I used to like this location, but lately it's really gotten to where it's just not worth it to get anything here, the prices have kept going up, and the quality keeps going down. The only time I eat at this place is late night coming home from the bar. It's kind of a staple. Some of my favorite items are the bean and cheese burrito with green chile and the huevos rancheros. Their nachos are pretty good, too. So if you're in the mood for some processed, greasy food...TC fits the bill. The prices are pretty decent and the food is tasty. The fact that they are open all night is even better. That being said..there are way too many awesome restaurants in ABQ for me to even think about going there while sober. Let me start by saying Chipotle is probably one of my favorite simple places to go for Mexican food. I love getting my steak bowl when I go there. So when I came here I had really high expectations when my friend suggested getting their bowl. Let's just say I'd probably be a regular here if I lived in Albuquerque! lol Everything was so fresh here it was amazing! I ordered a Carne Adovada bowl. It comes in either a bowl or a crispy shell. Your choice. I added sour cream, cheese, corn, guacamole, and rice. The meat was soooo tender that it was delicious. It was literally so good that I had to force myself to keep eating even though I was so full because I didn't want to waste it. lol Chipotle will always have my heart, but this place would seriously be in trouble if I lived in Albuquerque because I would pretty much be dining there for breakfast lunch and dinner. =P read more

We have always had a good experience at this Taco Cabana. This restaurant is CLEAN! Staff is friendly and helpful and accommodating. Food is great - the beef taco salad is full of the "good stuff" and not just lettuce. My husband gets the asada platter and is very pleased. OMG Taco Cabana gets me... I was craving tacos at like 9am and was like "Wow people are going to judge me for wanting tacos this early in the morning. What if I go to Taco Cabana and it's closed and they see my trying to open the door and they're like 'chill girl it's not even lunch yet!'" Went there for the first time today to get my parents and I lunch. I got 3 chicken fajita burritos and the little sopapillas and honey for dessert. I have to say that this was the worse burrito I've ever had in my entire life!!! Let me just say that out of 3 burritos no one finished it with one having only 1 bite out of it. First off there was hardly any meat in the burritos. I felt like I got a lettuce and rice burrito with a couple pieces of chicken to compliment it. Even the chicken tasted like it was processed chicken chunks. The lettuce was overwhelming. The spices were overwhelming as well and not even that good. I can say that the sopapillas were really good. I will go back and give it another try and I will definitely get the little sopapillas! I know, it hard to believe you can get a good quality meal, for a very low price, at a fast food restaurant. (seems like a fast food restaurant, but doesn't taste like fast food) Well, it's possible, - I visit the restaurant on Wyoming. I love the re-fried beans here. They are cooked with a hint of bacon grease, which really adds to the flavor. My favorite: The breakfast Mexicana plate is superb! A plate of scrambled eggs, smothered with their chili con queso (arguably the best queso in ABQ) w/ side of refried beans/3 strips of high quality crispy bacon, cooked just right, and a freshly made, soft fluffy, flour tortilla. All for less than $6.00. So what if it's served on a paper plate.. it's totally delicious - everything about it! Also, you can't go wrong with the beef tacos. So I came here with the kids on a Friday night. The place has a nice atmosphere, Typical of a this type of psudo mexican eatery. The Salsa bar was ok, not as fresh as it could be, but not bad. The salsa's I ate could use a little work, not as good as they could be. Then again, tomatoes are out of season right now, so take it or leave it. The food. My fajita steak burrito was good. Not great, but good. The price was right and I felt it was a good deal. My kids had the beans and cheese nachos. I got a large, and although they were large, the quality didn't seem to do it for me. Lucky for me, at least one of the kids liked them, and the salsa could save them. The Mexican Plate, Good deal, good food, nothing to blow your mind. Overall, nothing to get excited over, just another decent quality food joint in the Duke City. I might have given 4 stars had the cashier been a little more helpful. I've ordered both through drive-thru and inside and no matter what time of day it is, they seem to not get the order right. There especially famous for giving you just flour tortillas rolled up "like a burrito" in foil, when your supposed to have an actual burrito. I've went as far as to check my order (opening everything) before leaving the restaurant. Apparently, this happens a lot at this location. Two other customers behind me, also told me they check there orders before leaving and every time something is wrong or missing. I love Taco Cabana, the food is delish with prices to compliment. The salsa bar is always stacked to par with several fresh salsas to chose from. Maybe, the location in Rio Rancho don't have an order fulfilment issue, I'm going to have to give them a try. read more

I have always enjoyed my meals from TC, everything's delicious! There are many people who cannot eat menudo but if your one that can, TC has some of the best! Coming from California i grew up on traditional Mexican food and menudo was something special, something only served on weekend's but thankfully TC serves it everyday! Along with great soup they also serve the usual Mexican food. You can find a lengua burrito or a breakfast taco or a 10" quesadilla or a stack of pancakes. Great flavorful sala bar with guacamole, lemons, limes, onions, and a wide variety of colorful salsas. The tortillas are fresh and warm (just missing the butter) however they do offer a whipped spread (what that consists of is a mystery to me). Sodas, beer, tea and traditional Mexican drinks are offered and its all for a great price. They even serve hot syrup for the pancakes. I think TC has something for everyone and i think everyone should come and try the food chances are you'll leave satisfied! read more

Taco Cabana on Coors sucks. All i asked for were 2 tacos on one they didn't put any cheese on it, the other tasted like it was sitting for years. Then you try to tell staff they and they don't speak English so they have no idea what you are saying, then you finally get someone that speaks English and they act like your bothering them... The staff at the San Mateo location is horrible. The lady at the front taking orders scowls and is extremely rude. We sat and watched them get order after order wrong and each time a customer would say something they would give them a hard time and in case slammed the trays down. A customer even had their buzzer go off to get his food but it wasn't ready so the lady grabbed the buzzer and said, not ready we'll call you! This was on a Tuesday at 3:30 so I suggest trying a different time when the staff isn't the same. Ouch read more

I normally get breakfast here before work. Always delicious. The other items haven't been so on point. I bought a green chile burrito and chicken tacos. Both were so runny. I'm glad I didn't have anything nice on and it was nearing the end of my shift. My favorite thing to order is the posole and that too has been iffy. Taco Cabana is definitely my go-to if I need quick, satisfying food. And two words will keep me coming back: Salsa Bar. It's like the gift that keeps on giving. When ordering, I usually keep it simple - chicken fajita tacos with guacamole. Lately I've been just getting beans and rice tacos and I don't know what they do to the beans but damn they are smokey and good. I'm a sucker for horchata to drink. Can't go wrong with TC. I ordered the carne adovada and as usual it was cooked deliciously. It was spicy. I love their jalapeño salsa. If your looking for lighter fair go with the cabana bowl. I usually go for grilled chicken with no shell and hold the cheese and guacamole for a lighter fare. It's not necessarily the most outstanding restaurant but what I like about it is they are consistent. It also helps that you are open late. Definitely a must for Albuquerque night owls. read more

Just bought menudo and it tastes/smells completely horrible . I am not a person who typically writes reviews but it is not okay to sell this to the public people can get sick! One of my friend's from ABQ suggested all my friends and I try Taco Cabana. Considering we were first time customers in this establishment, we all had a question or two regarding the menu; the cashier that had taken all of our orders, named April, was rude, sassy and snippy and made the establishment unwelcoming. Her demeanor made us feel as if we were simply wasting her time. Even whilst it was busy, our orders came out in a timely manner, and the crew that was working in the back was very friendly when handing our meals.
