    Cali burrito

Got the Cali burrito but they ran out of beef and pork, so I went with chicken instead. Waited over 30 minutes in line starting at 5:30 PM. Pro tip: call 15 minutes before they open to skip the line and score free guac. Food took about 10 minutes once ordered. Burrito was tasty but a little too salty for me. Outdoor seating available--nice casual spot to chill. Plus, there are other food trucks nearby if you want to explore more options.

Asada and pork burrito. Toasted nicely with guacamole on the side. Delicious!

One of the most legit spots on Kauai. Food was great and tasted how I expected it to taste - like back home in LA where we have lots of great Mexican food. They do it right here! Located in a little group of food trucks. Go across the way for some awesome shave ice and coffee too. You won't regret it here in Koloa. Guys were friendly and took our order over text. Get it in before 1045am to pickup and save time!

SO glad I stopped by here. I've seen the truck on my past visits to the island, but never tried them out... Until now. Had I known what I was missing, I never would have waited this long! While you wait to order, they have 6 "hidden" wrestling action figures you can look for. We found 4 (I guess we have to go back to find the other 2... darn!). The crew was so friendly and welcoming. Onto the food. Carne asada taco- super flavorful. The shrimp taco was AMAZING. Absolutely delicious. The rice... ooomg... can I have the recipe?! All in all, this will definitely be a repeat when I visit again. Thanks Taco Libre!

If you're looking for Mexican food on the island, look no further than this unassuming taco truck. The burrito was excellent with a flour tortilla griddled to perfection and a good mix of rice, beans, cheese, meat, and cabbage. I got a side of guacamole that was super tasty as well. It did not take too long for my food to be ready, and I dined with others near the trucks. I'll absolutely return.

Not only the best Mexican in Kauai, but the best Mexican food in Hawaii! We tried the Cali burrito, Meximoco, Chile relleno and elote corn. All were so delicious and my family loved every dish. Cali burrito was definitely our favorite and might be one of the best burritos I've ever had. I can see why they were awarded #3 food truck in the US from Yelp. The two that were selling in the truck were super cool and friendly. And the truck is set up in such a beautiful spot in Koloa. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back. I made sure to ring that bell in the back after that awesome meal. Mahalo Taco Libre!

Found Taco Libre on IG a couple weeks before our Kauai trip. I was very impressed with what they stand for and what they don't. Aaleiyah and Christian make a great team and they make great food. Tried the Cali Burrito. It's all about the fries. Next trip I have to try their version the Loco Moco. Can't wait. Check them out. Don't forget to order your drinks NO ICE

Got the chicken & fish tacos and a (massive!) pork burrito. Great portions for the price and totally delicious. We were both well-stuffed. Took our food to go & ate outside the botanical gardens as we awaited our tour - had a family of 5 stop in their tracks and ask "Where did you get that?! " and heartily thanked us for the advice when we directed them to Taco Libre. Their salsa choices are off the charts as well. Soooooo so good!

The California burrito was amazing, and the elote corn was also incredible! Really love the different salsas and the vibe at the little food truck park!

BOMB a** Food - Delicious salsas - Worth the journey Not much else to say other than go get yourself a taco. I have traveled to several places in Latin/Central America and am always a little bummed when I order Hispanic food in the states because it's never the same. Welp, this is one that is a close contender for the best tacos/burritos I've had in the U.S. So good we came back twice! We came right when they opened so didn't have too long of a wait, between both visits we ordered a shrimp taco, carne asada taco, cali burrito and a seafood burrito. Cali burrito? Best burrito I've ever had, hands down. It has pork and carne asada with crispy French fries inside, plenty of fixings...what a delicious combo. Carne asada tacos hit the jackpot, spiced and cooked to perfection. Shrimp was tasty and the seafood burrito was jam packed with flavor and fillings. The salsas are a must try, they reel in the flavors of the dish and made it an outstanding meal. It's in a cool location just on the outskirts of the little downtown, you're close to a brewery and plenty of other shops. They even had live music onsite! The staff are THE friendliest and go the extra mile to make sure your order is right and the food is top tier. Gotta go - I'm telling ya, it's worth it!

Great Mexican food, and in Hawaii of all places. We got the Cali burrito. It was great and had both carne asada and al pastor meat. Solid salsas on the side too. Burrito was a bit small, but it was good. I lived in Mexico for a few years and I think any Mexican spot that only has Pepsi and not Coke is a little sus. The truck is in a nice little park with plenty of places to sit. Food came out pretty quick and they opened right when they said they would.

    Friendly smiling people here

OMG, This place is the bomb!! Best fish taco that I've ever eaten. Hands down. Fresh mahi mahi smothered with all the delicious sauces. I also ordered one of the pork tacos. Very good, especially if you like your food with a little heat. It definitely had some spiciness. But the fish taco was AMAZING. Next time, I'm just going to order two of those. Yes, I'll be back again soon!!

The only thing that saved my burrito was the shredded chicken. Then she stood at the bar staring at us until we decided. The drinks were delivered quickly and we're actually good. Next came the food order. Four menus for five people. Order placed for one taco salad, twelve street tacos, all chicken or steak, and one burrito. We asked if we could have chips and salsa, guacamole, and queso dip. One bowl of chips for five people, which we paid for two refills. Salsa was canned, guacamole was not fresh, and queso was bland. Taco salad was OK. Street tacos weren't what we expected and didn't have limes. They tasted ok and the meat was fresh. Burrito was messed up and they tried to lie and say that's how burritos are served and the green sauce was chilis. We found out it was cooked and served with ground pork. This was not advertised. Overall, they seemed bothered by us and we're talking about us in Spanish to each other. One of our party was fluent in Spanish. The front desk staff guided me to the elevator. This trip was for my birthday. In every reservation when asked about a special occasion, I put birthday. This was the first restaurant to acknowledge my special day. The check-in staff wished me well as did the server. We had been to several restaurants prior to Eating House that didn't say a word. Kudos to the staff for its kindness. The restaurant is open air and very comfortable. It has a rustic feel. We were seated by the window on a cool, rainy night but were perfectly dry the whole evening. On top of that, our server was very helpful in guiding us to order the right amount of food. He brought us a serving of edamame which is always on the house. The shrimp & pork potstickers were very good. I had the ramen which was tasty, filling and a great choice. Our server was terrific to put the spicy oil on the side which made it easier for me to eat. My husband had the butterfish which is the best I have ever tasted. It is a signature dish and always a pleaser. The only real downside is the limited menu. We were told that because of a staff shortage, it wasn't the typical menu. This was disappointing. But they did have the best of the Roy's dishes. So far, it has been the best experience that we have had in Poipu.

Unfortunately, the pastry chef was not there that night but there is a great ice cream shop near by! This restaurant is great for hosting large parties as there were several including our own. I ordered the spicy ramen. I have a lower tolerance for spicy food but thought this was pretty mild. It's a 4/10 on the spice scale. It was so good and the serving size was very large, I would definitely order again!!

We sat on the patio by the pool and luckily the umbrella was large enough to block the sun! The food all tasted great. The crab dip with 6 or 8 pieces of toasted focaccia was high quality with real crab not surimi. We ordered the flatbread with chicken instead of pork and it was also very good with a nice crispy crust and moist chicken chunks. The wedge salad was a large piece with crisp bacon, candied pecans, grape tomato halves and a tasty dressing. It only needed some red onion to make it perfect. The calamari were crispy but the portion size was too small and the pieces of calamari were too small so the ratio of crust to fish was too high.

Under the stewardship of one of Hawai'i's most celebrated culinary ambassadors and the "Godfather of Poke", Chef Sam Choy expanded his restaurant empire with Holoholo Grill at Koloa Landing Resort. With menus designed to celebrate local flavors, the spirit of Hawai'i, and his own signature creations, this four-time James Beard Best Pacific Regional Chef nominee has made this eatery a must-dine when on the island. Was it worth the holoholo to this grill!? PURCHASE(S) Spicy Mango-Rita ($16.00 HH): Crafted with El Jimador tequila, mango, cucumber, lime, and habanero simple syrup, I preferred more tequila than sweetness in this relaxing cocktail. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=E2Y79-PTRwIo2Pq7AZNbCw Crispy Calamari ($18.00 HH): A large portion of mostly uniform-shaped rings in a lovely crunchy crust with a side of homemade cocktail sauce, this could've been an entire meal and I would've been very happy! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=q4X8ibaMCo1ECFajkI8v_w [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 5.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($8.00): A decent portion with rings of medium to large sizes, these were hot, dark golden browned, crunchy, and had a slight tendency to crumble when bitten into, while the onion ring (sweet Maui!) rarely pulled out at times. They were barely oily while no dipping sauce was needed. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=96&select=9nvlDm9solIhMbBmp6NtlA Kaua'i Island Brewing Co. The Fonz IPAaaaaaa Beer 6.7% ABV 16floz Draft ($7.00 HH): Bright amber hazy color, hoppy tropical aroma, low body, hoppy sweet tropical flavor, smooth finish, and hoppy sweet tropical aftertaste... aaah! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=96&select=puazSn8xt-53wD9faiXHMA Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc White Wine ($12.00 HH): Screw-off cap, pale color, citrusy zesty aroma, citrusy tropical flavor, light body, crisp dry finish, citrusy tropical zesty aftertaste, and high acidity - refreshing! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=96&select=pJPVDg31qAcFj-iYTFhnKw Hawaiian Ahi Poke Bowl ($26.00): Made with raw ahi tuna, white onion, limu, sesame oil, avocado, cucumber, edamame ocean salad, crispy onion, sweet soy drizzle, wasabi aioli drizzle, and furikake sushi rice, I seriously needed something healthier which this was, everything was fresh, it was a hearty entree, but the presentation was way too "clean" for me! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=96&select=4icP5R2eyusq4EMkkn6v-g SERVICE Greeted by two young gentlemen behind the bar, they directed me to the young hostess who sat me at a small table next to the bar. Given a few minutes to review the various menus, I proceeded to order item after item as the drinks arrived quickly while each food dish took no more than five minutes. Any empties were collected immediately as I was checked on and my water glass filled. The entire staff was great - mahalo! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance) I had no vehicle, so I simply walked from my hotel. However, there was a nightly $40.00 fee for guests if they parked on the property I was staying at, and there might've been some free parking along the many nearby roads and streets. Make sure to carefully read any posted signs. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A clean modern spacious layout with plenty of dining tables both covered and uncovered, plenty of lounge chairs, and a small ball all poolside on a gorgeous property. Plenty of natural lighting everywhere while various electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were several muted TVs all around including the bar area while a live musician played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=96&select=cPGN5wekhW9QqrhcOHxITA ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL From start to finish, I enjoyed my time at Holoholo Grill and would definitely return. Everything tasted fabulous, the prices (especially aloha hours) were a tad elevated, the menus were varied enough, and the service was wonderful. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $90.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). I used a different credit card for points purposes, but they accepted mine of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS
