We were in the Folsom area and were craving some snacks and drinks. We looked to our favorite Yelp and found T&5 Cafe Bakery. This place looked to have snacks and it looked to have drinks. Perfect! This bakery is located in a small plaza. It was very windy that day, so I tried to park away from trees that day haha. Upon entering the bakery, I noticed it was a bit small. There were 3 tables against the right side of the wall and very near to the display case. While looking at the menu I was greeted by Mrs. Kong. She asked if it was our first time there. After finding out it was our first time there, she took the time to explain the process of getting pastries and also explained the pastries themselves. I let her know we didn't eat pork, so she pointed us to pastries that we can have. I greatly appreciated her taking the time to explain and recommend items we could have. After gathering a few pastries, we went on to figure out what hot items to order. Usually sui mai is made of pork, so when I saw they had chicken sui mai, we definitely had to get some. Mrs. Kong also recommended a Lava Bun. She said it was not on the menu, but it was a very good warm dessert. Both hot items were very good and highly recommended. The Lava Bun was not too sweet and the Chicken Sui Mai tasted very fresh. If Pastries and Hot items were not enough, we also ordered some drinks. We got the S5 - Mango Pomelo Sago and S11 - Coconut Water Kale Juice. Both drinks were very fresh. They put fresh fruit in the drinks, nothin artificial. You can see them make the drinks with the fresh fruit and you can most definitely taste that. When in the area, I highly recommend checking this place out. It is a bit pricier than other places, but you definitely get what you pay for. High quality ingredients that you can definitely taste! read more

This place is my new favorite spot. Dim Sum, beautiful baked goods both savory and sweet, cakes loaded with the freshest ingredients and to top it all off a massive variety of drinks and coffee options. All the sugary goodness in this bakery does not come close to the sweetness of the employees. They are so freaking kind, personable and downright lovable. This was out first stop in so we bought a few cookies, sweet buns, a savory pork bun (omgggg), a tea, shou mai, BBQ bao, and at the amazingly kind referral of the hostess - a Mango lava cake for my sons birthday that day. The service is 15 out of 10 stars. The food? Wow. The shou mai are massive, juicy and full of flavor. The BBQ buns are filled with savory meat and the bun itself is fresh and light. The bakery items were so fresh, light and flavor packed. The pork floss bread (forgot the name sorry!) Was SO GOOD. I will be stopping in to pick up more of those in the future. I hope the kind lady who recommended the cake reads this - it was perfect. The Mango and berries were crisp and fresh, so good! The cake breading was so light, not heavy or dense, absolutely perfect and the cream frosting wasn't too sweet. Everyone loved it and devoured the entire thing. I know I'm gushing but in this day and age we need to support one another and let the good be shouted out just as loud as anything bad. It was our first time here and it was a bit over whelming. We just came in for dessert but walked out with a bag of baked goods for tomorrow from lotus sticky rice to bbq pork baked buns (char sui Bao's) to other baked goods to go. They even have classic chocolate cookies! It's a cute little corner dessert shop. There is a couple of seats inside. There was 3 staff members tonight and 30 minutes before closing so quite a bit of bestsellers were gone. I was told their coconut slice bread is a popular item We ordered a strawberry matcha latte, a molten mango beverage & mango sago pomelo. You can taste the fresh fruit. They don't use powder flavors here, and only blend fresh fruit so prices are on the higher side. Staff was nice, felt a bit pressured to buy stuff that we probably wouldn't have normally purchased and ended up walking out $84 lighter after tip. I'll have to come back to try the egg tarts! We were craving some delicious Asian-style bakery goods when we came across T&5 on Yelp. After seeing the rave reviews (and dim sum offerings), we decided to check it out. The shop was quite cute. There are a lot of advertisements on the outside and inside there were baked goods, dim sum, and milk tea options on display. It could be a bit overwhelming to decide what to order. After a short team huddle, we ordered a coconut milk-mango DirtyTea T.9, an order of the Sticky Rice Dumplings D7, a Taro bread, a Chashiu Bread, and two egg custard tarts. We are happy to report that everything we ordered was delicious! The T9 Dirty Tea included coconut milk and Mango puree/chunks and mango popping boba, which was easy to drink and not too sweet. My boyfriend is a huge mango fan and he loved it. D7 included two medium-sized sticky rice balls, wrapped with clear chewy rice paper. It had a filling with sausage, meat, and egg yolk. It was yummy. Both the Taro and Chashiu buns tasted great as well. They were not overly sweet/salty, and the brioche-style bread was so satisfying to bite into. The egg tarts were really good as well. They had a buttery crust and creamy filling, which was satisfying. Overall, we were very impressed with T&5 and would like to try more of their drinks and dim sum options. I noticed there are not that many Asian bakeries and/or dim sum places around the greater Sacramento area yet, and think it's absolutely a treat to have such a little gem in Folsom. I'm so glad we stopped by this place while we were in Folsom! First off the inside of the shop is impeccably decorated. When we entered, we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff. We got Raisin Bread, croissant hot dogs, baked char siu baos, har gow, siu mai, a passion fruit tea with lychee and boba, some egg tarts, and a slice of their matcha cake! Everything tasted delicious, but i gotta give it a 10 / 10 for the boba drink, the egg tarts, and the matcha cake! First, their drink has fresh real bits of lychee and passion fruit (lilikoi) in it. The egg tarts had the perfect amount of char on it, which balanced the sweet flavor of the rest of it. And the matcha cake... well let's just say it didn't last more than 10 seconds (because it was so good). I never thought those banners that wander in the wind actually worked until I saw "Dim sum" waving to me yesterday in Folsom! I went in to find a cute shop with delicious baked items wrapped in cellophane and a bakery cafe containing even more items! This is a bakery chain and it was clean and really a pleasant slip to be in! We're decided to try a coconut almond pastry that was absolutely delicious. Fresh, generous with nuts and the perfect amount of custard cream. The other item we tried was a ham bun. It was very green and was generously filled with really tasty ham. Not lunch meat but authentic smoked ham, egg, cheese and green onion. This bun just worked! The cheese was more on the velvetta side of cheese. But it really worked well with the other ingredients and was definitely a repeatable item. I recommend this bakery for everyone to try! Items are fresh, bakery is clean. I wanted to love this bakery. We prefer Japanese and Asian style cakes over buttercream cakes. I've visited this bakery in the past and loved the Fairytale vibe. The Auntie at the counter was friendly and inviting. That time, I only came to purchase bread but the cakes in the display and in their ordering book caught my attention- they looked beautifully decorated. I made the decision to try one of their cakes for the next special occasion. I wondered why though, they didn't show the interior of the cake so you know what you're ordering/ buying. So, today, for Mother's Day, we decided to try their strawberry mousse "cake". We had a lunch planned and picked the cake up around 11:30. By the time we went to cut the "cake" it was 2:30. To our surprise the cake was completely frozen. The biggest surprise was that the "cake" had only about 5% cake, the rest is an artificial tasting "mousse" reminiscent of the 80's rainbow jello molds. You can taste and feel the gelatin in the mousse. For an almost $60 dollar 8" cake, this was a huge disappointment. I hope their other cakes are much better. I'm writing this review for others who think they're buying a traditional mousse cake to know what to expect- typically layers of cake with mousse in between the layers of cake. This is not what we received. Also, know that our cake was frozen and the strawberries inside the cake frozen solid to the point it could not be chewed. Plan in advance and leave it at room temp for several hours or leave in the frig overnight to reach the proper temp and consistency to consume. They should have given instructions when we picked it up. We assumed it was a freshly made cake. It was not. The strawberries on top looked old and weren't glazed, the look of the decorating was not what I expected from T&5 considering their books and pictures online were much more professional than what we picked up today. I know bakeries often freeze cake layers but to freeze an entire cake and to not defrost them by the day of sale is disappointing. Highly dissatisfied, the cake is subpar and will go uneaten. Wasted $65. Didn't have the delicious and fairytale cake we wanted to give our mom on Mother's Day. We also purchased two sliced cakes to "test" for possible future orders - these were also frozen. Of these two, only the raspberry cheesecake was good. The chocolate one tasted bitter and lacked any sweetness. Yes, we prefer Japanese and other Asian cakes because they are considerably less sweet than our American deserts (lightly sweetened whipped cream based frosting). But the chocolate sliced cake we bought seemed like they forgot the sugar completely. Such a beautiful store and beautifully decorated cakes, normally. Maybe it was just an off day and this wasn't their normal standard. I might give them a second chance in the future... and ask for specifics when purchasing. read more

Bakery that also serves Dim Sum [Folsom CA] Is it crazy that I've visited this bakery 3 different times just this weekend alone? This location in Folsom is some 20 miles from my home and on a good day the drive could be 30+ mins (depending on traffic). The interior is super cute and eye-catching. The breads and pastries were organized on one side. Although the selection was not as much as its local counterparts it had good enough variety. I grabbed one each of the Garlic Bun, Cinnamon Roll, and the Pineapple Bun. The latter actually had bits of pineapple in them (unlike the pineapple buns I get from San Francisco). I wasn't thrilled with pineapple in the bread. I know in SF Chinatown that there aren't actually any pineapple in pineapple buns. The top of the bun just resembles the outer part of a pineapple, but it doesn't actually contain any in it. It's still delicious though but not the pineapple pieces. LoL I also ordered Shrimp Dumplings (4-pcs) and Xiao Long Bao (7-pcs). I was told that the wait would be 10-15 mins. I didn't mind. I was in no rush. I waited outside their outdoor patio table seating. No seating inside the shop. When my order was brought out to me they were piping hot and I couldn't wait to dig in. Both dim sum orders were very good. Came back today to try their regular Egg Custard and the Portuguese Custard Tarts, two orders of Pork Shiu Mai and Sticky Rice Dumplings... and got more pastries.
