This place should be Michelin rated for best tacos in Austin. Taco Deli is consistently good and it doesn't matter which location you eat at or pick it up. My favorites are the Pollo Fantastico, the Vaquero, Freakin Vegan (I'm not even vegan!), and Frontera Fundido Sirloin. All their tacos are awesome and you can't go wrong. My number one question at all breakfast taco places is, "do you mix the bacon with the egg, or do you add a slice of bacon on top of the scrambled eggs?" I would say that the price does not match the taste at all. I ordered two Pollo Fantasticos and I was already amazed by the price. I like to have rice and beans with my tacos and that was a lot already as well. The food wasn't particularly flavorful, so I was pretty disappointed when I ordered and had to pay that much in price. If you are going to go, I'd make sure to get there pretty early before the lunch rush because you will be in a long line that will take a good chunk of time. Cute place located downtown with a different offering of tacos than your average bacon and egg. As a matter of fact they don't even offer bacon. I had the spinach cheese and egg taco along with the steak cheese and egg taco. I'm staying low carb so got it without the tortilla. They put it in neat little cups which allowed me to stay on plan. I had to stop by and see what all the hype was about. Maybe my expectations were set too high... I wanted to try The Otto since beans, bacon, and avocado sounded good together. What I got was a tortilla layered with beans that were dry and hard, some bacon, a little piece of avocado, and a tiny bit of cheese. Really enjoyed my meal here. I was visiting Austin and needed a quick bite. The online ordering was great. Very detailed and easy to make substitutions. When I got to the restaurant there was a short wait and my food was up. Tacos were great. A little heavy on the onion for me but still delicious. Queso was good. The Esquites which you can order after 11 was the highlight for me. They definitely don't skimp on the bacon. Overall it was delicious and filling. Staff was polite during pickup as well. I liked it, but I wanted to like it more. The major issue was the service. The cashier was very nice. I ordered my tacos and sat down. Their method for bringing food to you is to shout your name, which I think is not the most efficient idea. What about a buzzer? Shouting a number might even be better. My tacos themselves were pretty good. The chicken was itself not great - though the meat was tender, there was very little else going on in terms of flavors, and I wish they had more mushrooms, since it was advertised as containing sauteed mushrooms and I was READY for those. The taco bar was solid - the habanero was spicy as expected, and the salsa rojo had a nice smoky flavor, despite its very thin consistency. What bothers me is that my food came out about 15 minutes after my friend's. We had tacos, albeit different ones. I know items take varied times to cook, I do, but it could have been planned a bit better so that when we went to eat together we could...eat together. Many people got their food after me, and I did not order anything complicated. I finally went to another cashier to ask about my food status and did so in a nice way. He said it would be a "few more seconds" (it was a few minutes but not many). Then he brought the order to me and gave zero apology for the inconvenient delay. It's not a great way to get future customers. IDK...throw in an extra taco for the table, a guacamole, nothing crazy, but show you regret the error and want future business. Just tried for the first time and loved the breakfast tacos. Migas tacos was great with fresh and perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. Tough to do in a high volume environment and yet the eggs were light and fluffy. And the barbacoa, woof.... If that was tasty. Moist melt in your mouth and flavorful. It was suggested that the breakfast burritos in Austin are amazing. Although the ingredients were fresh and the peppers were crunchy I found that the eggs were not very good. We made a spontaneous decision to stop by here for some breakfast tacos (because is there a holier combination of words other than breakfast taco?) and were so pleased with all of our options. We got four different types of fillings and I didn't keep track of the names but we loved every single bite. I wanted more! It has a nice setup and I liked that you order at the front like a fast food meal (even though the quality was way above fast food.) The prices are reasonable (around 4$ a taco) but the tacos are pretty small. I got the pork belly and it was superb!!! One of the best tacos i've ever had. Unfortunately service was so terrible that I can't give this place more stars. The food was amazing! But when you wait 40 min for two tacos it doesn't really matter how good the food tastes. We had 3 separate orders in our group and we all ordered right after one another. The first order showed up after about 30 minutes. The second and third orders showed up after 40 minutes. Some of our plates had cold food so it was clear that those plates set in the back before being served. Besides the ridiculous wait, the portions for the price wasn't worth it in my opinion. Maybe my experience is rare and normally it's a super fast turn around (our cashier said it'd be 10 minutes) but unfortunately I don't think we will be back to test this theory. This is a great taco place if you like to get your taco fix. They have tacos for anyone and if you don't like the ones listed on menu, can make your own. They are a bit small do 2 or 3 tacos are good. I ordered vegan taco taco which came with fresh corn tortillas, refried black beans, pico de gallo. The Heather was for me. And of course a small Queso because I ran this morning and needed some melted cheese in my system. The little salsa cups are akin to baby shot glasses. They are lucky I don't live here: filled 6 cups. Nice touch: when your name is called to get your order, they repeat what you ordered. That way there is not a mistake. Delicious. Fresh ingredients. Tacos are as good as they are at any of their other location but the frontera fundido chicken or steak is still my go to favorite. The chips and queso aren't bad either if you are just looking for a snack. Only thing is the lunch crowd really makes it slow, so definitely would recommend ordering online for pickup if you come want to avoid the rush. read more

One Taco is around the corner or a million other nice taco spots. If you just eat here, show up over an hour before closing time or don't bother -- they won't. I showed up an hour before close and 30 min before and they were too busy cleaning and putting things away to help. Then, when o did get help, most items, like the drinks, salsa, or popular options were already put away. You might be able to tell this is a point of frustration for me. I ordered three lunch tacos - the pollo en mole, the cowboy, and the shrimposito. The pollo en mole was the best one. The cowboy was also very good and the beef was super tender. The shrimposito, however, was disappointing. It had three tiny little shrimp and a little slice of avocado. So stingy, especially for this one costing more. The tacos are pricy for how small they are, but overall they are pretty solid. Went for breakfast tacos & we were so disappointed to learn that they stop serving them at 11am (we were there at 11:15...Sad!!) But instead of leaving we decided to have regular tacos and we were pleasantly surprised! The tortillas were so soft & flavorful. The Queso was delicious (a little runny but still soooo good) and the meat was all good. I got one chicken, one beef, and the pork verde. All of them were good but if I was to rank them I would give 1st place to chicken. The pork & beef were about even for me--both good but not as good as the chicken. We were in Austin a couple of weeks ago, and our two goals for the trip were tacos and BBQ. We fly early and arrived in Austin around 9:30am. We checked our bags and hit the streets. We got a couple of good suggestions from the local maintenance guy at our hotel. We were walking all over. Found a couple of bars that we wanted to go to that evening. Before we knew it, it was 11am. We were hot, tired, and hungry. We saw one of the suggestions while exploring. We figured we would come back to it. Then, when we wanted to eat, we realized we got turned around and couldn't find it again. Tacodeli was like a lighthouse in the storm. We were starving! It looked a little cheesy from the outside. It's a chain, so we weren't expecting much. It wasn't very busy when we came in about 11:45. That changed quickly. So we ordered right away. I got my typical 3 tacos, pastor, chorizo, and steak/beef. My wife got the same. The chips came in a plastic bag, so I was a little scared. Needless to say, everything was great! The tacos were great. The chips in a plastic bag were fresh. The star of the show for me was the sauces. They were amazing! They had about a dozen of them. When we were leaving, about 12:15, the place was packed. Lots of locals/ downtown workers. Tacodeli seemed to be a favorite. I was too hungry to take pictures. We went back to our hotel and took a 3 hour nap. read more
