Juan at Tabasco's is the main reason we went back about ten times. He is so kind and such a hard worker. He was working ridiculous hours all through FOUR cruise ships in one day and only takes one day off per week. There is an older gentleman that was a little weird w my teen girls. The food was mediocre. But the drinks were really good, even the ones with no alcohol. We had a white russian, bloody marys, strawberry margaritas, all were very good. The water was $10 for 3 bottles I could have gotten from Walmart five minutes away 10 for $3. But whatever. My girls were thirsty. Fantastic location right on the beach. Breakfast was ok(omelette, eggs, the usual), but the flour tortillas were home made and DELICIOUS and honestly made the meal. We had 2 michelada beers and 2 omelettes so I was a bit surprised when it came out to $26 USD. A bit expensive, but I guess that's why they are on the beach. The ones we've been to on the beach at Puerta Vallarta were so much better and cheaper. Do not support this business! Not friendly towards elderly! My mom had to go to the bathroom in the middle of our beach stroll and the resort was a bit far from where we were and this joint was the nearest and no public toilet was in sight. She went to use the bathroom without noticing the sign that says "80 pesos for the bathroom" and the manager followed her and demanded 80 pesos without offering any service. I get that lot of people might take advantage of the bathroom if they don't charge for it but the fact that an elderly manager does not have a sympathy towards an elderly tourist who clearly needed to go the bathroom tells a lot about the management. You're operating in a tourist area where people do need to go the bathroom. And thanks to those tourists, you have a business, remember that! read more

I'm writing this purely from a cheap tourist perspective, and am coming from the expensive prices in NYC, so keep that in mind as you progress... Tabasco is an inexpensive beach spot on the eastern side of the Playa el Medano beach resorts. There is a lot of beach further east, but this is one of the last spots to grab a beachside beer and bite. After walking past all of length the fancier, louder, more party-centric beachside spots, we came across this little gem which is cheaper, quieter, and (probably) tastier than the others too. We came for two beers and some chips/guac, ended up staying and getting 8 beers, chips/guac, and two orders of 3 delicious tacos. All-in-all, the total was about $35, a pretty good deal. (I know, I know, some people see that price and think it is expensive for MX, but the same order in NYC would be over $100, so I was very happy) Halfway during our meal, my wife decided to visit one of the massage stands which are conveniently next door. $20 and 1 hour later, she returned and I was still chilling under the shaded umbrella, drinking beer and enjoying the views far away from the trance music blasting up the beach. I'd come back to Tabasco again as it was one of the only relaxing places on an otherwise party-centric beach front. Cold beer, good food, great view, good prices. read more

If you love tacos then this is the place! This place is located right in the middle of Medano beach and has really beautiful views. Drinks were 2 for 1 and the tacos were my favorite our entire visit... We ordered beers, daiquiris, a couple shots of tequila, and the marinated steak tacos! The tacos were so good we ordered a 3rd order to split. I could have eaten 5 more. I wish we would have come back to try the breakfast because the menu looked great! The pico that came with the tacos was fresh and had so much flavor that I requested some chips to make sure I got it all. The service was fast and friendly. DOV: 12/10/2016: Hola Amigo from San Jose California ;) This restaurant is located right in the heart of Medano beach with splendid views of the beach, para-sailors, camping tents, kabanas, beach chairs, open-air massage parlors everything fancy you can think of on the beach. Me and hubs sat down and were requested by our server to not interact with the hawkers while on the restaurant premises -Quite genuine- I ordered chicken tacos and hubs ordered Shrimp cocktail that he was wanting for quite some time. We also got the pinacolada. Hubs felt it was quite sweet but everything sweet is everything I can fall for :) I loved it. The chicken tacos were one of the best we had in mexico and hubs enjoyed his shrimp cocktail till the last bite. We ate here on vacation and had the best experience. My family went fishing that morning and we brought our fish to dinner, they blackened it and grilled it. It was one of the best meals of our trip. It IS Mexico and that seems to be the way you get "a beer" around these parts, and almost always 2 for 1 (or better). BREAKFAST!!! Chorizo breakfast burrito, yum! It's just so easy here and not as crowded or crazy as some of the other places dribbled along the tideline. Service is pretty great too, rarely have I been unimpressed. Been here dozens of times 'cuz I live next door at Cascadas 2 weeks every winter. The food, pretty basic beach cuisine. Which means do not have high expectations, it's American road diner food Mexican style. Guy Fieri would be right at home here. The staff aim to accommodate. Though they are always in high speed mode, they tend to rush the clients. They all speak English. If you can make jokes in colloquial Spanish, you'll win your waiter over for extra consideration. Maybe he'll throw you a small freebie. Prices compared to a 5 star resort restaurant are low, but you're still in a gringo vacation paradise. Expect to pay 3X - 4X what natives pay for a meal on their home turf. Yes, drinks are priced 2 for 1. So what, you can buy beer at the Oxxo for 70% less. read more

We tried the Mexicana and the Pepperoni and they were both delicious. The kids had chicken enchiladas with green sauce and steak tacos with flour tortillas. I hate to write bad reviews, i really do. Our experience here was great, i mean really great. Cheap beers, shaded tables and great service from our waiter. We nursed our beers and must have spent a good 3-4 hours there just drinking the day away at the beach. They never hassled us once. 4 hours of 70's disco music was starting to wear on me though. So my wife decided it was time to reapply some sun block so she took off her wedding ring and set it on the table. I mean, who wants hardened sun block gunk in all the nooks & crannies of their prized wedding ring? FYI, it was a silver band with a blue sapphire taking center stage. We paid our bill ( we tip above and beyond while in Mexico) and unbeknownst to me, i had no clue about the wedding ring being accidentally left behind on the table. We left and it wasnt until about 20 minutes later my wife made the horrible realization that she did not have her ring on! We literally hustled back there as fast as we could. The terrible part is our waiter played dumb about the whole thing to the point of claiming to vaguely remember us from 20 minutes ago. Dude, we spent 4 hours there and you waited on us acting like our best friend - taking our money the whole time. He wouldnt even look me in the eye. When asked about the ring, he was no help. Useless and didnt lift a finger to help to the point of turning his back to us. Out of desperation i approached the party of 6 at our former table and asked if anyone had seen a lost wedding ring. Literally all 6 people got up immediately and dropped to their knees trying to help find it in the sand while my poor wife was in tears. They were all so helpful and did not want to stop until it was found. If the ring was in the sand, it would have been found within 5 minutes as we were all laser beam focused and incredibly thorough in our search and rescue attempt. Our waiter wanted nothing to do with us and i literally had to go track him down to question him. It dawned on me that our waiter had to have found it as he alone cleared the table and removed the umbrellas since we had left. It just stands to reason... I was so close to making him empty his pockets then and there to prove otherwise. I realize the mistake was on our part but this person was zero help and super shady about it. Enjoy your fortune. Just remember, what goes around comes around. I still hold faith in the goodness of humanity despite the one guy who could of taken charge of the situation. He had multiple times to do the right thing and did nothing. At least pretend like you care. It costs nothing. Reward if found. The ring has tremendous sentimental value. read more

We experienced dinner at Tabsco's tonight. Our table was near the edge of the ocean with sparkling views of the ocean dotted with yachts and other boats. The wait staff was very attentative and accommodating. We ordered breaded sea bass with vege's and rice. Our meal was delicious!!! The Flan was also very tasty.
