Tacos Don Carlos is so delicious. My favorite is the classic chicken tacos. He seasons the meat so well and it hits the spot every time. He's right on Soscol so it's super convenient and easy. Not only is the food great but he's a great human being who gives back to his community, through out the years he's donated food to people in need and in the past when we've had fires he's been there to support our community. We hired him to cater our wedding in 2021 and he was the star. Everyone LOVED their food, he had burritos, tacos and a quesadilla option. Everyone ate till they were full and years later people still talk about how great it was. As a vendor he was so gracious, kind, professional and prompt. We had another food truck and let's just say we did not get the same experience. After trying many of the trucks in the Napa valley, I have to say I like Tacos Don Carlos the best of all of them. The truck offers a lot of interesting combos with hot Cheetos and the like but I like to stick with the classics. A burrito with steak runs you around $11-12 and is absolutely huge, even bigger than chipotle. Inside are beans, onion, Spanish rice, crema, and your meat of choice (I usually prefer steak). What stands out was the flavor and texture of the rice which never disappoints and the meat as well which was tender and flavorful. Lovely taco stand on the corner of Soscol and Vallejo street ran by a husband and wife. A perfect sized menu that has a majority of classic tacos and burritos. They also have a hot Cheetos twist on pretty much all items! Very friendly and helpful people! There is a seating area of stools on the grass if you are just stopping by for that quick bite and want to enjoy some sunshine while you eat. Ordered a mulita, 2 keeto tacos, and a carne asada super burrito. All dishes were extremely flavorful, meat was tender, and the flour tortillas were aloft and fluffy! When I am in the area, I will be back. Those in the area, you have a gem hiding in plain site! Side note, I will definitely be full for about two days from their super burrito. Awesome little taco truck on Soscol. Grabbed 2 tacos for lunch - an asada hot Cheetos taco & a pastor vampiro. Both were huge and topped with so much meat and toppings. The hot Cheetos taco was definitely unique and both the asada and pastor meats were super flavorful. Ordering was easy and the tacos only took a few minutes to prepare. I've lived in Napa since I was 8 years old and I'm 26, I've eaten at almost every truck in Napa at least once and this is still the #1 spot that I frequent. Pastor is absolutely delicious, you can get anything on the menu and it's going to be good. I usually get a Super Burrito or Vampiros with Pastor, everything on them and hot with a pepper on the side. It's great every single time and everyone I introduce it to thinks the same. This is definitely the best taco truck in Napa. And I've tried them all including the local restaurants like Maria & pistola etc. I live in LA where tacos are king and this is the closest I've gotten to that or any SF mission quality food. The meats are incredibly flavorful, tender and have a tasty char on them from the grill. I don't know of any other trucks with a grill. That really sets Don apart right there. The portions are great an generous. See the pics of my chicken burrito the size of my arm! Their red sauce is awesome too. The marinade on the meats is also unique to this truck and keeps it very tender. A lot of trucks serve it to dry. They can pile on the onion & cilantro on the tacos. You know what it's like when you find a great tasting place to go to right? I found mine here. In a city with a lot of mediocre Mexican food don carlos gets it right every night. All hail the Don! Visiting Napa from Portland, OR with my wife and son on a post-pandemic road trip. We were looking to save a few bucks on lunch so we could afford the post-pandemic wine prices. TCD had 5 stars here so we walked 2 miles to get there (after a 10 mile run). I asked for chef's choice and got 2 delightful al pastor tacos on excellent legit corn tortillas. My wife had the vampiros and felt same. Son had the veggie burrito and enjoyed but it was "standard veggie burrito", however, it was not on the menu and the owner graciously whipped it up custom for him. This stretch of Soscol has many taco truck offerings but Yelp steered us right on this one. High marks! read more

I think there's a battle to see who's the best taco truck in Napa right now. There are so many new taco trucks here now and Tacos Don Carlos is flexing on all of them, they are the kings! The food is excellent and very tasty. You got your 1$ tacos or go a little pricier and get some handmade tortilla tacos which I definitely recommend for the best experience! The meats are good, every condiment is fresh as well as the salsas. They also have special items on the menu sometimes like the 'California Burrito' or the 'Puerco Burrito' which is a burrito wrapped in bacon! How about that! They also have a hot cheeto burrito so if you're into that ask about it! They offer tacos, burritos, vampiros, and everything else you get from any other taco truck. Carlos the owner is a great host and welcoming. Orders can be made through phone or text also. Coming from an hispanic family I can say the food is authentic and made very well. I would definently recommend stopping by for lunch or just to grab a bite. Don't judge a book by its cover . This place has some really good looking food. Had to try it. 23 dollars for a super burrito with Cheetohs and a steak quesadilla. Super Burrito with Cheetohs- huge!! Kinda more rice then needed but the flavor wasn't just there. Meat tasted decent but that was about it.. had no kick or , mmmmmmh, factor. Rice was okay, meat was flavorful, Cheeto tasted stale. A little on the dryer side. Quesadilla , a little better flavor cause i think the cheese helped a lot with the flavorful meat, but it was small. Size of a medium/tortilla wrap folded in half, so took small tray to hold it cause it was cut in half . Added lime which was a good taste to it. Extra salsa please ? During the order I requested extra green salsa. When I received it, there was 2 small greens salsas in the burrito bag. I looked with the quesadilla tray and there was no salsa, I had to explain I wanted extra salsa and they said there was 2 in the bag. I told them that's for the burrito, can I get some for the quesadilla .. they didn't seem happy to give away 2 extra little sauces . Which the green sauce was spicy but really no flavor . I was juiced to try it but maybe next time. A friend sent me a pic of his Cheeto sprinkled burrito , looked bomb, and he didn't want to believe me, so he tried and and stated it was "dry and needed sauce". Delicious! I tried the Flamin Cheeto taco steak $4 but well worth it! The green salsa adds extra flavor! The other two are alpastor and chorizo. Still delish! Keep in mind these two are made with mini tortillas so you might want to get more than 2! read more

Did want to give an update the Don did raise his prices for his menu by a couple dollars. Did try the bacon wrapped burrito that first bite was omg amazing bite from heaven, the bacon had rendered into both the tortilla and rice. But were the bacon was wrapped on top of the other bacon it was raw , and prevented the bacon from rendering more than tortilla deep. This did add another complexity of flavor and texture, but I did have to remove more than half the bacon and at 15 dollars it missed the mark. Improve on the wrapping it will solve all the issues and if it renders into the rice for the entire burrito and no raw bacon I would convert to this burrito as my mainstay. I love this s truck!!!! Against my husbands and my own advice we went to it a bit late and had the choice between La Pastor or steak for the super burrito we like to share. We chose the LaPastor and asked for the spiciest sauce they had. It was pretty amazing like the beef or chicken. The spicy played well off the meat. My only complaint was the sauce was cold and everything else was warm. The contrast was just not what I was expecting and didn't affect the flavor or quality of the food. The only thing actually inside this burrito is 80% rice.. 20% everything else (and that was mainly just bean) and we had asked for everything on it.
