Found my new favorite Thai place and go to Asian vegan food spot!!!! Excellent service, huge serving, extremely reasonable price, and definitely tasty! For some weird reasons, I've been having a crazy craving for Thai food the last few weeks. Must have checked out 3-4 new Thai restaurants in less than a month. Even tho there was always at least 1 or 2 things that I wasn't completely happy with any of them, I kept coming back, only because it was convenient, and most of all, I have almost no self-control when it comes to food. Sweet Basil Thai made my day and saved my SO's wallet from being deflated lol. We were down the street at Rejuv for some smoothies and juices (yup, desserts before a meal). I suggested to come here because it was so close. Anything farther away might have turned me into a hangry monster. Luckily, we arrived right before the dinner rush. Our waitress was a middle age lady, super friendly, she had a smile on her face the whole time. I ordered my usual fried tofu for appetizer. The tofu was perfectly fried and beautifully presented on a plate with plenty of cabbage and carrot. Normally I would go with the green curry, but theirs doesn't come with as much variety of vegetable, so I opted for the red curry with tofu. My SO got the pad kee mow/drunken noodle also with tofu, just so I can try it, being the skinny fat person I am. Don't judge. We were a lil nervous after asking for level 4 spicy on both dishes, having been to other thai places recently that sometimes torched our tongues on fire, we weren't too sure what to expect, but went all the way anyway lol. Our dishes came out in huge serving! Luckily, level 4 spicy was very manageable for us. The pad kee mow had a lot of flavors n not overly greasy. My curry was creamy and delicious. I just wish it had more veggies like maybe green beans and mushrooms. My SO pointed out on their special board that they have mango sticky rice, knowing I'm a sucker for it. They offer the option of regular sticky rice or black sticky rice. I went with black sticky rice, highly recommend it. It has a different flavor and a lil bit healthier. They were extremely generous with the portion too, lots of sticky rice and 2 full pieces of mango. I was a happy camper. For our dinner, the bill came out to be just a lil over $30. Probably the sweetest pad Thai I've ever had. The spice level was perfect. I ordered tofu pad Thai level medium. It was very savory and sweet which was an interesting combo. I loved the fluffy egg that was part of the dish. Usually at many places they cut up the egg or barely use any, but they didn't hold back with it here. The noodles were very flavorful and the portion size was pretty good for the price. I'm not a huge fan of peanuts or bean sprouts in my pad Thai. The dish here comes with it premixed in the noodles, so if you don't want it, maybe you can request to not have it put in. Look forward to trying other things on the menu! read more

Wow. Literally the BEST Tom kha soup I have ever had !! This restaurant is very clean and set up classy! We went here on a Sunday evening and it was quiet and perfect. Our server was a young gentleman who was SO sweet, attentive, professional and accommodating ! He was even very sweet to my infant daughter. Another lady, Vanessa, was also very sweet! My little brother, his best friend and my husband really like this place. First few times it took me awhile to figure out what I could or couldn't eat here though which is the case with most Thai places. They have a lot of really good food and plenty of mild to spicy foods for every taste palettes ... which trust me is really awesome for the group of people that I would come here with. For sure it is worth a try for those who enjoy this type of food, and if your a newbie don't be afraid to ask questions or go with people that know what they are ordering. I would agree with other reviews that say the Pad Thai is on the sweeter side but if that is what you like its a pretty decent dish. I cant handle any sort of spice so I always order a zero spicy and this place has always delivered on that well. When you order the Pad Thai it comes with an ice berg salad with peanut sauce dumped on top of it and a fourth of a whole tomato. It is not my favorite salad. The service is good, the place is clean and the price is decent for what you are getting. read more

Sweet basil is in the NE Mall area where there are a multitude of Asian choices. The prior visit, it happened to be closed on a holiday, but the menu and style were attractive, so we returned when open. The variety was good, lunch options filled a full page at about $10, but the standard menu had few items over $17. Choice of protein on many items and intensity of heat were adjustable. The massaman curry was tasty, a little different simpler spicing than others, but had nice large potato and chicken portions, most all meals have steamed white rice. The pepper steak was good texture and flavor. The soup cup accompaniment was a nice start. A slightly different take on the Asian eggrolls, but with a good sauce laid upon a good dollop of salad. Staff and owner were friendly, never let our water glasses get empty, and removed extra plates as they were done. Great for stopping through, never expected such a nice little place in the backside of an unassuming strip center behind the NE Mall. Try it, we will return. read more

Saw how this restaurant has close to 5 Stars on Yelp. So I decided to order take out through yelp, so it goes through GrubHub. When I came to pick it up, the ladies there working said there wasn't any order for me (even though on yelp it said it was ready to pick up). They brush me aside for like 5 minutes until I showed them my phone and said I ordered it on Yelp and it went through GrubHub. Finally got my order, no utensils nor napkins. I got the pad Thai with a level 2 spicy and it was pretty bland. Chicken felt like it was blanched and thrown in with the pad Thai. This tiny, super clean restaurant in the shadows of NorthEast Mall is a fine place to dine. The pricing is fair and portion sizes are large - I always have some leftover. Most recently I went in and had beef and broccoli - at 6.95, comes with soup/salad. What I like is they take the time to make sure the veggies are tasty and thoroughly soaked in whatever goodness they're cooked in. I didn't have to search for beef, either. Iced tea is only $1.50. I don't like curries very much, but the red curry chicken from here I'll made an exception for. It's spicy and creamy but not overwhelming rich. You will wait for a table if you show up at noon. But since I was down in DFW this weekend visiting my brother it wasn't hard persuading him to head over to our fave Thai restaurant with me to see if they've kept their luster. Believe me they have! The food was (still, thank God!) just exquisite and delectable, the service stellar. Try the Pad See Ew extra hot, the lamb curry and the Crispy fried talapia with Thai hot sweet sauce.
