I had heard of this place and always wanted to try. Coming in, the place was busy, but I was able to get a single seat at the bar right away (That might be a small miracle on a Sunday). I browsed through the menu and settled on the Remedy. Not a health conscious choice, but still delicious. The cottage fries were cooked perfectly with a nice crunch, but still fluffy potato inside. Chorizo was not overly spicy nor was the green chili. They have gluten free options for pancakes and English muffins so my wife, who suffers from celiac, can eat here. Syrup is a hidden gem in an office building. Let me state this first, I LOVE BREAKFAST. That being said, they had a ton of options including their crack bacon...which is amazingly flavorful in this town of very meaty but flavorless bacon. Their beignets are good if you don't know the real thing...otherwise they are just a nice treat. Don't get their pancake flight if you're going to have the pigs in a blanket, as both orders are equal in size...twice the stated size of dollar hot cakes. I am told that the Bloody Mary was "OK". Our first course of breakfast appetizers came out quickly, but our actual breakfast took forever. I had vail mountain steamer which was an excellent alcoholic beverage if you're not a fan of baileys or amaretto. Just tried this place for the first time last Saturday. It was pretty busy (but what else do you expect for brunch on Saturday?) so the wait was about an hour which isn't bad at all considering weekend brunch downtown. Oddly enough, I've never had breakfast here! I work in the building and have to get to work - no time for a sit down breakfast. Anyway - I've had lunch there a number of times because I'm in love with their Thanksgiving Sandwich. man it's good - just what you'd think it'd be. Service is always great and I've never had to wait. A bit spendy and - here's a weird criticism - the forks are almost comically large. Biggest forks I've ever seen. The gluten free menu is tops. There are gluten free waffles, pancakes, English muffins, and buns so just about everything can be made for gluten free eaters. The location is delightful for downtown if you want something brunchy or breakfasty instead of traditional lunch fare for a mid-week work lunch. The coffee was good and the service super helpful. One of the cooks also has a side business of baking, and she hooked us up with a gluten free, vegan cupcake--just to be nice. I'm only visiting from Baltimore and this was the first place I ate the next morning. I have to say, very impressed. The wait was about 40 mins but def worth the wait. It was a Saturday morning so obviously it was busy. I had the cherry creeker eggs benedict with corn beef hash. Sadly it was corn beef, no hash, needed more hollandaise sauce (was very little and should be kinda soppy on the bread when it creeps down the sides, just my opinion lol), but still tasted fresh and the eggs were properly poached! They were pretty good, but the Breakfast Burrito (with Green Chili and Chorizo) was a little bland: maybe the chorizo needs to be chunkier or some hot sauce on the side? Also, their pancakes look fantastic. We didn't have any coffee before showing up, which is probably why we pulled a stupid and ordered burritos and oatmeal at a Pancake House! I find it absolutely unbelievable that this place gets such an incredibly High rating for what it is. Not only is it expensive but you definitely do not come even close to getting what you paid for. I am accustomed to eating at some nice establishments and fine dining restaurants around town and understand that for great service, Ambiance, and amazing food you might pay top-dollar. But I am not accustomed to is having below-average quality food at a premium price. Wasn't really pleased with my time here at Syrup. I went to eat there for brunch before my flight back to Texas. The customer service at the host stand was friendly, but it was when we were sat that things began to take a turn. After trying to get us to get more drinks, we asked just for a couple of mins to review the menu. About after 12 mins pass , he comes and takes our orders along with two other large tables orders all at once, and then proceeds to go and greet another table that had been sitting for about 5 mins with out being greeted before putting in all the other tables orders. Food took about 40 mins to come out, and our appetizer came with our food instead of early like we asked. I would of been ok with the 40 min wait, but our food was lukewarm; borderline cold; and on top of that our server quit serving our table and began to avoid eye contact with us. He even went by to every other table but ours and told them that "their food will be out in about 5 mins" but couldn't do us the same courtesy. Me being a person who works in the service industry and loves his field of work; it was sad to see a server who could care less about his job, which is making sure the experience of the customer is smooth and great. Wish I could say they fixed it for us, but after refusing to eat the cold food we were only met with "We just reopened, and we are still just getting back into the swing of things" and "next time we will get you a better server." The "Cherry Creek" Benedict's hollandaise is really bland and runny. This food is barely better than I could make myself, no need to travel to unsafe downtown, or the basement of the cherry creek location. Also the service was not great, but I guess they are lazy too. The manager (at least i guess he was) never talked to a guest as far as I could tell. They are really full of themselves here, and it is nothing more than lazy, easy "middle of the road" food and service. wont be back. There was about a 20-minute wait for Syrup, but they had water available and there is plenty of seating outside the restaurant for those who are waiting.
