Not great for vegetarians... I'm not sure why, but customer service is significantly worse at this location compared to SF or Palo Alto. This isn't a high rating, but I want to say that Sweet Maple does actually have good food. I recommend the Palo Alto location instead; it is MUCH better and staff are much nicer. Also, SF also has the sweet potatoes, eggs, toast combo. Are sweet potatoes that hard to source in Cupertino? I digress... On weekends the wait time can range from 45 minutes to well over an hour and parking is limited. It is hot in the summer and there isn't ample seating or shade outside so you might as well chill in the car with AC and watch 3 or 4 episodes of Seinfeld or the Office while you wait. Anyway, I came with friends on a weekday and we all got drinks and two of us got appetizers. My vegan friend was astounded that she couldn't order an appetizer, even *brussel sprouts* because they come with bacon. When it came to our orders (one friend was vegan and struggled to find anything she saw the Green Papaya Salad which was phenomenal, the other got some combo with Millionaire Bacon which they loved), I decided to get one of the Maple Plates. The menu reads: "FOR A COMPLETE MEAL Add two eggs and a choice of bacon, chicken-mango sausage, or pork-lime sausage (+$8) Millionaire's Bacon® or Millionaire's Candy® (+$13)" I love how they do eggs here but as a vegetarian, I cannot eat sausage/bacon ($8) or Millionaire's Candy ($12). I asked if they could make a substitution for the sausage or bacon and give me toast instead ($4) as I don't eat meat. "No substitutions." I pointed out that all of the options were listed on the "Sides" portion of the menu and were 8-13 bucks while toast was just $4, much less than all of the other options. The staffmember got pretty annoyed and said that absolutely no exceptions could be made to this rule. We were pretty surprised but moved on. After our food arrived they looked exasperated when we asked if they could refill our water. Normally we'll stay back, chat and grab more coffee/wine but this time we left pretty much immediately, I don't even remember if I got the marnier or big hip. This was not about two bucks, it was about respect. Another reviewer has also commented that they had this same issue and it doesn't make sense to me because it is a simple fix that could go a long way. I understand that it can be a hassle to allow some substitutions. This could lead to tons of requests, but why not just add toast as another option "For a complete meal"? I wouldn't care it if was $9 and costs more than bacon/sausage. Ultimately, restaurants decide what to put on their menu and how they price it. Additionally, the cleanliness left something to be desired - a couple of our water glasses and one side plate were dirty. The ambiance was nice, although outdoor seating was cramped and partially in the sun, making it less comfortable for a midday brunch. Parking is a hassle with a small lot and limited street options, so be prepared to hunt for a spot. Overall, Sweet Maple has some tasty dishes but the service and cleanliness issues were disappointing. I might give it another shot, but it's not at the top of my list for brunch spots in the city. Sweet Maple in Cupertino is a pretty solid brunch spot, especially if you're looking for something a little more indulgent. I finally got around to trying their Millionaire's Candy Bacon, which is one of the things they're known for. We also ordered their Hass Omelette. The Millionaire's Candy Bacon definitely lives up to its name. The bacon is thick, crispy around the edges, and coated in a sweet, caramelized glaze that gives it a candied, almost dessert-like quality. It's rich and indulgent, but the smoky, savory flavor of the bacon still comes through. Definitely something worth trying if it's your first visit. The Hass Omelette was also enjoyable. It was topped with fresh avocado, and inside had bacon and Monterrey Jack cheese, making it filling but not overly heavy. The flavors worked well together, and the avocado added a nice freshness to balance out the richer components. The potatoes were super delicious and crispy. I also tried the ube latte. It had a nice ube flavor and was creamy and smooth, although it was slightly too sweet for my preference. Not one single person checked up on us the entire meal. We had to flag people down both times when we needed something . 3. After dining, I went in a friends' car to run errands. Came back to a full sized paper note stating that I cannot park there because it's a private lot, and that I would be towed the next time. The tape left a big area of residue on my windshield. I didn't realize I can't use the parking at the restaurant I was dining at. If you didn't want to serve us at last call, DON'T seat us. I would've had a better experience being told you're closed than what happened. Don't worry about having to tow me when I come back, there will be no next time.
