Really good take on tacos and run by super nice ladies. The place is simple in terms of food, and design. I tried the ground beef and shredded chicken. They were both very good and the the meat portions were very generous. The tortilla is not a hard shell but lightly fried and golden. They come with diced tomato, some sauce and shredded cheese and lettuce. You can choose chips or their homemade fries. The fries are also really good. And the people are great and they love getting feedback and are super gracious. read more

Delicious!!!! I had the shredded chicken tacos and home fries and it was a good choice. The chicken is well seasoned and the homemade taco sauce made it POP! The menu is short and to the point so no need in stressing over selections, there's only 4 (ground beef, ground turkey, shredded chicken and veggie). It's plenty of times when I don't feel cooking and I want a homemade taco. Black people clearly cook tacos differently from other races. Just finished eating our order - first time trying out the Taco Bar. I guess my whole review can be summed up by my 6 year old's comment when she finished: "My taco was good, the fries were good and the drink was good. Everything was super duper good. I loved it!" This is coming from the girl who majorly protested going to eat tacos only moments before we arrived and also doesn't usually like to eat french fries, not even from McDonalds. She ordered the kids meal that came with one chicken taco (with all toppings that come on it), fries and she picked a grape Crush soda for her drink- all for $5. I rarely write reviews, but my husband and I have been looking for a taco place that makes tacos the way we make them at home, with a crispy shell, fresh GREEN leaf lettuce, fresh tomatoes and cheese! My husband ordered the 6 taco combo and it was pretty much exactly how we like it at home! CRISPY, CRUNCHY fried tacos shells....cooked to perfect. This alone made it 5 stars for me, because when you are looking to fulfill a craving, and you don't get it, it's a waste! The wait is a little bit longer than the suggested 15minutes when it's busy...and I expect this place to be busy all the time...AND again, I got EXACTLY what I ordered! So I can be patient knowing it's gonna be just what I want. (I do not eat onions, and none could be found in any of the 6 tacos we ordered). They will get no complaint from me on this point! Finally, and this point is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to me: The customer service was ON POINT! You are treated with the utmost hospitality here. You feel appreciated at the Taco Bar for patronizing their business. They are gracious and welcoming...and we will definitely be back! I am excited to try their other options, nervous because I am a picky eater and have some food allergies, but excited nonetheless! Had higher hopes. First visit and ordered 2 beef tacos. Some of the previous reviews use the word crispy in their review, there was nothing crispy about the tacos I had. They were greasy warmed tortillas. Next is the meat, ground beef with what tastes like store bought taco mix in it, boring. The rest of the filling was shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheddar and some salsa. Ehh. Nice people, strange restaurant store front with no seating. My morning runs open my world up to all sorts of places I miss when driving. I had seen some press about them a day or so before, so as I passed by, I noticed their door was open even though it was before business hours. I spoke to one of the guys who was working on the build out and got a friendly vibe overall. I returned soon after they opened. The women working were friendly and efficient. Within 5 minutes I was sitting outside enjoying 2 crisp shelled, "just the right amount of greasy" beef tacos, with crunchy, fresh vegetables, cool sour cream and ample cheese. I was transported back to good memories of taco nights as done by my Italian-American mom and school lunch tacos, but these were much, much, much better. read more

This little (and I mean little) family run taco stand makes a really delicious, old school, hard shell taco. I was blown away by the food! It was delicious and plentiful for the price. Everything was well seasoned and to have the choice of french fries or chips and salsa is unheard of. Both the fries and salsa were good, I went with friends and everyone got something different so we could sample everything. Truly well done. I've been twice in 1 week and the location is about 8 miles from my house. Anytime I'm in the neighborhood and hungry I will be stopping by! The service was great and they were very efficient. I had eyeing this place for a while and finally checked it out over the weekend. If you ever ventured to a place called Chris Burger, which has been gone for 20 years or better, they had a delicious, greasy cheese and veggie filled taco to die for. My first bite of Taco Bar's taco had me reminincing back to the day to where you waited on your food like to old days of Fatburger on Western. Good greasy goodness. We saw the article on Eater about this place opening so we wanted to give it a shot. The place looks cool from the outside, but when you step inside it is very uninviting. The wood wall blocks the whole front - it feels more like walking into a weed dispensary than it does a taco joint. It honestly projects that the neighborhood is much worse than it actually is. Despite that, the staff is very friendly, unfortunately the food is more like what you would make at home on a work night than a taco joint. We ordered chicken tacos and beef tacos. Both took 15 minutes to be made despite no other customers being around. We also ordered chips and salsa as our sides instead of French fries. The chips where tostitos scoops - which are fine, but not what I expect from a taco stand/restaurant. The beef tasted like it was seasoned with Lawry's taco seasoning packets. Everything about the tacos screamed worknight meal prepped at home - where you are short on time and cut corners to make some food. Nothing tasted bad, but also nothing was worth eating out. The team was so nice, I hope that they adapt their food otherwise I would be concerned the business will not survive in LA's competitive taco market. read more
