Tail O' the Pup is iconic. If you love hotdogs, this is the place for you. And me. I shared the following: -1946 pup ($7.95): split + grilled pup, toasted bun, grilled onions, house mustard -chili cheese fries ($7.95): nacho cheese, shredded cheese, raw onions + chili -mini corn dogs Ngl, I was not into the 1946 pup. I felt the grilled pup was a tad too beefy for my liking. The raw onions really enhanced the flavor of the hotdog, and while I'm usually down for that, my palette wasn't vibing with it this time around. However! I freaking loved the mini corn dogs. The batter was batter-ing and dipped in mustard, they made for the most perfect bite. Order anything and top it with chili. I'm almost sure it'll be tasty. My chili cheese fries were elite. I loved that they use both nacho and shredded cheese to create a nice cheesy contrast. The chili was perfectly salty and topped on a bed of crispy fries - top tier chili fries. They also serve alcohol if that suits your midafternoon snack needs. Highly recommend. Tail O'the Pup is so kitschy fun. I love it.

We saw tail o the pup listed as one of LA's best hot dogs so we had to check it out. The place has a 1950s decor and indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter and they have self serve free style coke machines where you can pick any type of soda and syrup. The pickel barrel outside has a button where you can press and talk to the host and get upstairs to the speakeasy tiki bar, if you are curious what is hiding upstairs. The food came out fast and the hot dog was delicious. I had the Chicago dog with fries and a drink. The hot dog bun was soft and eggy. The place wasn't very busy so it was easy to find seats. The ice cream floats looked good and they also had a lot of canned alcohol drinks available which would be fun to try next time. Their hot dogs were really tasty with great snap and were the star of the meal.

This is my favorite place to take my son to have a really awesome hot dog, fries, the whole deal. The staff is awesome -- super friendly and reliable. My kid loves coming here! Also -- it doesn't hurt to be eating at a historic building. I love bringing my fam when they're here from out of town to show off where Jim Morrison recorded (in the bathroom!) The speak easy is also a fun perk. I haven't been yet, but it seems amazing. Aside from just being a favorite neighborhood spot, the hot dogs are as "snappy" as they say. Better than pinks, rivaling Nathan's (for those of you from the East Coast)

I've been wanting to try this LA landmark and finally got the chance earlier today. We arrived right at noon when they opened and ordered two Chicago dogs and a hotdog for our wiener dog, plus a coke. Damn good hotdog and it looked like Edwin enjoyed his dog as well. Very cute and retro interior and seating. We were the first customers of the day but the place was filling up quickly when we left. Highly recommend!! I will be back to try some other menu items and maybe buy a shirt as a souvenir.

Where to begin? First and foremost I want to say that the lovely young lady at the counter was very warm and friendly. She was eager to help whenever she could. That was the best way to start this experience. Now I had the Chicago Pup which I truly enjoyed but it seemed a little less after biting into the jumbo corn dog. The batter was extremely flavorful and had a great texture. One of the best I have had and I will have again. As for their chili, it had a great flavor and with the perfectly fried spuds it was amazing. I had two issues during my visit. One was I didn't like mustard being in the chili dog and two the soda mix that was a bit off. It won't keep me from going back at all. Thank you Tail of the Pup for a great meal!

Had the wonderful pleasure of having some Tail o' the Pup while spending time at The Lucky Tiki. YUM! I had some fries (delicious), a chicago dog (not the most graceful thing to get while eating amongst friends, but super tasty), and after a few more drinks I got another order of fries but this time got them with chili cheese. Parking is a little bit of a challenge since they don't have a dedicated lot (welcome to WeHo), but I managed to find free neighborhood parking nearby and walked over in 5 minutes. Everything was so good. Highly recommend! Gluten-free options available.

Really cute vintage style hot dog shop with quite a long history in West Hollywood. There's also a tiki bar upstairs. Lots of really neat vintage decor from the color choices to some of the seating areas inside and out. Staff looked busy as usual. If you have a bar reservation upstairs, you can order from there and I got a Lucky Tiki Pup. The Hot dog was a little hard to chew. It came with a pineapple ring and teriyaki sauce that was sweet but not overbearing on a toasted sweet Hawaiian bun. Limited street parking outside, not sure if there were any onsite parking spaces.

Easy to order from the front kiosk in the giant hotdog. Plenty of seating, inside and out. Food was fast and hot, exactly as ordered. Loved the fries and the hotdog (I think I got the 1978?). You really should find this cute nostalgic hidden gem!!

Passed by all the time and first time here. There's no way you can miss the iconic hotdog architecture out on the sidewalk. You place your order at the front literal hot dog stand and then make your way inside for food and drink pick-up. They have seating indoors, outdoors, and upstairs. Lots of space. They have beer/wine/seltzer selections to enjoy as well. They even have a designated water bowl area for your pup to quench their thirst. We went with a little of everything to get a good feel of the offerings... Chili Pup 1946 Pup Corndog Fries Chicken poppers The chili pup was the fav overall and it's loaded. Plus their personalized hotdog holders come in clutch catching any loose ends off your pup. The 1936 pup is good too if you're a big fan of mustard and onions. Service was quick and it was a nice lunch. Will stop by for some pups if in the area again. Chicago pup I see you!

Corn dog - 7/10. Nice crispy outside with a solid dog in the middle, on par with what I expected. Nothing special but gets the job done if you're in the mood for one. Burger - 7.5/10. Good meat patties, solid house sauce, bun toasted nicely. Only thing I didn't like was the fried cheese.....will definitely get regular American next time. Fries - 8/10. Very reminiscent of McDonald's fries which I absolutely love. Only knock is that it was slightly undercooked. I would ask them to cook them a little well done next time tho to get them a little crispier, that would have made it a 10. Chicken poppers - 8/10. Nice crispy outside with lots of meat in every popper. Very good crunch to chew ratio for a piece of fried chicken. Staff - 10/10. Not sure if the guy behind the counter last night was a manager or just a regular employee but he went above and beyond for me when I asked whether they had chipotle mayo or not. They don't have it on the menu but he offered to whip something similar up for me and whatever he came up with was the most delicious of all the condiments/sauces we got. This guy was awesome and for that reason I'm definitely coming back.

When we arrived, it was fairly empty with one couple sitting outside drinking beers. All of the tables and chairs/booths outside were really dirty and dusty so that was a bit unfortunate. The cashier was friendly and patient with us while we tried to figure out what we wanted. I brought my dogs with me because I saw they had a small doggy menu with a doggy dog (hot dog with "dog friendly" cheese). I asked him if it comes with the bun from the puppy dog from the kids menu. He told me that it did but that they were all sold out of it (we arrived around 4:30pm on Saturday). The fur babies split a dog beer (organic coconut water in a cute can) and they had their own hot dog. My roommate ordered Combo #1 (chili pup with added cheese, fries, and medium drink) while I got a chili pup with cheese, tomato, jalapeno and jalapeno spread, and an IPA. The food is quite expensive for what you get---the hot dog itself is very, very skinny and small (Wienerschnitzel has much larger dogs and a lot cheaper) while they surprisingly piled on the toppings. It took a while for our food to be ready and the food was really cold when we got it. Even though they put so much cheese on the hot dog (you can never have enough), because the hot dog was so cold, it was literally a giant pile of cold shredded cheese that didn't melt at all on top. I asked my roommate if we can split the fries (cold and soggy) but the amount they gave was so small and there was a lot of salt on it even though we asked for it to be made without salt. The meal cost almost $80 and the humans left hungry and we ended up eating an actual dinner when we got home. Needless to say, I don't see us going out of our way to go there and eat their food. That being said, it is such a cute activity to do with your dogs as a reward for being good boys. Even without the puppy shaped bun, the cardboard shaped as a dog they put the hot dogs in are cute and so is the adorable coconut water that they labeled dog beer. They really enjoyed their meal. I would go back if I was in the area with my babies so they can have a good time. So there you have it-my breakdown for the 3 star average: -Service: 4 (food took a really long time and came out cold but the cashier had great customer service) -Food: 2 (we ate it all because we were hungry and the flavor wasn't bad but cold and not worth how expensive it is given how tiny the hot dogs and fries were and fries did not come out the way they were ordered) -Ambience: 1 (really dirty, pretty empty when we went) -Dog friendly: 5 (honestly, really wanted to check out this place for the dogs and glad we did because they enjoyed it) (I haven't been to the speakeasy part that's attached to Tail 'o the Pup, but we saw people entering it and looked so cool. Will definitely be trying that place out for some tiki drinks soon!)

Very cute and retro hotdog stand located in the heart of WeHo. We were bar hopping in the area and stumbled upon a giant hotdog so naturally of course we had to stop in. Delicious hotdogs and even better ambiance! They have dog friendly items including dog beer!

Got the combo chili dog and fries with drink. 20 dollars with a tip. Which is about fair for the area. Even though there were actually no other customers here, food was freshly made . Fries were good. Dog has some snap to it. Which I like, not everyone does. Wasn't a huge fan of the chilli. Suspect it's that giant can of chili that places get. Would try a Chicago dog next time . Service was very friendly. Nice folks. It's kind of like pinks, really. Except not crowded.

The owners are super nice and welcoming, which always leaves a good impression. On my second visit (just a regular day), the experience was a little different. The staff didn't seem very attentive to me or my guest. Nothing rude.. just not very engaged. That said, the restaurant does some really cool things. One feature I liked a lot was the spin board that displays your name when your order is ready.. small touch, but creative and fun. Because of the quality of the food and the overall vibe, I'm leaving four stars instead of something lower. The service didn't quite take it over the top, but there also wasn't anything bad enough to knock it down further. With more consistent attentiveness from staff, this spot could easily be a standout.

It's clean and helmed by a small but very friendly staff of people eager to please. The painted brick walls and wood tables & chairs say it wants to be something more and better than a "fast food spot," but its menu is too small to fall into the Mendocino Farms category of "fast casual," so let's just coin a new phrase: First Rate Fast! There are really only 2 things on the menu: a burger (prepared 4 ways) and Pastrami (prepared 3 ways), plus fries and drinks. On this first visit I opted for the "Strong," which their version of a Pastrami Reuben. It's an impressive sandwich, built with very high-quality components. The pastrami is long brined and long smoked and cut thick. It's well-marbled and very rich, with an intense flavor of both the brine and the smoke. It's most easily described as Aaron Franklin's best Texas brisket being sent for a Bar Mitzvah. It's very, very good. The rest of the sandwich holds its own, too. The rye bread is top flight and very flavorful, grilled perfectly to have that buttery crunch without being too greasy. Melted Swiss adds even more richness, while spicy mustard and slightly bitter sauerkraut bite back against the fat. The addition of a fairly mayo-forward Russian Dressing was a bit too much for me. Yes, it's the traditional Reuben condiment, but here the pastrami is so rich that the dressing (to me) gilds the lily, and a second layer of mustard (to me) would help to balance the sandwich a bit more. I ordered the combo, which means fries and a drink. The fries are pretty basic, but are very properly cooked to a nice crispness and carry the right dusting of salt. Sodas are canned, but they do have glasses and ice, so no harm there. Probably the funniest thing: each table has a light as you might have in a fine dining establishment. They're not necessary because this is a very bright restaurant -- but they are ring lights, and they help ensure that every social media photo has just the right glow. That's kind of genius. This is good food, and I will surely try a burger next time. But don't wait for my next review, head out soon and give them a try.

I've been a frequent flyer of Boo's (since I'm over in Ktown) and also quite a few orders over the years from South Philly Experience and twice from Matu (but that's a major treat and honestly way overpriced). All of these have their own great bits about them and I love all these spots. This isn't going to be a "who's better than who" since each is different in their own right and hits the spot different ways. I got the sweet pepper steak on seeded roll with of course, Cooper's! Then I got a classic Italian hoagie (with Cooper's) loaded up double meat/cheese. Biiiiig bonus using Boar's Head meats too, top shelf stuff. The fact that they're using Cooper's is a major plus and can get a seeded roll is such a nice touch. I do love a classic Amoroso, but seeded with the cheesesteak and Cooper's gives Matu a run for its money (and saves my wallet). Of course the meat quality is very different due to Matu using Wagyu but let's be real, that's really what you're paying for there. It's a nice treat but not an every other day get your money's worth. I feel I've found my favourite cheesesteak now though! The roll is super fluffy and crunchy where it needs to be. That thing was swaddled like a cared for newborn when it arrived and still hot from Melrose. Absolute 9/10 for me. The Italian was properly loaded and as I sit here enjoying it, a nice zingy break between cheesesteak bites as I split them half and half for lunch. For speed I love some Boo's, for the grill char taste I love some South Philly Experience but overall for my favourite spot now, it's Philly's Best off Melrose. Matu again is a great quality cut treat but the wait, the cost and the amount you get is not really worth it. Will absolutely be ordering from this place again in the future!!

We stopped in on a Sunday around 11:30, no line and very quick service! Finished eating and left around 12:05 so we must've lucked out with no line. We got two double cheese burgers and the loaded fries. The burger had impressively thin patties with a really nice char on the meat skirt, well seasoned, and perfectly crispy. The buns were quite small and a bit smooshed, but they were soft. It came with some fry sauce and pickles as well, overall a good burger. The fries had a good amount of toppings (cheese onions, fry sauce) and were nice and crispy. Kinda wish the onions were slightly more grilled for some extra flavor! Would probably go for plain next time as the loaded fries and burger together had similar flavors The interior has a few benches for seating and single bar type seating around the perimeter - I could see it filling up if there's a big line of people. Would like to try the chicken sandwich and brussel sprouts next time we stop by!

Harken back when I was a wee lad bouncing around the play place of the Golden Arches. Not a care in…read morethe world and not a thought behind my eyes. I have carried life's burden and traveled continents, but one thing remains the same after my many moons of life, the taste of a Big Mac. The taste of a burger so consistent and familiar, that my tastebuds can traverse continents and taste fermented shark in the Netherlands, broiled Mackerel in Kyoto, or a cheeseburger in Reykjavik. The Big Mac stays the same. I went to LA to taste, apparently, the best burger in LA at For the Win. I paid $25 for two smash burgers and had high expectations. After all, when you click this joint on Google Maps, a fancy review pops up. Nice! However, when the smash burger entered my cave and caressed my buds, my mind instantly recognized it as a Big Mac. Therefore, my brain could hardly differentiate between a McDonalds burger, and the "best" burger in LA. I haven't eaten at McDonalds in 14 years, but my mind still knew what a gentle and warm face looks like. So overall, it was alright! As the reverend Shane Gillis says "Not Bad". The service was good tho. And the ambiance was a bit weird because the music was off. Haha bye!!!
