Omg!!! Wagyu beef! I have looked longingly at the pricey cuts at Costco over the years....sigh...Out of my budget. This tiny pearl of a butcher/burger joint deep in Poway meets the mark in every way! The folks working here are incredibly friendly! They work well as a team and even with a line outside their customer service is top notch! My friend and I sat at the bar, looked at the menu and waited for a proper table. The guys behind the bar were chatty, friendly and helpful! When a table opened up we were able to transition easily and our orders were served up quickly and hot! The Wagyu (double) burgers were about $20 and WORTH EVERY PENNY!! Wagyu is the way... Oh! Did I mention the golden crispy onion rings!!! Worth ever sinful calorie. Alas, if you can't bring yourself to lay down $20 for a burger, they have fantastic specials on USDA prime beef burgers as well. Hint...before 5pm. The people are 5 star The food is 5 star And for plant lovers out there...the museum of beautiful cared for indoor plants are just stunning. Eater San Diego featured Swagu and they had an event with their food truck on Mother's day. We went and got in the line for our burgers. After ordering we went inside to see the store it was interesting and very cool. Anyway, back to the burgers. We grabbed our food and went home to eat. The burgers are 1/3 American, 1/3 Australian and 1/3 Japanese Wagu beef. What a great combination! The burgers were melt in your mouth delicious. They had 2 patties, cheese and pickles that were more sweet than savory but it was a combination that worked well. I really should have only had half of the burger, but I just couldn't stop eating it. Next thing I know it was gone! What a burger! Starting with the soft bun, melted cheese, secret sauce, fresh pickles, and crispy-edged smashed double wagyu patties. Big compliment to this burger-eating experience was the shake. Vanilla with bits of wagyu fat brownies, Holy cow ! Now that was not the first thing to note about my first time here, but I couldn't help but write about that first. As you can see in the pics, the place is decked out really nice with style and class. I was surprisingly and pleasantly greeted when I walked in. 3 times at this location, 3 times in PB... this location just seems off, really disorganized and poor service. Ordered a few burgers first time around and they were given to someone else. This is after I had gone up and asked twice about my order after I was pretty sure I saw them given to someone else... they basically told me to relax and then admitted it. No apologies, didn't seem to care about wasting my time. 40 min wait for burgers that are overpriced imo. Second time, bought a few A5 steaks (jacks creek and an Oz one), which were really really amazing. Service wasn't too helpful after spending that amount of money but steaks were some of the best I've had. Today, went back to buy some wagyu for a Sunday dinner... you'd expect a selection to choose from but there was only one option, and 5 steaks available. Person at the register couldn't answer any questions and the person who seemed to have the answers appeared too busy to want to help us (though only 3 customers in the shop eating burgers at the time). The location is quite nice... kinda feels like one of the high end butcher shops where you see the meets before you purchase them. Small dine in area with a nice ambiance. We were greeted immediately with a "Welcome to Swagyu" The young lady was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We kicked around the options and opted for the "El Swagador" 1/2 lb smash burger w/ pork belly, serrano, cheese, pickles, smoked onions, and sauce topped with a brioche bun. The combination of sweet and spicy is relevant with this decadent burger. I shoveled it down and didn't miss a bite! The burger was delicious, and I was successful to not end up wearing any of it. Now I can't do a $28 burger daily, but for the occasion where you wanna impress with out impressing a date or work partner. This is the spot. Came here for the lunch special, which was 1/4 oz burger, fries, and a soda for $18. Soda was the only option and there wasn't even a water option. The burger was flavorful but didn't taste special and was pretty small. Fries looked to be a half portion and it was served in a cardboard togo box that looked like it was lined. This caused the fries to get soggy quickly and they weren't as crispy on the bottom. I also ate it within 2 minutes of it coming out, so there's definitely room for improvement. Stopped here to buy some meats and jerky. As soon as we walked in we got an interesting vibe. No one addressed us or offer to help us, but addressed the person behind us. Being in an interracial relationship we've experienced some weird things, but even after 25 years this was new. It was like being in the twilight zone surrounded by soulless cowards. Review of their food truck at Belching Beaver: I wasn't expecting to spend $28 on a burger and fries, but then again, it's wagyu, so I guess it's rightfully pricey. The smashburger was $18 and consisted of two patties and cheese with house pickles. We got one without cheese to share because I wasn't sure I really wanted an $18 burger, but after one bite, I went and ordered my own without modifications. I actually enjoyed the one without cheese more, and I'm not a fan of the sweet pickles they use, so would omit that next time too. The $10 nitro potatoes was also unexpectedly good -- perfectly crispy outside and fluffy inside. I was fine sharing one serving of that. Overall, it was good and highly recommended if you like wagyu. read more

Highly hopeful of this place due to stuff I've seen online. I ordered the Swagyu Burger and was really excited since I drove a bit out of the way to get here. I also got an order of the fries! They no longer had nitro fries (or never did at this location) which was a bummer because I heard great things. Food came out quick which was great! Will start off with the fries . They were decent but wasn't sure about the seasoning. It tasted like those Taco Bell/mexican seasoning you get at the grocery story for ground beef. The fries were a bit under cooked in some sections where I ate around. Not a big deal or the main issue . The big issue I had that caused my 2 star rating: I ordered the swagyu burger which cost $36 ish dollars with the fries . I believe the burger alone was $28. As I stated it came out quick because the cook was cooking about 10 burgers at a time but I'd much more appreciate quality control and double checking orders. I got my food and drove home. When I got home and opened the food I realized they gave me someone else's order which was a regular cheese burger which cost $8 dollars. It had non of the things I asked on it and included everything I didn't want. I seen them make it so I know it was correct at the time but didn't watch them package and place it in my bag. So someone got a great deal lol So this review is for the regular burger I did eat which was an ok burger. It was juicy and had a good flavor . Visited the Swagyu Burger in Poway. The young man taking the orders was very nice and helpful. The menu is clear and easy to read. The restaurant is in an older strip mall that could use some TLC. We both had burgers, fries and onion rings. The only flavor I could pick up was from the pickles which were not traditional dill pickles. The flavor of the pickles over powered and took away from the burger. If you don't like these particular pickles it will affect how you feel about the burger (which is why I didn't finish mine... It wasn't to my liking). When comparing this place to other burger places it's pretty low on my list. It's worth a try as my boyfriend really liked his burger. read more
