One of my favorite places. Delicious horchata and all the food is amazing. Their seafood cocktail is the best in town.

This star rating is incorrect!! This place has horrible service, they are terribly slow and after a long wait for something as simple as a burrito, the food is served cold. Our order was wrong-- after bringing this to the attention of the waitress, she took the burrito back and never returned with another. After about 10 minutes of patiently waiting for the burrito we actually ordered we finally asked the waitress where our food was as she looked at us as if we were from Mars! Not only had they not started on our food they had no intentions on it at all. We politely asked for our money back including the extra money you pay to guacamole and sour cream and she fought us on giving us the money back. It was ridiculous-- after she unwillingly gave us our money back, we politely left the place....this place has the worst customer service ever BEWARE! read more

This little spot was an awesome find. They serve up some of the best style street tacos with fresh salsa and radishes. I loved their meat selections. Very tasty shredded chicken, steak, chorizo, birra (goat meat), lengua (tongue), pork belly. At such a great price the street tacos, you could order 10 of them ;) I've gone back twice now since ive discovered this spot. read more

I felt like there was way too much salt on my burrito not sure if it was the beans or the rice but way too much salt .

Came for the tacos, returned for the sea food. Everthing I've tried is excellent. There is a huge menu, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's a LA taco shop with higher quality food, and nicer decor. Bottled beer, a soda fountain, and good ice tea. Their seafood cocktail is the bomb. Get the large, because it is delicious, and half the price as it would be in LA. Enjoy! read more

This place is the WORST Mexican spot in South Reno! They get orders wrong constantly and use the cheapest chewy meat. No one has customer service skills here. Went back to ask for more cheese and they said 1.50$ WTF read more

I have been waiting for this place to open as it is close to my work. Stopped in at lunch the other day and had a carne asada taco and carnitas burrito. Both were pretty good if not especially noteworthy. All in all fairly pedestrian food but the service was quick and friendly which means a lot at lunch time and I will definitely head back there and try some of the other options. read more

We used to come here often...but I won't be coming here after my experience last night. When I bit into my burrito, it had glass shards or meth crystals in it...it's Reno so it can honestly be either one. Also, there was a huge ass piece of sharp bone in the burrito. SHADY RESTAURANT. The cashier said no dogs allowed (when my service animal had a vest and a badge). I said he's a service animal and she said well there's still no dogs allowed. I was like well that's illegal? She said well if someone complains I'll ask you to leave (can't do that unless animal is misbehaving which he wasn't). My animal is certified and well behaved he was causing no problems. Already REPORTED them to the ADA Justice Bureau, trying to kick my animal out was a federal offense. The best Mexican "Jalisco style" food in town! Visiting family from LA and this restaurant I can say is better and more authentic then any Mexican restaurant out in LA hands down! Went there for the first time today and it's now one of my favorite spots for tacos. I got the enchilada combo with rice and beans plus 5 tacos on the side. This was our first visit to Tacos El Rey. I don't think I have seen another Mexican restaurant with a vertical roaster for al pastor. This was a bonus for sure. I have tacos al pastor and it was very good, again carved right off the spit. Jill had shredded beef flautas and made a comment about how the meat was tender, not tough and stringy. Overall this place was "meh". My husband and I went here on a whim. When we first walked in no one even acknowledged us. Which customer service is a big factor when we try places. We sat down to eat and they brought out chips and salsa. This was my favorite part of my whole meal (hubby thought it was on the spicy side). The horchata was very sweet! So, if you like that, it's good for you. I ordered the three tacos and he ordered the one taco and two enchiladas. He actually said that the enchiladas tasted like they were days old (very dry).We both agreed the asasda was the way to go if you do get something from there. Ordered 4 different tacos so I could try the different meats. Asada, chorizo, lengua and cabeza. The asada and chorizo had good flavor, the lengua and cabeza were a bit bland to me. I had to add salt and lots of salsa but they were cooked very well. Service was a bit unorganized but we did go with a large group so we probably just threw them for a loop. All in all it was a good food and I would go back to try more things. read more

Yahooooo, another great spot closer to home ! I love visiting new places to eat. I was sad to see that the deli wasn't there anymore, but excited to see Tacos El Rey moved in ! We went right at lunch time on a Saturday and boy oh boy, they were packed ! It was nice and clean and the staff was friendly enough but I have to admit I was a little upset trying to place my order, I do not speak Spanish and she wasn't understanding our questions, we had to point out our order on the to go menu. It looked liked grandma was cooking everything from scratch. The food was excellent, made to order and fresh. My sister got the chicken tacos a la cart and it was stacked with so much, she could of made two more! My order was wrong, I ordered two shrimp tacos a la cart but was given a fish tacos meal instead and it was served with rice and beans, but damn, it was really good, now I know to order fish tacos next time!! All in all, I will definitely go there again, even if there is a language barrier it's definitely worth a visit!! I wish I could speak Spanish !! read more

Absolutely love the new location, same great food as the others but much more open and comfortable to sit down and enjoy your meal. Enjoyed some Asada tacos and an Asada tostada, the tacos were great but would have liked the tostada to have more beans and less lettuce. It seemed as though the lettuce was the "star". Service was great, the employees checked in to make sure everything was good and ensure my needs were met. read more

I come here pretty often and the food is always amazing. Although the portion sizes aren't that big, the prices are small. I always go with the flautas because they are packed with lettuce, tomato, cotija cheese, and salsa. The restaurant itself is small but clean. Staff is nice and quick to order. My only gripe is that they don't have a proper ordering system and all the prices are put in by hand. It seems that sometimes they overcharge for items twice. It's not too bad, but it is something you should notice when ordering. The location is convenient as it is next to many stores in a small shopping center. When in the mood for good Mexican food, Tacos El Rey is an awesome pick. read more

Had breakfast there this morning and asked for a egg and chorizo breakfast burrito. There was no egg, onion cheese or clintro. I ask the clerk where the eggs were and she said the cook put in two eggs .. there was no eggs in this breakfast burrito.. will never go there again... read more

I had the seafood ceviche it was awesome! It comes in small,medium,large I ordered the medium And two Leguna tacos ( also awesome) and my favorite Michelada I can't say enough. IMHO better than Casa Grande 2 read more
