It's Taco Friday! Trying tacos from this place tonight. Ordered Assad's, chorizo, al pastor and langoniza (not sure) I spelled that right. I liked chorizo - slightly salty. Consistency of meet was good and seasoning was over all pretty good. Al pastor was good too, meat was tender and nice seasoning. Not too many fatty pieces which I personally can't stand in a taco. Asada tacos, meat was slightly tough Husband ordered , shrimp tacos battered and grilled - he said grilled were best! My son ordered asada fries with cheese! Really good and fries were cooked throughout , not greasy and seasoned well. Their pork in green sauce is really good. Environment is great. I got a five dollar special...a burrito that is normally 6.99 for five. It was huge and pretty good, filled with grilled chicken and rice mostly. Just had lunch here with my brother and sister and it was Great. The tacos where awesome as usual, but we also tried the Camarones mojo de ajo, in other words the Shrimp in Garlic sauce. My brother and sister where impressed with the quality of food and with the great service. My sister works as a chef in Rancho Palas Verdes and she knows what a**holes servers could be sometimes, especially when its taco tuesday swamped. Despite being busy all the employees where smiling, friendly, and refilled chip bowl quicker than you can say Devils Brew. Speaking of brew.... but back on topic, We even posed for a picture with the lady that took our order! and the other waitress was nice enough to take pics of us! We found this place on our way home. We ordered to go but next time we have to stay and dine in. They gave us chips and salad while we wait. Love it! The staffs are so welcoming and explained to us in great details of their menu and specials. The $1 taco Wednesday was an amazing deal. They also have other daily deals/special through out the week. I'm sure this spot was good at one point. But sadly quality has really fallen. Ordered a work lunch with many orders, ordered potato crispy tacos and took one bite too many. Taco smelled and tasted weird. Opened it up to find the worst potato ever, it was completely rotten and no consideration was made to think who would ever want to eat this. Called and spoke to manager who said he would replace the tacos and then when he saw the photos (texted to him) he said he'd refund entire order and give us all lunch again, well that never happened. I was craving a wet burrito and saw this place and thought I'd stop and see what they had. First off, I was impressed with the ambiance. It feels like you're walking into a sit-down / dine in restaurant vs a taco shop (which is what I thought it was). The menu choices were plentiful. I went in craving a burrito and stood there for 10 mins trying to decide which sounded best. I finally went with the steak picado burrito, wet style. It was huge, it was delicious. The flavors,.. the whole thing couldn't have been better. It made me wonder what it would taste like as a plate. It makes me want to go and try more of their burritos. I'll definitely be back. This is my favorite restaurant. I crave their out of this world amazing tacos. But my husbands favorite is the shrimp cocktail because each bite all the way to the bottom, is shrimp. Usually, when halfway down, the shrimp is gone. But let's get back to the tacos. The tortillas are fresh and are scrumptious. Any taco you get is flavorful and artfully put together. I have been to Taco Hut for many years and never had a problem. Always enjoyed the food. Suddenly today, I am questioning their integrity. I ordered online food for takeout. the total was over $70. When my wife arrived to pickup the food, the restaurant was dark and doors locked. However, my credit card information went through and they apparently charged the card while being closed. This obviously is very unethical - bordering on theft (depending on how the owners act tomorrow) I tried calling the other 2 locations of the restaurant and they were also closed (no answer). They may also be charging credit cards while not serving any food. I called my credit card company and disputed this charge. But that will be a pain in the neck to deal with. So I ordered for pickup through Postmates and order was wrong. I ordered a 3 item combo plate and my chili relleno was missing. I also ordered the chorizo beans...and they did not give chips to go with them. Got home and realized the mistake, so I called. The girl was real nice and told me I could get a refund through Postmates...who promptly referred me back to Taco Hut. So sad that I have to go back and forth to get a simple order correct. I am OBSESSED with their California Burrito and Strawberry Lemonade!!! I order the California Burrito with shredded cheese, add avocado slices and spicy green sauce on top! It is soooo delicious!! The servers were always great when we dined in, but this last time the owner checked me out at the register. She dropped an f bomb when conversing with another customer, no biggie. She definitely gave me a stink look when I didn't leave a tip. We got home the food was disappointing! Jene was our server. Due to covid, we were seated outside. Jene was very happy and friendly and was constantly checking on everyone who was "dining in" outdoors. This was my family and mines first time eating here and Jene had great recommendations. The asada is very flavorful. The California burrito is a must try & I am very picky with California burritos! So the two stars is not for the food. The food is good but I was so disappointed when went to pick up a take out order and NO ONE was wearing masks or gloves. Even the customers were there without masks. I understand that the county health order was lifted but I think what businesses fail to understand is that it is still not safe to conduct business as usual. So this my second time ordering the Jessica burrito. The first time I got the green sauce which was spicy like they say it is but the burrito seem to lack much beans in it. I decided to give it another try and ordered it with out the rice which made it much better. My complaint is that I ordered ahead for pick up and my food was cold so I have no idea how long its been waiting and I arrived about 5 min early for my scheduled pick up. When I finally sat down to dig in there was no utensils in my bag. This wouldn't be a problem if I was eating at home but I'm at work so I had to search for some utensils. I took my mom to eat there last night 2/22 and she ordered a pozole. She took a few bites and pulled a long brown hair out of her mouth. We quietly asked the sever to come over and she took it away. She said if we would like anything else and we said no it's okay. But who wants to eat after they pulled a large hair out of their mouth barely touching her food. When we got the bill she charged us for the pozole which is fine but she didn't even eat it due to a foreign object in her food. My mom has curly blonde hair no way that was hers. The server also had her long brown hair not pulled back to server health code. I've worked in the food industry for ten years and this is not good customer service.
