Not impressed with the food that i ordered. Meat was tough and rubbery. I would rather go to another location to get tacos.

We decided to wait until traffic died down a bit on a Monday afternoon rush hour so we found Taco Cantina on Yelp. Didn't realize how close it was to my old office. It's literally located in a small strip of stores on a side street next to the new Braves stadium. I believe this hidden gem will get tons of business with the new stadium. When you walk in, you order at the front with the cashier and she will bring the meal to you. FOOD: - CARNE ASADA TACO ($1.85): probably my least favorite taco. The taco was tiny cubes of beef in two tortillas. I had to drench it in sauce. I probably wouldn't order this one again. - BARBACOA TACO ($1.85): the flavor of the barbacoa was there. I didn't really need to add more sauces to it. I would order this taco again. - SALMON TACO ($3.35): this taco was on their "special of the day" chalkboard and it was definitely my favorite taco. It comes with two slices of grilled salmon topped with slaw in a single tortilla. The salmon wasn't dry and pretty flavorful. I would definitely order this again. - FISH TACO ($2.98): just like the salmon taco, the fish taco was great as well. I would order again. It's a grilled fish topped with pico de gallo and guacamole and slaw on a tortilla. - MILANESE DE POLLO TORTA ($8.95): Grilled Chicken, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, avocado, chipotle mayo & pickled jalepenos on toasted bread. The torta does come with a side of chips that you could dip with the complementary sauces from the condiment bar. It was pretty tasty. Would like to try their other tortas to see if it matches up to this torta. - BLACK & WHITE TRES LECHE CUPCAKE ($4.25): Was recommended by many on Yelp and I'm so glad I tried it. Luckily for us, there was only one left in the refrigerated display case. This version of tres leche is chocolate cake with white vanilla frosting and shavings of chocolate. The sponge part of the cake is soaked in milk. Great for sharing. AMBIANCE: It's a small spot with maybe ten small tables indoors and four tables outdoors. You have a sauce and toppings bar which includes sauces and salsa, and toppings such as white onions, pickled jalepenos, and cilantro. On top of the bar, you will find plastic silverware. To the left of the cash register, there is a huge fridge stocked with a variety of cold beers. To the right of the cash register, there is another huge fridge stocked with a variety of non-alcoholic beers like soda, juices, and water. Overall, I can't wait until the next time I come back as I am craving it even typing this review. I am definitely a fan of Taco Cantina. TIP: + From 5-7pm, they offer $2 beers on select beers. + DEAL ALERT: for $6.95, you can get three standard tacos with two sides: beans and rice. + The classic/standard tacos come naked (protein on two tortillas). Sooooo me and the family went to Taco Cantina Today for lunch and it was amazing! The chipotle steak quesadilla was so flavorful juicy and hot. The Asian beef tacos were to die for, perfect size and the slaw on top was a bonus. The chipotle steak Burrito was packed full of meat cheese and veggies.. it was so good. The salsa bar was a great touch. I personally love the Verde salsa. The only negative was the extra small size of the cups at the salsa bar. They need to be much bigger. But all in all great food very flavorful, great price, nice staff. My family and I will definitely be returning! read more

We have been eating at this restaurant weekly for 4+ years and love the food. Since Covid 19, the quality of the Asian Beef Tacos has declined tremendously. There are some pieces that are too tough to chew with gristle in them. Earlier this year, we switched to Fried Chicken Tacos and decided to give the Asian Beef a try again last week. The first week was very good but today we ordered two and one was mostly inedible. The chef here is great and takes pride in his food. I hope this feedback will help him to remedy the quality of this particular taco. We will continue to eat at this restaurant. Just stumbled upon this hidden jewel in Smyrna. Well, it's not really hidden, it's located on a very busy stretch of Spring Road in Smyrna, GA about 3-5 minutes from Cumberland Mall in a small plaza. Don't let the unassuming facade fool you. They know Mexican food here and especially street tacos and Tortas. I decided to try the tacos. One barbacoa (brisket), pollo (chicken), and one of what they call Super Tacos, Camaron ala Diabla (spicy shrimp). All of them were good while two stood out! The Brisket and Shrimp tacos. The chicken taco, is a chicken taco if you've ever had one. Nothing special. For $1.85 try something else under the taco menu if you want to be different. These 6" double stacked corn tortillas are piled high with meat and then you take them over to the complimentary salsa bar to add your toppings. Cilantro, diced white onions, pickled onions, lime, pickled jalapeños and a variety of fresh salsas are among your options. While I don't recommend it, you may add cheese or sour cream to each taco for a small fee. I say go with out them because true Mexican street tacos don't have cheese one them unless it's chihuahua and that's for a specialty taco. Anyway, the tacos were freshly made and my three tacos were ready in about 2 minutes. I came around 2:30 so the place was relatively empty, but I was told it gets really busy especially around lunch time. Aside from a variety of tacos and tortas they have several other menu options made fresh to order including burritos, enchiladas and quesadillas. The use to sell tamales but they don't anymore. They also have a very large selection of imported and domestic beers to choose from as well as several soft drink options including Mexican Coca-Cola and other drinks indigenous to Mexico. If you are in the mood for desert they also offer a few options including Bri's homemade tres leeches cake and home made cupcakes. I can't wait to bring my husband here as we are both really big taco and Mexican food people. On Saturday's they have an all day beer special with Tecate and Coors Light only $2. Nice staff, clean atmosphere and delightful music. I will definitely be back and tell others. While their prices for regular street tacos are a little more than what I'm accustomed to paying at authentic Mexican restaurants I highly recommend it and even understand why they may be a little higher given they are not located in some obscure back road location. I have been a loyal customer for years. Called to complain one time when they left out my guacamole on a to-go order. Next time I tried to order online, I received a phone call from the owner saying I was no longer welcome because when I called about the prior order, I "used racial slurs and cussed out" the employee (who is owner's daughter). That's a great story, but totally untrue. My wife and two children heard the conversation I had. Unfortunately, I'm a victim of "cancel culture" and a woke place of business. I feel like I have been slandered. What a sad state of affairs this country is in, and I guess the customer in longer right. The tacos are amazing and well worth the price, but the tortas keep me coming back time and time again. I love how friendly and kind the staff are every time I arrive. Never had a bad experience with them. The only thing I don't like about Taco Cantina is that there salsa bar doesn't have a bowl sized cup for dipping your chips (you'll see when you get there). Try the Chorizo Torta! The tacos here are street style unless you order the super so be mindful that you'll have to add on what you'd like at the salsa bar. The Cuban which is the most popular. However, it being evening I wasn't I the mood for a sandwich, but I'm sure it's delicious and I will be back for that for sure!! Taco Cantina is our favorite spot! We are regulars because I can't stop the craving for their pulled pork tacos (with a side of their delicious cucumber salad). My husband is a fan of the tortas. The only complaint I could possibly have is their delicious complimentary salsa comes in teeny tiny cups you can't even fit a chip into. If they got a standard sized condiment cup for their salsas, they would have fixed the only thing they're doing wrong in the whole restaurant. I've been here a couple of times for a quick lunch on business trips to Atlanta and I've been impressed with the speed of service and quality for a low price; their "super tacos" are all less than $3 and have delicious fillings, including spicy shrimp, fish and other toppings. Their regular tacos are less than $2 and they have a small salsa bar to create your own toppings. This is one of the best taco places I have found in Georgia! I have had street tacos in San Diego, Mexi Cali and Guadalajara. These are the closest and most authentic tacos I have had. The nachos are also stacked, think a cookie sheet full of chips loaded with all the good stuff. This little hole in the wall will knock your socks off! And that doesn't happen that often around Smyrna! Try the Cuban Torta! Try the Barbacoa Torta! Try Everything! The Barbacoa is marinated for days, then cooked slowly for hours. Then it's piled generously on the freshly baked bread from right down the street. Then they add pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo, pico and pickled onions YUM! And the salsa bar was wonderful. As I was eating my Cuban at lunch last week I watched people walk right past this place on their way to Subway, which is two doors down. Excellent, authentic Mexican place in the already-crowded Smyrna taco market. One thing that will benefit them over some of the other locations (la villa, taco t, etc.) is that they are located very close to several of the bigger companies in the area (Home Depot and RaceTrac HQ right around the corner). Anyway, back to the food. Everything was incredibly fresh. The salsas (I tried both labeled roja) were some of the best I've had from a salsa bar. Great roasted tomato and garlic flavor. I ordered: 4 tacos (Barbacoa, Chicken Tinga, Carne Asada, Camaron ala Diabla) 1 tamale (chicken with red sauce) Rice and beans I think the highlights for me were the Barbacoa and the Camaron ala Diabla tacos. The Barbacoa was juicy and flavorful. The shrimp taco was slightly spicy and went well with the chile de arbol slaw on top. The only taco that was "meh" to me was the carne Asada; however, after doctoring it up with the condiment bar it was pretty darn good. Overall, this is a great place to come get a quick cheap lunch, or to come have a couple of beers and tacos with friends before going out (once they get their already-approved license in). If you get a chance, talk to the owner. He's a truly genuine guy and was very open to me about his business and what he's poured into it! This taco restaurant is my favorite and it's close to home so I'm here often. I started out getting the chicken torta which is definitely best to eat right after you get it for the hot and crispy bread. However, my regular favorite is the cantina salad which is always fresh and the portion is just right. I combine that with the fish or shrimp taco both of which are tender and spiced just right. I also enjoy the chicken tinga taco and the tamales they serve on weekends although for now they've replaced those with the salmon taco which is also very tasty. I think my favorite thing is the salsa bar where I just can't get enough pickled onions, cilantro, and smoky morita salsa. The staff here is upbeat and friendly and the food comes out quickly. The prices are in reasonable and I don't think I've ever had an issue with my order or the service. It's a small spot so my boyfriend and I often eat outside or take our food to go. Honestly the only thing I could complain about is the small size of the salsa containers but it's free and delicious. It's not uncommon for me to eat here more than once a week. For almost a decade, one of my favorite places in Atlanta has been Tacos la Villa (and still is!), but we decided to try something new last night and found Taco Cantina on yelp as nearby and with almost the same ratings as Tacos la Villa! It was oddly empty for dinnertime; when we arrived, it was just the two of us and one other patron. When we left, it was still just the two of us, though a couple people came in for pickup orders. The food was great! I ordered the queso dip (pretty much what you expect when you order queso), but dressed it up with onions and cilantro from the salsa bar, and enjoyed the chips with salsa as well. I also ordered the chorizo taco (really good) and the al pastor taco (also good - loved the generous amount of pineapple in it). I too dressed the from the taco bar. Warning: there is a salsa there labeled as very hot... It indeed is VERY HOT! My date got the asada torta, which was the best torta I've ever had. Though to be fair, I don't get tortas often if at all. I do have a weakness for Mexican, but I totally think the 5 stars is deserved! read more

Dang, this place is good! Hadn't even seen Taco Cantina, despite driving past it many, many times. Good reviews on Yelp sent me there, and I'll be back often. On my first visit today, I had the Torta Barbacoa -- very flavorful, good quantity, good ratio of meat to (very good) bread. Pepperjack cheese added flavor. So too the pickled red onions, and they also gave the torta a nice crunch. The torta came with chips on the side, and a salsa bar offers plenty of good options. Bottled and canned soft drinks and beer are available. I'll try tacos and enchiladas on future visits. Daily specials as well. read more
