I originally took my daughter's electric bike to get repaired and Nick was very nice, got the bike part installed and functioning. Unfortunately, there was still a malfunction and Nick still serviced the bike after the fact. After this great experience, I decided to purchase a bike from Synaptic Cycles because I want to make sure that if there is something that goes wrong, they would be there to help us fix it. I spoke to Shawn, he offered several different bike options. I made arrangements with him on the day I drove there to pick it up. When I got there, not only was the bike NOT there but he tried to upsell me on another bike, which was completely disrespectful of my time, not to mention simply shady/sheisty and outright unprofessional. Shawn (claims to be the owner) calls me several days later to let me know the bike I wanted to purchase was back in the store, wanted me to venmo him $800 without seeing the bike in person and was extremely rude and HOSTILE, he ended the call by HANGING UP ON ME. Personally, I think he has some major anger management issues. I would NEVER give business to this place and neither should anyone.. when you support a small business, you want to make sure that you are spoken to in a respectful manner and if there is an issue, you would want a high level of customer service and having the confidence that the issues are being resolved... I just went there this am and Shawn was a major jerk to me. Yesterday I called and spoke to Nick who was really nice and told me to bring in the bike this morning and so I told him I would be there first thing Friday. When I got there and spoke to Shawn he was so short and so rude and cut me off multiple times and told me I have to bring it back Tuesday and no bike shop would be able to repair it this weekend. During our trip from Chicago to California, we had planned to rent bicycles and take in the views. Our friend here in California suggested renting electric bikes. But we knew nothing about them. Shaun @ Synaptic Cycle , was a phenomenal help. He sized the bikes to each one of us. Synaptic Cycles were the only ones renting bikes in the area during covid. Imo renting a bike can be done completely Covid friendly, so I'm not sure why that is... However, I am glad I went with Synaptic. They were easy to communicate with, super kind and mellow. We texted all of our communication even down to securing a bike and paying for it. Which as a millennial I love obvi. They had two bikes waiting for me to make sure one would be good for my size. They gave me a rundown of how to work the e- bike. The bike worked perfectly. It was a ton of fun. Andddd now I want one haha. Side note: They are located at a home residence in the Lantern District, my google maps took me to the wrong house but this figured it out. My sons e-bike stopped working. I contacted the dealer and they suggested this shop. I called up on 12/31 and they answered. I took the bike down and they said it would take a week to two weeks depending on any parts that needed to be ordered. About 5 days later they called with a touch base and gave an update. I picked the bike up today and my son is jazzed to have it back. There are two guys that work there and a cool shop dog. Good service and without any issues. First time renting E bikes as LOCALS and wow!!! We paid $50 to have two bikes dropped off at the house to test them out for the day with friends who already bought some... we literally rode them ALL day! My husband is tall and we rented one with phat tires and it held him comfortably and had a ton of power! The guy at the shop we spoke to was so helpful and the guy who delivered the bikes was awesome showing us how to use them and they even came back to pick the bikes up. Worth every single dollar only wish we did this sooner. We already called family and friends and are getting everyone to do it asap - what an amazing day and an amazing experience. This place has the best selection of bikes to chose from and total VIP service! The bikes were in PERFECT condition and they even come with a saddle bag on back to throw your gear in! Book it! We are a group of roughly 8 adults and 8 kids who came to Orange County for Thanksgiving weekend. We really wanted to do some fun activities in the area and renting electric bikes to ride along the beaches and coastal areas sounded like a great idea. We did some research and hit a few snags because at least two in our group were physically smaller than the bikes available from many shops. In addition, the size of our group was also too large for several shops. Finally, we found Shaun from Synaptic Cycles in Dana Point.  He made these issues go away!  He was able to find e-bikes that fit our smaller riders.  He was able to arrange to have extra e-bikes brought to his location from another area.  He did a lot of work to make this happen. When our group arrived, he met all of us and swiftly got us arranged on our bikes, fitted to the bikes, instructed us in how to use the bikes, set us up with helmets and locks etc.  He had terrific recommendations on where to ride.  He was great working with the kids in our group.  He is extremely knowledgeable, accessible, and an overall cool person.  Also, the bikes were of excellent quality! We had a fantastic day!  The places Shaun recommended were very accessible but also stunningly gorgeous.  The kids had an amazing time and wanted to keep going for extra hours of fun!  (We had dinner plans, unfortunately.).  One thing became clear.  Shaun and Synaptic were not your average "bike shop" that does rentals.  Instead, they were used to dealing with larger corporate activities and groups who are more demanding and challenging to service than the casual family going out on an excursion.   They are at a much higher level of service and sophistication.  We would eagerly recommend them.  And all of us look forward to our next trip! read more

We are hooked! We can't stop thinking about the amazing time we had renting ebikes from Synaptic Cycles. Shawn, the owner, was extremely helpful and made sure we were setup to have a great experience - he is knowledgeable, professional and down to earth. The location is perfect! We were able to explore not only the Dana Point area, but also went up and down the coast. We made it as far as San Clemente State Park and were able to explore new areas. We'd recommend this as a fun date for couples looking for an adventure. We actually did this for our anniversary and it was perfect!
