I should have listened to the reviews as today was my first and last time going to SweetGreen. I ordered the ranchy chicken and rice to try it out for my first time. I just picked it up since I parked in curbside pick up and took it home. When I got home there was no chicken. So unacceptable. I talked to the chat and they refunded me my money and the reward I used. The girl said she added an extra credit on top of that, when I checked she didn't. Don't say you're going to give customers something for their bad experience and then don't. Just don't say anything at all. Such a disappointment, skip this place and listen to the reviews.
I saved my rewards points for a free entree only to get this?! I was heading out of town for the Memorial Day weekend and wanted to stop by sweetgreen to redeem my points for a free entree, up to $18. Sweetgreen's app only mentions how many of your points would expire within 90 days, but doesn't give a more precise date. So like 60 days? 30 days? 2 days? I wanted to make sure I redeemed my hard-earned points before they would expire. This sweetgreen is located in Irvine Spectrum Center where the 5 meets the 405. Despite the ginormous amount of parking, I got so lucky when a car pulled out as I was trying to look for a spot nearby; otherwise, I probably would have had to park closer to Target instead. As soon as I came in, I was met by delivery and pickup shelves, and as I sidestepped to the right, I noticed the setup was more similar to the Torrance location than the Long Beach location. Since I'm more accustomed to the Long Beach location, I was expecting there to be kiosks, but there weren't any. AJ immediately came over to offer help, though it was a welcome that became unwelcome as he was quite condescending. I wasn't totally sure how I'd be able to redeem my points for a free entree in store, especially since I find that the sweetgreen app isn't as user-friendly compared to other restaurants' apps. AJ's response was simply "you can order online or in store." Uhh okay, thanks Captain Obvious, but I was asking how I can redeem my points for a reward in store. Making me look like an imbecile doesn't answer the question! AJ and Jordan were busy preparing entrees for a single customer and a party of two, respectively, in front of me. It took several minutes for Jordan to finally get to me, and that even included another employee going back and forth; I almost thought that employee would be the one to serve me, but I guess he was supposed to be in the back doing something else. During those several minutes of waiting, I had decided on a Miso Glazed Salmon plate, which is $17.25. However, I noticed their CYO section of the menu mentioning that toppings could be anywhere from 65 cents to $2.25. I tried looking around to see how to tell how much a particular topping would cost, but had no way to tell! So if you were to select 4 extra toppings to go with your entree, you could pay as much as $9 or as little as $2.60 extra. Big difference! When Jordan finally got around to servicing me, I told her I wanted the Miso Glazed Salmon protein plate, but also asked how I'd be able to tell how much an extra topping would cost. She did mention that the colder toppings were 65 cents, but the avocado was a counterexample as she mentioned it was one of the $2.25 toppings. Fortunately, it would already come with the salmon. Anyways, I saw that Jordan was about to add the white rice to the plate, but I stopped her and asked if I could switch that out with the quinoa since I'm trying to eat less white rice in my diet. She made that switch, no hassle, no problem. I then asked about the broccoli and corn, both of which were 65 cents. Between the two, I went with the broccoli, bringing my total to a dime less than $18. At the register, Jordan asked if I wanted the dressing on the side or mixed in. I preferred on the side. However, I had to scan my QR code several times before the transaction would finally go through. Afterwards, she asked if I'd like some sourdough bread, to which I couldn't say no. I also asked for a water cup, and she handed me one. I went towards the front door to get a fork, napkins, and some water from the water dispenser. Then, I sat at a table by the rear wall to enjoy my salmon plate. Or tried to, at least. I noticed there wasn't any kind of sauce in the plate despite sweetgreen offering up to 3. I could have went up to ask, but with how unwelcoming AJ was and how indifferent Jordan seemed, didn't feel comfortable to as more customers came in to place their orders. At least the ingredients tasted fresh, and I enjoyed them individually. However, without a sauce, I felt like I got deprived of what could have been a tasty meal. I did get kind of lucky with the salmon, even though I didn't taste much of the miso glaze. I noticed Jordan opening the salmon bin, and there were only two filets inside. After finishing my plate, I used one of the two restrooms they have in the rear. I had trouble with both the sink and the hand dryer not working in a timely manner that I almost thought I'd have to leave with soap on my hands! It took much longer than expected to finally wash my hands and leave. However, before I left, I looked at the menu and saw that the Miso Glazed Salmon would come with spicy cashew, which didn't sound like a sauce, but the sign showing the sauces indicated it was! I really did get shortchanged on the spicy cashew sauce! :( Now that I only have a few points left, I doubt I'll return to a sweetgreen soon, even the Long Beach one, after such a disappointing visit to this sweetgreen.
Easy access right by the parking lot. This is one of my favorite healthy spots. You never have to worry about the ingredients. They are all listed so you know exactly what farm everything comes from. Their new wraps are delicious, although I still really love the bowls. Earning points through the rewards app is great too!
This place is a great option for a fast, healthy and delicious meal that leaves you feeling satisfied and not bloated. Each menu item highlights the calories and protein so you can be conscious of your macros. The ingredients are fresh and good quality. They have some premade bowls, or you can customize with a carb, protein, and toppings. The staff are very friendly and the interior is clean. They also have plenty of outdoor seating.
Irvine finally has a Sweetgreen and I could not be happier! This location is clean, modern, and the staff is always so friendly and efficient. I have to rave about the Harvest Bowl -- hands down my favorite thing on the menu. The combination of warm wild rice, roasted sweet potatoes, apples, goat cheese, and that balsamic vinaigrette is just perfection. It's hearty, flavorful, and somehow manages to feel both healthy and indulgent at the same time. I can only eat half of this! Great proportions!
Food quality: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Value: 5/5 We were just passing through Irvine looking for a quick lunch and wow... did we luck out! The food here completely blew us away. I had the peach & goat cheese summer salad (fresh, bright and so damn good) and my husband went with the garlic steak protein bowl 10/10, no notes. We even grabbed a few sides of roasted chicken for our pups, because why not? But the real star of the show? Dessert. Vanilla ice cream with olive oil + sea salt. Are you kitten me right meow?! Wowza! At first I thought, "no way..." but after one bite we were fighting over the spoon. Should've ordered two. For sure. Lesson learned. Only downside? They don't have one in Chula Vista yet. Please open one soon, I'd basically move in.
Sweetgreen's customer service is as uninspired as their food! An automated chat bot has told me to go to their website to log my compliant so that humans can do something about it. Swing and miss. Original Review: It's all hype. The experience doesn't match the marketing. The restaurant is dirty. The staff isn't trained. Patio dirty (deep dirty, not just had a crazy rush dirty). Inside the restaurant was dirty. The service line where they take your order was dirty. Zero hospitality from the staff (nobody was in charge). It wasn't worth it and the mess made me not trust the food. Was in at 6:30 on a Friday, so expected them to be staffed and ready. Not so. The greens and fresh veggies were good. The dressings are very tasty! Not worth the $$$... especially at the Spectrum.
My friend and I were looking for a healthy spot to eat and have some girl time and she recommended this place.She had gone to a different location not the Irvine one ..but she said she really liked it. Parking can be a struggle at the Irvine Spectrum but being a Monday at 4pm we were both able to find parking no problem. The place was pretty empty they have outside seating and some inside seating as well, I did notice that the tables outside looked like they needed to be wiped down. Customer service was just OK. The two guys that were working there one of them the one that helped me seem like he was just trying to get through his shift. I ended up ordering the Beef Mezxi bowl and just buy watching him put it together I was pretty unimpressed although the picture looks like it has a bigger portion. It's actually pretty small. Taste wise it was just Ok I've definitely had a lot better bowls at Chipotle. My friend who ordered at the same time as me was offered a piece of sourdough bread that they had in a container with a bunch of slices by the register ..my server did not offer me any bread, which is fine, but why didn't he offer me any??hmmm?? my friend ordered some type of chicken salad with tortilla chips and it looked super bland. She said it was OK. To drink I ordered a green drink that you serve yourself in one of those drink dispensers and it was like a ginger green drink, and it was also just ok for me. Overall, it was just an OK experience I think I expected more and it just did not check all the boxes and with so many other good food options at the Irvine Spectrum they need to step it up!
I've been here three times now and I sincerely enjoy their bowls. It's nice knowing that I can get a very healthy option for lunch or dinner and the ingredients are healthy and wholesome. They do have vegan choices as well, like tofu and mushrooms. The only point of contention I have is that when I placed my pick up order I got there a little early and I noticed that the person who was preparing the bowls placed the receipt, which had a list of everything that I ordered on it inside the bowl as she was making it. This is not a good thing to do since receipts contain printing ink, which is full of BPA. So I would highly suggest that they refrain from doing this in the future. Other than that, the restaurant itself is clean. The bathrooms were clean as well and the staff is friendly and nice. I do plan to return, but I hope that they will not put receipts inside of the bowl while making hot food. This is not a good idea.
Well this was an unexpected treat... @sweetgreen you lived up to the hype and more!!! On top of the fresh high quality ingredients and healthy options... Melissa who assisted me on making my own bowl was wonderful and went above and beyond!! Impressive dining and delicious

This is my first time trying sweetgreen, and I've heard a lot of mixed reviews regarding this salad chain. Inside, the interior was very modernly designed and I quite enjoyed the little paper bags they offered near the exit for your order. It was very LA aesthetic. This was like a chipotle style build your own bowl but they also offered signature pre made bowls. I opted for the crispy rice bowl as I heard that one was quite popular. My server promptly put together my bowl and I was out within 5 mins. The bowl was about what I expected based on the ingredients. I'm usually not a huge salad fan but this satisfied my vegetable craving. read more

I like this sweetgreen's location in the Irvine Spectrum. It's very clean and spacious and the employees are nice. The ingredients were fresh in my salad bowl and they gave generous portions. They have a large shared parking lot but it gets really packed especially around dinner time. I had to do a couple laps before finding a spot. read more

Contrary to majority of the reviews of this place, my experience with the staff at this restaurant was pretty good. The ambience was really nice, and the seating was plentiful at the time that I went. The food was good, I really enjoyed the freshness of the food and their flavor profiles. I would also like to note that the portion sizes were also pretty decent. I'll definitely be coming again! read more

Holly Got the harvest bowl and I got the new chicken avocado bowl with green goddess dressing. Both orders were large enough that we could have shared one. We both only ate about half of our salads and took home enough for another lunch. The salads were fresh and flavorful. I asked for blue cheese crumbles on mine and they were happy to oblige. We got to let them know how much dressing we preferred so we both got just the right amount of dressing on our individual salads. We were very happy with our experience and our salads ! I'm torn between giving this place 3 stars or 4 stars, but I decided to go with 4 stars. While I was in the East Coast, I saw a lot of sweetgreen locations. It's nice that a location opened closer back home! So, I wanted to check out the food. sweetgreen is located right next to Pieology. It might be a bit hard to find since it's located in the front of the Irvine Spectrum area. It's best to park in the Bristol Farms market parking lot to get to the store. I loved the lightning and open space in the store. There's a few tables in the store, and more tables in the patio area. There weren't a lot of customers when I first came in. Service did take a bit long, with 1 worker helping at the counter. 1 worker was processing the online orders. It seems like they have quite a bit of online orders. Another worker came in to help at the counter when it started getting busy. To be honest, it was confusing what toppings they had. I believe there's a small paper located on the glass, but it's all the way at the front of the ordering station. So, you kind of have to ask the worker. I decided to go with a pre-made bowl to make it easier. The worker assisting me gave us more salad than rice, when we asked, which was appreciated. He was friendly and asked if we wanted any substitutions. My friend and I were able to switch to different dressings. Note, they don't take cash at this location. Also, there's 2 gender neutral restrooms, which is nice. At the front of the store, there's a water refill station and silverware. They also separate trash and compost here. Now onto the food! I didn't like my bowl very much. The dressings are very light in flavor. The arugula in my crispy rice bowl tasted bitter? The saving grace was the crispy rice. It was a bit of a drag, finishing my bowl. I enjoyed my friend's harvest bowl because the kale was tasty. She did mention there weren't any almonds in her bowl when the recipe stated there were supposed to be almonds? She also mentioned that the sweet potatoes were hard. I also didn't see any almonds in my bowl as stated in the recipe... I wished the bowls had something to give it more of that oomph, but both were lacking something. I'm not a huge fan of the food, but the service and everything else were great. Maybe I'll come back to create my own bowl, but not anytime soon. read more

3.5 stars Came here on a weekday for lunch and there weren't too many people waiting in line to order. I went for a build your own salad option. The biggest caveat for me was not seeing what all the ingredient names were. I saw everything but I didn't know what everything was, so do note if you don't know ask the employee what everything is. Step 1: Base: Salad, rice, or combo. Choose from romaine, arugula, baby spinach, spring mix, shredded kale, rice and or quinoa. Step 2: Premiums. Kinda was confused here cuz if I remember they did have the names of the meats here lol. I opted for the roasted chicken. Step 3: Toppings (Choose 4, more costs) Spicy banana peppers, chopped pickles, olives, apples, basil, raw carrots, chickpeas, cilantro, cucumber, raw beet, red onion, roasted sweet potato, shredded cabbage, spicy broccoli, tomato, lentils, sunflower seeds Step 4: Anything on top? Crispy rice, toasted almonds, tortilla chips, breadcrumbs Step 5: Dressings I went for a kale/quinoa combo, then went to get roasted chicken, added myself chickpeas, spicy broccoli, heirloom tomatoes, cucumber and got some light BBQ sauce. They mixed it up and added a piece of sourdough bread which was kind of a nice touch. Eating the salad was fine, but it might have been (gasp) too much? I felt near the end I definitely need more water and felt more parched. I might have needed to add more ingredients or should have gotten more sauce, but it was good (at least in the beginning). I think that for trying this place for the first time, ordering online or through the app would be a better choice so you can choose everything you want, but so many things are premiums that ya gotta watch the price haha. I'd probably try a different combo next time but at least I will go in knowing what combos to try. There's a few seating options inside and a little bit more outside as well. read more

I really like Sweetgreen. I had experiences with both dining in and DoorDash. Dining in was great. I got the harvest bowl, and the portion was big and I had left over. Then I doordashed and built my own bowl. Just like other reviewers, there were 2 PAID items missing- cilantro and goat cheese. It looks like it's a common problem, and I hope they fix it soon. Also the portion was much smaller for take out. Service was good and fast. And the store is clean. read more

First - no one answers the phone there, for anything. You get a call tree menu of options, that all ultimately direct you to their website. It's so sad to see so many businesses using bots and AI instead of humans. I was trying to speak to someone regarding an order they screwed up but it's impossible. I ordered a hot honey chicken bowl and received a half bowl of quinoa and potatoes (pictured) Food is decent, if they get your order right. If not, you're screwed. read more

Bad location. Go to the other location in Tustin. Spectrum sweetgreen is unhygienic and unappealing with trash overflowing in the cafe, greasy tables, and a dirty restroom. The food stations were shockingly filthy and the staff were sloppy. Management needs to hold better standards or hire more people. Sad, because I like the food, but it's just nasty there, so no thanks. read more

This review is for the soft opening. This is my second time dining at Sweetgreen. I always find them to have yummy food, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and everything you can expect from a high quality, made to order eatery. Sweetgreen really knows how to make salads the right way. Today, I ordered the very yummy Fish Taco Warm Bowl. The friendly staff was willing to toss a few extras into the mix including sweet potatoes and sliced cherry tomatoes. Just perfect! Needless to say to say, I'm a big fan. Five big stars! read more
I'm thankful to Sweetgreen for the invitation to their "taste test" and IMO it was a well-planned event for a soft opening. After arriving at our scheduled reservation time, we were greeted by a member of the corporate training team who explained the backstory and mission of the business. It was interesting to learn that sweetgreen was started by three college students in Washington DC with the express purpose of providing a healthier way to eat and a focus on sustainability. It's safe to say they've been successful as they have a presence in 100+ locations across 20 states. Sweetgreen's Irvine location took over for the former Urban Seoul and is sandwiched between Pieology and Wahoo's in the Irvine Spectrum Center. The restaurant is furnished with modern and white decor which radiates a bright and clean ambience. Service was friendly and I appreciated that they were staffed appropriately especially amidst the chaos of a soft opening. We were told ahead of time that staff was new and still learning, but I'm confident they'll be up to speed by the grand opening. The sweetgreen menu offers warm bowls, salads, custom bowls and kid's meals. I elected to try the Crispy Rice Bowl which included arugula, warm wild rice, cilantro, cucumber, shredded cabbage, toasted almonds, crispy rice, raw carrots, blackened chicken, fresh lime squeeze and spicy cashew dressing...talk about nutritious and delicious! Salad lovers unite! You can choose a salad from the menu or create your own. Since I couldn't decide I chose to create my own. As a newbie, this was where they lost a star. The options are not clearly labeled to choose from. And the team member was not helpful in communicating my options even after I told her it was my first time. I didn't want to hold up the line playing 20 questions, so I chose items that I could recognize quickly. At checkout I was happily surprised by all the Lolipop flavor options. My suggestion check the menu out online and know what you want before heading in. read more

This was, without exaggeration, one of the saddest excuses for a meal I've ever paid for. Dry steak cubes that taste like they were cooked last week and microwaved twice. Sweet potatoes? More like soggy disappointment in orange form. The rice was bland, mushy, and somehow both overcooked and underseasoned. Even the avocado -- nature's easiest win -- was a lifeless, bruised afterthought. If you're thinking about eating here: don't. I wouldn't feed this to my dog, and she eats literal trash off the sidewalk. Save your money, your taste buds, and your dignity. read more

This was our first time trying sweet greens and it did not disappoint. It was so flavorful and full. We really enjoyed eating it. It was a very light dinner and it didn't make us feel heavy. I like how they ask you how much dressing to put in and we put extra dressing and it was great. The workers were really nice and the one that help us is very kind.inside is very clean. They have healthy sodas and sparkling water. I would definitely go again and the price was not too bad. read more

I was visiting the spectrum today and was seriously worried I wouldn't find anything to eat. Okay there are tons of places to eat here. But I am on a new journey when it comes to food and I get a little overwhelmed on trying to find something that meets my own dietary needs. I will say that sweet greens hit the mark and then some. They had something for everyone. From tofu to steak. From super vegan to extreme carnivore and everyone in between. The salad was fresh and the topping just as fresh. The employees were kind and helpful and very knowledgeable about dietary needs and had plenty of Recommendations. I was very happy with my very refreshing lunch. I will definitely be back. read more

I've been off Yelp for years, yet my disappointing experience at Sweetgreen has forced me to write this review. Let me preface...I'm a HUGE fan of this place and have gone out of my way to eat here several times in the past few weeks...including after the menu change which removed critical items that kept me coming back such as the arugula and the herb-roasted chicken. While I've seen other menu items come out with lackluster portions and overpriced, the build your own salad was a blessing for me due to the choice of healthy items and portions. My order is (now): - Spring Mix & Kale - Quinoa (forgot this order) - Blackened Chicken - Double Garbanzo Beans - Double Broccoli - Miso Ginger dressing (medium pour) Usually this comes out to quite the substantial and nutrition-packed salad. However, my wife just brought this home for me and it was about 1/2 of what was expected...which was double frustrating as I waited 2 starving hours for her to finish up her mall business. This looks like barely any greens and DEFINITELY NOT a doubling of garbanzo and broccoli...as a result the pour of dressing overwhelmed the items and is like soup. Looking at other photos of their salad on Yelp and from my experience it's pretty clear that what I received was WTF. Seriously disappointed and so hangry that I just tossed $15 in the trash to literally heat up a can of pinto beans from Costco instead. read more

Got dinner here on a whim with a friend! It was pretty empty on a Monday night, which wasn't too surprising! Everything moved fast, and all of the menu boards were laid out quite thoughtfully, so my intimidation of the choices wasn't as bad! I got the create-your-own bowl with greens, quinoa, herb chicken, broccoli, sweet potatoes, chickpeas, and tomatoes, with the vinaigrette dressing on the side. Everything tasted great, and the toppings were wonderful. My only small complaint was that a few chicken pieces were a bit hard and I had to toss them. The inside and outdoor patio had a great amount of seating and there was a water fountain too- an awesome touch. The crew was also super friendly and made sure I had time to think through my choices. read more

GREENS & GRAINS customizable bowl -- 10/10!!! My bowl included a variety of vegetables, leafy greens, and whole grains (quinoa). It's a nutritious and flavorful dish topped with hearty toppings such as sweet potato, avocado and pickled onions, YUM!! I had my bowl with the green goddess dressing and jalapeño vinaigrette. This meal comes with a hefty price of $21.94 however health is wealth. My wife ordered food via my account (pick-up order); this is her first time eating there. She ordered the Chicken Pesto bowl and made some modifications (adding extra broccoli and sweet potatoes). When she arrived, she noted that the employees were occupied with other customers. As she looked upon the food prep area, it was dirty and very unorganized. After the customers being served left the line, she was told an employee would be right with her. They looked like they did not want to be there, very nonchalant and unprofessional. After being told by two employees that someone would attend to her (again, no one is in line), she was served by a female employee. She was told by the young lady that her order was ready. The bowl wasn't in a bag, nor was the lid properly secure on the bowl itself. Following checking her food; thinking all the food was in the bowl, she thought the blackened chicken that she added to her bowl was missing. She returned to the restaurant and spoke with the same woman who assisted her. The employee was pushing a trash can with gloves on before speaking with her. As my wife asked if the chicken was in the bowl, she stuck her fingers in the bowl w/o taking the gloves off and washing her hands. She told her it was in the bottom of the bowl--the employee walked off with a smirk on her face. It was like four pieces of blackened chicken in the bowl. She found a piece of kale in her bowl and a few burnt pieces of sweet potatoes. Overall, she said the flavor of the bowl was ok, but due to the attitude of the staff, cleanliness of the establishment, and skimping of proportions, she would not be coming back. We hope this reaches management to make and adjust changes within the establishment. It is unfortunate; you work hard for the funds you earn, and close to $25 was gone to waste. read more

Yummy! I love sweetgreen salads and I'm really happy that there is now a location in Irvine. I ordered the harvest bowl and it was very delicious. The staff was nice too. (The cold AC was also very much appreciated.) Even though it's still a little far from me since it's located at Irvine Spectrum, I will still stop by if I ever go there. Overall satisfied with the food! read more

Is there curbside pick up?
No, but many ppl park right out front to run in and grab if it's already been ordered. The spectrum is pretty chaotic for parking and seems to be what I observe to be working.
