When we lived in Northeast Ohio in the early 2000's, my wife and I used to go to the original Swensons in Akron. Then they opened one near our house in North Canton, and we were all set. We moved to Dublin in 2006, and really missed Swensons until they began to expand into Central Ohio a few years ago. We've been to several of the Franklin County locations and they are all good, but I think the Hilliard location is the best. Understand that this is a car hop burger place, so my high rating is based on similar offerings, and not gourmet burger joints. The Swenson burgers are old-school, and for me that's just perfect. I always order a cheese burger with "everything", which at Swensons means onion, pickle, and mustard...I don't know how that became a thing, but it makes me happy. The fries are fat and crispy, and the milkshakes are great! The only issue is related to Covid-19, as like most places they can't seem to find enough help and service suffers as a result. That said, the employees that served us on Monday were seriously hustling to keep it together, and I appreciate them very much. The burger deserved 2 stars. However, their milkshake and wonderful customer service saved them. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now so you can see how disappointed I am. The burger was seriously sad. The bun was stale and the burgers were dry and had no flavor. I also got fried mushrooms which were decent in the beginning but near the end of the bag all the breading was falling off the mushrooms. The customer service was great. It wasn't busy at all and they have a lot of car space so we were served pretty quickly. But, I cannot say I will ever be back. read more

No drive thru, they come to your car to place orders for you and deliver to you. It looks like they have a dinning room in front but I opted order to go. Parking spots numbered and they place a placard under the wiper for further identification. I bought a cheeseburger, 6 piece nuggets, fries and a large drink to go. Total $10.02. Cheeseburger $2.75 had a nice flavor to it. I only opted for onion and pickles and I like the flavor of the meat. The fries $2.10 hot and fresh I really liked. Nuggets are $2.75 but generic in my opinion. Nuggets are nothing to brag about but the BBQ dipping sauce I requested is Bulls-Eye sauce so the sauce helped. Large drink $2.25 and tasted right. They do run the order out to you. Hopefully they don't trip. They have a digital card reader that accepts RFID/tap card/Samsung/Apple type of payments (if you see a WiFi signal sideways with a hand and card like image that usually indicate most forms of digital acceptable) so I could have used my iPhone for contactless payment. Wasn't busy and cooked to order so it was only 5-10 minutes round about which includes me checking out menu for the first time and asking questions. read more

Fresh, cheap and good burgers---what more could you ask for? The guys definitely sprint to come take your order but they don't rush you to order! The milkshakes are good too! I've liked everything I've gotten there and appreciate that they give you the tray if you want to eat there. It does take them about 10 minutes to get you your food but i don't mind that because it's definitely fresh! The guys I've had when I've been here have all been super nice!! I had been driving by this place pretty often and telling myself I needed to try it and boy am I glad I did.... I am from the west coast so I've been in a quest for a comparable burger to In-N-Out so this place may be it... their burger is super juicy and comes with a few sauces that lean towards bbq in taste and it's definitely the great alternate that I was looking for. If service is important to you, there is no better place to get a burger. The staff literally SPRINT to your car as soon as you pull up and answer any questions you may have immediately and kindly. The food prep is quick and they will give you a heads up if anything you order may take additional time. The food is very good, although it feels slightly "un-Akron" to eat this in Columbus. Had probably the worst burger ever at the Hilliard Swensons tonight. I remember now why I hadn't been to Swensons in a while. The service was fast and friendly but the meal was pitiful. The burger was dry and had probably been sitting around for a while. The chocolate malt while I did get the extra, extra chocolate syrup that I asked for was one that I didn't finish. I am a chocolate person so for me not to finish a chocolate malt is unheard of. Im not sure what brand of syrup they use but it really doesn't taste like chocolate. The malt is definitely not carnation malt so it was not good at all. Really disappointed. Will not be going back. read more

The burger is just average. The bun is good but the meat patties are a little on the thin side. You're coming here for the drive in experience which is unique but the food is nothing special. The iced tea is from a fountain and not fresh brewed, which makes it tastes awful. On the good side, service was quick and friendly. read more

Best food around. I now live in Detorit but whenever im in town Swen is a priority. Galley boy is a great option , but me personally i like the Double Cheeseburger with "Everything" paired with Fried Zucchini with cajun seasonings and a side of Ranch ! I originally left a poor rating after my first Swenson's experience due to a smashed hamburger bun, lack of side choices, and an overall unimpressive meal/service. However, the manager reached out to me personally after reading my review and offered to credit my next meal in order to see if the second experience was better. Sure enough, it was! The burger was MUCH better (the bun wasn't smashed) and my family enjoyed their meals as well. I do wish they had a few more side options (salads, for one), but I will absolutely go back when I'm in the mood for a burger and some coleslaw. read more

Extremely disappointed after trying Swensons for the first time. Everything we ordered here was disgusting. The galley boy patties were dry, the buns were stale, and the sauce was just off. We stopped in at the new Swenson's while in Hilliard and had a great experience. We were greeted immediately with smiling servers and our food was delivered fast. I'm not sure if this is the fast food version of the restaurant they had on the east side a couple of decades ago, with the train that went around the interior walls. Nonetheless food is crazy delicious,. There coneys are a must try, as well as the sloppy joes. The best thing on that menu though is there galley burger, insane. There were very few cars in the lot when I pulled in, even though it's a Saturday around lunch. I ordered a burger and a Coke; 40 minutes later, my food arrived. The server apologized for the long wait and said they were really busy. Had to eat my food in the car on the way home, because by now I'm running late. When I opened the burger and took a bite, it was cold! I'm not sure how long my food sat in the restaurant before they delivered it, but from the temperature of the burger I assume there was a considerable time between when it was ready for delivery, and when it was actually brought out to me. read more

My visit to Swenson's in Hilliard was wonderful! I'm an avid swen eater since I've lived in northeast Ohio, and they are doing a great job keeping their tradition at troops out in Columbus! My food was fast and delicious. And the servers were eVen faster! Cenzo worked with the quickness, and got my order to the kitchen faster than most. This was our first time at this Swensons. We've like the service and food at the other two we've visited. Tonight we stopped by this one and picked up an order to take home. Once I bit into my pulled pork sandwich I found there was a bone in my sandwich. I was surprised but thought that it had to be an isolated incident. It wasn't. I found two more pieces of bone. I called the store so they could stop using that batch of pulled pork or at the very least have someone go through it very carefully to make sure no bones were left. The manager was to busy to take my call and the employee said the only thing they could do was replace my sandwich. NO THANK YOU! I'm not interested in choking or swallowing bone from the same batch you just served me from. They said the issue was with corporate so I filled out the survey from my receipt and we'll see if anyone at Swensons Corporate cares about a choking hazard in their food. But for me I'm done there. If they are willing to risk me choking or swallowing bone, well then, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I'm not gonna be too hard on Swenson's in this initial review, but I will opine and leave why my experience was 3 stars. Drove up with a couple of friends and was promptly met with instructions and menus. All 3 of us ordered a Galley Boy. We understood what we were getting, a BBQ based sauce on our burger. We just wanted to see what the hype was about, and trusted that the establishment had their "tried and true" flagship taste. I think our experience would have been better if we had ordered our burgers with the toppings of our choice. The meat quality was good, and overall burger and bun were good. The Onion Rings were tasty and the Peanut Butter Shake was a definite repeat for me. The only reason I dropped a star was because of the Galley Boy sauces. I recommend trying Swenson's, but keep in mind to customize your burger. If I had done the same I would probably have added a star. Happy Eating! read more
