Asada tacos with all the fixings

10/10 delicious and the friendliest staff ever. They accept Apple Pay and service is fast.

    Tacos: $1.25 each

The strip of East LA surrounding Olympic Blvd is known primarily for seafood tacos thanks to Mariscos Jalisco and others, but what's less known is the fact that you've got a surprisingly bustling traditional street taco scene that comes alive late at night. I decided to hit three of these highly reviewed spots in a single night and line them up in a heads up review. Tacos El Pecas v. Tacos Los Gueros v. Los Originales Tacos Arabes de Puebla Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? El Pecas and Los Gueros are pretty similar in that they're traditional trucks with some fixings set out, and while Tacos Arabes stood out in that it was clear that an entire family was running the show, everyone was just about equal here. Some people get a bit spooked by this part of town at night, and if that's the case I'd recommend Tacos El Pecas. Tacos El Pecas: Star (1) Tacos Los Gueros: Star (1) Los Originales Tacos Arabes: Star (1) Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? You've got slightly different offerings and price points across these three taco spots. El Pecas offers mini tacos for $1.00 each, which is nice if you want some variety. Los Gueros offers standard street tacos for $1.25 each, and Tacos Arabes offers some great specialty tacos for either $2.00 or $4.00 with portions matching and exceeding the price. Good stuff all around. Tacos El Pecas: Star (2) Tacos Los Gueros: Star (2) Los Originales Tacos Arabes: Star (2) Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? It's here that the men really stood out from the boys. I liked the tacos at El Pecas. You had good but not great heated tortillas, decent meats, and a suitable mix of salsas that brought everything together. In contrast, Los Gueros must have been having an off night, because the tortillas were wet and soggy, the meats were either overcooked (pastor) or undercooked (carne asada), and the salsas were just okay. Tacos Arabes blew both out of the water, with excellent Arabe and Cecina tacos that were fantastically unique. There's a great story behind Los Originales Tacos Arabes on Netflix's 'Ugly Delicious' that I won't go into, but needless to say these were very, very good with a great almost Middle Eastern flair. Tacos El Pecas: Single Star (3) Tacos Los Gueros: Single Star (2) Los Originales Tacos Arabes: Dual Stars (4) Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Los Originales Tacos Arabes was the clear winner here, and it's where you should go if you're in the area at night. Having said that, none of these taco spots really competed with some of my established favorites in town ranging from Sonoratown to White Boy Tacos. Tacos El Pecas: No Star (3) Tacos Los Gueros: No Star (2) Los Originales Tacos Arabes: No Star (4)

Al pastor and chorizo. Yes get the beans.

As an outsider just visiting let me start off by saying, all of you locals are spoiled when it comes to great tacos - with that out of the way, lets get started. Working in a privately own taco shop in Puerto Vallarta Mexico when I was 16 under the watchful eye of, Socorro - my boss - complimented my tastebuds with some knowledge of what goes into a persuasive taco. The meat, salsas, garnishes, tortilla, even the ambience it creates all moils together to make sure that when you bite into that taco, more bits are to follow. Soon you'll find yourself bragging to family, friends, sightseers about a place you found, that they need to checkout for themselves to believe. I was the sightseer in this situation if you haven't gathered by know. The driver who gave us a Lyft back to our place after a long day at Disneyland asked us the usual questions in similar situations, and food spots was one of topics we tapped into. He gushed about this taco spot he knew, so before we parted ways we made sure to get the name so we could hunt it down for ourselves. After a quick search on Yelp it was a treat to know it was only a quick 5 min drive from our location. From the moment you walk in the smell and ambiance both make sure to let you know what this place is about. It mostly caters to the hard working folk who come out once the city starts getting settled in for the night, on the hunt for a good meal for a decent price. If you're one of the outliers, just on the hunt for a good taco like me, then you have struck gold. I got two al pastors and two chorizo and was pleasantly surprised to see they weren't soaked in grease. The salas will sting, but that's exactly what you should expect from a great taco spot. Overall, I highly recommend this place, on every level it was everything that it should be; delicious.

We waited patiently for about 10 minutes because we assumed he might be busy. Since he still didn't respond, we decided to just leave. What made the situation worse was that as soon as we stepped away, he immediately helped the person behind us. That felt very disrespectful, especially since we had been patient the whole time and were not rude at all. It's really disappointing because we actually love the tacos here. They're estilo Jalisco, which is where we're from, so we were excited to eat here. Unfortunately, the bad service alone was enough to ruin the experience. Very disappointing, and we won't be returning.

The people here are very friendly and helpful. And there's some apple seating area, especially since it wasn't super busy. I did come on a late weekday night though. Of course I ordered the pezcuesos de pollo. The price were very reasonable. I got it to go because I was on my way home. As mentioned by other Yelper(s), this taco trunk can be found parked in front of the LAC USC Medical Center building. In fact, I remember seeing more than 1 trucks available, but this white Buenos Tacos (easy to remember) truck is the only one that opens late and on the weekend. But please don't quote me on this. They offer tacos, quesadias, burritos, and tortas, but I am only interested in tacos usually. Regular tacos cost $1.25 each, while tacos de lengua cost $1.50 each. I recommend opting for regular ones, as you can get 4 for $5, no change, no mess. I am not even sure why lengua costs more, or if lengua actually tastes better. Shrug. I got cabeza and pastor to go. The cook was very speedy in cooking, and packed everything in foil for me to keep them warm. Limes was cut up and put in a separate bag for convenience. Both tasted very good! Now, if you cannot handle spicy, you may wanna let him know ahead of time, because after eating all 4, my eyes and nose were runny, and my oral cavity in general was burning. It's a delicious kinda burn, but I could do without it. I also enjoyed the toppings such as cilantro, onion, etc. Get everything on it. I didn't regret it at all for doing so! Specifically, cabeza was visibly more fatty but I liked it that way--it was super yummy. Pastor in comparison was drier, but still very well marinated. They tasted good enough, and were cheap enough, for me to come back and try for more. I'll update you guys if I ever buy their other options: azada, chorizo, pollo, and buche. (Btw, all spelling is per menu on the truck. Some look kinda funky, but I don't speak Spanish, so what do I know.)
