We wondered in off of Dauphin Street looking for a drink before going to diner. The atmosphere, bartender and manager were so friendly we ordered dinner at the bar. It made for a very enjoyable evening and a great meal. read more

The fried shrimp were great. Well seasoned with a light crispy batter. The baked potatoes were not very hot. They brought me the small container of sour cream and one (1) slice of butter. When I asked for extra butter, I received one (1) more slice of butter. I told the waiter that needed more butter, and he asked how much did I need as if two (2) slices was way more than enough. I have never gone to a restaurant and received a paltry amount of butter to season my potato. Our waitress REALLY needs some training. My sister asked her to suggest an item from the menu and the waitress said, "I can't tell you how anything taste. Love this place! It has a wonderful location, just a block from Cathedral Square in Downtown Mobile. The ambiance is relaxing but it is always bustling with people. I have never posted a restaurant review. My first visit to TP Crockmiers on Dauphin Street will be my last. On Saturday February 2, 2013 seven ladies and myself were out celebrating a birthday. There were several large groups having dinner. We had a nice dinner, the atmosphere was nice, food was good and we were just having a nice time when all of a sudden the night turned sour. As we were waiting for the waitress to return with our change and credit cards the owner (same description as previous customer described) came over to our table and said you all have been here long enough and it time for you to leave. He spoke very loud, rudely and harshly to us the surrounding tables heard him. When we asked why we were being asked to leave he stated there was a 90 min time limit. He did not ask any of the other parties to leave which had been there as long as we had been sitting there. When we advised him one the ladies had just received her meal, he stated she could move to empty table for four or get her food to go as he said good bye waving his hand to us. He then walked away to the cash register where he stood and stared at us while we waited for the waitress to return. A lady from one table asked was he serious when someone in our party replied yes she said he didn't ask us to leave we been a long time too. Another lady from a different table said Oh my God! That was so rude! We were not rude or disrespectful to him in any way because we were so shocked, embarrassed and humiliated at the treatment we proceeded to put the cake in the box and waited for the waitress to return. When she returned she apologized for his attitude and ask that his behavior not be a reflection of her service. However, she was very courteous, apologetic and continued to say to each of us she was very sorry for the incident. Also, the owner's wife who was very nice visited our table on an occasion inquiring about the cake which she accepted a piece of cake when offered to her. We are all very mature, professional women such as nurses, real estate agent, social workers, and military personnel. This treatment was very humiliating and embarrassing to us. We waited several minutes no other customer was asked to leave. I am African American and needless to say we were the only African Americans in the restaurant at this time. A few of the ladies have visited there before during lunch and dinner. We also visit several restaurants around town and have never been asked to leave or have been treated this way. I will never patronize this restaurant again; I agree there are too many nice restaurants in Mobile that appreciate their customers, especially when each of our bills were $30 or more per person. Perhaps the owner should not drink during business hours, just a thought. read more

New to town and trying new things. My wife and I came here and were not disappointed. To start, the bartender Trey was amazing. He was very funny and good at what he does. I have to say he is one of the best bartenders I have ever had. All the food he recommended was amazing that we ordered. Can't go wrong with the seafood here. I especially enjoyed the triple crab dinner. Definitely recommend sitting at the bar when Trey is there. read more

We came downtown for a concert at the Saenger Theatre & this restaurant is nearby, so an easy choice. We arrived early (around 5PM) and the service was very disorganized. Lots of people were just standing and waiting right inside the door. There were MANY empty tables. The TVs were blaring a football game. As soon as the waiter (James) came to the table we asked about the noise level of the TVs. He stated that they had just started getting busy and that the bartender was "half-deaf" and he wanted to listen to the ballgame. He said that he would ask them to turn down the sound. We asked if it was quieter upstairs and he said it was not, which we later discovered was just a blatant lie. We ordered drinks and about 15 minutes later the drinks came. The noise from the dozens of televisions was still deafening, almost painful. We asked again if the sound could be turned down so we could enjoy our meal. Another couple came in and were seated at the table next to ours. James came to take their order and immediately they too asked about the noise. He told them that he had already asked the bartender to turn it down and was unsuccessful. They asked to be seated upstairs, grabbed their belongings and walked up the stairs. I went upstairs to check and there was virtually NO noise from the TVs. I don't know what James' problem was, guess he didn't want to lose a table/or be bothered to have to walk up the stairs to wait on us. Well, when he arrived with the food, we stood up and informed him that we would be sitting upstairs so we could actually hear each other speak. We were seated upstairs and ate our meal (which was mediocre at best). When we left around 6:15 the sound had been turned down very low on the TVs - imagine that. Incredibly poor management-letting the workers run the "asylum" and ruin the dining experience for patrons. Maybe they need to hire real managers and employees who actually give a sh*t. We will find someplace else to eat next time we go to Mobile for a concert. This was the first time (here or abroad) in 35 years of dining out that we refused to leave any kind of tip for the server!! read more

Had a reservation for a family lunch for my grandparents 65th wedding anniversary. The guy taking our order was very nice but the food was horrible and over priced. My son ordered pancakes and when the food was being brought out to everyone the server told us they were out of pancakes. So now every one has their food except my 10yr old and had to reorder. He finally got his food as everyone else was done and ready to go. Another one in our group the server told him that they forgot about his order and then brought it out when everyone was getting their checks. Server asked if he wanted a to go box. Oh no he did not want a Togo order he wanted to eat with everyone else. Will never go back there read more

Food was not good at all and was very over priced. Didn't notice the prices at first because things are often priced higher downtown, but I realized after getting the food how ridiculous the price was for what you actually receive. Did not receive my food the way I asked for it to be prepared. I was told by my server that this was because the people in the kitchen were a bunch of very old and rude family members. Server was very unprofessional and very slow to attend to any needs, though there was hardly anyone in the restaurant upon arrival. Left very unsatisfied. Will never go back. read more

Went tonight with two others specifically for the French Onion soup and a salad. We all ordered the soup and a different salad each. It took a long time for the soup to arrive and when it did, it wasn't as hot as expected and there was no toasted bread under the cheese! If French Onion soup is one of their specialties, it really needs some work. My spinach salad was disappointing also. The tomatoes were mushy and the hot bacon dressing that our server recommended was a globby cup of....I don't know what. The food was ok. Nothing special. The atmosphere was very dead yet the staff seemed bothered, overwhelmed, or tired. No one greeted us at the door we seated ourselves and had to get our own menus before anyone waited on us. I ordered buffalo wings and got served fried chicken wings with no buffalo sauce. The food was ok. The tuna dip was really good, however not served with any bread pieces to dip, which was odd. The thing that really made this experience downright miserable was the bartender, Jack. This guy was an absolute mess. He talked crap about fellow employees, management, patrons, random inanimate objects etc. He was extremely inefficient and would not take orders without being asked and made sure you were aware of what an inconvenience you were to him by slamming things and mumbling complaints. And it seems that this is a prevalent issue with all staff members so if you would like to be made to feel extremely uncomfortable while overpaying for mediocre food then this may be the place for you. read more

I can not say enough good things about Crockmiers! They were a joy to work when I was planning an after rehearsal dinner. I was doing the planning long distance which made things very challenging. I was blown away by the service and helped I received by Mike Manley and his staff! They were never to busy to answer questions even when I thought about changing the menu the week of the dinner. Mary Monahan patiently worked me through my concerns and I ended up relying on her expertise. Boy was I glad I listened to her! She was spot on about the amount of food needed! She even estimated the amount of alcohol that was likely to be consumed so that I could accurately budget for my party. I have never had so many compliments about how good the food tasted! I had several go back for third and fourth helpings because they said it tasted so good! The chilled shrimp was a big hit but the shrimp and grits and smoked pork got the most accolades. The s'mores bar was also popular and became a gathering point! If you are planning a party, I strongly recommend Crockmiers! read more

LOVE THIS PLACE !! First off, the place is beautiful. I can't believe there is a bar/restaurant this nice in Mobile ! I had been to the old location on Florida Street many times over the years and loved it as well. The food is exactly the same...delicious. They have THE best Reuben sandwich in town. It is one of the FEW places in Mobile that ANYBODY can go to and be treated like a regular. I totally get why people rave about this place. Some of the other places downtown are like " Here's your beer, where's my tip" These people are really friendly. I watched a young kid, a busboy I think, hold the door open for and elderly couple that was going to the symphony.......Who Does that??? I am not sure where some of these bad reviews came from. Some places get busy and things take a while that's kind of a given but I love the atmosphere and the food. I have taken several "out of towners" there also on business and have yet to be disappointed . HIGHLY Recommend! read more
