Hot day in San Fernando and I was craving something light and refreshing. Found Sylmars Fix on Yelp and dropped in. It's a little hidden and in the back of a strip mall. Plenty of parking. The inside is small and can fill up fast and boy did it. I had the Tuscany salad with chicken. It was so tasty. Packed with veggies, avocado and perfectly grilled chicken. It was a pretty big portion but it was so good I couldn't stop eating it. Staff is very friendly. They also sell smoothies and I probably would have gotten one but the place doesn't have bathrooms. We were in the SFV Christmas shopping and we decided to pick a spot in the area to get some lunch. Yelped places near me for sandwiches and Sylmar Fix popped up. Their located in a shopping strip mall area off of Foothill blvd. and they have tons of parking. All the workers were masked up and they did have signs posted about all customers being masked up as well. My hubby and I decided to share the chicken dijon panini and our son went with the chicken wrap, hold the AVO (who's kid is this?!). Poor customer service, I ordered 3 paninis. I usually check my order before going home but I've never had an issue. I get home to only two paninis and my daughters panini is missing, I called and the woman didn't apologize for their mistake and she said well you can pick up or give you store credit and I told her I would go pick it up. I was kind, but I didn't get the same energy returned. Once I arrived she told me it will come up rn, so I waited once it was ready she handed it to me, again she didn't acknowledge the mistake on their behalf, and I still kindly said "Thank You " when she handed me the order she just turned away. Which to me felt very rude. I had to drive back just to go get my sandwich for my daughter and that's the kind of customer service she gave me ? I would say that wasn't very kind on her end. I found Sylmars Fix while being in the area for my vaccine, and I'm so happy Yelp brought me to this amazing hole in the wall! There was a line for food, which led me to believe that it's a local favorite! I placed our order over the phone, and the food was ready in 15 minutes. We got the chicken pesto panini, a tuna melt, a Nutella croissant, and two big chills (their guava smoothie). Everything was delicious and I even craved it when it was time for my second shot! Definitely give this place a shot! It's in an unassuming plaza, but it's definitely a local gem. They also practice safe social distancing and do not allow parties from different households to share tables outside. I was THRILLED to be able to go there on Memorial Day for some paninis. Not the same. I'm a little disappointed with Sylmar's Fix. The shredded chicken tastes old. You know the taste when the chicken when chicken is a day or two old. Has that refrigerator taste. I ordered sandwiches, a salad, a smoothie, and a fresh juice. The sandwiches were great as usual. My salad was missing the olive oil but otherwise it was good. My daughter's smoothie was amazing according to her, but my juice tasted like it was juiced a few days ago. It was supposed to have pineapple but I didn't taste pineapple at all and it tasted like old celery juice. My stomach began to hurt shortly after the first few sips. My husband asked if she could explain what the half and half panini special was and she gave him horrible attitude making him feel as she was rushed and annoyed of him. Ugh! I kept seeing them on yelp. Things looked good. So, I ordered the Pesto Chicken Panini. I'm hugely lactose intolerant, sadly, like a really bad time. I specifically ordered no cheese. I get my sandwhich back home and take 2 bites. I observe a funky taste and texture in the sandwhich. I open it up. It appears that mayo is mixed in with the Pesto. I called them back. The nice girl confirms Pesto is irresponsibly mixed with mayo. I have so many feelings, so much disgust, so much deceit about this: 1. Why isn't mayo a fucking ingredient on the menu!? Hello! It's separate to pesto! 2. Real Pesto does not have wretched mayo in it! 3. Who's gonna call the plumber when this toilet backs up?! 4. Where do I get my money back?! 5. I've come here 4 or 5 times now and was very satisfied with my food... but today was NOT GOOD AT ALL!!!! My panini was cold and there were like 3 grill marks on it. Wanted a little something sweet near home and remembered that this place has a nutella w/ banana and strawberry croissant panini (wow, is that a mouthful or what? No pun intended.) Arrived around lunch time with plenty of parking and ordered my nutella thing to go. Lots of families and couples grabbing a bite to eat. Seems like the thing to get here is "the fix" or "the works" as I heard that being ordered numerous times as I waited. Cashier lady (who I assume is the owner or family of owner) was great and let me know my panini would be up shortly. She also had good rapport with the kitchen staff which was nice to see. She was speaking Spanish to them and joking around and everyone seemed relaxed even though it was busy. I usually really like this place. The meat and produce are always fresh. I typically order the half sandwich/half salad for lunch and a bag of chips. But each time I order it gets worse and worse. I ordered this time using a meal delivery service. I paid $21 and got basically bread to and arugala. The arugala salad usually comes with arugula, avacado, cheese, oil and lemon wedge. The sandwich is very good, and would be better if the chicken salad was a little less wet. I was leaning to give this place three stars, but went with four instead, down from my prior five star review. Why? 1. The COVID fiasco is largely over. The owner needs to take down the worthless and Woke COVID signs. 2. Put the tables out again, COVID is over!!!! 3. If the owner is really concerned about customer health, then open the freak'en restroom so we can wash our hands. 4. Clean the front door and windows.
