Some of the BEST Mexican food I've ever had and I'm from Southern CA. The flavors were bomb - the guac was fresh and real. All avocado and no filler. The chips were light, crispy and delicious. I had the pork burrito bowl and my husband had the tacos - 1 shrimp, 1 ahi. Both 10/10. The service here is also so good. They are so friendly and really want you to enjoy their food. 1st Place - 2022 Kauai Fish Taco Throwdown Hands down, without a doubt, the best of the 9 fish tacos we ate on Kauai. The fish was great and a decent portion but what sets this taco above the others is the flavor and overall attention to details. The double corn tortillas were perfectly executed and the salsa verde made this fish taco by the best by far. Yep, the Taco Libre food cart rules the Kauai fish taco universe. How about that and only $5/taco. Add in the the nice staff, easy parking and nice park with chicken repelling spray bottles... what more could you want? Uhhh maybe cerveza and some canopies over the picnic tables because it DOES rain on Kauai. Don't miss this one. It's right across from the Sueoka Market in Koloa. Highly recommended. Okay, just a few more important details. The girl at the counter stole my heart. We made full eye contact the entire time I ordered as we flirted with our eyes. I think she was naturally sweet, but I was just falling in love. She asked my name, I asked hers. I was so distracted that I forgot her name later on. It was definitely a Hawaiian name, definitely one or two letter L's in there. Super amazing skin and complexion. Superior facial features. She said she could never do her makeup like mine... but lord knows she doesn't need to use any, like ever. She was visually beautiful, no doubt, but her personality is what brought it out even more. I hope she remembers me as I remember her. So now, the second most important thing, the food. This is officially my favorite carne asada taco place on this island. Authentic, juicy, and such a generous amount. 2 for $10 but I got 4 and yes, I ate them all while the aggressive roosters clucked underneath my chair. I stomped my feet and shuffled the dirt with each bite I took, to remind them who's higher up in the food chain. As for the fish tacos, they were tasty too but I've had better ones from food trucks out here, so I won't say this is their best item. If you come here, you get the carne asada tacos. Da fighter fries were good and so filling. Topped with so much sticky icky goodness. A very nice side meal to share with a group, not bad for $14. Service was great, prices were good, ingredients and flavors were amazing. 10/10 would hit it again. read more

I had pretty high hopes for this place due to all the 5 star reviews, but after eating here, I would recommend against it. The food ranges from decent to pretty mediocre depending on what you get. The fries were pretty good, the elote was alright, and the fish taco was pretty mediocre. If you've had good Mexican food in CA or TX, this place is not comparable at all. The wait time was absolutely ridiculous though. We had maybe 7 people ahead of us in line, and it took ~50 min (!!) just to have our order taken, with another ~20 min waiting for the food after. I don't mind waiting for places that are really good / popular, but I don't understand why things were so slow here. Pretty crazy wait for a food truck, and definitely not worth it. I can also see why this place has so many 5 star reviews. They're just buying the reviews (you get a free drink or guac for leaving a review). Obviously they're not forcing anyone to leave a 5 star review, but there's certainly some social pressure to do so. read more

Ok I think this the best place to get tacos on the island. Definitely the food tastes authentic coming from the mainland. They're friendly and helpful. The food tastes great as it's fresh cooked to order. All the we tried carne asada and al pastor pork, both were delicious. I tried the Cali Burrito which was too heavy and not that flavorful. It needed something to breakup the heaviness of the meat, fries, and cheese. TLDR: Incredible and fresh fish tacos and burrito. Good portion size especially with the protein. Price per entree ranged from $10-14. Killer service. Nothing-special ambience. Recommended food stop while you're in Kauai. Our family ordered 4 fish tacos (no shrimp, two with quac), two carne asada tacos, a carne asada burrito, and the corn cup. We were there in Jan 2024. Total cost was $68. All entrees were inhaled by all with thumbs up around the table. While we all ate our entrees as is, there's salsa and other accompaniments to the right of the ordering window. The service was great albeit a little slow (but it's island time, right?). Fast-prep entrees are noted on the menu and we didn't exclusively order fast-prep items. The lady that took our order was super friendly and provided her recommendations based on what we ordered. You get a pager once you place your order. We waited about ten minutes. Seating is limited. There were just two tables and they were setup under a canopy right next to the truck. The ambiance was nothing special--just a place to scarf down some delicious food. read more

After a great day taking in the sites of Na Pali Coast and an afternoon on the Poipu Beach and watching the sunset, we headed over for fresh Mexican! We loved the owners and their service. We relaxed under the moon light and canopy with string lights. The smells are fresh! You wait for the freshness! Fake reviews: they bribe people and give free drinks and guacamole for a 5-star review. Lady that takes the order is multi-tasking and very rude. Food is sub par and repeats for hours and hours after eating (like burping some vomit juice). Paid $80 for my family for something that belongs in the trash. When leaving we saw inside where the chef was and there were about 20 flys. Flys on the raw meat and cooked meat. This food truck at the Koloa town is new to the area serving up excellent Mexican food. I had the seafood burrito today. It came out wrapped in foil keeping it nice and hot. The outside of the tortilla was grilled making it very tasty. The inside was loaded with shrimp and fish a nice balance of flavor and texture. It went down fast. We had a delicious meal at this taco truck! Excellent tacos and friendly staff. Our family of 2 adults and one 4 year old shared the following: 1) 2 shrimp tacos - excellent! My favorite. 2) 2 fish tacos - very good; healthy and flavorful 3) 2 al pastor tacos - great, with tender and well-seasoned meat (my 4 year old daughter loved her al pastor!)
