I have been longing for a Napoleon pastry and typed in 'Napoleon near me' and discovered this wonderful bakery. Bakery owner called them by a different name, but it is the same wonderful French pastry, so hard to find. She said give her 5 minutes and she will have it ready for me. I bought all that she had at a great price. She then dazzled me with her photographs of cheesecakes. This is primarily a custom cake business, but I stopped in hoping they had something I could take to a friend's house for dessert. English is not their primary language but the lady was able to show me pictures of pastries and flavors. I thought I was ordering a total of 8 items, but my "4 of each" turned into a lovely assortment of 16 items. It worked out as I was attending a meeting after dinner so there was plenty to share. I'm genuinely surprised by the number of positive reviews this place has received. I wanted to enjoy it, but the quality of the sweets was disappointing. I used an app offering a $6 mystery bag supposedly containing $18 worth of same-day leftovers. Instead, I received a small Styrofoam container with one rubbery piece of flan, an extremely small, dry, and dense confetti muffin, and ten tiny, knot-like pastries that were difficult to chew. I'm calling it a muffin because it didn't have any frosting. Everything tasted stale, more like it was several days old than freshly made that day, contrary to the app's description. If this were my business, I would be embarrassed to put out food of that quality. read more

I was frantically looking for a birthday cake for my sisters 30th birthday with only a 24hr notice. I called so many bakeries in my area and was told it would be impossible to get a cake done for 50 people within that time frame. I called "Sweet Land Cake" and it was possible! I was greeted with kindness without having to share my story, my service mattered . I texted a picture and requested a filling with a confetti batter and was given options on sizes . This bakery was fully stocked , the picture of the cake I sent had an assortment of different flowers on a lavender cake with a gold drizzle and this bakery had it all ! All I had to do was place my order and pay half down and pay the rest during pick up . My sister absolutely loved her custom cake and I received so many compliments from our guests for the bakery. They have an assortment of treats that I can't wait to visit again to try ! The ambiance is welcoming and the people here are so nice . Ordered for a pickup and drove 40mins to pick up. I called before I left my house to make sure it was ready and shop was open and got no response until I was 10mins away I got a text saying that they were on a call so I said I was on my way and got no text back. Came here on a weekend. Unpretnetious little business with a very down to earth staff. I think it is family owned? Anyways, I tried some of their pastry case desserts, which are a steal in price. Dropped by after a recommendation. It s a tiny place with a pastry display that had 2 kinds of pastry. That was it. I saw 2 women eating some fried stuff. Smelled good. I bought some Pasteles from the lady. They r like tamales but made with puréed raw green bananas instead of corn. I boiled them and they tasted ok. But I was put off by the texture. The masa or outside of the Pasteles were made using a food processor. It releases the gluten and it becomes gummy. Sometimes shortcuts dont work out. read more

Three tier cake it was amazing but a few years ago. It was a spider man cake for my nephew that turned 5. The cakes was a big hit at the party. They also have a great sandwich here as well. I'd like to thank Domnic Armato for recommending a spot that I literally have driven by three times a week for the last three years without even noticing. This nondescript little location is an absolute gem and great addition to the cultural fabric of the neighborhood. One suggestion. They ought to expand or change the name. They offer the best Puerto Rican dishes in Phoenix but you'd never know unless you were tipped. The cubano with its sweet bread, ham, and sweet pork is the perfect fusion of flavor. It's pretty heavy so plan on eating it with a friend or over a few meals. The pastries are excellent as well. The type of place that you want to get behind. The owner is uber friendly, and it doesn't get more authentic than beautiful music and him singing classic Puerto Rican songs... all the while your coffee is brewing your and he puts together rn most delicious latte & THEN when it can get better stuffing you with fresh crunchy cheese pastries. My first time at a Puerto Rican bakery and it was one I won't forget. I'm lucky because my friend is Puerto Rican and she helped guide me on what everything was. This place is tiny and you can tell as soon as you walk in that it's all heart and will deliver something tasty. I got three quesitos (flaky puff pastry wrapped around sweet cream cheese and a honey glaze)...and it was heavenly. I literally moaned when I tried. I also got brazo gitano (swiss roll cake with guava) and it was light and sweet. I also got this puff pastry layered situation with Carmel and almond shavings on top (my friend had never heard of it), and that was amazing. My friend also got a cheesecake with caramel on top and it was great. All that was missing was some coffee Because of Google reviews, I also wanted to try the Cuban and it was great - tender and cheesy. read more

This place has pan sobao (sweet island bread from heaven...I don't do carbs but I will do these haha) and quesitos (a flaky warm cheese danish in a honey glaze) and they are fresh and delish. I've had thier Cuban sandwich and hands down this is authentic, not some weak interpretation (ive had a hard time getting a good cuban sandwich in AZ, they pretty much all have been horrible, no matter how fancy...the bread is key and so is the pernil...no one else has gotten it even close...sorry not sorry). I've also tried the alcapurrias (a plantain fritter filled with picadillo (beef cooked with sofrito-a blend of bell peppers, cilantro, onion a bunch of there things and happiness) - they are excellent. This is a small place and things are cooked to order, this takes time, so be prepared for this. It's also small inside. I def come here for the food not ambiance. read more

My husband ordered my birthday cake here and it was delicious!! I am normally not a fan of fondant cake because more times than not, I've had the cake taste dry. Sweet Land Cake did an excellent job making the cake moist! It was wonderful! I did not go into the store or speak with anyone personally but I can tell you they make wonderful cake.
