If i could rate them less than 1 star I would. They cancelled on my party last minute. We were already on the way when they cancelled. They said our party was too big but we had 11 guests , which their listing says 11 guests allowed. However they said that their additional rules (which were harder to find) listing only allows 8 adults 2 children. They urged me to cancel my booking. So that their reviews would not get affected but our reservation was non refundable due to it being the same day of check in. Also they insisted that I book on their website directly to "avoid third party fees" . But if you view their listings their prices were more expensive! updated: Tahoe getaways is saying we are stating lies however they forget to note that we booked 11 people initially as per recommendation of Airbnb. (We called Airbnb for assistance with booking noting our occupancies) Tahoe Getaways then approved AND sent thier rental agreement for us to sign. THEN proceeded to say that we overbooked and we should cancel. SHORTLY AFTER THEY STATED THEY PULLED THE WRONG LISTING. please note the over occupancy they then tried to argue was that 11 adults and 1 child was over occupancy. But the child was less than a year old, which is listed on airbnb that infants are not included. read more

We rented the 675 West Property in North Tahoe being managed by Tahoe Getaways for a birthday retreat. There was a rat infestation in the property and the Tahoe Getaways manager Sophie was most unhelpful. Half of the guests went back to San Francisco while the remainder of us slept in our SUV. Upon inspection of the property ourselves and speaking to neighbors and consulting Lakeside Termite and Pest Control, we realized this was a recurring theme with 675 West that the Tahoe Getaways management continues to overlook despite repeated concerns. Really sad to have to write this review. I am sure the owners of this home are lovely people. They deserve better and Tahoe Getaways was a poor choice for their lovely property. read more

Very disappointed in how they handled our stay there. We booked them through Airbnb and I've never had such a bad host experience before. The driveway was impossible to pass due to a design flaw - this was despite us having chains on the car wheel. When they came by to help - not out of goodness, but because they had a complaint that our car wasn't properly parked -the attitude of their service staff was inflexibility and accusations that we were to blame for parking improperly. I want to emphasize that this is a problem which would not have happened had the driveway been well and safely designed - something we repeatedly stressed because we were driving with multiple young children. In addition, their promise to provide a stopgap solution never materialized. This company later the cheek to charge us a couple hundred extra for coming down to help us move our vehicles over a driveway that we physically could not cross safely. We refused to pay the full amount. We had video evidence to back us up that the driveway was not reasonably passable. Post-trip, I discovered the poor reviews they had on various online platforms. Everything made sense, as this is a pattern of behavior. Hence, I will never in good conscience recommend this company EVEN THOUGH the property itself was satisfactory. I cannot condone poor customer service and a lack of solution mindset. read more

Tahoe Getaways has definitely made this reservation easy from beginning to end. They also have an amazing respond team if any questions or concerns we had. The home was incredible with spectacular views. It was cozy and had all the amenities listed and ready to use. We were very close to downtown and enjoyed a day out shopping and eating. Luxury homes - third class management! Gaslighting and incompetent customer service, BUT that's not all... It gets wrose..! My family and I stayed at one of the properties near carnelian bay mid December. We were excited to have a hot tub at our rental, and a comfortable home to stay in while we visited friends in the area. Our first two nights, we learned our house thermostat was LOCKED at 55degrees! Every time we tried to raise the temperature, it would automatically be reset to 55degrees. The outside temps were in the low 20's! It was freezing to say the least! Once we addressed this issue, the "customer service" rep shared with us that the owner had set it, and they needed to get in touch with him. They totally didn't prep for this house to be ready! As our stay progressed and once we got some HEAT in the house, we tried using the hot tub, which the temp of the tub would not increase from preset 80degrees. On top of the temp not moving up, there was a considerable amount of debris and trash in the tub! I actually called a week prior to ask about the cleanliness of the tub. The "customer service" rep shared with me every tub gets cleaned before every new arrival. Yea, ok!! Of the least of our issues, the driveway was totally unsafe, and impassable. Now, we did reserve a Ford Explorer from our rental company which had 4wheel drive, and we could barley get up the driveway. I had requested someone to add some dirt, and they never showed! Talk about gaslighting. We were told no one else would come to help - as they were getting ready for a busy X-mass week! Additionally, we could not access the garage - as the garage door clicker didn't work! Here's the CRAZY part - Tahoe Getaways wants to compensate me, but the stipulation in their "Release document" which is a legal document basically says "The settlement agreement prohibits you from making any disparaging remarks about Tahoe Getaways".. READ THE LOW REVIEWS.. it's bound to happen to you! I only wished I had done so. - Total classless group of folks running the show here. I want to warn property owners to avoid using this team. We were in a 4 bedroom home that had 2 bathrooms. The jet bathtub on the 2nd floor was leaking downstairs INTO the kitchen downstairs through the recessed lighting. We think because the jet seals in the bathtub were failing. We stopped and drained the water immediately. No water was outside the tub. It was leaking through the tub itself. We called the emergency line to let the property management team know this in detail. They never came to the property during our stay because they claimed that "it wasn't a big issue for us". Did they come to take care of the property? No. Did they compensate us for now being in a 4 bedroom home with 1 bathroom? No. But more importantly, whether or not it was supposedly important to us or not, they wouldn't think to come out to even check on a major leak that could lead to major mold damage or electrical issues? Even after we left the property, they never contacted us afterwards to bother investigating it further. Days later, when we asked if we could receive any form of compensation, they claimed that they didn't see the issue. (Without even asking us for help in diagnosing it? Open and shut case, Johnson!) I am SO sorry for the owner that this will be hidden from them. If you are the owner of a home near Spindleshacks near King Beach, please contact me because I am worried for your home. A reasonable business would read the scenario and be proactive about either protecting the property and compensating for a poor experience. If you are are a property owner, you should NOT use this team to manage your property. They will let tenants live in your home and not bother come to inspect it on your behalf despite reported water leaking through the 2nd floor, through recessed lights, and into your kitchen. Disappointed in this property management company to try to save money to either fix things or compensate a tenant, and disappointed for the owner of the home that they would risk his/her property to do so. read more

You have to believe the bad reviews on Yelp. They were the worst rental company we have ever worked with. Jenn and Cynthia on their team need to listen to the feedback from the community. If you got so many complaints regarding your policies and practices, you should listen and figure out what needs to change. Wildfire and covid impact other businesses as well, but I noticed that other rental companies seem to be able to manage the current climate much better and keep their customers happy. Renters beware - even though their team tried to respond and make excuses to every bad review, you know there must be some truth to it. If you read about their responses, clearly this company takes no accountability. They just politely and passive-aggressively blamed the issues on their customers. Zero star. I am sure they will respond to my review with a well written but full of excuses/explanations type of statement to distract future home owners and renters. I wish I had read the reviews for Tahoe getaways before I rented this house through VRBO. I normally avoid businesses with 3.5 stars for obvious reasons. The house was beautiful and as described. Thats the good. Now here's the bad: It became clear to me about a week before our stay that we were going to have problems with the wildfire smoke so I called Tahoe Getaways to see what my options might be. They reminded me that it's non refundable however they could move my reservation out up to 60 days. They tacked on a $208 item on the contract for "TG Worry Free Guarantee" (without telling me by the way) and this was insurance which would allow me to move the 60 days. I can't organize a family gathering that quickly so that option was of no use to me. I would have passed on it it if I had known it was in there. My bad for signing a non refundable contract for this house and of course this week thick wild fire smoke blew into Truckee along with 90 degree temperatures. Like most houses in the area it has no AC. So we can't hang out in the house with the windows closed as it hit 90 degrees in the house and we can't open the windows or the house fills with smoke. This house is uninhabitable under these conditions but the fact that I actually couldn't use the house made no difference to them. We decided to go and see how it went, maybe the smoke would clear. It didn't, it got worse. We made it for half of our stay and went home. When I called to check out early they apologized and offered me a 10% discount for my next stay (which they offer to all returning customers) I complained by email when I got home. Here's their answer... "Unfortunately fires and smoke have become common in this area around this time of year and the heat has been unseasonably hot which are both out of our control as we spoke about.  Again I am sorry to hear that your vacation did not quite live up to what you were hoping, we are still happy to offer a discount on your next stay if things change." Really? Miserable conditions for a vacation and they kept every penny of our money including the useless insurance. I'm out $6700 for an uninhabitable house. Under the circumstances I think a little more flexibility from a customer service standpoint would have been appropriate. oh well... live and learn. Unless you want to take a chance that you might end up with a house you can't use.. Do yourself a favor and rent from another outfit. read more

My family and I booked a house through Tahoe Getaways in January 2023 for our annual ski vacation in December 2023, almost an entire year in advance of our holiday. The day we arrived, 3 hours before check-in they called us and told us that the house that we booked was under construction and "uninhabitable". We planned our vacation far in advance exactly to avoid stress like this and now my family and I had to scramble to find another house to stay for the week. They said they would email us with other house options, which is definitely not an urgent response to the situation we found ourselves in. Luckily, we were able to quickly find another house through Tahoe Luxury Properties where we had a wonderful and seamless experience. PRETTY PICTURE, BUT.....!: I have never taken the time to give a bad review, but be warned about this place. Overall cleanliness was below standard and the home is very poorly maintained. A game piece was dropped and went under the couch. We moved the couch to retrieve it and found an old mouldy sock with loads of dirt. It is an expensive rental. We saved up and paid for this to give our family a wonderful experience. 4 full bathrooms were promised and needed. Two of the four showers had damaged or non working doors so we shared the other two bathrooms. I am only mentioning a few things. The final straw came when the gas stove spontaneously had an electric explosion that belched smoke from beneath the stove. We left next morning, a day early. The rental agency was not helpful in resolving this to my satisfaction. They require I sign an agreement to not do what I am doing right now (this review) to pay any refund. Their refund offer was resistant and insufficient. I do not recommend this home or Tahoe Getaways at all! read more

We rented thru VRBO and got this company as the management. The house was horribly overpriced and poorly equipped. The toilet paper and paper towels were beyond cheap. The pillows were old and stunk. 20 year old tvs with vcrs? Very misrepresented for the price I should have read these reviews. Their responses to complaints speaks volumes. When you are paying top dollar for a vacation rental you shouldn't have to contact management for anything? We stayed here in a gorgeous property in Carnelian Bay in mid-May. We stayed in a very large house with 5 bedrooms and 5 full baths. The house was extremely well-appointed, including furniture, kitchen equipment, deck furniture, etc . We were a group of 8 long time friends, celebrating my 70th birthday. We enjoyed cooking together in the large and fully-stocked kitchen. Every bedroom was beautiful. The house was immaculate. Any concerns we had were immediately responded to by Tahoe Getaways. When my husband and I found out that we had to postpone our trip to Tahoe due to shutdowns we were so worried that we wouldn't be able to rebook our stay. We rented a "lake front" Sky Rock property which ended up being a peek of the lake thru beautiful trees. The hike to the lake requires someone who has no disabilities and can do a pretty steep uphill climb to the house. We paid $2,000 more than our original pick at Dollar Point from advise of Getaways to be on the water explaining I had kids and wanted easy access. This was very far from the truth. Be sure to do your investigating and ask lots of questions. The home is large, oddly laid out with a small kitchen then a butlers kitchen. The wonderful antique stove is a challenge to get a burner on. If you want to shower it's planned with one at a time or you will have no hot water. Same with dishwasher and washer. One at a time. I was very surprised at the dirty pots and pans left and waffle maker needs to be replaced it's filthy. We couldn't get our car out of the garage several times the doors wouldn't open when we had a expensive boat rental it was a stressful half hour. The weight room is the size of a closet with a few gym pieces. Pool is full of small kids which is great if you have them. Eat outdoors before dark or bugs will make that impossible. Lucky we learned that early! I'm guessing the house is so dark to prevent bugs inside. The large wrap around deck is amazing and just needs a good hosing once a week to maintain dust. It is a wonderful charming home, even with the shower handle following off in my hands we grew to love it. In desperate need of new cooking ware and some basic TLC. We miscommunication on our departure but swiftly paced up and we're out in a hour. You do have some work at check out, stripping beds and running dishwasher and washing machine . Not a huge deal. We only used two of the beds during our stay. Not many shades work making ventilation a problem because you can't get windows open. Their is a pier but absolutely no beach. A larger pier is down by the pool and my son had fun swimming to a small dock on the lake. Yet we still loved the space and the quiet despite the neighbors dog out and barking at 630am. Our entertainment came from zip lining, boat rental, paddle boarding and Kings Beach. Leave very early in July to park. Our first experience of renting a house vs staying at a resort. The staff at Getaways are very nice and helpful. Did we get taken on a water front property absolutely without a doubt. Getaways app site very helpful and they respond quickly to questions or troubles. I'm sorry if you felt a sting but we didn't mention half of our issues with the property. The master bathroom as you will, has a broken stopper in the sink and the water doesn't drain. It was lucky we didn't flood the bathroom! We wanted a family vacation not one with your maintainer man. Please, have someone check the things I have listed. At 7,000 a week I expected a bit more. Especially for the kids to be safe was a huge let down for our family. The path up to the house is barely visible from the road. It sounds like no one has inspected this home for a while. My concern was alerted when we saw how old your positive reviews were. We had hoped to enjoy a clean kitchen at the very least . Old and charming we love but it has to be at least with clean cooking ware. Three stars was very generous. read more

We had several mouse encounters and the company vacillated between saying (paraphrasing) "there are mice around here, deal with it," and insinuating that we made it up because they didn't see any when their pest control people visited briefly. I understand we are in Lake Tahoe and there is wildlife but that doesn't mean we should be okay with mice jumping out at us from our luggage and when we open doors to rooms or closets MULTIPLE TIMES in one evening. Obviously there is a flaw somewhere in the property that allows these mice to keep invading the place. Ridiculously, we had to take video and close up photos of said mice for a PARTIAL refund through AirBnB. My husband and I didn't go there to run after mice and catch them (I attached a photo of him holding only ONE of the mice we encountered that he somehow managed to capture and release outside). The only reason I took this photo is because of the management company implying that we made it all up. If I could give them zero stars I would. We've rented homes from Tahoe Getaways and have a vacation rental managed by them. and they are by far the best rental management company we've worked with. Our first rental was a ski lease in a beautiful home located in Old Greenwood. The home was gorgeous, well maintained, but most importantly, the Tahoe Getaways team was amazing. We were new at signing a ski lease and Beth was so helpful and also patient as I asked a zillion questions about the rental home and the lease terms. We appreciated the touches and services that TG, as a professional management company, provided: a 24 hour on call agent (who responded immediately to an 8pm service call); advice on selecting the best home for our needs - we had three young children and wanted a child safe home that was spacious enough to invite up friends; and housekeeping service during our stay. We were so pleased with our experience, that when we eventually purchased a vacation home, we hired TG to manage it. We have now worked with them for over eight years and it has simply been a delight. A testament to owner Jim's management, is the tenure of his team. We've been interfacing with many of the same folks for years: Beth, Amber, Luke, Jesi, Alfonso, Sarah, Cynthia, Brian, Scott, Stephen - they've all been professional, responsive and wonderful to work with. This was the worst experience ever. From the staff at Tahoe Getaways to the pictures of the property located at 8726 Brockway Vista, Kings Beach. The staff is nice UNTIL they snag you for $ 16,000.00 plus for an old run down house that when you entered was dirty beyond belief. They do not visit the homes to make sure that they are in presentable condition and that the things in the houses are working properly. Our refrigerator was very dirty, and it froze all of our fresh food. The rest of the house was dirty beyond the normal "dirty". All these people want is "money". They do not care about how the property is working. All of the TV's were not working when we first arrived. They wasted our time making us try to fix them. I don't care if the house was $ 1,000.00 for the week, it was totally unacceptable. When we left, we were offered our money back for the cleaning and that was all. When I asked where it was, I was told that since I was going to do a review, they were worried that it could be bad publicity so therefore they were not going to give it back to us. They, Tahoe Getaways, and the homeowner, should be ashamed of themselves for putting this up for rent and for the way it was when we moved in. The pictures on their website show a different image. Buyer beware! Do not use Tahoe Getaways and do not stay at this property. It is a total RIP OFF! read more

I was staying on the first floor of a two story + loft unit and, a few hours into my stay, I saw a mouse running out of the bedroom in which I was supposed to be sleeping and then saw it run into a closet. A second mouse then jumped out of my unzipped suitcase, at which point I did not feel comfortable staying on that floor of the home anymore. We called both Tahoe Getaways and Airbnb right after these incidents for assistance. By the time that either place got back to us, it was already late on Friday evening, so it was difficult and inconvenient to find another place to stay. Those of us meant to stay on the first floor in bedrooms had to find alternative sleeping arrangements. We also all had trouble sleeping knowing there were mice around. I was disappointed that Tahoe Getaways did not seem to believe our complaint and required us to provide pictures of the mice. We did not want to get close enough to these mice again to take pictures. We actually did end up seeing more mice again the next day and got pictures and videos then. Overall, the experience working with Tahoe Getaways and Airbnb was unpleasant to say the least. They seemed to bounce us back and forth between each other without providing any real solution. Tahoe Getaways did send pest control out on Saturday morning, which we appreciated, but when we saw mice again on Saturday night and reached out to the management company about the continuation of mice, they pushed back . We also found a pest control card from two weeks prior, indicating this was a known issue. We seem to have gotten some money back for the place (through Airbnb), which is also appreciated, but it is unfortunately way too little too late. I understand that mice can be a problem in Tahoe, but that doesn't mean customers don't deserve respect, immediate responses to these types of issues, and pest free properties. read more
