Review in progress...apparently, I came to check out Suzy Siu's on its very first day, so while unfair of me to review so early, first impressions do count...I will visit a couple more times and update my review. The menu- it is on their Instagram page (instagram.com/suzysius). Simple and easy to order from, with 2 columns listing out baos and sides, and "sets" where you can combo it. Except, as I found out, you can't have wontons as your side in a set. Missing asterisk, I guess. I have been to their Makan/Taiyo location in Decatur before so I knew I enjoyed their pork belly buns. I ordered 3 baos- 1. Korean BBQ beef/scallion salad/cilantro: Very salty but beef was tender and tasty- promising if they can bring the salt level down and can even out the salad to counteract the salt. 2. Pork belly/cilantro/pickled onion/pecan sugar: Just as good as the Decatur version, especially the pecan sugar. Pickled onion was in one big chunk though, so not easy to eat. 3. Fried fish/napa cabbage slaw: Nice crunch & more subtle flavor to the slaw and fried fish, though probably the least authentic...since I like versions of fish sandwich/taco, I had to order this. Tip: Probably shouldn't order as takeout since baos are best when fresh and hot, but I was so exhausted and just wanted food to take home. Suzy Siu's location in KSM, next to Jeni's Ice Cream, has a few counter stools if you wanted to eat there. Food was prepared quickly; the 2 employees at the counter were friendly. Suzy Siu's Baos is located inside Krog Street Market (along with many other food stands) and man I'm glad I gave this one a try! They have a good variety of options to choose from and it's reasonably priced! Here are my thoughts and recommendations... 1. Try some baos! I tried the Korean BBQ Beef, Pork Belly (my fav), Shrimp Patty, and Korean Fried Chicken and they were are filling and flavorful. 2. Mapo Tofu Fries- Explosion of goodness in your mouth! The portion is on the larger side so they're perfectly shareable for 2 people. 3. Ramen (Tonkotsu)- this creamy pork broth will have you slurping and not caring WHO's listening. Man this is a solid bowl of Ramen and I highly recommend ordering this on a cold and/or rainy day. Overall, we freaking love Suzy Siu's in Krog Street Market! Mmm, fusion and baozi! This was a great place to get food to eat while I walked! I had the shrimp and OF COURSE the pork belly (Why eat anywhere that has pork belly and not eat pork belly? Be wary if ordering vegetarian/vegan or have any food allergies. I ordered the vegan ramen. They were out of the impossible meat which was fine. Halfway through my meal I chewed on meaty texture. Perhaps the mushrooms? But unfortunately no, small pieces of chicken were in my broth. So disappointed. Took back to cashier. He quickly went to the back, returned to the register and started processing a refund without a single word or apology. The lack of attention and acknowledgment of mistake is irritating here. I asked to speak to the manager and the chef/cook came out. He said he was sorry. Wouldn't be so disappointed if they didn't advertise a "vegan" option. If they're not equipped or staffed to eliminate cross contamination, don't offer alternative menu options. Basic food safety. read more

Exquisite bread, efficient service, unbelievable fries. Having never tried a nap prior to this I was skeptical of the overall dining experience - would I really be full from such a tiny item? My skepticism quickly dissipated as the warm doughy goodness of Suzy Siu's encapsulated my tastebuds. The combination of being flavorful and filling makes Suzy's an absolute must in my book. Of the many Krog Street Market restaurants that I've been able to try, Suzy Siu's Baos were my favorite. They serve a variety of delicious baos with a modern twist. What I love about Suzy Siu's Baos is that you are able to get a taste of every kind of bao you desire. I got the korean bbq bao, the korean chicken bao, and my all time favorite, the pork belly bao. The korean bbq and korean chicken baos were both spicy, much more spicy than I would have liked, but the pork belly bao was juicy, tender and tasty. The buns themselves were soft and all three baos were the perfect size to make a satisfying meal. The fries, however, were cold and soggy as they were drenched in much more sauce than necessary. read more

Liked the food here, but the portions were too small to justify the price :( Suzy's is located in the Krog Street Market, which overall is an cute place to hang out and have fun with friends. I was craving something Asian, so I passed by all the BBQ joints and found this little place right next to Jeni's. I ordered 2 baos + 1 side, the pork belly and Korean fried chicken baos and the napa cabbage kimchi for the side. The pork belly was delicious - the meat melted in my mouth and the red onions really balanced out the flavor. However, the Korean fried chicken was disappointing - I wasn't expecting it to be a piece of fried chicken dipped in gochujang sauce. Coming from a Korean in SoCal, I thought it was going to be more like the traditional fried chicken that they serve in California. In addition, the napa cabbage kimchi was very meh. Overall, I wasn't that upset that the Korean food was subpar, but the main reason I can't give this place more than three stars is that I was still pretty hungry after eating! P.S. Funny story, I was sitting next to a couple of people who thought the white portion of the bao was cheese... For anyone else wondering, it's bread! LOL read more

My favorite place to get slightly authentic Baos! I've been going to Suzy Siu's since the first day they opened, it became my go to spot after Simply Seoul closed at PCM. My all time favorite is of course the popular pork belly option, but they do have pretty delicious tofu Baos. They've recently expanded their menu with new Bao choices and side items. The good: Today my family and I visited Suzy Siu's Baos and we LOVED our bao buns. I ordered the 2 baos and a side - fried green tomato and pork belly buns & togarashi tater tots. - YUM! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and looked like the pictures (I like when my food looks like what is advertised). I would definitely recommend place AND I will be returning on my next visit. The not so great: I am really big on customer service and believe that if you are the first face I see that it should be welcoming. I did not receive that today. The cashier I believe her name was Jasmine (African american woman with short blondish hair - she had on a army green hat today) was rude and not very welcoming . * The first thing that I noticed was that Jasmine had on earbuds and singing to whatever it was she was listening to while dealing with customers - not very welcoming * When it was my turn to order, I greeted her with a smile - blank stare * I asked her about the tater tots - blank stare (mind you she just handed another customer their order...which had tater tots) * After I ordered she left the counter and almost bumped into me - no excuse me or apology * When my order was ready she pushed my order toward me, I said thank you and another warm smile - blank stare and she walked away Outside of the poor customer service, I REALLY enjoyed my TASTY food read more

Ho hum. I got the KFC (Korean fried chicken) and the fried fish bao. I am by no means an expert but I found the texture of these bao too heavy and dry, instead of the springy, spongy pillows of doughy goodness I've eaten before. Honestly, they didn't seem very fresh. The KFC was pleasantly slightly spicy but too much sauce made the bun fall apart. The fish was bland and not very memorable. Perhaps it was just an off day, but with so many other dining options at Krog Street Market, I won't be in a hurry to waste any more calories here. read more

I visited this spot for the 2nd time yesterday. Came back because I was so impressed with the vegetarian Baos and wanted to try a new kind (they have a few to choose from and on the larger side. I usually order two). I was looking forward to trying the turnip green bao but unfortunately they were sold out. I ordered the vegan ramen instead. It was very disappointing. There was absolutely no flavor to this dish. The vegan broth lacked and distinctive taste. I will definitely not order this dish again. On the bright side the employee was really nice! Located in Krog Street Market, wife and i stopped by to try some Baos and see what they were. Of the 3 that we ordered, all were tasty, although the doe was a bit thick for my tastes. The meats were flavorful, and the sauces that were on each Bao made it unique. The service seemed slow, we were the only people at the bar/table, and when the first order came out we got excited, only to see it go to someone that must have ordered a togo when we wern't their. As something to try, i would definitely not pass up the opportunity to taste these as they are cheap enough to get as an appetizer! read more

It has been a few long months since visiting Krog st. Market. After visiting recently, I'm kind of glad that we did. Suzy Siu's Baos is a cute little stop and shop for Baos. We had the Korean fried chicken style, Pork belly, and the turnip cake. We also devoured some tofu fries. Believe it or not my absolute favorite was the turnip cake. The consistency of the Bao is perfect and sweet to the taste. Added with some korean touch of their infamous fried chicken or even pork belly was amazing. read more

I'm definitely a fan! I stick pretty much exclusively to the pork belly bao- the meat is melt-in-your-mouth tender (as pork belly should be!), then you combine it with the crunch of the pickled red onion, the freshness of cilantro, & the sweetness from the pecan sugar & everything comes together beautifully. The bao are stuffed absolutely full as well, typically with 2 good-sized pieces of meat on them. It's making me hungry just thinking about it! The service has also been exemplary every time I've gone, from the patient cashier waiting for me to decide if I wanted something right before they closed, or the sweetheart who saved a spot for me at the counter while I grabbed water. They will also sell unfilled bao in case you want to make bao at home, which was exciting & convenient when I wanted to make duck bao at home without going to Buford. Alll in all, this place gives me warm fuzzy feelings & I highly recommend giving them a try. read more

I think this is one of the best deals in Krog Street Market. Very reasonably priced for 2 or 3 buns and a side (at least for this neighborhood). And delicious. Located in the back of the market next to Jeni's. Usually the line isn't too long and moves pretty quickly. The baos are very good - nice and fluffy, soft. The pork belly bao is my favorite, with melt in your mouth, crispy pork belly and pickled red onions. The KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) bao is also spicy and good. The beef is nicely marinated and the Korean spices come through. I wasn't a huge fan of the fried green tomato bao, but I generally find fried green tomatoes to be kind of bland so YMMV. The Kimchi Fritters side is awesome - very unique and flavorful, and served with a nice dipping sauce. I've also had the Korean Street Corn which is pretty good, but not as good as the fritters (or the amazing street corn at Bartaco...but I digress) All in all, this is a solid place to eat in Krog Street Market and I will continue to go there regularly! read more

Suzy Siu's left me feeling conflicted after a visit on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We decided to try it after seeing several other people in Krog Street Market with orders from there that looked delicious. We settled on two sides- the Korean street corn and the togarashi tater tots. The corn was quite boring. While we were expecting an elote-style fusion dish, this was simply a plain corn cob dusted with Korean spices. Also, the quality of the corn was subpar and almost certainly frozen. The tater tots were much better- hot, crispy and topped with a spicy mayonnaise sauce and Japanese spices. They were very good, and saved our experience somewhat. However, again, they were straight from the freezer aisle- not bad tasting, but I expect a little more coming from a restaurant. The wait for our simple order was extraordinarily long, which didn't bother us as we were hanging out, but it would bother me if I came for a quick takeout order or a weekday lunch. Overall, Suzy Siu's isn't horrible, but I was a bit disappointed by the long wait and substandard ingredients. read more

One of the worst ramen I've had in Atlanta. I ordered the shio ramen with a pork belly meat for dine-in.when the food came out the soup was separated from the noodles in a separate plastic container. now why would they even do that if they knew that I was going to eat right there in front of them. Because of this the noodles are bunched up together pre-cooked and way overcooked. Each strand of the noodles was short and chunky and crumpy. I had to use my chopstick to breaking apart the noodles. it was type of noodle you can get from Japanese store that's already semi-cooked and only thing you had to do was deport some hot water. Only thing good about it was the pork meat. He was soft and tasty. Aside from the food service was horrible. The guy didn't even greet or even thank me or ask me for any type of drinks. I have ordered multiple times from this place and they have amazing food that I would order at least once a week. However after a very unpleasant encounter with the black chef there, I stopped ordering. I ordered through Uber eats pick up and was waiting to get noticed by the chef in front of the store. The chef saw me and kept on yelling "WE'RE CLOSED WE'RE CLOSED" even when I explained to him I already ordered 40 min ago for pick up and the app said it was ready. He did not even listen and just kept on yelling like I did not understand English. He finally acknowledged that he misunderstood and gave me my order. He did not even apologize for being extremely rude. You do not speak to a customer like that. read more

Love these baos! I've been here a couple of times and split six ($20). You can also get 3 + 1 side for $12 which is a pretty good deal. Pork belly is perfect, you get a generous portion of pork. Flavors are great. The beef is tasty, sweeter but still good. Fried chicken is drenched in a spicy gochujang-based sauce but it's still crispy and tasty (too spicy for my mom but I liked it!) Buns themselves are a good texture, not overly cooked and soft like the ones in Ponce sometimes are. Kimchi fritters are good, but I do wish there was more kimchi to everything else ratio or generally more spiciness. Sweet potato salad and cucumber salad are both good ! Also tried the spicy wontons which are an upcharge but tasty and not toooo spicy either. The people that work there have always been nice and the food has always come out quickly. read more

I have seen Baos before and was a little deterred because the bread looked pale, thick and like it might be chewy in a doughy weird kind of way. Pretty much these are steam buns or I like to think of them as Asian Tacos (or mini sandwiches). Anyway...I was strolling through Krog and I saw a nice simple menu and a short bar with stools that made me wonder. The words pork belly on the menu did catch my eye (or tummy's attention). So I stopped, asked the staff who was at the register question about each bao (by the way she was extremely knowledgeable) and it honestly wasn't hard to go with the pork belly....Needless to say I was not disappointed. At. All. The pork belly was cooked well and had a nice crispy texture and lightly sweet taste along the edges. That was the first great part. Next the bun!...Ummm not what I dreaded...Instead it was an awesome soft, bready, moist but in a wet, damp or soggy kind of way. The only way I can describe it is as perfect! So, anyway...I fell in love as I continued to walk and I decided to walk back and order another and try the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) Bao. The pork belly was perfect again and the KFC was fried perfectly and a little spicy. Pork Belly was still my fav. I also tried the Kimchi Fritters and I just wasn't impressed. While they were fried perfectly with a nice crunch, the outside was overly coated in paprika and the inside was a little mushy and pretty much what I was scared a Bao would taste like! Okay so you can pretty much order Baos in singles $4+ or in twos $9 or threes $11 with a choice of a side. Good deal in my opinion! read more
