Thank you Yelpers for once again recommending a fabulous place. I was tired after traveling and "in a mood". I typed in Sazerac and found this lovely place. It was cold and rainy with a packed house inside, but the staff managed to put together two seats at the corner of the bar. The Sazeracs were perfectly made by Lucy. In fact it appears she makes many drinks well. It was great fun watching her make a myriad or artisanal cocktails. We ordered a couple of salads and to me the Brussels sprouts was a real stand out. The friendly patrons suggested the bruschetta and we ended with a rootbeer float. Both of which were quite tasty. This place will be a must do every time we are in New Orleans. read more

Loved this restaurant. Went there twice in a week during a recent conference. The location is great in that it is far enough from Bourbon Street to keep that crowd away, yet close enough to be fun. Ate at the bar both times and loved my meals. Had the gulf shrimp and hominy the first night. Great meal! The second night I enjoyed the pappardelle and really enjoyed it too. I don't usually go for custom cocktails but my table was willing to share tastes and there were some great drinks orchestrated here. Bar nuts were awesome, warm and spiced. Entrees were top-notch - nicely plated, excellent flavor, perfect temperature, and good-sized portions. Dinner was superb! Started with a pickled beet and Louisiana crab salad with a horseradish emulsion. It was sooooo good! The chef came out to ask about it. A nice touch. This place is wonderful...really, THE best restaurant in the French Quarter...my husband & I easily made our reservation thru YELP, arriving a couple mins early we wer offered a seat at the bar to wait a couple mins, our bartender was gracious& friendly, we ordered a couple glasses of wine, a cheese board(ahhh, the cheese board here is exquisite-I think of it regularly now that I'm back home)...we wer seated promptly. We had a wonderful server that answered all of our questions with ease & in the end we decided on having 2 fish specials & a Brussel sprout salad-divine.simple.clean.gentle. Yum. Yum. Went to this great brunch spot in the French Quarter on my last day in New Orleans. Such a pretty little restaurant with a nice courtyard area and bar. We started with the mini fried chicken biscuits that come with honey butter then split brioche French toast and the sausage patty melt. It tasted as good as it sounds. Very, very good food. Excellent service with not too much pretentiousness. Awesome mix of music they play that wasn't predictable, which was refreshing. Thought I'd like to add it was just me with no reservation and I was seated immediately. Hostess was very kind. The atmosphere is very chill and relaxing. My waiter was a little pretentious and didn't have friendly people skills but oh well. I normally don't mention waiter professionalism unless the dining experience is expensive. This place is pricey and when I pay that much I do expect the waiter to have some skill with making his tables feel welcome. I will note that the hostess and bartender were very attentive and cordial. The food was outstanding without question. read more

Food was excellent but the portions were tiny. I come from Miami and I'm used to restaurants of this caliber. Same vibe, same food, same prices and yet half the portions. After spending $120 with two people, we then went down the street to another restaurant to actually have a real meal. Please is cool for an expensive appetizer. They didn't have any available reservations on the night we went, and just as we were leaving the hostess said they had double booked and they would be happy to seat us. So glad they did, the dining experience was a great way to start off our trip! I highly recommend the chicken sandwich, delicious! We came to New Orleans for the first time for a quick weekend trip and I'm so happy we found this place! The first night they said it would be a 2 hour wait for a table, but we could wait for the bar to open. We got a drink and sat by the heaters for a short while before some seats opened up! Our food was amazing as well as our drinks. Fast forward to the next night- we decided to come back again! And ordered everything the same lol. The burgers were so good! Also- really great service. After having a packed day our phones were dying and we needed to be able to call a lyft. Our waiter put our phone on the charger while we were eating! Also love the ambiance in here with the candles. My husband and I highly recommend this place! We had an amazing dinner date here during our visit to New Orleans! We sat out on the patio and greatly enjoyed our time. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable from cocktails to the food. Everything is delicious! Don't be afraid to ask for recommendations from the waitress/waiter. My sister gave me a Gift Card for Christmas and my girlfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner at Sylvain. We went top to bottom, appetizer, entre' and dessert, and all the food was delicious. Her eggplant appetizer was sublime and I loved my fish fritters. Both showed a very deft hand with the frying as there was no grease and a wonderful crust on both. The eggplant dish was the best I've ever had as the eggplant melted in your mouth. The fritters were in a delicious hot and sour broth with a kimchi slaw, both of which added flavor wonderfully. She had the scallops and I had the fish of the night, both fantastic. Both dishes were on top of something wonderful underneath, mine like a pilaf and here's like a pumpkin salsa. I swear, her plate was clean like someone had licked it. She had like a chocolate creme brulee and I had a dense rum cake that both were wonderful. It was a chilly night so it felt very cozy inside. By far the best meal I had in a long weekend in the city (and I had some other very good meals). Hunting for a restaurant for dinner/avoid an impending downpour, we went into Sylvain right at the opening. The interior is very cool - a nice combination of some rustic and modern elements. Although we couldn't get a table, there was plenty of room at the bar for four people. The bartender who helped us (unfortunately didn't catch his name) was awesome. He made some great drinks throughout the meal (Old Fashioned and Rye Manhattan for me, others had more original choices from the menu) and gave us just enough of his attention. The best thing is that towards the end of the meal, when he new we would need to brave the rain to head to the Superdome for the men's basketball NCAA tournament championship game, he brought us out garbage bags and scissors to make into ponchos. We were some of the driest people in the crowd. What a guy! But the most important part to mention is the food. And the food - oh the food. Every dish that we had was fantastic. The beet bruschetta with goat cheese was amazing. I had the shrimp and clams and it was great - delicious seafood and the broth was about as good as it can get. I was lucky to get to also try toe duck confit, beef cheeks, and pork shoulder, and honestly, I don't know if I can find something wrong with any of the dishes. I can't stress enough how excellent our meal was here. My only regret was not getting to taste the rest of the menu. I can't wait to come back some day! read more

I love Gastro Pubs and this place is outstanding! I found this on yelp while visiting New Orleans and had to check it out! Make a reservation and you will have no problem getting a great table. The ambiance was awesome and not cheesy like most restaurants in the quarter and truly is a gem! We got the eggplant fritters (didn't love the aioli) but the house made hot sauce was a great dipping sauce. Also had the sausage and the duck! Both entrees were great. Beer menu is relatively small, but had fantastic cocktails! read more

Sylvain was a great experience. My fiancee and I were in town only for the evening. They sure provided a great meal and fun time. Being from San Francisco, Sylvain reminded me of certain restaurants you may find in SF. The dishes had clean, tasty and fresh flavors at an affordable price. The Waygu Beef starter might have been the star of the night. The burger was simple but cooked perfectly as the beef shined through. The staff was friendly and provided options of what else to see in New Orleans. Sylvain provided a modern take to the New Orleans food scene.
