Totally disgusted with the owner! The restaurant was packed with less than 6 feet between tables. I witnessed the owner interact with the table next to us. The family at the table came in wearing face masks and the owner discouraged them from wearing protection. This family was not only exercising their right to protect themselves, but also protecting the restaurant employees and business. It looked like a nice place, but we went in with an hour and 45 minutes before having to be across the street for something, and had a "15 minute" wait - after we were seated our server didn't come to our table for 15 minutes, and by the time she did we had 30 minutes to be where we needed to. We still tried ordering but there was no sign of any progress, so we eventually just left some cash for our orange juice and walked out. My husband and I ordered omelettes an hour before closing and his was as dry as Chevy Chase's turkey. When he cut it open, you could actually see the hollow insides containing ham, sausage and unmelted cheese. The waitress saved the day by recommending an order of the flourless chocolate torte, which kind of redeemed the whole brunch. It was delicious, so we may give this place another chance in the future to try the lunch menu. Great breakfast!! Everyone is very friendly. The kids menu has great choices, the portions are realistic, and the price is great!! I had biscuits and gravy. The gravy has a kick to it, it's thick and flavorful, not overly salted or peppery. I'd suggest ordering the gravy on the side and asking for it to be hotter. While I'm not a fan of lukewarm gravy, this was really good. The pancakes don't need syrup, they are sweet and fluffy. Their bacon was good, and the syrup was used to dip the bacon in. There is no shortage of great breakfast places to eat in the Flathead Valley... I am a huge fan of Bojangles Diner, Swift Creek Cafe, Loula's Cafe... I could go on. But Sykes Diner is on the top of the heap out this way. Down home, old school country style breakfasts. Huge, delicious portions. I had the breakfast special this past time which was a concoction of tater tots, eggs, steak, tomato,and avocado. It was as random as it was delicious. My buddy had the Reuben omelette and it was incredible as well. Never had a bad meal here. The wait is always a while but they have a really cool little country store attached that has the best coffee bar, so you can enjoy browsing the goods and sipping a delicious coffee while waiting! read more

We have been going to Sykes diner a long time. We had breakfast there on Sunday, Oct 20. We usually love their food and service as well as the atmosphere, but this time, I had the worst omelette I think I have ever experienced in a restaurant. It was a cheese & Sausage omelette. We paid an additional $1.50 for the cheese and $2.50 for the sausage. To my surprise, there wasn't more than about a teaspoon of shredded cheese through the entire omelette... including the top! It was hardly noticed ! And the sausage? There was not more than about 16 very, very small cubs of sausage that was merely warmed, never cooked. We lightly complained to our waitress and she was very nice and removed the cost of the coffee for the cheese issue. She never responded to the sausage issue. And, we let that go because we truly like Sykes and their servers. And we love the piano from the owner. But this time, the omelette was inexcusable. And we write this review not with the intent of hurting Sykes business, but rather encourage them to seek out the cooks and re-establish a standard of food preparation that the public will remember as quality food. So please Sykes, make omelettes that the public will remember in a wonderful way, not the way we found it. Thank you. read more

My aunt and uncle found this place and they are avid travelers and have high expectations for dining. It also has an attached gift store and pharmacy. They have been in business for decades. We were on our way to Glacier National Park and decided to have breakfast first. When we pulled into the parking lot, I told my wife, "this is the place"!! The parking lot was almost entirely full. It looked like all the residents of Kalispell had the same idea as we did. We walked past people loitering around, standing, sitting, and leaning on their cars. We knew there would be a wait, but we didn't know how long. When I got to the counter I asked how long the wait was and the host told me it was over an hour. I decided from the looks on people's faces that were eating and the number of people waiting that it might be worth the wait. Boy was it ever. First of all, our wait was about 40 minutes, not over an hour. Then we were seated and a waitress took our order right away. All the waiters and waitresses were hustling and moving constantly. Besides that, they were friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable about the menu. To the best part now. The food was delicious, hot, and cooked exactly the way we wanted it. Superb!!! Amazing breakfast menu. This is the 2nd time we have come on our 4-day vacation in town. Last night we came over for huckleberry pie for dessert my husband had the peanut butter cream pie both were delicious and deadly. The dining room has plenty of space and the tables are not on top of each other. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. There is local art on the walls and a gift shop and pharmacy as well as a mini grocery mart. Everything you need in one place! So cute My husband ordered the Hungry Mans biscuits and gravy and I had the lite rancher. They definitely didn't disappoint. After researching breakfast places in the area, Sykes Diner came up with positive reviews, so I gave it a shot. Upon finding the location, I was initially confused because pulling into the parking lot and looking at the building, it's a grocery store/market. I thought to myself, this can't be right and almost took off but said "ef it" I'm going in anyway. When I walked in, to the left was the diner and it was packed for 9 am on a Tuesday. I seated myself at the counter, and was greeted within seconds to put in a drink order. I decided on the Sykes Light Breakfast (1 egg, 1 piece of toast, 1 potato) and a single buttermilk pancake. The food came out with the quickness and it was tasty. My only issue was that they cooked the scrambled eggs in the bacon fat (only because I could taste it because I don't eat meat, and for a reason) so I ate everything else but. I think it's a bit presumptuous to assume everyone is a meat eater and wants their non-meat items cooked in meat grease. Regardless, it was cheap and service was friendly and efficient. read more

I got the Prospectors breakfast with chicken fried steak, sausage gravy, biscuit, eggs and hash browns. All were delicious. The biscuit was huge but didn't lose its texture or flavor because of it's size and was delicious. The sausage gravy was very good as well. Eggs and hash browns were great.
