went for the first time to give it a try . the burger was good but the fries seemed a little off. i'm a big fan of 5 Guys fries and they were not near that level. i might go back for a burger if i was in the area.

First time visiting Swagyu Burger in Poway and I was impressed! Interesting place with a handful of tables and friendly, energetic service. I ordered the ¼ lb Classic Smash Burger and it was very tasty. Made with all the traditional LTOP fixin's, American cheese, plus spread on a brioche bun. The burger tasted great but was kind of a hot mess to handle. I felt like I needed to take two showers when I was done. Overall the balance of ingredients could have been better. Very onion heavy, not enough shrettuce, etc. I think next time I'll have something a little more beef forward like a 2x2 or something. We shared a side of Sidewinder Fries which were delicious. Hot, flavorful, crispy and comes with your choice of two dipping sauces. They don't offer any combo meals here. Everything is priced a la carte, so it winds up costing a small fortune. Especially if you're out as a couple or a family. Note that there is no public restroom at Swagyu Poway which is unfortunate. There is a hand washing station near the front where you order. Wish they had at least beer/wine service here considering the exorbitant cost. It would at least help numb the financial blow.

    Happy wife.

Tried this restaurant for the first time based on an email from Yelp. The location is a small strip center on Twin Peaks in North East Poway. Small basic restaurant was over air conditioned and the rocking music was blasting. We were the only customers and you order at the counter upon entry. The staff was very nice and helpful. We decided to split the $20 OG Swagyu burger, share an order of the Sidewinder Frys. I loved the fries, but my wife thought they and the burger were over salted. The burger was pleasant enough, but I am not sure it was wagyu quality. But I haven't eaten beef in many years so . Doubtful we will return.

There were only two staff members present when we arrived and they were very busy. I had to wait about 7+ minutes to place my order. The cook informed us they had just received an order for 16 burgers so they were busy. Although they were busy I appreciated how friendly he was. There was low upbeat music playing and all the tables were clean. There's plenty of plants all around the restaurants with lights hanging from the ceiling. The decor is pretty cool, I like that you can watch the people make each order in front of you. We ordered two burgers and sweet potato waffle fries for a total of $44. Although it took a while to place the order The food was ready in about 5 minutes. The food was decent tastes similar to a burger from Rallys in my opinion I think I was a little too excited to try it-it wasn't worth the hype. But I did enjoy it

I've heard about this place and finally got to try it. We went for lunch on a Friday. It was pretty quiet and not busy at all. The space is a decent size. We were the only diners. The restroom had "out of order" sign but they let me use it. You had to go through the kitchen to get to it. We ordered two cheese burgers, one Smash burger with Swagyu smash patty, cheese katsu sando, A5 wagyu fat shoestring fries and a brownie. The burgers were good especially the smash burger but i don't think it's worth the price. The shoestring fries were not really shoestrings-ish and I couldn't tell if these wagyu fries taste any different than regular fries. The brownie was still frozen so i asked the staff to make a shake out of it instead. He was nice to accommodate the request. Overall, it's ok. I had higher expectations for this place though.

Service is friendly and order came out at a reasonable time. I came here with three other people and we shared sweet potato crisscross fries, sidewinder fries and onion rings. You do get to choose two sauces to go with your sides! The burger itself was a solid smash burger. I do love that they toast the buns so you get some crispy parts of the bun contrasting the soft interior. Every bite was a little different as I felt the ingredients did overpower each other in some instances. One bite I had, I just tasted onion lol. I didn't mind it too much, it just tasted fresh.

One of my husband's clients recommended Swagyu and we have been hooked since! Love the fast casual way this location operates. They still provide a vibe with good music and an open kitchen concept so you can see the chefs prepare your food while you wait. Service has improved over the years and recently a chef shared with us a jalapeño sauce he was trying out for the day. It was delicious! We had traditionally dined for the Japanese wagyu but the American was so delicious too! I love the way the sidewinder fries are seasoned. It's always a nice treat. There is a small parking lot out front shared with other businesses in the same plaza. There does not appear to be street parking.

El Swagador (cut in half as I split with my partner) + A5 wagyu tallow fries

Burgers are my fave food, so I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time. I'm ecstatic to report, it did not disappoint! Decided to split the 1/2lb El Swagador Burger with a side of the A5 Wagyu Tallow Fries. First of all, this quadruple confirms why I will never become a vegan. I just absolutely can't when a badass double decker burger with decadent pork belly on top exists!!! This burger sucker punched me directly in the mouth with flavor! The pork belly was so tender it basically melted in my mouth. The pickled serranos brought such a delightful kick. Honestly, even if I didn't get it cut in half, this is definitely one of those burgers you can't put down until you're done. You won't be able to stop going in for another bite. Of course the fries were spectacular as well. Why I've never had fries cooked in beef tallow before--and apparently are gluten free? Beats me. But now I'm ruined forever. Guess I'll just have to go back for more. Can't forget the staff! Very lively and friendly guys who are so very helpful about the menu and their recommendations. They even explained the difference between American wagyu and Japanese wagyu (both of which are on the menu). I was surprised we had the whole place to ourselves for a late lunch. I guess the location is in a tight corner of a small shopping strip where parking can be iffy. But dining in provides ample room with plenty of 4 seat tables. It looked like the bathroom was out of order, but we didn't need to use it anyways. Just be warned, the burgers are even BETTER than what they look like in the pictures. AND probably don't plan a long car ride after this meal because you WILL slip into the most satisfying food coma shortly after... perhaps consider a DD?

Too Little to Make Noise About Food: Cheeseburger - nothing extraordinary. Regular burger with basic fixing. Meat sort of lost amongst the sauce and myriad of other items. Bun just a brioche style bun. No big thrills. Fries (YES sold a la cart) - a swirl wedge cut. What else can I say than, for $6, they are wedge cut fries. No special flavoring. Not exceptional. [Ranch is not the best flavor of Ranch. ] Ambiance - gastro pub in style Price = $$ Service = people are nice but there is no distinct vibe of the place that stands out. Of 3 ppl, only 1 even said hi.

The price is outrageous. $15-25 for a burger is high enough but... $10 for a tiny order of completely average fries? Craaaaazy

Excellent burgers, neat and cozy little place to chow down on some delicious beef. The swagador burger is the best. Fast service and nice people.

Ask the Community - Swagyu Burger - Poway

I did not see a smash burger on the menu that is just the 1/4th single patty. Do they have that option? or for the American Wagyu Burger, is there an option to make it a smash burger?

my understanding is all of their burgers are smash burgers

    Can we bring in alcohol?

    Yes

    Do you serve beer?

Not at this location at the moment, but we will be soon!

Are the cooked burgers offered all the days that the business is open?

Swagyu Chop Shop Poway is currently a butcher shop only. We do not offer hot food. Our burger shop will be opening next month (June 2022) at which time we will offer both butcher and burgers every day that we're open.

My experience yesterday evening was absolutely opposite. We were seated at a large round table in the corner at the front of the restaurant. We were 11 seated at this great round table. It was perfect because we could talk with anyone at the table, and see each other. Our server, Hunter was fantastic! Friendly and while waiting other tables she was able to cater to our needs just as well and as fast. She did have another person checking on us when Hunter was not at our table. I did not get her name. Tonight it was hopping with other gatherings taking place. There are TV's lined along the upper half of the wall with all kinds of sports happening being televised. The room is very open with great outdoor seating off to the side of the restaurant. Looked like comfortable seating too. A few of us ladies order appetizers to share. When the platters arrived they were placed on the large lazy Susan in the middle of the table. Appetizers shared: Sampler plate: Gyoza, Shrimp Tempura, Spring Rolls and Cream Cheese Wontons Meatballs Wings Margherita Flatbread Hummus Flatbread My dinner was: PSH Chicken Penne Pasta My drinks: Espresso Martini and Benoit Dearg "red Beer (Barley & Sword Brewery) Red Ale-Irish My Dessert: Beignets to share and Affogato Appetizers were great. Though I did not get to try the meatballs, I was able to enjoy bites of the sampler plate. With the wings I requested the mild sauces to be off to the side. Thank goodness! They were spicy and I do like spicy food. The windows were nice and crispy! Came with carrots and celery sticks. My Chicken Penne Pasta was delicious. I don't know if it was my imagination but there seem to be some sweetness to the sauce. Maybe wine added? My desserts! The beignets were fresh. The arrived with the look of almost a donut hole. They were piping hot. The bread was light, with a bit of dense texture. Very delicious. My affogato was amazing. If you love coffee this might be for you. I had my first affogato in Italy, this is the 2nd best. The hot espresso mixed into the vanilla ice cream, was heavenly. Both my drinks, Espresso Martini and red beer were both delicious! The martini was very creamy and with the right amount of sweetness. The red beer was mild and very smooth. I would love to return and can't wait to try some of the other beers available as well as the yummy dishes on the menu. Parking is busy in the this busy street mall. The staff was very warm and welcoming, though throughout the evening it definitely felt like they may have been short staffed and stretched a bit thin. We tried the Fried Shishito Peppers, Veggie Potstickers, Grilled Broccolini, Rosemary Garlic Fries, Whipped Burrata, Garlic Noodles, Salmon Poke Tacos, and Lamb Chops. Overall, the food was decent but nothing especially memorable. The lamb chops were cooked nicely but could have used more seasoning, and the poke tacos were tasty but tiny -- literally about the size of my pinky for each taco. Our server recommended a special habanero roll, and my friend ordered the Hawaii rolls--both were excellent. Another friend ordered a burger and really enjoyed it as well, so the kitchen is definitely doing something right. Where things fell short was the service. Our server started off great--friendly and with a good vibe--but as the evening went on, things slowed down noticeably. The host was not very attentive; we had to ask multiple times for items, and drinks were delayed until our server eventually followed up. It felt like no one else was stepping in to help. There were also a few mix-ups. We ordered crème brûlée and cheesecake, but were mistakenly given bread pudding that belonged to another table. It took about 20 minutes for the server to return and let us know about the error. While it wasn't added to our bill, there wasn't much effort made to make up for the inconvenience. I also ordered another glass of wine that never arrived--though, to be fair, I wasn't charged for it. Toward the end of the night, service became even more inconsistent. We were ready to pay, but the server disappeared for a while, and when he finally took our card, he seemed distracted and took extra time chatting with another table. Overall, it's a nice spot--especially for a summer dinner--and the food is definitely worth trying. However, the service needs improvement before I'd consider coming back.

For appetizers, the lobster bisque was sultry and the grilled shrimp prawns can with two huge prawns with roasted vegetables. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and not dry at all. It is easy for restaurants to make thick cut pork chop dry. Not at Avant! We also ordered the Beef Wellington (a special that was not on the menu). We didn't realize the Beef Wellington was sized for two people, hence the huge up charge. Beef Wellington was cooked medium rare which how its supposed to be prepared! The crust was more like a pipe crust than puff pastry. The pate is mushroom with swiss chard. I need to address another Yelp User's review of this restaurant complaining about the Beef Wellington: 1) If you dont like your beef medium rare, DO NOT order the Beef Wellington. Ask Chef Gordon Ramsey! Medium is considered over cooked in a Beef Wellington. The meat gets dry and tough. 2) The Beef Wellington is a special (typically on the weekend) with limited quantities and is not on the menu all the time. I heard the restaurant manager let other tables know the limited quantities and he needed to know ASAP if a diner was considering the Beef Wellington. 3) Please also note that Beef Wellington takes to 30 to 40 minutes because there is a 15 to 20 minute rest time. So be sure to order appetizers also to tie you over! The service here is fantastic! Blaine was great! The atmosphere is nice in dark woods. Just the right lighting. I actually grew up coming here, but this was my first time coming in a long time as an adult and it definitely felt special. The service was impeccable. The food was amazing and it wasn't too loud or crowded or anything like that. The only thing about it would be the prices and the price is relative to the limited options available but the limited options were still really good so it's definitely worth it!

Five stars for this visit. At its best, the Veranda remains much too cool to waste on tourists!…read more Patio: always love it, heaters worked great this night. Service was great too - waiter was Latino and had an unusual name - Uberto? He's been there before and was great. Cocktail: I tried a Greenpoint, which is a take on a Brooklyn, which I guess is a take on a manhattan. It was served on the rocks - it was missing at first a little something but as it got more chilled, I think it was just warm at first, which was a little strange. But I liked it. Sourdough boule: back to fabulous this time. Very yummy in every way. Market salad: always huge and enough for 2 to split for $15-ish. This time it had berries, blue cheese and some yummy dried pears. I ate up almost every morsel. Got the striped bass too, which is a good dish. I'm not going to say it's the most spectacular thing you'll ever eat - and the parsnip puree and cauliflower were a little boring - but the fish was huge and cooked well. And I enjoyed sneaking my sweetie's fingerling potatoes that came with his beef medallions instead. He enjoyed that also - he just thought that the blanket of blue cheese on the top was a little too much. Oh - and the real reason this is a 5 star visit this time in addition to the generally good food and drink & great patio? They have live music every Sat. night - and this time it was Daniel Newheiser who was a ton of fun. Often they have great vocalists doing covers of the Eagles or Olivia Rodrigo or whatever in creative ways. But Newheiser does standards - with very creative arrangements. Bio says he has a jazz degree from USC - and it was pretty darn awesome and different from the last time we heard him a few years ago. Great to come here and do outdoor dining & have great food, drink and music year round!

There are many updates that add to the ambiance. The main dining area is as nice as I remember it with an upscale feel. Walking to the main dining area is a long dining table and a display of their bottles of wine. Tonight Daou wines were on display. The food: Husband is very picky about what he eats and I am happy to say he loved his swordfish entree. I took a taste and it was delicious! The complimentary bread reminds me of Yorkshire pudding bread. Our appetizer was chicken potstickers on top of ramen like noodles and dressed in a Thai chili soy broth--delicious! I didn't really have an appetite, so I went with the Romain Cesar salad (my go to when it comes to salads). New to me is the outdoor patio where there were several tables of diners. This is where they have happy hour every day. The sign says Vin-Tiki lounge, where they have live music. Sounds like a fun time! I think the Lexus dealership has really upped their game with Vintana. Our server was Ireland, a catchy name that I remembered! Very good service too!

If it's your first time here, Chef Deborah's pepita encrusted cheese board, mussels, and lobster mac n cheese never disappoint. We came to celebrate my 30th bday and my mom's 60th bday. Although tempted to order one or two of the above classic, we opted for our individual favorites - mine being the ahi stack with a side salad, and my mom's being the cioppino. The ahi stack was presented just how I remembered it - mango papaya salad, blue crab, ahi tuna, tobiko, and for me extra cucumber, no taro chips, and an addictive swet chili like sauce. Only thing is that this time the tuna seemed almost too "molded," almost like there was a thin layer of gel holding it all together, more sinue, or the pieces I got were not as delicate as I remember. Maybe it was a one off since every other time, it's been spot on. As for three cioppino, I did not mind the revamped the version and enjoyed the polenta cake that it is now served with! If I could, I would order a bowl of the broth ... that is how good it is. NOW, I'm not sure what happened but after our plates were taken away, I started feeling an allergic, tingly feeling on my lips and in my stomach. Typically this starts to develop when I eat peanuts or pinenuts, but based on the menu descriptions, we assumed there were neither present in the dishes. Maybe there was some cross contamination, or maybe there were one of these nuts in the cioppino's herb vinaigrette (also a new component I don't believe was on their previous version)? Regardless, I am not sure ... This just served as a good reminder to ALWAYS inform your server of any allergies before ordering, even if they don't ask like in our case. Overall, I still think Vintana is a 4 star rating. I feel like this may have been a one off day for them, with multiple events occurring and people dining for various occasions.
