However, I will say if you are looking for a cute place to people watch on second street and grab a cocktail then this is perfect. I've tried over half of the menu and I've never been impressed with anything. I never can even get past one or two bites. I kept going back to give them another shot, but at this point, I've decided I can't recommend anyone to eat here, especially for the price point. This last visit I had an amazing bartender and preserved a poke bowl, ceviche, and shrimp cocktail. None were good and I can't even call them satisfactory. I had two bites of the poke and it was bland, boring, and actually tasted bad. Same with the shrimp. The ceviche was also off and my friend and I left full plates and no questions were asked as to why and if we liked the food. We didn't. Very cute place, friendly servers. Mediocre at best food, and very expensive. This 11th chance leaving disappointed (and hungry) was the last chance. I tried.

Not only was it beautiful to look at, but it tasted just as beautifully. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the rainbow swiss chard, cheddar grits, candied pecans, and avocado honey helped balance out all the juiciness from the meat. They use haddock fillet for the Fish & Chips, which was fried to perfection. The Wedge Salad is what actually knocked my socks off! This was one of the best wedge salads that I've ever had. It had your key ingredients: iceberg, buttermilk dressing, red onion, crumbled egg, tomato, bacon gastrique, blue cheese, dill, chives - but something about this salad was different! It was so refreshing, flavorful--just everything you want in a dish. For just over $7, you get a very large piece of fish and a huge helping of fries. The breading is delicious and perfectly crispy. The fish inside is delicate, flakey and moist. The tartar sauce does not taste like it was freshly made and it's a little overly sweet. But the friend fish with the vinegar and tartar sauce was what i was looking for. This is the kind of place that is reminiscent of what H Salt was. Maybe my memory of what this tasted like is inaccurate. But it just doesn't taste as good as I remember. But that could be me or the place, or both. If you want this kind of place, it'll work. Just don't expect much.

He double checked a 2nd time letting them know it was important and they again confirmed no dairy. When he got the rice he took one bite and he thought it tasted like it may have butter he asked again saying "this tastes like it has butter." The employee assured him saying there was no butter. My son was very hungry and so he decided to trust them and ate most of the rice cup. He started feeling sick within minutes and went up a fourth time to ask them. At that point, the employee asked the cook who informed them that butter was used. My son had been dealing with health issues the last two days due to his severe allergy. He is having difficulty breathing, in addition to all the other symptoms that come from dairy allergy. It's very sad to see him in pain knowing the restaurant did not take his allergy seriously and misinformed him. To the owners and staff members please take food allergies seriously. I inner stand people make mistakes. I hope that my son's pain will cause the restaurant to change its policy to take food allergies seriously and that the next person won't suffer. Thank you for your consideration in the request to change your business practices.

What a fun experience! We came to Taco Shore with 3-7 year old girls and 3 overwhelmed moms and the waitress was so patient as we navigated kids picky tastes from the menu. I believe the waitress is the owners daughter, and she handled our train wreck with grace. Now the food! I ordered the 3 shrimp taco plate and I swear, it was so flavorful that I didn't need a side, a sauce or a condiment! The shrimp were fresh and flavorful and I was pleasantly surprised with the fajita veggies keeping the taco moist. Now drinks! After a long day with kids ( and yes we Ubered home) I treated myself to a spicy Cadillac margarita on the rocks. I swear it was the most wonderful sweet/ spicy / sour drink I had. I could not stop drinking it. Needless to say with such good service, outdoor seating, food and drinks, that we are returning this weekend and hope to make it a permanent hang! read more

This is the best Americanized Mexican restaurant! They serve authentic Mexican food with American service. I love their scorpion chowder( it's like claim chowder but unique as their signature soup), it's the best chowder I ever have. Service was fine.. Wasn't happy at all with my order though. I ordered a Baja fish burrito. The fish was burned. it was very thinly sliced fish and a thick layer of breading. The white rice was undercooked, not very pleasant to chew... And the black beans were extremely dry. I probably should of mentioned something to waiter but I took one bite and lost my appetite. Ordered take-out. Great nachos & carnitas. I wish the enchiladas were a bit more exciting or the price. My husband got the tortilla soup with his entree and that was really good but I got a side salad and it basically was crudely chopped iceberg with a sloppy serving of tomatoes and shredded cheese. My absolute favorite spot for Mexican food. I've been going there for years. I used to go every tuesday for taco tuesday. My favorite item are the Ensenada Shrimp Tacos, positively amazing! Their guac and salsa are always fresh and the crowd and atmosphere are great. You can definitely tell it's a local spot. Taco Surf is usually pretty good. Big portions at a decent price. However, I came in for taco tuesday a couple weeks ago and they forgot about us! After we had been waiting 30 minutes and they had sat two or three parties that came after us, we decided to bail and migrate to another taco place. The Baja fish tacos and veggie tacos are great not to dry. Its a really good atmosphere lots of people having a good time. Taco Surf packs the veggie taco full of all the goodies and less fatness but still tastes great. Kinda hate to admit this but they have the best hot wings ever. This Mexican food restaurant throws down on the hot wings. They used to be huge wings but I noticed they scaled back on the chicken but they are still delicious. They have a great Happy Hour with $1 beers and $1 tacos. Dinner can be very cheap. read more

While this may sound normal to some of you, I find this RARELY HAPPENS. I go out a lot so I feel like I know the new norm of minimal service. This place does it right! Ordered Carnitas and the grilled fish plate. Both were excellent and a very fair portion, great value. I will definitely return because these folks are caring and capable...and in a service industry that skimps on service, that means something!

We also like the Super Mex in HB on PCH @ Warner Avenue. The chips and sales are great, yeah good fajitas and the wife likes the Tamales. It is really sad that a lot of the other Super Mex restaurants have closed, I really like this restaurant.

We came because the grapes at Lazy Acres are so epic right now, so we'll go there next. (And I'll review them as well). My partner tried the Cucumber Lime Agua Fresca, not too sweet and very thirst quenching. Service is always attentive and friendly! I love that everyone appears cross-trained to work in the kitchen, which looks clean with fryer oil fresh and at the right temperature. When the food arrives, we're all, "OK, talk to you later," because eating here is SERIOUS gastronomy. The sauces so distinct and so well paired. I have to order the chili braised beef every time: tender, slow heat, perfectly cooked. It's always a hard call because these tacos are deceptively big; do I shove it in my mouth and eat half in a mouthful like a teenaged boy? or do I put half on the second tortilla? Today opted for the latter and split the fried cauliflower with my parter: breaking it up with a spoon do spread out the crispy deliciousness. The Al Pastor soft and phenomenal! My partner was hoping for the Indian flavors to come out more in the Chicken Tinga, but reported that while delicious, it was dominated by the smokiness of the chicken. Leaving fortified and sated!

(So I can't speak to the onsite service, but the woman who gave me my order was certainly friendly and pleasant!) The last time I had a taco even remotely approaching this quality, it was at a private event hosted by Villa's Tacos. If you're familiar with them, you recognize the bar being set. I ordered the pork verde and brisket tacos, and threw in the smoked chicken nachos for good measure. My taste buds are still singing, and also screaming at me at the time of this writing that I haven't already gone back for dinner tonight. (I have an hour before they close to make it happen.) Villa who? Alma's is going to be firmly in my rotation. If you haven't been, go! Keep this place in business, I implore you! And if you go with a group and order the nachos, better order a couple of them, because despite the healthy serving, they're so good that you'll struggle to not wolf down the table's order on your own.

Upon entering, we were greeted really warmly by the woman at the front counter. She was very kind to my friend and I, sporting a big smile on her face and made us feel at home. She recommended me the Quesabirria plate which comes with three quesabirrias of good size, and a side of consomé. It was pretty damn good. Quesabirrias are not something I get to eat very often but I was happy to have tried them here. I am already looking forward to coming back and trying something else on the menu as some of the other items looked delicious. Even though the interior is not the biggest place, it still feels nice and homey. One thing I also enjoyed was the small basket of tortilla chips they gave us topped with some beans and two salsas to put in our food. A green and orange one.
