO excited for it okay?? Huge mistake. The second that plate came out... omg. The smell alone literally made me nauseous. It had such a strong gamey smell/taste that I physically had to push the plate away from me. I felt SO bad asking Nick to take it back because this was genuinely my first time ever sending food back at any restaurant ever. CRYING EMOJI. But Nick handled it beautifully and made me feel way less awkward about it. BUT honestly, once we sat down, the service was incredible. They constantly changed out our plates, paid attention to every little detail, and everyone was so attentive. At one point I quietly asked for a paper napkin because I needed to spit out my gum lol. The sweet bus boy immediately asked, "For your gum?" and when I nodded yes out of embarrassment, he literally stood there waiting so he could take the napkin away immediately after. The attention to detail??? I'm obsessed. So yeah... maybe don't order the steak lol. But the service once you make it to your table. absolutely made the experience worth it.
The biggest disappointment I've experienced in a long time. I used to visit the Miami location on Lincoln Road and New York location in Manhattan and still remember how incredible the food was. Sadly, this experience was the complete opposite, everything we ordered went from bad to worse as the night progressed. I made a reservation a week in advance for a Saturday night, which turned into an unexpectedly stressful process. Their system only opens seven days ahead, at 9am sharp, and spots vanish within minutes. I had been checking daily at 6am and saw nothing available, and then called to find out that the system does not open until 9am and by then, everything was already gone. We ended up settling for a 10pm table on my boyfriend's birthday, which wasn't ideal, but we made the best of it. The service was awful - Our server came across as annoyed, overworked, and disengaged the entire evening. Any time we asked him for recommendations, he really didn't say much. It's like pulling teeth out of an annoyed individual. I wish I remembered his name but I do know what he looks like. He has curly black hair and was serving us upstairs on the right side of the restaurant. Here's how the food broke down: - Miso Soup -- Actually tasty. One of the only edible items. - Rock Shrimp -- Crunchy but tasteless and completely forgettable. There was no spicy mayo or any real sauce to speak of, which left the dish feeling unfinished and flat. - Sea Bass -- Poor flavor, tasted burnt, and the corn was inedible; hard, unpleasant, and I had to spit it out. A real miss for a dish at this price point. - Japanese Wagyu A5 Dumplings on Sweet Potato Puree -- I had one and stopped. It was not good. The flavor just didn't work, and at that price, this plate is simply not worth ordering. The potato puree tasted like baby food and the meat in the dumplings was gross. - Yellowtail and Wagyu A5 Taquitos -- The yellowtail was bland and cold and Wagyu was tasteless and salty. Also portions are tiny, like a baby taco for $20 each which is ridiculous. - Sushi roll that says it's supposed to be spicy but it has no spice at all and was full of rice and mayo; awful. - Japanese Wagyu A5 Bowl ($88) -- Absolutely awful. We could barely find any meat in what turned out to be an enormous bowl of rice and mushrooms. They said it had 2 ounces of meat, which was inaccurate, more like .02 ounces. The plate was salty and disgusting. We told our server we couldn't eat it, the manager came over and removed it from the bill, which was the right call, he also agreed with us and said he's received several complaints about this dish, but the fact that it was served that way to begin with is inexcusable. Rainforest Dessert -- White chocolate, ice cream, chocolate crumble with spongey green looking grass bush that was tasteless. We barely touched it. More like leave it in the rainforest. Skip it entirely. My four year old niece has made better desserts. The restaurant itself is beautiful with nice views of the city. But none of that excuses the food, which was largely inedible, or a bill that reflected none of the quality it promised. Also the music sounded like it was on repeat the entire night and the crowd was awful. My boyfriend wanted to celebrate his birthday here, and it was a real letdown. So so so damn good! Vibes were on point, food was delicious, and the servers were awesome. Was excited to try this place since it's a Brazilian Japanese ultimate combination and it did not disappoint. The best thing was definitely the Pao de queijo, we ended up having 3 orders of it!! Insanely fluffy, mochilike and the butter was amazing. Perfect for date night, company event, etc. I am coming back for sure! read more

Celebrated my birthday here with my best friend and it was so amazing. We didn't want it to end !! Finally a rooftop in LA that actually measures up!! I loved everything from the orange aesthetic and 70's style to the music vibes - they have a live DJ. And not to mention the service was so great we felt so welcomed! All the rolls we ordered were so fresh, and I highly recommend getting the Brazilian cheese balls with truffle butter, I'm gonna be dreaming about it for weeks! Can't wait to go back! read more

My cousin reserved this spot for my birthday dinner and it was truly a great time!! Our waiter Nick was very attentive and super personable and we were so glad to have him around for the evening.Other wait staff does hang out to ensure plates are removed in a timely manner and drinks are filled! The space was just stunning! Bright, fun, welcoming but not overwhelming with decor. The seating is comfy and i love that the booths are round so you can really enjoy your meal with your company. We enjoyed the 5 course signature taste of samba for the table and was not disappointed. Everything was cooked perfectly or just melted like butter in your mouth. Everything in this course paired beautifully together. Went back to SUSHISAMBA Los Angeles and had an amazing experience. The service was excellent from start to finish--attentive, welcoming, and really made the night feel special. Everyone who served us was amazing. A special shoutout to our server, Angel, who was outstanding throughout the evening. Everything flowed smoothly, and the hospitality felt effortless. The food was incredible across the board. Everything we tried was flavorful and well-executed, but the cod was absolutely to die for--easily the standout of the night. The martini was also on point and perfectly made. A special thank you to Skylar for the warm hospitality and for inviting us back--it was a thoughtful touch and truly made a difference. I celebrated my birthday at sushisamba over the weekend and it has quickly become my new FAVORITE spot! Immediately when you enter you feel like you have been teleported to Tulum, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful and I love the soft music played by the DJ. The food was impeccable. The Salmon Seviche is an absolute MUST!! The sauce has such a unique tart flavor that just pairs perfectly with the fish. The green bean tempura with truffle sauce is good, but feel free to venture other apps on the menu too. I loved the Kari Kari, definitely another must. We tried two of the specialty rolls, the Samba LA and El Topo. I really loved how fresh the Samba LA tasted, but frankly there was nothing in the roll that warranted the $48 price tag. El Topo was also good, interesting touch with the mozzarella, but I don't know if I will order again. I think in future visits I will be sticking to their basic rolls and nigiri's, because the spicy tuna handroll was truly impeccable, one of the best I've had, such fresh fish. I also loved their dirty martini and my friends really enjoyed the other cocktails they ordered off the menu. I also want to shout out their service. Everything was great but what particularly made them standout was when they were trying to retract the roof with the sunset. They attempted to do so several times, but it was still too early and the sun was too blinding so one of the managers checked in on us immediately both times and returned the roof to a comfortable angle. Overall, fantastic experience that I will be recommending you everyone living in or visiting LA, especially as the location makes going out after so convenient. read more

Great new rooftop to sit at the bar and partake in the scene. It had a Miami vibe which may or may not be your thing. It was busy and had that new energy to it but still a bit chaotic until they get everything running smoothly. You can't eat at the bar or the tables in the bar area. It's worth checking out and grabbing a cocktail. read more

Changing my review from 2 stars to 1. The team seems more focused on replying to Yelp and Instagram comments than actually improving the restaurant. This feels like a typical LA spot--high prices, average (at best) food, and poor service dressed up with a trendy design to create the illusion of luxury. Instead of addressing real issues, the chef responds to every negative review online, but nothing actually changes. Portions are still underwhelming (the hamachi crudo was basically a few tiny pieces), and the service is still lacking. What's missing is accountability--no effort to fix the experience, no attempt to make it right, just generic responses. It comes off as performative rather than genuine. Would not return. read more

Such a great addition to the LA dining scene. We don't have enough rooftop restaurants especially on the Westside. Even though they have only been open a few days, everything is on point. Extremely cordial and professional staff, beautiful outdoor design, bonus points for generous spacing between tables so you don't need to listen to your neighbor's conversations. Food and cocktails were excellent with great presentation. Pao de quejo and Rainforest white chocolate desserts were highlights. Definitely will be back read more

I dined at Sushi Samba last night and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience that I feel needs to be brought to your attention. About 4-5 hours after returning home, I became extremely ill with what appears to be food poisoning, which made for a very uncomfortable and concerning night. Given Sushi Samba's reputation and price point, I truly expected a much higher standard when it comes to food quality and safety. Getting sick after a meal is not only upsetting, but it also raises serious concerns about food handling and freshness in the kitchen. I'm sharing this because I genuinely think it's important for your team to look into what may have gone wrong and ensure that proper precautions are being taken so that other guests don't have a similar experience. Dining out should feel enjoyable and safe, especially at an establishment of this caliber. I do hope this is taken seriously and handled with the level of care and professionalism that your brand represents. read more

I was so excited to celebrate my birthday with my son , place it's beautiful , we had to wait an hour for our food it wasn't even busy , the left us s sitting there didn't bother to ask if everything was ok , food I was expecting a lot more , asked for medium rare and it was over cooked and they forgot to bring one of our order , so we had to canceled it ( we had to go ) !
