In my drunken year of 2006 I frequented this place mainly because it's open 24 hrs and we'd head there after a drunken bar outing! The food's not bad, I'm a fan of cheddar cheese (which I realize is not really "mexican") so they only have white cheese, AND it's cash only, I'm not one to carry cash often hahah. A friend took me here a couple months back. It was a bit of a trek from her house in Carson on a rainy evening but she promised it would be worth it. She knows the owners and was familiar with the guys behind the counter. We got excellent service. It's a taco stand. The atmosphere is exactly what you should expect from a taco stand....a little ghetto but not too scary. The food was excellent except for the guacamole was just so-so. Both red and green salsas were excellent. They were the non-tomato kind of salsa...very flavorful and decent heat. I ordered four tacos (two fish, two carnitas) and was pretty full after two but they were so tasty that I finished my plate. And some chips with that awesome salsa. I've lived a few blocks from this place for 15 years and always discounted it as a shady Mexican restaurant. Only after a friend who still lives locally introduced me to this fine establishment did I realize that Taco Sinaloas is indeed a dark, shady Mexican restaurant... ... with delicious delicious lengua tacos!! I spent 4 years in San Diego for school and came to miss the 24-hour taqueria with the salsa stations, blasting mariachi music with the cooks singing along. Who knew in my own back yard was a jewel of a Mexican restaurant with the same vibe and same fare! Sure, it's a bit dark inside, but I've come to consider it as ambient lighting. There are families in the booths with the adults drinking Modelo so that really speaks to the safety and warmth of this place. What keeps me coming back are the lengua tacos. I judge a place based on their beef tongue, and the lengua here is tender and meaty! Plus the salsa bar has radishes! Other favorites are the whole fried fish at something like $7 a platter, as well as carne asada fries. While the carne asada fries aren't the same as what you'd get at Roberto's in SD (french fries and carne asada hotboxed in a styrofoam box), the CAF here are still pretty good. The breakfast steak burrito is decent. It's actually a machaca style burrito with bits of steak and eggs (shredded beef and eggs). It's flavorful without being overly greasy or salty (although the first waft is that of beef grease smell but still not too bad, it goes away after the first bite). I have not been here during late night but the place was friendly enough with fast and courteous service (I wasn't aware that they're open really late until I read a couple of reviews, sounds like I should just stick to Jack in the Box if I go there sober late at night, I might stand out walking straight. If I'm drunk I'd probably go there and I don't care where I go because I wouldn't know where I am). The interior and the atmosphere remind me of a diner in Latin country somewhere, a different mood than some of the mom and pop Latin places in the south bay area (I'm not sure how to explain it but there's this tightly strung feel to the place despite the relaxed and casual setting, half the workers looked serious). The carne asada here is just boiled beef...nothing special...but then I had the Al pastor (marinated pork)....I don't want to know their secret spices for fear of uncovering something that belongs on fear factor but all I can say is that I've never had Al Pastor that tasted as sweet and savory as this one. Quick note: Don't expect clean tables or bathrooms at 2am. But at least they now take credit cards. Now I have a new late, late night option. My 5 star rating here is based on the taste, quantity, price and accessibility. Taco Sinaloa possibly has the best Mexican food in the South Bay, AND they are open 24 hours! They have all kinds of meat for ure tacos and burritos, they have ceviche, soup, stew-type dishes, and etc etc. Taco Sinaloa vs King Taco: Sinaloa wins. The only good thing King Taco has are their tacos (and burritos) and their red hot sauce. Everything else they have are not that great (their chips are in fact HORRIBLE). Sinaloa wins because their tacos and red hot sauce are comparable to King Taco's, AND their other food is as good. The BEST things at Sinaloa are... 1)Green Hot Sauce: best tasting green hot sauce i've ever had. 2)Cheese Quesadilla: u might think, "what? dude, all quesadillas taste the same..." but no. They have the best quesadilla, and it goes so well with the hot sauces (both red and green). 3)Hardshell Taco: best bang for your buck here. You just order one taco, and then they throw out all kinds of shit on it (which is good shit). Even guacamole! For the hardshell taco meat, i like carne asada or lengua. The carne asada burrito here for me is just "ok". They dont put in pico de gallo so the burrito becomes a bit too dry. However, swap the carne asada with chicken, and then the burrito becomes much more juicy. For burritos, my favorite will be the chicken burrito with rice and sour cream with no beans. And lastly, if the red hot sauce isnt as spicy as you would like, eat some of the condiments they have (jalapeno, carrots, onions, and cauliflower). My tacos turned out to be some sort if sliced fish sticks on a layer of veggies with 2 tortillas. Hey, it was okay for what I paid for...but otherwise I would have ordered something else. I consider this place as King Taco near Torrance! Their taco is very good. Since they open 24 hrs, you can come here to grab late night snacks with your friends or family. I tried different meat for their tacos, and all of them were very good! For the price, it is very cheap because per taco is between $1-2. However, if you order their plates, the plate is huge and the price is around $7-8. I recommend to get different tacos, and share with your company! Yelp! I have always trusted you to steer me in the right direction but you really messed up this time. I was craving fish tacos and stuck in the Torrance/Gardena area. I noticed Taco Sinaloa's high ratings and favorable notes about the fish tacos so I was sold on lunch here. I even talked my poor husband into coming with me. The fish tacos here are terrible. We had small little pieces of heavily breaded fish that could easily have been frozen fish sticks all fried up. They don't put crema on the fish tacos either. The salsa options are not very good. When we finished eating and went to clean our plates into the trash we found a huge pile of trash and uneaten food sitting all around the trash bin- no one had cleaned it in quite some time. If the food hadn't already put me off, I would have found this sight sickening. After a spontaneous trip to LA and Torrance, we decided to have a late dinner here before returning to Irvine. Definitely an authentic Mexican restaurant. I got tacos (carne asada and al pastor) and shared carne asada fries with my friend. The tacos were pretty good, while the carne asada fries could've been so mcuh better. They use crinkle cut fries--something I've never seen before. For us, we felt like the crinkle cut fries didn't go well with everything else and that it overpowered all of the other flavors. Restaurant didn't seem that clean and kind of had a grimy feel to it. Salsa bar could've been cleaner. It didn't impress me that much and all of the stuff didn't look that fresh.
