The food was good. I would say overall 7/10. It is overpriced and small portion. The ambiance was beautiful. The seating was so amazing. It's nice for date night. 9/10 The service was so welcoming and friendly. Our server recommended great choices and was knowledgeable about the menu.

Great service, great views and an absolutely fantastic tomahawk steak. Went here for my sisters birthday for the first time - I recommend getting the valet or an uber as there is no free parking at the restaurant. We had a pretty big party so we had to be seated outside, but couples and groups of 4 can possibly be seated inside the illustrious garden room. Food came out promptly and I would recommend: - yamashiro roll - tomahawk steak - oysters of the day - yellowtail carpaccio - truffle fries Views are worth especially if you're bringing a date, and I would highly recommend if you're looking for a novel dining experience. They also have a photographer, who can take photos for you and your party for a price :)

Had a great time, it was beautiful. Great service, good food, amazing views. The dash mini pizza was my absolute favorite, I could've eaten 5 of those. Sit outside if you can, stunning views and the place is ginormous!

Recommend coming around sunset and sitting in the outdoor area! It's so cute and vibey. They play good music and all the staff is kind and welcoming very polite. My server was so patient as I asked many questions and helped me navigate the menu. We ordered a lot: 3 New York steaks - soft and tasty, comes by itself you will want sides Sweet potato side - delicious, must have Calamari - good, fried to perfection. Added lemon and it was good Octopus - amazing, flavorful, texture was great Spicy tuna crispy rice - soooooooo goooood Spicy crunch roll - my daughter liked it Spicy edamame - typical nothing special but it's good Bday cheesecake - sooooo goood Chamomile shaved ice - refreshing Chocolate cheesecake - AMAZING (not pictured I took it to go)

    Beautiful view of the city!

After countless Yamashiro visits through the years, I've seen a decline in recent times (let's say post-pandemic) that truly saddens my soul. This review is strictly on where things seem to stand today, and what I experienced during the last ~3 times I've dined here. Location - still as amazing as ever. 5/5 for the views, where it sits above Hollywood, and the proximity to Magic Castle. The only consistent part, truly, and that's simply because they can't change it! Brunch - I was not impressed with the offerings and, ultimately, how it all tasted. 3/5 because dinning in the late morning offers gorgeous views, sunny and uplifting weather, cute sun dress attire, and the dishes are meant to be fun and creative - it just doesn't hit like it should, and especially at that price point. Valet - what the hell happened with valet? Why is it such a hot mess now? Why are cars just stacked up wherever? How does the cost make sense based on service and convenience? I was genuinely concerned that there would be a bumper cars situation, and waiting on our cars took foreverrrrr. 2/5 for ending each visit on a slightly sour note. "Patio Seating" - in the age of COVID and social distancing, they started just adding more and more tables and chairs to the driveway leading up to Yamashiro. Hello, no wonder valet has taken a huge hit - there's less and less space to actually park! I guess they want to fit as many patrons as possible to maximize revenue, but sitting somewhere on the sloped driveway and feeling your table and chair teeter around is not fun or comfortable, even despite the cool views. I do like the lights at night, but the cons outweigh the pros. I would've expected them to clear up the driveway, given we are no longer social distancing. 2/5. Interior garden seating - I like garden seating a lot, minus the mosquitos and flies. I must be doing something wrong because I haven't been able to get a reservation out there (or, rather, in there?) in years. Positives: nice spot to take pics, and you're right by the restroom. Negatives: a lot of people walk about the area to take pictures and use the restroom. 4/5. Food - Items that I fondly enjoyed for years just don't look or taste like they used to. My friend speculated that they may have swapped out prime ingredients for lower quality ones, which would make sense to combat cost creep. Still, given how prices go up on the menu, it's a disappointment. You're essentially paying for the vibe and setting as opposed to the food and service, as those don't seem to be as prioritized these days. Food was a 4/5 before 2020 and a 3/5 in 2026. Hillside area - Another aspect I used to love but now barely recognize. The benches are still there and the hillside is generally well-maintained. You can still snap some gorgeous pictures before or after your meal. However, the areas down below where you could sit, hang out, and grab a drink are closed off or no longer available. It's not always feasible to even get to the statues. There's a hookah lounge of sorts down there. 3.5/5. Service - I alluded to this earlier but service is nowhere near as attentive as it once was. Perhaps it's because they pack so many people on site. Perhaps they don't have enough staff during peak hours. 3.5/5. All in all, Yamashiro is such an iconic part of LA. I hope things improve and I will not give up on them, but I also won't be rushing back.

Always wanted to come here because I'd heard about the views, and they definitely lived up to the hype! Excellent views of the city, and we came on a clear day, so we could see for miles! The decor is excellent! I love Japan, and have been there twice, so the style of the building and the walkable path with the koi ponds really spoke to me! Loved that they had a bar to grab a drink before being seated, despite it being an obvious cash grab lol. The rolls we got were delicious, and we overall enjoyed our night very much!

Very delicious food and the service was very wonderful. The server recommended to us a couple of options and they were all really good. The two of us shared 2 sushi rolls and the New York strip steak and a squash miso soup. All of them were amazing. We also had a really nice view of downtown LA. I didn't like where we sat only because the guests that were waiting to be seated were hovering over us.

This is a go-to place when I want to dine with friends or visitors. Reservations are a must and seating is available indoors and on the patio. I've got to say their service is at an exceptionally high level. The waiters are knowledgeable and answered all our questions. I was part of a group of six persons and we were seated on the patio. The city view added to the exquisite ambiance. Parking is all valet and no nearby street parking is available. I'm not a fan of valet parking but the price was reasonable and we didn't have a long wait to get our car retrieved after dinner. I had the Chilean Sea Bass. It was a healthy cut and very well presented and very delicious. For desert we shared a few orders of Banana Doughnuts which really hit the spot. It was another great dining experience.

My husband and I came here for a date night, and we had a really great experience. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the views are absolutely incredible, especially around sunset. The sushi was fresh and delicious, and we truly enjoyed everything we ordered. The only small downside was the service timing - our appetizers arrived much faster than our drinks, and at times we had to wait a little longer for our server. But overall, we really enjoyed our evening. Great food, beautiful atmosphere, and amazing views. Definitely a lovely place for a date night!

So my 1st time here and was excited to know this is the restaurant where they filmed the Crazy 88 scene in Kill Bill. (If youve not seen the movie, go watch it). From the moment we got out if our party bus, you can almost feel the energy this place gives. I'm immediately greeted by amazing hilltop views even before we go in thru the main entrance. Walking in, theres a vibe only Hollywood brings. Then we got to order our meals. I chose (of course) rib eye steak (pictured). Bro this was cooked to perfection and absolutely slaps! Even the carrots were on point! Flavors were so tasty and just the right amount of savory. Seasoned so well, i could've eaten a double portion. (I didnt) dessert came out afterwards and our whole party was wiped out. If you plan to come dine here, #1- make sure u get reservations way ahead of time to get good seating (although nothing is totally guaranteed). #2- come hungry, #3 - have enough funds to try as much food as possible. Will not disappoint! Great job Yamashiro..

In the rover with the roof gone, we pulled up like Jimmy Neutron with champagne bottles as a carry-on, gotta move on like oh darn. The sun was coming down when we arrived, but don't worry we got ice bright enough to lit up the whole room. We got seated outside with a marvelous view of LA, the city of angels embellish by bright lights and colors that won't fade in the night. It was the weekend so you know the party doesn't stop especially with Shohei Otani around now. Up in the hills high above and you feel opulence from the vibe, design, and ministration displayed by this restaurant. Its part of the experience. Our waiter was super friendly and patient with all of us. I forgot her name, but she had a nice pristine smile that made me wanna buy more drinks. It was contagious I tell you that, lol. We ordered the large Sushi Boat ($415) that can feed all six of us, Spicy Edamame ($14), and hella cocktails ($17 each) such as the Hibiscus Highball, Gin and Tonic, Yellow Dragon, Ryujin, and the Silk Whisper. There were various kinds of different sushi like salmon, bluefin tuna, yellow tail, and etc arranged exquisitely on a wooden boat for a dramatic presentation. None of the fish was fishy nor smelly. My favorite is definitely the bluefin tuna. The night was filled with laughs, good talks, and memories that will last a lifetime. Don't worry about being buzzed though, we were good, alright lol. If you want to take your mom here, do it! Take your woman here too? That's fine as well. Even having a guys night here is awesome! Just do it like Nike. You won't regret it. I read the ratings here on yelp beforehand, and honestly I had a blast despite what others have written. I forgot how much the bill was, but it doesn't matter, people. As long as they or she is not hangry, I'm good! Its okay to be selfish for once and treat yourself to some fine dining If I do say so myself. And like they always say, "You don't need a silver fork to eat good food!"

5.8.26 By far one of the prettiest--and largest--restaurants I've ever visited. It overlooks the city, offering beautiful vantage points for photos, from the scenic views to the restaurant's exterior and gardens. Plenty of guests were taking selfies, and it's easy to see why. My husband and I walked from our hotel, and the uphill climb was definitely a bit of a workout. The restaurant is tucked behind the Magic Castle, and because of its elevation, it's noticeably windier. We opted to sit on the patio, and even with multiple heat lamps turned up high, I was still cold. I wore a light cotton dress with a jean jacket and definitely wasn't prepared for the chilly, windy conditions. As for the food, I ordered the braised short ribs with a side of white rice, while my husband had the chicken katsu and California rolls. He enjoyed the rolls but found the katsu to be just average. I felt similarly about the short ribs--they were decent, but not particularly memorable. For dessert, I had the salted honey tiramisu, which I enjoyed more than my entrée. The service, however, was excellent. Our server was attentive, personable, and checked in regularly without being intrusive. We ended up chatting for a bit and learned he used to live in the DC area, not far from where we are in Maryland. Overall, the ambiance and views were truly the highlight--definitely one of the most memorable parts of our LA visit.

    Kara L.

The views are amazing! You really get a nice view of LA and you can even spot the Hollywood sign. Getting up to the restaurant can be a tight drive. It's valet parking only $20 The ambience is great and they have outdoor seating or also indoor seating with a cute pond inside. Service was a bit on the slower end. And our server didn't look too nice I got the grilled octopus but portion was very small and a bit salty. Didn't really think it was worth the price. Food was okay overall, nothing special to me. I came for a birthday and I think it's nice to come for a celebration esp for pictures. But that would be the only reason I'd come.

Making a reservation was very easy, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted right away and seated promptly. The ambiance was warm and inviting. The restaurant is a bit dimly lit, but it really adds to the cozy and upscale atmosphere. One thing I immediately noticed was how clean all of the grills were. We chose the AYCE option (around $55 per person), and the pricing for kids was very reasonable. Our 5-year-old was charged a reduced rate, while our 3-year-old ate free, which was a nice bonus for families. The selection of meats was excellent, with plenty of options to choose from. They do have a 90-minute dining limit and a surcharge for excessive leftovers, but that wasn't an issue for us because everything was delicious. The appetizer selection was surprisingly large. We enjoyed the beef fried rice, noodles, a sushi roll, crispy tofu, chicken karaage, and shiitake mushrooms. The crispy tofu turned out to be spicier than we expected, so just keep that in mind if ordering for kids. However, spice lovers will probably enjoy it! The chicken karaage was a huge hit with the kids, especially with the spicy mayo on the side. The shiitake mushrooms were also incredibly flavorful and well-seasoned. We also ordered crispy rice spicy tuna, we loved it too! What really stood out was the service. Every server we encountered was kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Instead of simply dropping off food and walking away, they took time to check in, ask how we were doing, and connect with us. That personal touch made the experience feel special. We only ordered water since we had already had plenty of drinks earlier in the day, but they offer a variety of beverages as well. For dessert, we tried the mochi ice cream special--two for $5--which was a fantastic deal. In San Diego, it's common to pay around $5 for just one mochi ice cream, so we were pleasantly surprised. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and are so happy we chose Oku-Niku for my birthday celebration. Great food, excellent service, a family-friendly atmosphere, and a memorable dining experience. We'll definitely be back!

Hot item Filet: 4/5 bites good Beef belly: 5/5 bites Crispy Rice is good ratio. along with other hot dishes, Truffle Roll: 4/5 bites I am not a "roll" fan but this one melts in your mouth! delicious/ it's Hot! Get the Yuzu Chousu ( def misspelled it) but the spicy wasabi yuzu paste 5/5 Yum Delicious cuts and variety for a nice price. Excellent service, If you're tempted to try but not committing to the din price tags try them for the lunch special. Parking may be tricky as the area is typically busy but we usually find street parking nearby, a nice walk is good after a AYCE. PSA/FYI: for Me -- "HOT" is not literal for spice/temp but for a Like/loveable item!

We came across RedWhite on Yelp and saw that they were open until midnight. The restaurant is small and intimate and has a small parking lot. We were able to find street parking right in front. There were a few people dining when we got there. We ordered at the counter and the staff brought our food to our table. We tried the 3 sushi rolls, fried dumplings, and the Yuzu Sesame Ramen. The ramen was by far my favorite dish! It was delicious and flavorful! I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely visit again to try the other ramen options.

Especially one open very late most nights! So many times after a long late work day I had no options for food, having a gluten allergy and being vegan, so now this is where I can go and expect a nearly perfect ramen every time. The no. 10 ramen (that has no broth) is my favorite. The ramen with broth is on the thicker side, and every type is good. They kinda all taste very similar to be honest. But even for people that eat meat, all the flavor is still present in the broth and ingredients. The atmosphere is also very nice and dark, with a decent amount of seats and nice background music playing, no annoying top 40 stuff. Always some nice electronic music that isn't too energetic or too sleepy. Sometimes there can be loud people but that really can't be helped in todays culture unfortunately, especially LA. I do wish they had more caffeine free drink options. Maybe some liquid death sodas, la crouix, or lemonade options would go well with the ramen or rolls! **The only other thing to keep in mind is that they tend to stop serving within a half hour of closing and sometimes they close early, might be best to order ahead or call if you intend on coming by around closing time, I was very disappointed two times because of this. ** Also, there is a shared lot and usually open spots on the street too. I recommend parking on the street as the parking lot can be a bit chaotic.

Located on Ventura Boulevard, Sushi Tomoki is a small, intimate sushi restaurant with a clean, minimalist Japanese aesthetic and a relaxed atmosphere that lets the food take center stage. (The Infatuation) Since we were dining with our 22-month-old, we requested a table instead of sitting at the sushi bar, and the staff was very accommodating. They even prepared a customized tamago sushi roll for our little one, which he absolutely enjoyed. The omakase was thoughtfully paced, with each piece served one at a time so we could fully appreciate every bite. The fish was incredibly fresh, and every piece practically melted in our mouths. The attention to detail and quality of the ingredients really stood out. The only piece that wasn't my favorite was the sushi topped with mint. It simply wasn't my personal preference, though I'm sure those who enjoy mint with savory dishes would appreciate it. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone was warm, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. They made my sister's birthday even more special by singing Happy Birthday and surprising her with complimentary sherbet and four pieces of green tea mochi--a thoughtful touch that ended the evening on a high note. Overall, Sushi Tomoki delivered a memorable omakase experience with outstanding sushi, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

We walked in at 6:40pm and got a nice welcome from Mediko. Without having a reservation, she sat us down immediately. Our server Meika approached us right away to take our order. We started off with a standard size of Garlic Edamame ($6.80), and then ordered few other cut rolls. Spicy Tuna Cut Roll--for 10 pieces ($14.80), Albacore Fried Onion Roll-- count of 12 for ($20.80), Zero Roll-- count of 12 for ($25.00), Rainbow Roll-- count of 12 for ($10.80). Everything was so LIGHT, FRESH and DELICIOUS!!! They also have hand rolls, and other types of cut rolls. They have street and metered parking. Before I forget, we ordered Crispy Rice Tuna that came in (2) pieces for (13.50). The minute I saw that, it made me laugh. Called our server and told her to take that back and remove it from the bill which she gladly did. I thought it was going to be an actual full course rolls. They also have dessert but we didn't order anything. Restaurant was very quaint, limited decor, very busy for Monday mid evening, and was very nice and clean. Total came out to be $95.70 including tax minus the tip. I'm sure they also have a bathroom, but we didn't end up using it. I will return, but not any time soon. They also don't have any Bento Box type of food. Very authentic place to go on a date, friends, family or even dine solo. They also have a Sushi Bar. Alcohol wise, only have beer, wine and sake along with 2 fridges full of cold drinks.. Thank you all very much!!
