We tried this place out on a Friday about 4:30 pm and so there wasn't a lot of people yet, we were there until about 8 and there was a good amount of people coming to dine in and ordering take out. I used to sneak SB into the movie theater back in the day, but it hasn't been worth the stop in the past few yrs. My oldest came in town and wanted SB--he has been raving about it thinking it would still be the same--he was very disappointed today. A great friend brought me here when I first arrived in Fort Worth, and I've been going back for some of the best Thai ever since. Sweet Basil Thai has an impressive appetizer list. So far, I've tried the crab rangoon, curry puffs, corn patties, and the crispy veggie egg rolls. My favorite is the Karipap curry puffs because they are unique to Thai food menus and who doesn't like a curry puff? As for the main dish, Sorry, I wish I could guide you through the many soups, soft noodles, and fried rice dishes, but I'm only an expert on one. I'm trucking across town to Sweet Basil Thai for their fabulous green curry pork. Some green curries are too hot, some too sweet, and some too heavy. This green curry is an amalgam of flavors, and it hits you right away that you're not just having the green curry. You're having THE green curry. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we stepped in. My dad ordered the Red Curry, level 4, and loved the spice to it. Had lunch here today with two coworkers. The place was busy, clean, and service was good. I was a little disappointed as I asked for Thai Tea (twice) but with my Texas accent I don't think our waitress understood me. She said we have green tea. Then I asked for sweet tea (twice) and she said we have green tea. So I settled for green tea. When I opened the menu there it was starring me in the face, Thai Tea, Iced Tea, and there was sugar on the table to make it sweet. We all enjoyed our food very much and they serve plenty. The spring rolls are crispy and light with a delicious savory filling of glass noodle, potato, carrot, garlic. The sauce it comes with is great. The Thai BBQ pork is my favorite entree dish (so far)- it is thinly sliced, savory, and comes with shredded vegetables along with another great dipping sauce. For some weird reasons, I've been having a crazy craving for Thai food the last few weeks. Must have checked out 3-4 new Thai restaurants in less than a month. Even tho there was always at least 1 or 2 things that I wasn't completely happy with any of them, I kept coming back, only because it was convenient, and most of all, I have almost no self-control when it comes to food. Sweet Basil Thai made my day and saved my SO's wallet from being deflated lol. We were down the street at Rejuv for some smoothies and juices (yup, desserts before a meal). I suggested to come here because it was so close. Anything farther away might have turned me into a hangry monster. Luckily, we arrived right before the dinner rush. Our waitress was a middle age lady, super friendly, she had a smile on her face the whole time. I ordered my usual fried tofu for appetizer. The tofu was perfectly fried and beautifully presented on a plate with plenty of cabbage and carrot. Normally I would go with the green curry, but theirs doesn't come with as much variety of vegetable, so I opted for the red curry with tofu. My SO got the pad kee mow/drunken noodle also with tofu, just so I can try it, being the skinny fat person I am. Don't judge. We were a lil nervous after asking for level 4 spicy on both dishes, having been to other thai places recently that sometimes torched our tongues on fire, we weren't too sure what to expect, but went all the way anyway lol. Our dishes came out in huge serving! Luckily, level 4 spicy was very manageable for us. The pad kee mow had a lot of flavors n not overly greasy. My curry was creamy and delicious. I just wish it had more veggies like maybe green beans and mushrooms. My SO pointed out on their special board that they have mango sticky rice, knowing I'm a sucker for it. They offer the option of regular sticky rice or black sticky rice. I went with black sticky rice, highly recommend it. It has a different flavor and a lil bit healthier. They were extremely generous with the portion too, lots of sticky rice and 2 full pieces of mango. I was a happy camper. For our dinner, the bill came out to be just a lil over $30.
