Our daughter was initially extremely afraid and apprehensive getting used to her head under water. She cried bloody murder the entire first week. It was admittedly very difficult having to hear her scream the entire 15 minutes, but trust the process! Alex was so good with her and earned her trust. By the end of the second Monday, she got out of the water and exclaimed how much she loved swimming. I was shocked! Something just clicked. Not only did she get over her fear of having her head in the water, she loved it. She was able to roll, float on her back, and kick within the second week. She spent the third week refining skills and feeling more comfortable under water. We are so incredibly proud of the progress she's made in such a short amount of time. And while we feel so much better about the skills she's picked up, nothing can beat the confidence and resilience she's built along the way. Thanks, Teacher Alex!

The core of the problem is the board president and the rest of the current board of directors are overzealous and inexperienced parents and won't let these coaches do their job. The head coach of a team is the root of every program, which we all learned last year when a highly respected and experienced coach was dismissed which forced away the teams top swimmers along. The new coach who took over did his best but his tenure was doomed from the start. He was hired as he was an experienced coach and also a close friend of a board member (not suspicious at all) and yet despite his close connections to board leadership HE RESIGNED AFTER A YEAR because of the toxic culture around him. HUGE RED FLAG! As a result of the lack of consistent leadership is Lakewood has felt MUCH LESS like a community. The friends of our kids continue to leave to other teams and Lakewoods team performance has tanked. You see the decrease in the teams quality everywhere, just look at the team's website and social media it's full of creepy, low-quality AI generated content instead of what used to be real pictures of families and swimmers. The swimmers on this team deserve better and despite being loyal to Lakewood for years we now have no choice now but to leave so our kids can finally find community and a reliable coach. It's especially sad because Lakewood has such a historic legacy but the team cannot bear the weight of this boards incompetent leadership. I truly with the best for the team going forward but realistically if Lakewood and the next head coach are going to survive and return to what it once was they need to remove the board president and rest of the board members.

I was desperate to find someone to teach my son how to swim since we have a pool and wanted him to learn water safety. I found Kristina on yelp and she is AMAAAAAAAAAZING! Her techniques have worked very well. My son cried in his first few lessons, but Kristina was able to build his trust by making lessons fun. It's been 2 months and he has progressed substantially and no longer cries when he gets in the pool. Kristina did so good with my older son that I now have my 1.5 year old taking lessons as well. We have a pool in the backyard and before their lessons with Kristin, the kids were not allowed in the backyard by themselves. My now 7 year old had big fear of going underwater and my 5 year was starting to follow her lead. Kristin is experienced, professional and patient. She just graduated to Pre Comp and is now a swordfish. My 10 month old started with the parent tot class for 1 month and then we switched to private lessons with Emily and he's doing so good! He's going underwater and learning to float already. I'm here twice a week and see that everyone here works really well with the kids, my children and I all feel comfortable working with any of the amazing instructors :)

Coach Leo has been fantastic with our 3 year old son. We have seen so much progress in his abilities to swim. More importantly, to me, my son is so excited to go to swim lessons. Coach Leo is warm, encouraging, patient, and caring. He always wraps up the lesson with a summary of what was worked on and what is to come in the future. He is a wonderful addition to the Watersafe team. We will always be thankful for the invaluable lessons he's teaching our son. Can't say enough about how clean the facility is - staff is constantly keeping things clean and organized. Alex is the person we see most and he is just always so polite and attentive. Love the front staff who are present most of the time we go - Corina, Mikaila, Gaby, and Montana. You all give this place such a welcoming and family vibe.
