The pomegranate chicken here is divine! It's sweet and tangy and cooked to perfection. Not to mention the generous bed of couscous it rests on and the insane amount of toppings piled on top. Every bite was a different experience, embodying just what I want from a lunch bowl. Overall, Sajj is a great place to check out if you're looking for a new work lunch (or weekend) option

This mediterranean bowl is LOADED. Love that it's Chipotle/Cava style so you can take advantage of all the toppings. Very good competitor to Cava and a lot of value for the Bay Area if you order right. Will be a new lunch staple. 4.2/5

Ordered chicken & steak shawarma rice bowls from this location twice on MealPal and was very pleased with my choice. The portion is on point and the flavor is great. I can definitely taste the freshness of the ingredients. The green sauce that came with the bowl was amazing. I'd say this is a pretty solid lunch spot in FiDi. I think they also have several other locations. Would recommend!

This was my first but definitely not my last time at Sajj. My favorite protein option is the pomegranate protein, which is packed with flavor and pairs perfectly with the build-your-own bowl concept. There are so many toppings to choose from, including (but not limited to) cauliflower, beets, tomatoes, hummus, and garlic spreads, allowing me to create a bowl that suits my taste preferences perfectly. One of the best parts about dining at Sajj is that they offer a free lentil soup with every order, which is a delightful bonus. The soup is flavorful and adds a comforting touch to the meal. I wouldn't pay for it, but its a nice comforting touch to my bowl. Another great perk is that if you sign up online, you get $5 off your first order, making it even more enticing to try it for the first time.

Sajj was the once new work lunch spot in town. Now it has become a staple. So much so that when I returned to SF for work, I had to hit it up. Sajj borrows from the Chipotle model. Walk up to the counter, order your base (salad, rice) and protein (falafel for vegans), and point to as many sides as you want. Favs include eggplant, cauliflower, chickpeas, pickles, garlic hummus, and baba ganoush. The choices can seem overwhelming. It's probably why Sajj recently rolled out a vegan platter to take the guesswork out. Comes with a side of lentil soup. Two locations, one in the FIDI and the other in SOMA on 2nd. With so many places still closed due to the pandemic, it was nice to discover that Sajj was open and was serving its delicious food.

A great Mediterranean place to if you are on the go or if you want to dine in! The chicken shawarma is my go to and the portions are pretty big and filling. The service is pretty fast and there's a cute outdoor seating area where you can catch up with friends or dine in. If you are a fan of customizable bowls and are looking for something filling and healthy, highly recommend!

If I were to describe Sajj Mediterranean in three words it would have to be fresh, aromatic, and rejuvenating! I know that rejuvenating might be a strange word to describe food with but hear me out. After I have a super filling meal, that dreadful food coma feeling sets in immediately and it makes me want to laze around, but after my friends and I tried two different entrees, lentil soup, and hella pita bread we were still ready to run around the city. Not only was the food rejuvenating, it was packed with vegetables sourced from around the bay area. It wasn't until the end of our meal that I noticed the big sign that showed which cities in the bay they get each of their ingredients from. Any entree you get will literally come with your serving of vegetables for the day, maybe even three days. You can choose from so many different options like eggplant, chickpeas, pickles, avocado, tomatoes, cauliflower, slaw, beets, and soooo many more things. I let the manager build our plates for us! We got a vegan plate that came with falafel, diced pickles, hummus, arugula + balsamic dressing, rice, cauliflower, eggplant, chickpeas, tomatoes, and tahini to pour over top. We also got the steak shawarma with hummus, tzatziki, arugula + balsamic dressing, and rice. Also, let me tell you that everything was seasoned with the heart, not a damn measuring spoon. Every single component tasted as if it was seasoned separately so that it created layers upon layers of flavor and gave it so many different levels of depth. I could legit eat their falafel all day long as long as it was served with their piping hot and soft pita bread + garlic sauce (toum). We all fell so hard for the toum that we took home a 16oz tub of it. We got it on Monday and it was finished by Wednesday. What made their toum so unique though is the fact that aside from the typical seasonings, garlic, oil, and lemon, they add potatoes. It gives it almost a mashed potato consistency and it is to die for. Literally found ourselves putting it on everything from banh mi to breakfast sandwiches, such a good addition. Our experience at Sajj Mediterranean could not have been better. The staff, specifically Zenen, were so accommodating and ready to host us and provide us with whatever we needed to be comfortable and happy. Definitely stop by Sajj Mediterranean if you're in the Bay Area!

If you're from the east coast and miss Cava, come to SAJJ and you'll be pleasantly surprised that the food is even better than Cava! I got their pomegranate chicken with rice and an assortment of vegetables and spreads. So good! The chicken tasted so fresh and the rice was really flavorful without being salty. I loved the eggplant and cauliflower sides and the hummus, garlic spread, and tzatziki were all great. You really can't go wrong with any of the veggies. They're all so well seasoned and fresh! The side of lentil soup was also good! Not the best lentil soup but it was free with the chicken, so no complaints over here. Definitely would recommend SAJJ for a quick meal!

There was complimentary bread which was insanely good and fluffy and warm plus tahini and an onion tomato sauce I think along with radishes and olives. We are not olive ppl sadly but I tried one and it was pretty okay. The service was great and all the servers were super attentive and accommodating. The Stuffed falafel was so good and huge 1 is enough for 2 people. The mosabaha was very refreshing and so good. The meat combo was good overall and everything was very herbally spiced, I wasn't impressed by the lamb tho but the kebab, hummus, and chicken were great! I haven't had Mousakhan before so not sure how it should taste but to me it was sweet and savory with really well cooked chicken. I honestly felt pretty healthy overall cause I was eating hella veggies and everything tasted so fresh. The kunafa was good we got it crispy and was yummy imo but was a lil oily (I think this is normal tho). Arab food isn't really spicy but it is spiced and very herbal which I felt in the food here, I appreciate that chili sauce is provided for the spice lovers. Overall, would highly recommend. It was about $100ish for everything and they recently increased their prices but tbh the portion sizes are huge and I feel like it is so worth it we had hella leftovers. If we had 4 ppl instead of 2 it would've been perfect portions for everyone.

When we arrived at around 7:30 pm, there were tables available. It's a comfortable cafe-like restaurant with mural paintings on the wall. Service was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the food wasn't as good as the ambiance and waitstaff. ***OUR PICKS*** BEEF SHAWERMA ENTREE ~ the beef was overly salted, saffron rice was ok, hummus was really thick, like peanut butter. My guy ordered this and thought it was average. 3/5 LAMB SHISH KEBAB WRAP ~ this was my dish. I ate one half of the wrap and it only held two cubes of lamb meat. The lettuce and tomatoes made the wrap bland. The meat was seasoned, but everything was plain, so it needed more seasoning. Honestly, this was missing flavor! I'll have to add something to it when I eat the rest of this wrap at home. 2.5/5 HALF ROASTED CHICKEN AND RICE ~ Our friend ordered this dish. It needed more sumac. This tasted like plain roasted chicken. Maybe it needs more seasoning while marinating. It wasn't dry, so that's a relief. Rice was ok and it wasn't dry or soggy. 3.5 We've been spoiled and have had better food in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Nothing stood out for any of us. Prices are a bit high for what you get. Sadly, probably won't be back.

She did think the chicken could've used an extra thirty seconds on the grill to firm up the meat just a touch, but otherwise it was perfect. The Meh: * The Fattoush salad was just OK. It was overdressed and needed more dates that were cut into smaller pieces so that you get more of it in each bite to help offset the vinegar. The Ugly: * Parking here is a real hassle, as it's street parking only and it's all neighborhoods. So, be prepared to drive around endlessly looking for an opening. Conclusion: Best Palestinian food outside of me mum's kitchen. 'Nuff said. **https://www.sfchronicle.com/projects/2024/best-san-francisco-restaurants/ ***https://www.nytimes.com/article/best-san-francisco-restaurants.html

Service attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience. The food is excellent, with rich, authentic Armenian and Mediterranean flavors. A standout is the Armenian coffee--strong, rich, aromatic, and perfectly prepared with mini bakhlava. It's the perfect way to end a meal. A place of both comfort and quality.

This place is fantastic! It's cozy (but not loud or cramped) and the food is varied and delicious…read more My recent trip included a sampling plate of all 4 fillo offerings (the cheese karni and the Levantine meat tart were the best), Armenian potato salad, lemon chicken rice soup, and the saffron chicken kebab over rice pilaf (dinner special of the night). The kebabs were made with chicken breast, but very tender and moist, and the side of hummus was fresh, creamy and delicious. We also tried the sangria which was great- not too sweet and decently strong (not watered down bad wine). For dessert, the lemon cake was tasty but odd that dried cranberries were sprinkled into the whipped cream. I appreciated the variety offered on the menu- not just typical Greek food you find everywhere else that touts "Mediterranean food". The service was super nice and efficient, and I like that it has been family owned and run (sadly an increasingly rare San Francisco characteristic these days)- you can tell the difference in the quality and thought put into the experience.

I'm sure there are other Persian cafés and restaurants as good as Lavash. I hardly stop to think about what made Lavash interesting. The floral aroma throughout the entire atmosphere, the gentleness of the waiters and hostesses who're well focused on serving others, and their signature paper thin Lavash bread. A clear teapot filled with saffron tea with rock candy on a stick; seen how they dip it in after pouring the tea. Interesting orange color indeed! A plate of zucchini, grape tomatoes, Moroccan mint leaves, and a pair of Bulgarian cheese; complimentary for my first visit here. Persian noodle soup, filled with beans, chickpeas, and lentils; loved the floral notes in every spoonful. Main course, veggie kabob on a bed of basmati rice drenched in saffron and spices, along with some onions and mushrooms, and of course, a large Lavash bread at the bottom to fill the whole plate. The best part is to completely sandwich wrap after I marginalized the contents on the plate. Ahhh! Satisfying to the last bite of herbs and spices. Not filling though, but I had no need for any dessert. Another highly recommended place to eat for locals and tourists alike. I let some of my friends know how much they'll love the best Persian dishes locals raved about. Thumbs up for the people of Lavash!
