I tried Sylmar's Fix last week and while the food and drink I ordered was good, it's a bit pricey. I ordered The Works panini and the chipotle aioli gave a great kick. Unexpectedly stellar sandwiches, made fresh right in front of you with quality ingredients and care. I wouldn't have expected something so delicious and affordable in this area, frankly, and i'm so pleased to have found this place. We had a bunch of their hot sandwiches, which isn't normally my thing, as most hot sandwiches i've had other places of a similar price point just come out so tasteless and underwhelming.... not here! somehow, even in my tuna melt, the lettuce i had them add was miraculously still crisp when i got it home! They staff is all really nice and accommodating. They'll alter anything to your liking. This place even delivers! Amazing. I've only tried their Fix sandwich and thought it was pretty good. However I really like this places smoothies. They're cool, refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness. Sylmar's Fix is kind of hard to find because its on the backside of a shopping center. But the hours are good and the staff has always been friendly and attentive. I just started working in the Sylmar area and well find a lunch spot is quite difficult. It's mostly fast food or questionable mexican spots. I was happy to find this sandwich shop with fresh paninis and salads. I got the chicken pesto, as it is one of my favorite sandwiches. At first look, it's mostly shredded chicken and pesto mayo and after a bit of digging I found the tomato and the avocado had slid to the side. I wasn't impressed with the first bite. There seemed to be too much bread to filling ratio, but as I continued I was more sad that there wasn't enough sandwich overall. It's one of the best things I've found to eat in the area and I can't wait to go back to try all the other sandwiches and maybe ask for extra tomato and less sauce next time. Nothing beats that toasted crunch on a good grilled sandwich. I wish there was more for the $7 and change sandwich but compared to what my options are, it's a winner so far. I believe the sign says they are open till 7:45pm but I expected them to be open until 8 pm. Just a warning for anyone trying to beat the clock before they close. read more

Food was alright to good, prices are reasonable to cheap, the place itself looks somewhat rundown, and their staff ... the young lady who took the orders, answered phones, handed out orders, and so on seemed completely overwhelmed and frustrated. She wasn't even trying to be friendly that's how stressed she was. Ordered over the phone and when I arrived to pick it up she told me I can't get the milkshakes (that I ordered ahead over the phone!!!) because they're "too busy". Okay? Cool?! Hate when they charge you for Avocado but don't add avocado. Then when drive home and find out you have no avocado and you call to complain they don't care and say too bad we don't have any avocado. Why didn't you tell me you have no Avocado in the first place? Why did you charge me $1 more for arugula if i'm not getting any avocado? Why are you charging for Avocado if you don't have Avocado??? I use to come here a lot more than now. Reason why is because the past 4 times that I've came it hasn't tasted the same as it use to. I normally get the chicken pesto. Every-time I've gotten it now it's been COLD, theres almost no pesto sauce on it and tastes so dry. The cheese use to be a little melted on it and now it's not. The bread use to be a little warm and you can see the grill marks, and now you can BARELY see the lines.. the quality of it is very different than before. I continue to come here when I don't bring my lunch as I work in the area. Lately all I get is the Cilantro Wrap....I love that cilantro sauce, I'm hooked and when I need a fix I come here. This place is definitely an original on this side of the neighborhood. You definitely can get your fix of something different when you are in the area at Sylmar's Fix. That one time when I ordered The Fix on a Ciabatta Roll: It's good, but the outside was warm from being freshly pressed but the meat was still kind of refrigerator cold. Next time, I ordered the Chicken Cilantro on a French Roll: really good, has a tiny spice and very flavorful. But it throws me off that it's cold when there are grill marks as if it's been freshly pressed. I wish it was actually warm from being freshly pressed to order. It's still a delicious meal nonetheless. I also recommend their juices and smoothies: The Detox Juice is beets, carrots, celery, oranges... so refreshing and healthy! Tasty sandwiches, but the crowded lunch rush is a major issue for me. Order ahead and manage your expectations. Came in around 11:45 with a long line almost to the door. Ordered The Works ($9.50) and a Citrus Blend Smoothie ($6) to eat-in. By the time I paid and turned around, there were no available seats, with people claiming tables while waiting for their friends to meet them. When my order was ready at 12:15, and I realized I had to get back to work. I asked for my sandwich to-go and they handed me some foil and a paper bag, to pack up myself. I can see why some other reviews complain about the service--but given the rush and few employees, it is totally understandable. Still, I wouldn't want to spend my limited lunch break waiting in line. Ordering ahead seems to be the way to go--with the long line, however, one guy rushed in at around 11:55 and asked the person in front of me if he could skip just to pick up his order. Everyone seemed to understand, but for first-timers, I could see this rubbing a few people the wrong way. The sandwich was good. I thought it was weird half the sandwich had the consistency of shredded chicken and the other sliced, but that didn't affect the flavor. The ciabatta bread was crisp and airy, allowing the chipotle sauce to break through. A little messy, but a solid sauce with medium heat. My drink order had a runnier consistency than I expected, but I had to get back to work, so no time to complain. Only later I realized they gave me a Maui Pineapple juice instead (when a little carrot rind came up my straw). At least four orders ahead of me also ordered the Maui Pineapple, so I could see them mixing it up. Glad to see what the hype was about (it is a good juice), and not as mad because it was the same price as the Citrus Blend, but on a hot day, I was really looking forward to something more...icy...to cool down. I've had similar paninis with much better service and at slightly lower prices, but not in Sylmar. This is probably the only and best place of its kind, so let this review (if you made it this far) help manage your expectations. Be prepared to spend at least $10 for a sandwich (menu/photos are outdated...they also charge a credit card fee for orders under $10). Avoid the lunch rush or order ahead. If you go during the lunch rush, they might mix up your order. If you order ahead, everyone seems to be okay with skipping the line to pay and pick up, just be cool and polite about it (with everyone in line, not just the person up front). read more

You know what sucks about success? Some people don't know how to pay it back, to the people who got them their success in the first place. I remember when this place had bomb food for cheap prices. The pretend owner here is a complete jackass, and it's easy to call people names, but I'll explain his actions and you tell me what you think. First off, there is rude employee who says HE's the owner. If you run into this guy, let's call him Juan. Juan is disheveled and he doesn't ever wash his hands. I've seen him go from register to countertop. I don't understand how this place hasn't been giving a lower grade than a B. Because the location is not sanitary. So Juan, on several occasions has followed people out of the store, literally screaming at clients. I KNOW the owner of the building, and I KNOW the lovely lady who signed the lease agreement. So if you run into a prideful man acting the fool in here, just know he's full of salami. Speaking of salami, the quality of the food has nosedived DRAMATICALLY!!! The once crisp vegetables are usually soggy. There use to be a good combination of toasty bread and fresh ingredients. The bread is stale now, and trying to chew on their paninis is painful. Who can leave out the icing on top? Prices have almost doubled, I'm sure their rent has not increased that much. Last but not the least bit disrespectful to their clients, is the $0.50 surcharge for using your card. Only businesses that HATE their clients charge this ridiculous fee. Just more proof that they hate sylmar and secretly wish they had their store in another location. Honestly with all the delivery services and great places to dine around town, I can't give you a single reason for why you would want to waste any of your time with this establishment. read more
