Years and years of coming to this establishment and never had an issue. My wife and I both ordered lunch. She had the chalupas (three) and they were delivered with no sides. They offer a buffet which I saw the server get the chalupas from. They were soggy and the chicken was cold. After our meal my wife decided to pay. Three people in line. She was the second one and when it was her turn to pay the cashier which is one of the owners tells her to step aside and takes care of the two customers behind her! Sheesh! I died and went to Mexican food heaven when I stepped into Taco Ole. I came with my coworker and she introduced me to this staple in Mission. I took her word that their enchiladas were amazing and boy were they. Our meal started with chips and salsa, followed by conchita soup. It was so good I felt like it was the anticipation meal for my enchilada plate. When we finally got our enchilada plate, every bite was delicious, cheese was melting in my mouth and being a cheese fanatic it was euphoric. Rice and beans were also delicious as well as the ginormous tortillas that were twice the size of my hand! Customer service was great and everyone was friendly. Who puts brown gravey on an enchilada? Everything about the food was greasy and gross. There was food stuck to the "clean" plates and the silverware was dirty. The one on Conway smells bad too. Sometimes we can take too much for granted and not even realize that we have......until you go without. Having sampled mexican food all throughout the state there really is no better bang for your buck, tried and true mexican like Taco Ole'. Wholesome, hearty and hits the bullseye on full-on mexican flavors from fajitas, tacos, chalupas, meats, beans, rice and the TORTILLAS!! O GOD...yes...the TORTILLAS......those bad boys require their own review!! Been coming here for years across the street from work and have tried most of the menu from breakfast, lunch to dinner, but for this review we will focus on their bountiful BUFFET and my all-time favorite you-cannot-go-wrong dish "Poquito de Todo" Translation por favor!!! It means "A little bit of everything". Some reviews have shown displeasure with the advertisement of their Mexican buffet not showcasing enough Mexican food. Understandable, but for what Taco Ole' is supplementing the buffet with you will have your fill! Half of the buffet has your standard fare like enchiladas and mole or rice and beans, bt it's the other half your carnivorous side will be drooling over! All roasted and grilled BBQ meats including juicy pork ribs, HUGE brontosaurus style beef ribs, grilled chicken, fajitas and mollejas.......those are called sweetbread and many folks don't know that those crispy, succulent, plump pieces are endocrine glands. Don't be scared to try one! My favorite dish is the "Poquito de Todo" and comes served with cheese enchiladas, chalupa, some nachos and panchos, taco and rice and beans. It covers all your main flavors and favorites which is why I recommend this dish to anyone that has ever been stuck on what to order on a menu or a first time guest. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG! Make sure to have a few flour tortillas with your meal as they are just churning those suckers out nice and hot! Ask for a little bit of delicious butter to add to it and you have got yourself the best dang all purpose snack God ever created. We tend to eat that for dessert......... The review would be a full 5 stars, but I did have to knock it down one due to the chips served pre meal....they do tend to be a bit greasy at times and many folks will find this a turn off. If they could fix that problem then this would be a full 5. Prices are standard for mexican plate fare although the buffet with it's variety of beautiful meats will run you close to $13. Make sure you are hungry if you brave it!! It's not the smallest joint I've ever eaten at and has just recently been expanded with a second room add-on. When the place is packed which is often expect spaces to be tight sometimes. The ambiance is casual, laid back and full of hustle and bustle. Taco Ole' is a perfect spot to fulfill your mexican food cravings that far surpasses much of the blander fare out there. read more

This to me is the best place to eat Tex-Mex. Mesquite chicken beef ribs enchiladas, and...well anything else you can think of is just great. We try to go there at least once a week. When we go somewhere else for Tex-Mex we usually wind-up saying "we should have gone to Taco Ole". Well there was this one time they mixed up our order. My wife called back and complained about the mistake, and an apology followed along with an offer to either get our money back or replace the order with what we really wanted. Of all the many taco restaurants I've been to. This one really stands out in many different ways. The food is good, service is good, no real bad thing to say about it's so pedestrian. And I don't mean that in a negative or bad way, just it's so catered to your needs. it's all there for you, you don't have to think what to order or ask if they could make something off menu. it's just there, the buffet, the staff expects nothing more for you to ask for something different. read more

This is farm to table, made from scratch by great cooks in the kitchen. 4 types of scrambled eggs and all the local favorite comfort foods. Hint: alot of local folks eat here and the cops, too. We ate here for the first time in about 7-8 years. Now we remember why we don't go here very often. They claim to have the best Mexican food in the Valley but it is not true. The chips are super greasy (but the fresh salsa is good). The flour tortillas are great, made on the spot in a cramped corner near the buffet. But so much of everything else is greasy, greasy, greasy. They pull in the customers and it's nice that they offer a buffet all day. But for $12, it should have better quality offerings. And some of the waitresses do not speak English at all. We can order in Spanish, that's okay, but Heaven help the Winter Texans who can't! If you want tasty, homestyle Mexican food that isn't so greasy, there are some very good restaurants to choose from. (See my other reviews.) read more

After my Ab Fab breakfast buffet at the location on Freddy Gonzalez, I was supper excited to go to the Sunday Lunch buffet at the flagship location in Mission. MAJOR LETDOWN. First, it's listed as a Mexican Buffet. Should be listed as Barbecue buffet, as ribs (both beef and pork), grilled wings, and grilled sweetmeats were the main event. Had they been good ribs, I would have been somewhat okay with the offerings. Both types of ribs were entirely too salty. It tasted like they had spent at least 24 hours in a pure saltwater brine. Barely edible. Aside from the above, there was NO MEAT offerings. A bit of scattered ground beef on the cheese tacos for decoration, and a stuffed pepper layered thing, that was mostly pepper and corn tortillas. Again the salsas lacked flavor, and the pico needed additional help. The hand rolled flour tortillas were the saving grace, but for $12.00 I could have bought a slab of beef and a couple dozen tortillas. Point being, when you pay for the "primo" of a restaurants' buffet offerings, you except BETTER than the $7,00 "bargain." Then again, it does make the bargain even better. Notes for Taco Ole - Again, update your website. The offerings do not match what is listed, says barbacoa is on weekend lunch, and the coupons are for 2013. Monitor the buffet, we could not bring ourselves to have a cone, and several other offerings after watching children under age 8 taste and put back, drop and put back, and other gross things children that have never been taught better will do when not supervised. We had to request water refills. If it's too busy for someone to make the rounds more often, perhaps leave several pitchers available for self service by the buffet. Have a working Internet connection if you offer an App. We could not use our Taco Ole App as there was not connection available. Therefore we could not use the coupons, or get our virtual rewards card stamped. read more

Took my parents for lunch. There was a sign stating that muscle shirts were not permitted (granted, I was wearing a sleeveless shirt, not a muscle shirt). They offered to let me borrow a shirt, which the cashier pulled from the cashwrap. The shirt looked really worn, so I declined the offer and just asked to buy a shirt from them. I bought a shirt to be able and eat there. As we walked to the buffet line, I grabbed a plate from the stack of plates (first plate was dirty, which I let go, and just grabbed another one). Then as I was about to grab some rice I noticed a FLY. Their reason for not allowing men to wear "muscle shirts) were to NOT get men's arm hair in the food, so what is keeping them from keeping the flies out? Dirty, dirty, dirty! We saw a spider on the table, and a small roach crawling on the wall next to my mother in law's hair. I couldn't believe it. It's dirty as soon as you walk in. My boyfriend spoke to one of the managers and all he could say was "we just had our health inspection review and we did well." There was no apology or anything. I guess they felt bad when we went to pay because they did have us 20% off our meal, but needless to say we won't be going back there ever again! Had a very very bad experience here. Apparently they closed the restaurant to have the place fumigated and there was some white powder under the tables was it toxic? Who knows nobody had an answer over charging since apparently they want to include the tip in the bill without permission. Disgusting service manager wasn't on site to talk to them either. read more
