Today was my first time eating here and we drove all the way from Oxnard. There was a large party of 13 that had just arrived before us and the manager was very nice and transparent and told us it might be a short wait. He said another group was leaving soon and kept checking in on us with updates. He even asked if we wanted anything to drink or an appetizer during our wait. We were appreciative but declined as we didn't mind waiting. We sat down and they were thankful for our patience and started taking our order right away. Another group who arrived after us sat down shortly after and right away I could here the woman complaining about being seated after us even though we arrived before and chose to wait on the patio. She asked the manager what his name was and told him she was going to write a bad review before she even ordered. She asked his name twice and how to spell it. His name was ..........Ben. Not a hard name to spell which shows how smart this woman was. He was still so nice to her and didn't show any frustration. When they received their rice the son who looked about 12 asked if they served them in dirty bowls that other customers ate out of. He said no they only served 3 bowls and your party ordered 4 so I served new rice so it would all come out at the same time. The boy said I want new rice in different bowls. I couldn't believe how rude these people were. When our awesome waitress Kayla asked if she could get anything else for us I said yes new neighbors. It's a shame that people act like that when people are working hard and trying to give you a good experience. Other than our annoying neighbors the food and the service was amazing and we will definitely be going back. My 14 year old daughter who has manners but is usually picky loved it. Soooooo gooooood! We arrived around 6 on a Saturday and got on the waitlist/sign in as we entered- (recommend reserving your spot thru Yelp cause we didn't lol). Our group of 3 waited over an hour, but we started a tab of drinks while waiting so it wasn't bad at all. Waiting room is some stools and then standing, but they have TVs and the environment is fun so it goes by fast. Food is amazing, staff is friendly and is knowledgeable about what to do(I had no idea what I was doing so I needed help) Leticia was our server and helped me out with how to season the proteins and the broth. I really liked the U-shaped bar-like eating area. It feels friendly and more community. Also, I liked their counter space. I had room for my plates while the individual hotpot was just in the right place. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and comfortable. Being that it was our first time there, the menu was easy to read and to figure out on how to order. For protein, we ordered grass-fed beef and free-range chicken. So glad to have those options!!!! It was one of the reasons why we chose it and we would go back there again. I liked the kale ramen, too. Where do they get those?! Oh, and the staff there are friendly. We are so happy to have found this place! Finally, we have a shabu shabu place close by! Let me start by saying thank you to the owners Jeremy and Ynnah (sorry if I spelled it wrong). They are very nice and personable to their customers. They have great staff. We just felt good vibes right when we walked in! Even the lady in the kitchen is so nice and all smiling. I like that where we were, we can actually see the kitchen a little bit. It's clean and organized. Everybody will make sure that everything is ok. They explain everything. They are proactive! We left with happy tummy! Food coma! LOL! We had the spicy miso angus and tonkatsu wagyu. Both are soooooo good!!! It also came with a good amount of veggies on the side. My husband and I were saying that for the price of it, it's really worth it! This is the first time we tried this place and definitely it's not gonna be the last. This business will go a long way with the right people on board, which I believe they already have. They just opened a couple of weeks ago but it looks like they're getting pretty busy which is good! This was our first time here, what a unique fun experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful, added to the ambiance. The Food was excellent. Having been here for the first time made it a new experience. Each person gets their own hot pot. You have a choice of 4 kinds of broth to start your pot, then select your protein. Protein choices include beef, wagyu, chicken, pork, lamb, shrimp, and then either white or brown rice, and a selection of ramen or udon. The server brings each person their own plate of very fresh asian vegetables, including a selection or fresh mushrooms (enoki, shiitake, etc.) napa cabbage, bok choy, spinach, carrots, etc.Then you can create your own shabu. Very fun. Yes you get to play with your food. You can add sauces, and new flavors. Daikon radish, green onion, garlic, hot chilli oils, sesame sauces, etc., the new flavors are endless. Once your done, you get to take you leftover soup home, which is plenty for the next day. Drink assortment excellent. We will definitely come again. We all loved it. Thank you. read more

Excellent experience! I've had Shabu Shabu only a couple of times and this was by far the best experience. Everything was so fresh and the meat was very flavorful. Our server was also very helpful in guiding us on how long to cook things and how to best enjoy our meal. The staff is very friendly and always checked in to see if we needed anything. They have only been open a month so the wait list situation was a bit disorganized. No big deal though, they will work it out. This is a hidden gem so give it try. read more

Really good! I've been to several shabu places around the Torrance area and Orange County - this is one of the better ones. I had the Tonkotsu pork broth with the pork meat (and probably a whole side of garlic, green onion, and a bit of soy sauce). This was probably the tastiest broth I've had. Not a big fan of the goma sauce, maybe too much miso in it for me. Can't give 5 stars because they didn't give me ponzu sauce or offer the hot drops. read more

A great option to save us a trip to DTLA for Shabu. We really enjoyed our meal and we left quite satisfied. The Yuzu sauce was legit. They are still struggling a little with start-up, service was a bit wobbly but you could tell they are trying and the owner(?) did come by to take a moment to ask how our experience was and warmly accept some feedback, which indicates to me that they'll work it out. The vegetables were fresh and the meat, while maybe a bit smaller in portion than you would get at a traditional Shabu in Japan Town was flavorful as well. We'll definitely be back, just hoping to see them get the rice perfected (which we know can be tricky)! read more

This place is the newest hidden gem in conejo valley! The service is always excellent and the food is delicious. It's so fun to make your own hot pot and season it exactly the way you want it. My husband and I are both vegetarians and love all the veggies that are included! It's definitely enough to fill you up beyond capacity. You even have the option of taking your soup home for another meal since there's so much! There was a little bit of a wait on a Saturday night but you can sign in on the iPad and get a text when your table is ready. Super easy. Such a fun date night! read more

We have been patiently waiting for this place to open and they did not disappoint! Today was their soft opening and the staff kept apologizing saying that they weren't ready for so many people. In my opinion, they did superb and had no reason to apologize. EVERYTHING was delicious and the friendly owners/staff made it such a pleasant experience. I meant to take pictures of the food but it was so delicious we practically inhaled it. I HIGHLY recommend the chicken potstickers. They are delicious and the crunchy garlic sauce that they come with is phenomenal. It was so great that we ordered a second round even though we were already pretty full. They also have healthy options such as veggie noodles and brown rice which cane with my salmon and grass fed ribeye combo alongside veggies. I'm looking forward to going again soon. I hope they can get highchairs before then because it was a little difficult eating with baby on our lap but we managed. read more

This was a very interactive & fun dinner. Think make your own fresh ramen soup with certain fixing you've picked from their menu. We had no idea what we were doing, but the staff was helpful in explaining the menu & cooking process. You DO cook your own food. If this is your first experience with shabu shabu then you may enjoy the overall experience. If you're familiar with LA food then this was awful. I got the tonkatsu broth which is typically very flavorful. The broth I had did not have any flavor at all. While shabu shabu traditional broth doesn't have much flavor, I expected some with the tonkatsu broth. Aside from a flavorless experience, our server kept pushing us to "split" an order because it was easier, but I didn't want rice or vegetables (which is why you would split +$6 charge). I went for dinner for the first time tonight with my husband and we were excited to try this place. I was shown where to sit by the hostess as I was happy to see there was an empty chair between every couple (it's a bar setup) to respect social distancing. The waitress accommodated us between two couples, with one empty chair at each side of me any my husband to follow Covid guidelines. After a couple of minutes another waitress showed up and asked us to move right next to another couple. No chair in between. Surprised, we asked the waitress why we couldn't keep one chair between like anyone else in Rene restaurant. We were told that in case someone else showed up, they needed the space. When we inquired about why every other couple in the restaurant was separated by an empty seat, the manager showed up and rudely replied that the restaurant doesn't follow social distancing. We were shocked. Why then everyone else was socially distanced? I can't explain why we were treated differently. We left and will never get back. I will report this restaurant to the proper authority. read more

First if all, the food is fresh. This place is loud, probably due to its interior design. Customers cannot control the temperature of their own hot plates, which is strange. And the hot plate is kind of far away from customers, and this makes it inconvenient. The service is okay, but the price for the food does seem a little over priced to me. read more

Loved this! I live within walking distance and I think this is going to be a regular for us! I felt the portions were large and I could only eat about half and I took the rest home. You probably get your daily requirements of vegetables by just having one meal at this place! I chose to have chicken as my protein but next time I will try a beef option and possibly the scallops or shrimp. Also next time I'll bring my own to go container as they only have plastic or Styrofoam. I wish they had cardboard! I am editing my post to comment on my second visit. Jordan was our server and he was delightful. We did opt for the Japanese risotto with our leftovers and it was just as delicious if not more than the original meal! For five dollars more they create this amazing porridge for you using rice and egg and your leftovers. They add chili oil and special seasonings and it is so delicious and another meal or two to eat the next day. I think the best thing about this place besides everything being delicious and the experience being fun and out of the ordinary, is the fact that it's dairy free and it can be gluten free as well as vegan. There's really nothing like it in the Conejo. It starts to slow down around 7:45 or eight so I highly recommend if you don't want to wait for seats either go right at 5 o'clock when they open or at 7:30. also Tuesday night is buy one get one free on alcoholic drinks. read more

We ate here last week and could not have been more pleased. The staff was awesome. Super helpful, super friendly, and made some great recommendations. We started off with the sea salt truffle edamame and seaweed salad. My husband loved how fresh the salad was. The spicy miso was very spicy...hotter than we like but really flavorful. We made porridge out of our leftovers and ate it for dinner the next night. It was sooooo good. I had the sukiyaki with the shrimp....LOVED IT. Took home the leftovers as soup. We ordered 2 dinners but ended up with 6 meals. So good we are going back tonight with friends! We took some friends with us tonight. Another great meal! They remembered us from last week and were happy we brought our friends to try something new. Ryan was as friendly as last time. Leticia could not be any more helpful or sweet. She explained the menu to our friends and made some great suggestions. Our food came out fast and was sooooo delicious. We opted for the porridge with our leftovers. Be prepared to wait a bit if you come in a prime time. We waited over an hour on Saturday Night. It was worth it! There are only about 30 seats in the place. So there's not a lot of room. But an inordinately high number of servers per guest. The staff are Perfectly attentive, and the recommendation were spot on! Also if you're stuck waiting for a bit they'll start you a tab and grab you a drink. Seriously try the short-rib with sukiyaki and the egg! It'll change your life. Also, at the end get the porridge. They take your leftover broth and combine it with rice and more deliciousness. Seriously one of the best flavors I have ever experienced The place is a bit pricey. With drinks, apps, meals, and tip it was about $150 for 3 of us. But we left stuffed and very satisfied. It's all high-top counters, no tables. not great for big groups as you all sit in a line. We were looking for some udon and we certainly found our share here! We were new to the hot pot experience and mentioned as much to our server. Unfortunately he assumed we knew more than we did however he was very patient in responding to our questions. I would have preferred a couple of "you should try.." or "if you like spicy, try..." but all of those worries melted away with the aroma of the bases we picked and the trays that were brought with our chosen guesses. Spicy miso is like putting a tablespoon of sriracha in a typical less than robust miso. The pork soup base was one bullion cube short of flavor. As the guest next to me, who was dismayed by the new experience and "boiled dinner" suggested, I tumbled in all of the accompanying radish, the sauce that came with the dumplings and a little shake of the other spicy offerings: kimchi spice, chili oil, etc. We asked for our dishes to be made into soup so after a quick boil, our server masterfully poured our design into a gorge of a bowl and we began to slurp away! The atmosphere is lively but quaint. The staff is friendly and approachable. All of the food coming out of the kitchen looked fresh and appetizing. My recommendation: take your time. This shouldn't be a 20 minute sit and go. The flavors take time to meld together. Our next day leftovers have us going back for more next week!! read more

This place is excellent! We are big fans of Shabu Shabu and we are so excited that a delicious one moved to our neighborhood. All of the ingredients are fresh and they allow you to tailor your veggies to your liking-- something I've never experience at shabu shabu. The broth we like the best is the pork based broth-- always add chili oil and powder to it as well as garlic and green onions. We get prime beef for our protein.. The soup you can make at the end with udon or other noodles is also awesome. This is my hubby and my new favorite restaurant for date night in town next time we want to try the porridge read more

Wow! Legit shabu shabu out this way. All counter top seating with separate and individual heating so you can each have your own soup base. Plenty of choices on veggies and meats. Super friendly service, very clean, and great tasting on top of it all. Would highly recommend. It's as good as going to Little Tokyo. read more
