I brought my husband here for the lunch special to show him one of my favorite memories from when I was in high school and was pleasantly surprised to see nothing had changed in 20 years! While the prices may be slightly different (duh, it's been 20 years), it was still beyond affordable. Sitting down for a salad, soup, rice & entree for two for less than $40 with tip? Hell yeah! Such a gem in Willow Glen and I hope they continue to carry on the magic

My family and I have enjoyed coming to Taiwan Restaurant for over ten years. We made a reservation for Saturday night and when we arrived, we were greeted and promptly seated. Our server was very friendly and helpful with assisting with allergies. We ordered the honey walnut chicken and needed it made without cornstarch. She suggested to have the chicken sautéed. This ended up being super yummy and fresh! We also got Mongolian prawns, pineapple fried rice, wor wonton soup, and Mushu pork. The Mushu Pork is so fresh and the vegetables are delicious- they don't get lost in the sauce. Love that they have family dinner options available. Lots of choices! The restaurant is very clean and the tables are all nicely set. I would recommend for a date, a family meal, or for takeout. It's an awesome choice! Can't wait to go back next time we are in the Bay.

Beef with snow peas. They had a nice crunch.

Dinner tonight was Chinese takeout from Taiwan Restaurant in Willow Glen. I've eaten there a handful of times over the years and thought the food was okay, but it never particularly stood out to me. Until tonight! I had pork egg foo young and beef with snow peas and it was WOW. So good. Fresh and hot with lots of flavor. I will be eating there much more often from now on.

I had dinner tonight with my family and the food as always was amazing but the new server that was working tonight was completely out of line I tipped over 15% and he had the audacity to come to our table to tell me I should tip him more when he infact provided terrible service there were three waiters and we had the luck to sit in his section he never came to check if we needed anything we had to keep flagging him down for help and keep reminding him we needed things

Reserved a table in advance for a birthday dinner. Staff were welcoming and accommodated us at the large round table with a large Lazy Susan. The ambience in the restaurant is very authentic, I would say the best in San Jose. The food is always on point. Everyone was a first timer but me. They loved the food. I wasn't able to take a photo of every entrée because it all went so fast. The staff were so helpful they brought out our birthday cake we provided playing the birthday song on their house speakers! Nice touch! They cut the cake for us and served it. Very nicely done making my family feel special!

Mongolian Beef. Like nothing you've ever ordered before named Mongolian beef.

First time back in over 10 years. Hot and sour soup, was more sour than spicy hot. Definitely needed some white pepper or something. The Asian chicken salad was pretty sad. Yikes. Don't order the Mongolian beef. It's beef w zucchini. Tastes nothing like any other restaurants Mongolian beef. Wish I looked up pictures before I ordered, so I'd have known to order something else. Too much tenderizer used on the beef. It had a soft chicken feel rather than a more firm beef texture. And you can see it's way too wet / saucy. The kung pao chicken was ok. Not sure I'll be coming back to try again. FYI. Seems like most of the lunch specials are close to $15.95 before tax and tip.

Excellent flavors. Friendly staff. I did pickup both times. They thoughtfully called to check when I was late to pick up the food.

    Was this business previously taiwaneserestaurant.com?

I do not believe that Taiwan restaurant ever use that domain. Their domain name has been taiwanrestaurantsj.com for a very long time.

Do they still offer the Sunday champagne brunch? The website has changed and it doesn't say.

What are your most popular dishes?

We love Taiwan. Our family favorite dishes are the beef chow fun, the orange chicken, the pot stickers and the chicken chow mien. I do not think you could go wrong with any of their dishes!

What keeps us coming back is how well they balance heat and flavor. The spice here never feels like a stunt -- it builds alongside real depth and seasoning. The Qiao Jiao Niu Rou (跷脚牛肉) is a standout -- a Sichuan-style boiled beef dish served in a rich, aromatic broth that somehow lands the spice-to-savory ratio perfectly every time. The Shui Zhu Yu (水煮鱼) is also worth ordering; the fish is decent quality, silky in texture, and the numbing chili oil broth does its job well. The restaurant ambient environment is ok and does get crowded often, but honestly that's just a symptom of being good - this place has built a real following in the South Bay. The Orchard Farms lot outside gives you plenty of parking, which takes some of the stress off a busy weekend dinner. One thing to flag: they now auto-include an 18% gratuity on the bill by default, so keep that in mind when you're reviewing the final check. It's easy to miss and double-tip if you're not paying attention. Factor it into your budget upfront and you'll have no surprises.

You order from the QR code at the table. The star of the show was the Sizzling Cumin Potato Slices. They truly came out sizzling. The flavor was reminiscent of the 5 spice seasoning used on skewers. The potato was so crispy with a soft interior. It came with slices of what looked like pork belly too. The dish was so tasty we devoured it and ordered a second order! The sautéed lotus root with chili peppers were flavorful, mildly spicy, and has the best texture from the lotus root. Most people come here for the Spicy Chicken. This is a very forward spice but it's very addicting. Don't forget to order a side of steamed rice to help offset the spice! The house special fried noodles were surprisingly flavorful and well balanced. I'd order this dish again. It uses the same chili peppers that the spicy chicken has. All in all this is a great place to stop in for dinner! Especially if you love spicy food!

It had a great mala flavor with a subtle numbing sensation, and the peanuts added a nice crunch and texture to the dish. The Tianjin Eggplant was simple but delicious, with flavorful pork that paired really well with the soft eggplant. Overall, the food here is comforting and satisfying. We arrived around 12:30pm, and were seated immediately at the corner of the communal table. Service was bare minimal but efficient. We ordered via a QR code, and helped ourselves to the water already at the table. There's a self-serve sauce bar near the entrance as well. The restaurant wasn't too big inside and there was a short line outside while we're there. The line went away pretty quickly, though. Food came out within 10 minutes after placing our order. I had their Signature Free Range Chicken Big-bus Miishien Soup for the "crossing the bridge noodles" experience. The broth was piping hot and very flavorful. I put all the fixings and noodles into the broth except the cashew nuts and the chicken, which I put in right before I was about to eat them. The chicken was very lean and tender. I even ate the skin as there's no fat attached to it. I also loved the texture of the noodles. The mushroom was great, just too little of it. I wish they had used corn ribs or another vegetable as the corn kernels were very hard to fish from the broth. While it was a delicious and satisfying bowl of noodles, the "Big-bus" version was a bit overpriced. Our daughter liked her Small Pot Spicy Ground Pork Miishien Soup (Less Spicy), especially how the mini Chinese donuts soaked up the broth. I had a bit of her broth and ground pork, and it was yummy with just a bit of numbing spininess. We both liked their pickles from the sauce bar and at the table. My husband enjoyed his Small Pot Spicy Ground Pork Miishien Soup with free extra miishien as well. After selecting Checkout on Chowbus, payment was done via a staff who came by. I signed up for their rewards program when I ordered, and got 10% off. I would love to come back and try their spicy beef noodles. I noticed a promo sign outside the restaurant for some of their noodle dishes (@$12.99) from Monday to Thursday, during specific hours.
